For some reason they've decided not to let anyone in their store because they are short staffed? Not sure if that's really the best idea as you just lost so much business and all you have to do is ring people up at the cash register. Also don't know what that means you're even doing since you're getting paid to work and clearly not working if nobody is allowed in. Called the store ahead of time letting them know the location I was at (in Scottsdale) didn't have my color of foundation in stock, they reported that they will close at 6pm today 9/5/22. I raced over with 6 mins to spare before 6pm, but they'd locked their doors already. Pretty dissatisfied, especially since I called ahead, as well as the price of gas currently, their customer service is lacking and felt like a complete waste of money and time. Advice for next time....recommend to hold it in the customers name, then inform customer that you do lock the doors -however long it is- before your ACTUAL posted "closing time". Thx read more

Worst service I have ever gotten in my life! Debbie has a horrible attitude not to mention the way she treats the staff. Cynthia has terrible customer service I was in the store when a coworker came out crying saying she got fired and she had a smirk on her face. I will not be coming back to this location as long as they are working here. It is absolutely despicable that they got pleasure from this. I go this this Ulta quite often. Sometimes multiple staff will offer help, othertimes I need to find someone if I cant locate a product. If you go there often enough like me you get to know the store layout. I've never had an unfriendly encounter here. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I'm a Sephora girl, and now will remain one. I needed shampoo and conditioner, and I was told that Ulta carried what I wanted (turns out they don't), but since it's right next door to my gym, I thought I'd run in and give it a try. It was 6:00, and NO ONE was in there. I walked in, the girl at the cash register didn't say hello or anything, didn't ask if I needed help, nothing. Sephora has people waiting to help you. I walked all over, no one offered any help. I went back to the front to see if they carried Moroccan Oil shampoo and Conditioner and the response was, "yeah...no." I was pretty shocked at the bitchy attitude. I felt like I was bothering them from doing nothing. I left and will NEVER go back. Ulta sucks, go to Sephora. So much better. read more

This past Friday I took my 6 year old daughter to David's Bridal to pick out her flower girl dress for an upcoming wedding. She was so excited (I mean she was hugging the wedding dresses on display)! I told her that after we pick up the dress we could go pick out make up for her for the big day. I told her she could buy a lip liner, blush and eye shadow. We walked into the Ulta on Tatum and we went up to one of the makeup artists. I asked the women to give my daughter a makeover. The woman responded, "I don't work for Ulta. I work for Too Faced and I am here to make sales so I don't work on children." I asked her why she doesn't work on children (I mean there were NO other customers around her). She responded, "Just a personal preference." She then immediately walked away. Really? Is this allowed? Does my daughter not have the same rights as any other customer? Would it have been okay if an elderly woman came up to her and the woman responded, "I'm working for sales so I don't work on elderly. Just a personal preference." I'm not saying that people can't have their personal preferences but when you are representing a company minimally you could say, "I don't work on children let me guide you to someone who does." It is also probably not a good idea to judge who has or does not have enough money for you to be willing to work on them. My daughter was in the market for 3 products. I was in the market for 4 products and I usually buy Urban Decay or Stila so this would have been the perfect opportunity for this Too Faced representative to two generations of woman to the product line and probably would have made a 7 product sale. Is Ulta or Too Faced aware that you have people working in your store or representing your company that have no intention of doing any work unless they perceive that they will have a for sure sale and refuse to even take the time to send those people (who being in a makeup store would be there to purchase something, I have never walked into a makeup store unless I needed to make a purchase) in the right direction of someone who might help them. Your representative used age discrimination against my daughter and I am offended. I did not make a big deal of it at the store because my daughter was so excited and I did not want her to feel bad but my daughter deserved to have her makeup done. read more

I walked into this Ulta location looking for some of my fav hair products. I couldn't find what I was looking for so I opted to try something new. The salon manager asked if I knew how to apply and style it. I said no, but I'm sure I can figure it out. She then offered to give me a blow out so I could see how to get the best results from the product. I was thrilled! The end product was amazing, and I was so grateful that she took the time to give such great customer service. I scheduled an eye brow appointment today at 6:45 missed appointment then rescheduled for 7:30 when I got there 7:27pm I was told it would take 20 mins to heat wax and wouldn't have enough time for it. I have a busy schedule and really needed to get this done. I have used this Ulta but will no longer be going back because of this horrible experience. Don't schedule appointments for days and times that are not available. Or hire workers that are willing to accommodate loyal customers, or not close up earlier then closing time. I am between 3 and 4 stars here actually. Every time I come to this location, they don't have the items stocked in the store that are in the advertisement. I do love the coupons though and I like that I can find killer deals on shampoo and conditioner. It's fun to just peruse the isles and see what they have. The staff is usually pretty friendly but then they tell me EVERY single time I pay at the register, "You are approved for 2 free issues of Instyle, would you like me to have those delivered to your home?"--- Approved? I guess it's a good marketing thing that works for them b/c they have been asking this for over a year now I think. Although Sephora is my favorite cosmetic/fragrance/skin care store, Ulta is a close second. They give out really good coupons (although be advised that these coupons can't be used on any premium cosmetics- that means anything name brand) and they have tons of different brands to choose from. You'll find everything from cheap Cover Girl makeup to nice cosmetic lines like Bare Escentuals and Too Faced. They also sell great hair products, hair styling products, skin care items, perfume, lotions and much, much more. It's a great store, check it out! read more

I recently went in for a silver/blonde highlights, I booked with Molly. 100% recommend her. She did an awesome job lifting my hair to the right color. ZERO STARS for the manager at this store (Tracy I believe is her name). When I checking out I had a question about the Ulta Credit Card. She was rude and acted annoyed, and did not apologize for not being able to help with the issue. She took a phone call in the middle of the conversation and shouted across the checkout area. Not sure how I have forgotten to write a high-5 for this store, since I've been going for several years. I usually find exactly what I am looking for, whether it's the newest "have-to-have-it" piece of make-up from Smashbox, Benefit, POP, Two-Faced, or Ultra Moisturizing Shampoo, Conditioning Mask, Fabby Bling for the hair, sexy candles, and nifty travel items like dry shampoo, hair wipes, individual nail polish removers, tiny mascaras, little mascaras, travel toothbrushes. I have found the sales clerks to bit a bit on the sad, bored-to-death look, or alot of times don't -even -want -to -be- there vibe, but i rarely need assistance to look around, espcially the sales shelf where I generally find 75% off goodies (yesteday I found some amazing cocomut body butter, Redkins men's set, face cream, hairbrush, travel items - all 75% off). I have use this location many times before. It has all of the basics as well it's a very clean store. The reason that is one is different than other is their staff. I have come in a couple times and met with a couple different make up personnel to find a new foundation for myself. One of the ladies Shelly from the benefits counter was super helpful and help me try on a bunch of different make up even though not all of it was from her line. She also gave me the best skin care tip I've ever had for my super oily skin. If you want people that will really help you and listen to you and your skin care needs this is the place to go. read more

I couldn't believe how messy this Ulta was when I walked in. I tried to find a product before my facial with Danielle K (the only good thing about coming in here) and the customer service was awful. The girl could not help me at all and called for a manager (i forget her name I believe it was Christina or Christy) and she was just as useless and flat out rude. Could have cared less about me. On a more positive note, I had one of the best facials ever with Danielle. She took her time and was so pleasant to speak to about my skin. She really wanted to better my skin. Unfortunately, with the lack of customer service and respect by the floor staff I will NOT be returning to this Ulta. Very interesting. Since I wrote my first review in March, remodeling began. And ended. I had a couple 2 and 3 star visits in the late Spring and early summer. I don't think it had anything to do with the remodel, just apathetic employees. Now the remodel is complete. The new store is beautiful. In the last two weeks, my last two visits were completely 5 star. They have all sorts of cool new services, like the Benefit bar, where they do great eyebrow shaping, for a very reasonable price. Other cheap thrills like this abound. Excellent customer service. Really great shopping experience. Maybe there was a turnover in staff. A revitalization training. I went here at the beginning of the month while this location was closed and was only doing online pickup orders. I was on my way to my mom's funeral and had to stop by to pick up an eyebrow pencil because I broke mine that morning. I guess I didn't look thorough enough on websites about the location being shut down. I was stressed because I was already having a bad day. Associates lack empathy, sympathy, understanding. Reading through the other reviews and seeing the employees often bully and intimidate customers isn't new, I felt like I was in high school again. They took my phone and ignored me when I asked for it back, I wasn't able to take pictures with my family or of the moments I wanted to remember. The manager was nice, understanding and made me feel better but I still can't shake this experience off. If you're a customer that can stand up for yourself without being a bully or disrespectful Id recommend this place but if you have problems with confrontation or can't be assertive I wouldn't go to this location. read more

Went in today for "It" BB Cream.. They had a special that with your purchase of the cream, you received a free brush.. The store was set up with 3 locations of the cream well stocked .. the problem was no brushes .. I did ask the sales clerk and she said they ran out yesterday which tells me it was fake advertisement to have plenty of the cream but no brushes .. she had no idea when any more would be in stock.. Why today was my last visit ever to this store - previous reviews was from a month ago, and encountering the rudeness I did today sealed my decision. While getting my eyebrows done today the man doing them complained on that little microphone they talk to each other on that he was thankful for having tweezers that worked on retinol users. I tried Ulta for the first time for my hair and was recommended to Caitlin. I have naturally curly hair and it is very difficult to find someone who "knows" curly hair. She knows curls in and out and it helps with her background once being with a well known curly salon on the east coast. My color came out beautiful and my curls lay so nice! Caitlin knows her stuff and she is very easy to talk with. I have received multiple compliments with one even being from my husband who rarely comments on my hair! I look forward to seeing Caitlin again for all of my curly hair needs!! Also-Kelly at the brow bar is awesome! Very knowledgeable with Benefit products, makes sure you are happy with brows before you leave, and nice to chat with. I received compliments for the first time on my brows after seeing her. This place needs to work on its customer service. I was at Ulta brand make-up counter and the lady at the register asked if I was ready - my back to her and about 20 feet away - calm down eager beaver you will know when I'm done. I did ignore her so she comes and asks if I need help. Every 3 minutes some one came up to ask if I needed help. If they leave me alone I will likely buy more stuff and it isn't a friendly "can I help you". Once I made my way to pay for my items, the lady just gave me my money back (at least count it back since I gave you a bigger bill) and keep the attitude. I was extra kind since I know how it is to work retail and maybe she was having a bad day but honey you are a glorified cashier so settle down! I'll stick to Sephora or online purchasing. read more

Lily at the Ulta Beauty Salon saved my hair. From having lots of color, highlights, and bad haircuts previously Lily really saved it. I wanted to add more curl back in my hair. Amir is AMAZING! He helped me find the perfect lipstick!! Another associate was "assigned" to help me but it was clear that she really didn't want to be helping a 50-something find make up. After she made several non-enthusiastic attempts, she just sort of drifted off. That's when Amir approached us and asked her what I was looking for. He really listened to me- for some reason lipstick turns really pink on me, so something that looks neutral on the display will end up being way too pink on me. So Amir takes me to the dark brown section of the lipsticks and pulls out one that looks black- no kidding- and it is a perfect neutral red/brown on me! Amazing!!! And he did it with a smile and genuine helpful attitude! I will be back and will ALWAYS ask for Amir's advice and help! Thank you Amir, you made me feel beautiful and special today! read more

I went to Ulta in Desert Ridge and was really disppointed. I came in to get my hair trimmed about forty-five minutes before they closed. When I came in there were two stylists sitting in the waiting area talking to the receptionist. They asked if I had an appointment (I didn't) and then told me they couldn't take me so late, which was fine. Then one of the stylists, an older gentleman, found it necessary to lecture me for a good five minutes on how late it was, which I thought was terribly rude. It's a shame, because I work and live very close and was hoping to find a good salon in my area. read more

To whom it may concern, I am writing this review to address my recent visit to your pv store. The story goes like this.... At approximately 7am mst, I received a text message, from my gorgeous wife, that she needed me to stop at one of your stores. She was in dire need of some face dirt makeup crap. After a prompt reply of, "yes dear" I was on my way. Once arriving at the said location I was greeted promptly. And I began my trek through your, seemingly endless, store. Luckily I received instructions on where the item is located, when asked to go to said store. I arrived, after what seemed like an hour, at the item needed. After the treterous endeavour, I made my way to the front counter. This is where it gets intense. I was face to face with a young teen girl, maybe 17 years old. I placed the item on the counter and she rang it up. It was then that she said something that took me by surprise and completely offended me. She asked me if I had an "Ulta card?" completely flabbergasted I replied with "Do I look like the type of man to have an Ulta card?" In a snide and offensive tone she replied that, "I would be surprised how many "Men" have Ulta cards." In essence I feel as though your employees need more training on what a "man" is. I entered your store a burly 6'5" 275lb tree stalk of testosterone. I reeked of caveman, sex and beer. No man carries an Ulta card. There is 1 card in my wallet and it's aptly called my "MAN CARD". To drive my point home I have included some references as to what a man is. The dirt under my nails was from pounding bolts into a 80 story skyscraper, not painting my face with mascara. The calluses on my palms are from pushing locomotives up Mt. Everest, not from rubbing shea butter on them. The scent of caveman, sex and beer is not Calvin Klein. And the boots on my feet are not dirty from a pomeranian licking them. They are smeared with the blood of dead terrorists and giant tarantulas. I appreciate your time and attention to this matter. This review goes for this store, but honestly could be about multiple Ulta locations. For the past two years every time I stop in to get Bare Minerals in Bisque they are out. The people working in the store could care less when you ask about if it's in stock and give you an offhanded no. Not I'm sorry it's out of stock, can we try to help you find it in another store, online or select a similar product. Pitiful service. And how can they consistently be out of the same product over and over. Need new replenishment buyers that actually know what they're doing. I finally just went to Macy's to get the product and it's in stock - Imagine that!! And the people working there are helpful and courteous. I was price-gouged at the beauty salon for the last time! I have been going to a stylist at Ulta for about eight months. When I originally went, I asked for a hair cut ONLY; no styling or blow drying and expected a charge of $25 - $30.00. Once in the chair, the stylist quickly gave me not only a cut, but a shampoo and a blow out then the ticket for $41.00. I could have challenged the price, but saw no sense in causing a ruckus because the haircut was good, I did question the price since I had asked for and was only expecting a cut, but the stylist explained to me the higher price was because she was a "master" hair stylist and that's what her going price was. Disregarding my instincts and since I liked the cut, I decided to spend the extra money and continue on with her about every five weeks. The haircut and shampoo takes her approximately 30 minutes start to finish as my hair is short, and there's not much of it! On my last visit, this stylist shampooed, cut and then proceeded to blow dry my hair. At the end of the session, she said "oh, by the way, I got a promotion". "That's great" I replied. She then laughed and announced the price for that day's haircut was $46.00 (this because she was promoted to a "senior" stylist, whatever that means). Note she did not tell me about the price increase BEFORE the session. I had a choice: pay the price, or cause a fuss. I paid the $46.00, but she certainly got no tip! Ethically, this is not a good business practice. I have twice been deceived by this one stylist. She won't get a third chance! From comments at the register, I assume her Management condones this practice. I will never go back. read more

I made a quick trip to Ulta with my 2 month old baby in her stroller. Before I got to the door the sweetest lady had the door open for me. She helped find exactly what I needed and checked me out. I've been going to this store for years and am so happy they finally renovated and brought this store up to speed with the rest of the Ulta's. This Ulta still has their salon that uses Redkin products and now a Benefit Brow bar. This store is a lot more organized and thus easier to find the products you are looking for. Not a bad store but the products on the shelves and the testers are incredibly messy and every time I've come here there is always at least one thing I need that they don't have stocked. So quantities are limited and employees are often aloof, several times they have lost out on potential sales because I've had a question about a product and there were no associates around or available to talk to, even after waiting around a while. They do have some good deals though, nice rewards for Ulta members, but things can add up quickly. If you don't like the idea of spending so much on beauty products they usually have sample sizes that will last quite a while on the shelf ends and then also at the very front where you wait in line for the registers. Skin care samplers, lip tint packs instead of spending $30 for just one color, and smaller versions of larger palettes, would totally recommend! read more

OK, this is going to be long but I've wanted to post a review on Ulta many, many times and I am finally getting around to it. I am not a fan in Ulta in general, but especially this location. Items are not well-organized here and I often spend a lot of time hunting for things when they are not where I expect to find them. For example, if something is on display (esp. drug store brands), they place it at the end of a shelf or in a middle aisle instead of where the rest of the items in that brand are found. Specials are misleading (e.g. buy one get one 1/2 off doesn't count for sale or clearance items but the fine print doesn't say that). I've been overcharged several times where I didn't find out until I got home that the sale price didn't come up on the register. The sales staff are incredibly rude. I always have to hunt them down to ask a question and when they are gossiping with their friends, they act like it is a huge inconvenience to do their job and help me find something that has moved. They are frequently out of stock on advertised items and their return policy is terrible compared to Sephora (I rarely return but they always give me a really hard time, even when I've had a reaction to a cosmetic). Honestly, the only reason I even come here is when they have 20% off specials on their overly priced items, it makes them reasonable and it's only 2 miles from my home--the only reason I really come here. The Peoria location is much better, but Sephora is better than both for those items that both Ulta and Sephora carry--and they are helpful and give free samples. Sephora, why do you have to be over 10 miles from my home? read more

Ulta is the lesser stocked more mainstream version of Sephora with more access to drugstore cosmetics and high end cosmetics as well. If you find your bathroom running low on what ever makes you look oh so pretty get one stop shopping for sure at Ulta. One reason I really like going to Ulta is they offer more variety of products than grocery stores, and sometimes drugstores as well. It's hard to leave the store with out spending a ton of money because I tend to go crazy for everything I find in there. The salon at this location is really nice as well, but it's a bit to high from my price-range. read more
