I just recently moved to the Gaithersburg Area and was looking for a place to get my eyebrows done. i was not disappointed ! The GPS takes you to the street next to dunkin' donuts but it's located in the strip mall with a big sign next to Advance auto so you can't miss it. I walked in was greeted and smiled at , which I appreciated . I was a walk in and other had an appointment but they worked fast . This is by far the best threading i've gotten. She worked slowly on my eyebrows and took her time and applied soothing aloe afterwards . Usually when i leave browart they do a good job but I am left hurting afterwards . Not here I am a ok! Yes I know beauty is pain but oh well. This will be my regular place for my eyebrows . Thanks Yelp! read more

I went here with a friend who is Indian. We both had our eyebrows threaded by the same woman. She went first, and the woman spent nearly 20 minutes working on our brows. I was so impressed! I mean at the mall they barely spend 5 minutes!! Then it was my turn... I'm not indian. She was done in 5 minutes. I had to ask her to pull out 3 hairs that she missed. The good news is it's way closer to my house than the mall, and it was only $11. And it was slightly better than the mall. I'll try another person next month. *****3.5 stars***** I usually come here to get my eyebrows threaded since it is pretty close to where I live. They do a good job shaping/cleaning up your eyebrows. However, if you are in a rush, this definitely is not the place for you to go to. Threading takes about 20 minutes. Other locations can do just as good of a job in half the amount of time. There is usually only two ladies working the threading stations at a time, so depending on what time of day you go, you can be waiting awhile before your turn is up. BTW- they do not take AMEX despite what the signage says on the door. read more

I refuse to go anywhere else! I've always had an issue getting my eyebrows threaded because of a scar in the middle of my right brow. Usually, ladies will try to thin out my brows because of this. Gina is the only lady in Maryland that I trust with my eyebrows. I've dealt with many threading places and recently I've been trying to let my eyebrows grow out in certain spots. Most beauticians think they know best and would thread off extra hairs that I want to keep, but she listens and takes direction very well and caters to what you need. Ravithi (RAY*WIH*THEE - probably misspelling her name - sorry!) did a great job. I read reviews and saw a few other pictures on Yelp that convinced me to check this place out. The salon is next to the New York Market side of the shopping center (thought I would mention that because I never knew there were little shops on that side). I didn't have an appointment, so I waited maybe 10 minutes before being seen. I am so careful with my brows so I asked Ravithi if we could examine them together in the mirror before she did anything. I let her know the look I was going for and told her to let me know what she thought about my idea or concerns. She showed me where she would remove hair, and assured me she would keep my brows thick and natural. She did just that! It was the best I've had! The price is unbeatable too - $11! I recently moved to Rockville and I was looking on Yelp for a closer eyebrow threading place than Threads in Bethesda, which is a great place just a little to far for eyebrows. The young woman who was doing the threading at Shapers Salon and Spa did a wonderful job on my brows. I was a little worried about it after reading the 3 star review but I wanted to give it a shot. I was very pleased and will definitely be a regular customer!! My advice is: 1. If you live closer to Bethesda go see Jess at Threads. 2. Used a Groupon for a facial. When I arrived on time for my appt. the place was closed. I went back 15 minutes later and the technician was there. The room was so cold and I had to ask for a blanket. The table was in a room meant for other purposes. It was dirty and very unattractive. She didn't talk to me during the whole service! She was rough and fast and the experience not the least bit relaxing. The bathroom had dead water bugs on the floor. I will never go back!!! read more

Eww! All I can say is Eww!! I went in to get a quick 1/2 leg wax. I walked in to the back room to get the wax done and noticed the floor and wall were NASTY!! They were full of sticky wax with tangled hair. I didn't want to touch the floor with my bare feet. It was just disgusting. The room is so tinny you barely have any space to move around to get your pants off. There is no table or chair where you can put down your belongings so you have to squeeze them on the table with you. The lady that did my wax was really nice and fast. She did a decent job considering the limited space she had to move around. Bottom line is that I will NEVER go back there to get my legs waxed. read more

I've gone here 3 times and have had such a great experience! The first time I went the lady whom I can't remember her name, did a great job. Then my last 2 times I went to Gina and she's amazing!!! This place is gross! I've gone twice and both times the woman threading my eyebrows was chewing on her lunch, breathing on me. Other times, I've called and if you do so around lunch time, they pick up the call, don't answer, hang up and keep the phone off the hook. I bought a Groupon and they did not honor my appointment, they would not keep the appointment I made with them, and finally they just blew me off. Not Worth it! UPDATE: (more bad customer service) Email from Shapers 5 months later: "We never had a promotion through Groupon so far. We are in the location for more then ten years and never had any such complaints from our other esteemed customers. However I am open to any suggestions which can make my customers happy." so they took my money and then called me a liar. My response: Are you for real?? So so sorry, you are correct, it was NOT a Groupon, it was a Living Social deal. Do you remember that promotion? I can send you a copy of my UNUSED voucher to refresh your memory... It took you FIVE MONTHS to address my complaint? You didn't keep the appointment and did not honor the voucher, and now you insult me by trying to discredit me? I'm SO glad you have lots of competition now. Disputing a customer's dissatisfaction is not going to generate more business - so go breathe your goat stew on your remaining esteemed customers and I'll take my money elsewhere. After I moved to the area I was desperately looking for somewhere to go to get my eyebrows threaded. Not a fan of getting them waxed and my old spot in Arlington was too far to go on a whim. I tried out every threading place I found in a 5 mile radius... mall kiosks..other salons ... but I'm now officially subscribed to Shapers. I found them quite randomly as I walked out of Patel brothers while grocery shopping and saw the salon's sign board outside. Had it not been for the sign I probably would have never paid attention or found these guys.. so yeah. the location is very discreet but the service is great. The ladies are friendly and attentive and do a great job with shaping or cleaning up your eyebrows and do a pretty good job with the herbal facials they offer. The products used are all from India from a pretty well known brand and is very gentle on all skin types. The technicians will talk to you and address your problem areas and leave you feeling clean, fresh and glowing! The prices are very reasonable... I will say this..the decor is very mundane and could definitely use a facelift.. so this is definitely not a luxury spa by any means. But if you're looking for a quick job then you really can't beat the service here. read more

I moved to Rockville, Maryland in August, 2011. For the past 4 1/2 years I have spend a great deal of money going to numerous Eyebrow Threading places in the Bethesda, Rockville, and Gaithersburg MD area. These places even though I took a picture of the eyebrow shape and thickness that I wanted totally destroyed my eyebrows by thinning them out it took months to grow them back. This place by far has been the only facility where the lady actually listened!!! I showed her a picture of the eyebrow shape and thickness that I wanted . She was patient, personable, and kind! It is a bit weird where they are located and it is also weird there is never anyone else there but I have had a good experience. This place used to be my "go-to" for eyebrow threading. However, the last two times I have been there a new younger woman has done my eyebrows & she totally ruined them. The first time the shape was off; one of my eyebrows didn't match the other. And the last & final time I went she left wax in my eyebrows, totally took off the end of one, & was rude & unprofessional. I've been going to Shapers for eyebrow threading for several years. I have very sensitive skin, and find that I have much better results with threading than with waxing (less redness, no ingrown hairs). The only time I've had to wait more than 10 minutes was on a Friday afternoon -- otherwise, I can usually walk right in. All the ladies have been wonderful, and I've never had bad results. At $22 for eyebrow, lip and chin, you can't beat the price. I noticed one of the reviews suggested that Indian customers got better service than non-Indians. The price and the quality of the work on the threading of my eyebrows was great. Zareen was $11 and she did a fabulous job on my eyebrows. The place is not the most attractive, buried behind a swim school and then an Indian grocery store. It's also sort of weird every time I've been in there there have been no other customers.
