I wanted to come on here and give RENE the hair stylist a big shout out. She recently did my hair and I was more than happy with it. Rene is a newer stylist there but she's given me a better experience than the more experienced stylists have in the past. Rene was honest, straight forward and real with what was realistic as far as accomplishments with my hair. I wish Rene knew she was better and more qualified than most stylists. No one else is ever going to touch my hair. What I liked about her the most was how kind hearted she is. A lot of stylists are rude and ulta has a reputation for it. I messed up BIG time in getting my haircut at the Ulta in Lake Stevens, WA. My gut was telling me to just go to my normal lady. But this Ulta is 5 minutes away from me and the stylist, Justine, said she was really good with haircuts. I trusted her. I told her I wanted the bare minimum and she suggested about 2 inches cut. She showed me what she was going to cut off the ends, and it looked closer to 1.5 inches. After the cut, I told her it looked way shorter and she told me that's what V cuts do. I know what V cuts look like because I've had that cut for majority of my life. She did NOT cut 1.5 inches to 2 inches. She cut a good 3-4 inches off. My hair grows at a very slow pace and I've been working on getting my hair really long. I have OCD with my hair and I'm very attached to it. Not only did she cut way more than I was okay with, the layers are not even on both sides. One side has a layer ending at my chin, the other side is half way down my neck. I asked for a LONG shag cut, I've showed pictures, and what I got looks to be long layers all bundled at the very bottom layer. So...my hair honestly looks like it was cut to one straight length. I have had multiple panic attacks because of this and I'm shaking right now just typing this up. I can't get my hair fixed by my lady til next week and I'm ready to just chop all my hair off. I paid $75 for the service and a $15 tip. The way she styled my hair after the cut made my hair look decent, but once I got home and washed my hair and styled it how I do, I can clearly see how much I hate my hair and I hate myself for not trusting my gut and just going to the hairstylist that I trust. Also, I've shared my horror stories with Justine and she said she understands my OCD with my hair. I just wasted $90 on a haircut that I absolutely hate and have to go pay another $75 to get it fixed so it's at least bearable until my hair can grow back to the length that I had it. Nothing on Justine as a person. She was very nice and fun to talk with, but I don't see myself returning for another service. read more

Poor management. I can tell by 2 things: dirty store. I didn't even want to touch the checkout counter. When I used to work in retail, if the counters and glass were dirty, you wiped them up. This store is filthy. Second, I know that most people, including myself, drop a hefty amount of money in here. That said, it is EXTREMELY frustrating that their inventory is low on so much. Today, 4 of 4 items that I went in to get, were out. This has happened multiple times. Inattention to stock and lack of ordering seems to be the case. These items are easily available online, no shortage. I hate ordering everything on Amazon but guess I will have to go back to that. They seem so chipper to offer, "Oh we can order it." Well, last time I did that, it took 2 weeks. Why shop here when I can stay in my clean home, get items in 48 hours or less and not have to be pestered by 6 people asking me every 5 minutes if they can help me find something they're currently out of stock on???? So sad because this store is relatively new. read more

I am very disappointed in the Lake Stevens Ulta. My friends and I were treated as if we were stealing.... as someone who loves coming to ulta it was unfortunate that my friends and I got stereotyped in a store we love to splurge at. Very sad that they were also all white women, nothing new at Lake Stevens. read more

My sister and mom went to ulta for a hair cut tonight and although they made two separate appointments, for two separate stylists, they were worked on by the same stylist at the same time. For two haircuts it Took 2.5 hours. The other stylist was "too busy" My sister showed them a picture of what she wanted and the manager of the salon and the stylist just told her she wouldn't like it and didn't respect what my sister wanted. They never even cut the front of my moms hair. For $55/haircut, that's an unacceptable experience. Update after my mom and sister arrived home: my sisters hair looks NOTHING like what she wanted, but my mom did say that the stylist was trying her hardest to make everyone happy after being out in a bad situation by her manager. read more

Had a balayage, cut and olaplex treatment with Justine today. I have to say that her balayage work was the best that I ever had - the color is so much better than I expected! I am extremely happy with Justine's work. She also gave me a nice haircut.... And she's easy to talk with!! Just a really great experience!!! A huge "Thank You" to Justine!!! read more

Don't get your hair done by Allison Guzman. Posting before and after pics. She doesn't know how to perform a basic foil retouch even knowing the color formula left from previous em ployee. Paid $200 and left with worse hair which isn't why people go to a salon. Huge chunk of orange strand just randomly sticking out and not sure what else she did but she ruined my look and now I look cheap. Something seriously wrong with this girl she also knew she messed by expression on her face and tried to mask it. She also never styles hair doesn't know how to perform basic blow out and round brush curl. Hair was half wet frizzy and I looked crazy walking out. I got weird looks from ulta employees as I paid because they were all checking out my orange hair. Complete waste of time. The store recently opened in October 2019 and has been around for a couple weeks now. The brand new store is out of stock of a lot of items, countless items are not priced, and the store is unorganized. The display for the Florence line is right behind a pole, which is poor advertising and provides limited access to customers trying to by those products. You have to crouch down and search around the pole for the product and to read the labels! The workers are not very helpful, knowledgeable and I feel like a lot of them have not been well trained. I also decided to try a facial at the Skin Bar since I had a coupon. I was scheduled for a 60 minute treatment, and filled out a form the previous day addressing my skin care concerns. The day of the facial, the girl took 15 minutes to decide what to use on my skin, get the products together, and get her station set up while I sat there in the chair. She only worked on me for 45 minutes. The chairs are uncomfortable, in the open in the store, and under bright light. You can hear the store behind you and it was not very relaxing. I would prefer to be in a quiet private setting for a facial. The facial was nice and my skin felt and looked great afterwards, but it was a mediocre and somewhat unprofessional setting. The girl working on me was a licensed esthetician, but did not seem very knowledgeable and came across timid, not well organized, not entirely confident in the treatment process. She was very nice and polite though, and did not pressure me to buy products. I would get a facial done here if I was desperate and couldn't get into my usual esthetician at the spa. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR EYEBROWS WAX HERE! Wanted to check this place out for the 1st time. Left that place crying and so mad! I told the gal (Kaylah)just a clean up and trim around my eyebrows and not to go thin because I have full thick eyebrows that I have been growing out since June. But came out with very thin and uneven eyebrows. Very disappointed and PISSED OFF! This will be my first and last time I will ever get my eyebrows done there! read more

I called in to look for a product and the girl I spoke to on the phone was very friendly! I went in about a week ago wanting to start wearing makeup. I had no clue what I was doing but I didn't even last two minutes before I had someone helping me. She didn't try to get me to spend outrageous amounts of money and helped me try foundations. She also didn't hover tho, she gave me time to look around on my own while still checking in. Fast forward to today. My cheap face wash has been drying out my skin SO BAD. I went in before work to see what I could try. Again, I immediately had an employee offering help, advice, testing products with me. I put a few products on hold since my paycheck still had a few hours before it would go through and since I work across the street I figured I could just go in on my break. I walked in with plans to look at a few other products to help my skin. The cashier greeted me and I started asking them questions. They offered to show me a few products but explained that she had to finish something up. No big deal! Within maybe 45 seconds, another employee offered to help so I didn't have to wait. The salon is a disaster! On 2 occasions I had booked two kid's hair cuts and the same time with two stylist. Both times I arrived to be informed that they rescheduled the appointments to run back to back so the other stylist could book a different client. They never called to inform me let alone ask if it would be okay. I was pissed but let it slide because the location hadn't been open long and I figured they had new employees. So I had to entertain each kid for almost an hour each and waste more of my afternoon. But today was the last straw. I made an appointment at 10:30 with Renee for a haircut. We arrived a few minutes early and the doors were locked...they don't even open until 11:00! I called the salon and Renee answered and was completely dismissive stated "oh that's a cooperate issue." She made no offer to rectify the problem or even reschedule. I will never use this salon again. read more
