Customer service is lacking, and the employees at the register are rude. I called to ask if a product was in stock, and it was, but when I asked how much her reply was, "I don't know." I went to the store to look for the item, and told the cashier , Brianna that I never used gel polish and the kit, and asked her about it. She didn't know, but told me I could return it. She rang up my order, and before she rang it up, I requested her to use my points, but she forgot, and told me , " It is okay you accrued two more points, and you can use it on your next purchase since it will probably be big." I went home to open the product and it had a strong chemical smell. I returned the products open, but not used within 30 minutes. Brianna and her co worker with the head garb said ," what did you expect it is nail polish." Both employees were very rude and accusatory that I used the product when I just opened the package . I want to rave about Joanne in the Chanel department. What a resume she has with Chanel and we are so so fortunate to have her at our location!! Joanne is the most amazing makeup artist around. She is beyond gifted with makeup. I have had many professional makeup sessions since I am not very skilled myself. No one, and I do mean no one can make someone look better. ( FYI I have gone to some unbelievably talented people) All my friends were AMAZED at how good I looked!! They all planned on stopping in to see Joanne!! Store is clean, organized, and somewhat well-stocked. What I mean by the latter is that while there are a lot of options for almost any beauty need, there was some bare shelf space where popular items had gone out of stock, particularly in hair care. I could have just caught them before they restocked, but that was my experience. Couldn't get things I went there to buy. I read all the unfortunate low-star reviews about the associates before my visit, but visited with an open mind. I was greeted when I went in (one of 2 customers that night). When I had questions, though, I had to go to the registers to ask, because no one was on the floor. Up front, the two associates were talking with one other customer...for a while. Annoying that they felt it appropriate that they both tend to her, and make me wait (I was pressed for time to get to another store before it closed). After a few minutes, one assoc took the customer off down an aisle, and the other remained. She did not approach me after watching me linger for a question all that time, which is not very professional. She was, however, more professional when I approached / spoke to her. I asked about availability of any Chanel and Lancôme products, which she said she hopes to be stocking soon. This was great news for locals like me, who don't want to trek to the mall. She said she has tons of customers requesting the two brands, and they should have both in a couple months. She said their Exton store has them, and it's just a matter of time before they do as well. I will check back, and hope to see them in stock soon! Aside: When I go to Lancôme at Nordstrom / Neimans (KoP), or call Lancôme's toll free number (800-526-2663), they pronounce it "Lawn-comb" but at Ulta, after I pronounced it that way, the associate made a point of saying "Lan-come" (like the a in "land"), like I was in error. Just annoying when someone "corrects" me with their own mispronunciation. I don't really care how you pronounce it, but if you're going to "toe-may-toe / toe-mah-toe" me, I'll "toe-may-toe / toe-mah-toe" you back. read more

This Ulta Beauty is great! To be honest, I'm not a fan of the Springfield location so I'm happy to find another ulta in the area that's great. The employees are always very friendly and make check-out a breeze. The store is very easy to navigate and it's spotless inside. I love this location! I've never waited long in line. And, they always have what I need in stock. If you're not familiar with Ulta, they sell everything you could ever need beauty wise. You can't go wrong with this Ulta location. Could spend hours in here.... honestly I probably have! read more

Disappointed! Not a huge selection of hair accessories and when I did find a makeup product I wanted the price was significantly higher at checkout than tagged on the shelf! When the cashier and I went back to the isle she removed all the incorrectly tagged items and would not honor the price! Needless to say I will not be going back to this store. read more

I got HUNG UP ON because I had someone else's phone number on their appointment. I called the store to let them know as a COURTESY that whoever had said appointment did not have the correct phone number. Whoever answered the phone on the first time clearly didn't give a f*** because they hung up on me after I explained the situation. Thankfully after calling a second time I spoke with DOMINIQUE at the salon (she gets a 5/5 as she HELPED ME) unlike whoever I spoke with. I am so happy with my experience here in the Newtown Square Ulta. So knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend asking the staff if you are unsure about anything. Obviously with the virus, they can't open testers. I had a nearly empty pressed powder from Mac and that's so far away, so I was trying to find a match in my skin color. I picked Clinique and Claudia helped me with finding a similar product (I would have DEFINITELY bought the wrong powder) and she, within a minute, found the winner. Thanks, Claudia, for your guidance, and thanks to Ulta for hiring excellent employees and treating them well enough that they visibly enjoy their jobs! I would add that I live a mile away so I am often at this store, and once they even helped me find my lost phone by calling it for me while I searched my car. When I go to Sephora, I can never get anyone's attention and when I do they are annoyed. Way different experience here. read more

Unfortunately I will have to echo the comments of some of the ladies below me. I came to this location on my lunch break to quickly grab some Mario Badescu products- quickly being the operative word. I found my products and one employee walking by me asked if I was doing okay and let me know I had grabbed a tester by accident. Awesome, that was very nice of her. When I got to the check out counter, different story. I counted not 1, not 2...but FIVE different employees in the store doing various tasks while ignoring me standing up front. One was merchandising shelves, looked up at me..and kept on merchandising. One walked through an aisle, saw me and kept walking. Not even a "hey we will be with you in a moment"...nothing. I stood there for probably 3-4 minutes waiting for someone to help until I walked over to the girl who was merchandising to ask if she could ring me up. There was NO one else in the store guest wise either. This is extremely frustrating when I could have ordered this product online directly from Mario Badescu. Next time I'll think again before giving Ulta my business when I can order online. read more

I specifically came to this store because it was advertised online they started carrying a particular deodorant that I wanted to try. I walked around the beauty/skincare section roughly for 15 minutes looking for it. Not once was I offered any help and the store was not busy. Two employees held a quick convo in the aisle I was in and still neither one offered help. Having years of work experience in retail, I was disappointed in their workers in a brand new store; typically they have the best employees from other nearby locations open the store and set the standard. Nonetheless, I will not return to this store due to their poor customer service. read more

A brand-spanking new Ulta at Ellis Preserve (a Whole foods will soon be there, too.). Super clean and well organized and only about 6 weeks open. I was able to pick up some holiday-packaged gift sets (Like Lorac alter-ego lip glosses) for a good value. Also you can get gift cards. There is a small skin care spa area and a hair care/hair salon. I was so happy to find out they put an Ulta in Newtown Square. I live in the area and love Ulta. I have been here several times. I came here on Sunday and the ignorance by the employees this day was the icing on the cake. Every time I come in. I'm never greeted. Employees are always up front talking about their personal lives. When you do need something or you want to leave. They are rude because you interrupted them. You also have to remind them to put your phone number in the POS so you get your points. I asked about NARS make-up they had I was looking for what was back in stock. The girl screamed across the store regarding a lip-gloss. Didn't come help me to talk screamed across the store. That's just pure laziness. I was so mad. I left and said thanks for no help. I had to post. I don't know who the manager is. I went to this store for the first time and asked a sales associate for some advice on a product. She took me to a VERY expensive option. When I asked if there was an option that wasn't so overpriced she made me feel like a cheapskate and told me I'd need to go look on the drugstore side of their product selection. It was clear she didn't care what I as they customer needed, she only cared about selling a $24 tube of eyebrow gel. I found the exact same product in her store for $8. The difference between the N.S. Ulta and the Springfield Ulta is night and day. There is much more product available at Springfield and the Customer Service is 100% better at Springfield. It's really a shame Ulta's reputation is being damaged because of this one store. You walk in this store, you look around for what you need, and not one employee asks if you need help. Received a great haircut from Jess. I needed a quick appt for a work thing, after calling around to a few salons Ulta was the only salon that I could find that was open on Sunday & could schedule me with less than 24 hour notice. Jess was awesome, she did my hair exactly like I asked & didn't try to talk me out of anything (every stylist I go to try to talk me out of the cut that I want, and I've had the same haircut for 15+ years). I brought in pictures to show how I wanted my bangs & she cut them exactly the way the picture look. I love the cute. It is easy to style. Looks super clean (especially for long hair). I've had the cut for almost 2 weeks & have received many compliments. read more

Newtown Square Ulta the last two visits have been quite a disappointment. The staff are not trained in customer service or sale information. When I questioned the lack of "free gift" with puchase got an audible sigh. Are you joking, I'm spending almost $200.00 and I'm getting attitude from this person who gets paid to serve the customer. I was the only person in the line so I can't even say she was busy and stressed. I can get every single item at Macys or Boscov's or online. This is how brick and morter stores go out of business and these sorts of employees lose jobs. I'm fairly certain that I will not be in that store again. read more

The store is aesthetically well-kept, only because that's all the employees seem to occupy themselves with probably. I felt uncomfortable asking an employee to put on one of the new Tarte bronzers because the two women occupying the Clinique area were way too busy chatting. I literally walked around the same 3 aisles with the sample palette in my hand trying to be patient until I finally said forget it. They don't seem to care about customer service, they lack every sense of retail etiquette. Only when you leave you get a, "have a nice day." Also, the woman of color with long braids nearly hit my car after she got off her shift when she cut me off abruptly at a red light. This Ulta location is an awful experience both inside and out. Based on other reviews I see I am not the only one who received horrible service. Walked in and there were two ladies at the front counter, both of them made eye contact and neither one of them acknowledged me. I walked around the store for 10 minutes up and down aisles looking for a particular product, as another sales associate joined the two upfront. I still wasn't greeted nor asked if I need help. I received a haircut from their level 3 Deva curl specialist and asked for my dead ends to be cut off. She claimed she only cut off an inch and a half but I ended up losing over 5 years worth of hair growth!!! I know I hadn't gotten a cut in over a year (BECAUSE of the fear of getting it all chopped off) but I didn't think my ends were THAT bad. The cut is okay but I just wanted it to be refreshed. DO NOT go to her if you love your long hair!! I severely regret walking in there today. EDIT: Ulta contacted me and ensured that this will not happen to others in the future along with refunding my haircut after a few phone calls. read more

Agree with the other reviews that are unhappy with this location.. I am about to replace all my makeup .. lucky to have several gift cards to help.. this location is so close . I went in Thursday to start looking around .. I was basically ignored and even spent 15 minutes browsing. There was a sales person with a white coat on and was too busy to bothered as she was stocking makeup in the front of the store .. left and decided to come back the next day. a Friday .. even took a ulta bag from the lobby to show I was getting a few items .. this time at least she yelled to me welcome to ulta but that was it ..it was the same sales clerk and was too busy to come up to me because she was too busy stocking the same exact spot as the day before .. after 10' minutes I left .. with several other ultras are close this one won't get my money read more

I recently bought $50 worth of hair products I was specifically looking for. While I looked three salespeople were in a conversation a few aisles away. When I was walking toward the cashier, one asked if I needed any help. Yes about ten minutes ago! The first thing the cashier asked me was, "What's your phone number?" Really? No "hello", have you found everything you were looking for?" I responded it was unlisted. She looked panicked and told me it didn't go anywhere. Then why ask? She then asked me if I had a daughter? I could give her phone number. OMG, totally inappropriate question. Besides if I'm not giving you my phone number why would I give you my daughter's she assumed I had? I told her I don't give out personal information. I most likely will continue shopping there, but please stop this policy of asking customers for their phone numbers!! read more

I stopped by this new location recently and had an overall great experience. The store was clean and the staff members were helpful. I was immediately greeted as soon as I walked in and the staff made sure I was helped but didn't follow me around as I was browsing. I will be coming again soon! It was my first time visiting the store and it was beautiful, clean, and surprisingly not at all busy during my visit. My sole purpose was to buy something in the store that I saw online. This location did not have it, but instead of offering to check another store for me...the employee said "I don't know, we don't have a way to check another store, you'd have to call them." It would have been nice customer service to take a little step to help me. I was prepared to spend around 200 dollars, but instead of getting the other things I had on my list, I decided to take all of my business elsewhere. Another staff member stopped me on my way out and offered to call another store for me, but it was too late. I had already started making calls on my phone. Ulta needs a system that allows them to search other stores for product, staff needs to be more helpful in finding products, and the website needs to allow users to see what stores their products online are available at. read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT go to this Ulta to have your brows waxed. The girl was very nice, but totally butchered my eyebrows. They are completely uneven and my one brow is very thin. After she was finished, she told me she felt rushed and was nervous. Uhhh....seriously? First, they outline your brows. This process gave me peace of mind, as she said she would only wax the hairs outside of the line. To me, her sketch on my brows looked conservative (we agreed she would only clean me up). When she was finished, I was horrified!! The "brow specialist" said she was trained by Benefit Cosmetics and I intend on contacting them as well. This girl should not be waxing! I don't know why I keep going in this store but the help there doesn't even know where things are in the store. The shelves are never stocked once things are sold out. You can wait weeks to get what you're looking for. Their books that are mailed out have all the good coupons and free gifts to online shoppers only. And a few times I've forgotten the 2.50 or 3.50 coupon in store and regardless that I'm a member there they wont give it to you. So disappointed with Ulta. read more

I went to this store to find a new foundation. An employee approached me and asked if I needed help. As I was telling her what I was looking for she was fixing her hair in the mirror and looking annoyed that I was asking for help. When I was done talking she just grabbed the foundation I was standing in front of and said she thinks that might be good and that she would match my color. As she was trying different colors on me she went on to say she doesn't wear make up and doesn't know much about foundation, which set off a red flag for me. If this was the case, she could have found another employee that would know better. She also said she has never heard of MAC makeup. For somebody who is working in the beauty industry it is very odd to never hear of a top beauty brand. This leads me to believe their employees are not very skilled or knowledgable. She was very nice and covered my face in the foundation that she said matched my skin but when I got home and looked in the mirror I looked like a ghost was about 3 shades lighter than the rest of my body. I called the store to see if I could do an exchange even if the sales person had already opened my foundation since she didn't have a tester package. The person on the phone was extremely rude. I began by saying I was in the store earlier and someone tried to match my color and thats as far into the story I got before she cut me off and with an ignorant, pissed off tone said "Ok so what is it you need? For exchanges you just come into the store." At this point I was so fed up with the store I didn't even bother to explain the package was already opened by their employee to test on me so I just said "have a nice day" and hung up. Hi ulta.. I was just in your store in Newtown Square last week. I was very disappointed in the costumer survice. I asked a worker there who worked in the makeup section where the "better than sex mascara was" and she responded " you see that girl standing there somewhere behind her" so I walked over to where the girl was standing and still didn't see it. 10 min later the girl that I asked about the mascara came over to me saying "did you find the mascara" I said "no I can't find It " " she said turn around and look again" and than she goes "try looking a little harder next time it's right in front of your face". She could of showed my where It was to begin with. She was very very rude and I will never come back here again! And after I bought the better than sex mascara I opened the mascara up and the mascara was completely dried out this made me never want to buy the product again.
