I needed a new ceramic brush so I decided to try my luck at Ulta. I was warmly greeted when I entered to store. This store is quite big and their displays are very nicely done. It's so colorful and festive insides They had a big selection of brushes and I found f the one I wanted. It's just the right size and I love the pink marble color. There was no line at the checkout, which is always nice. There was some confusion with my rewards card. The employee at the checkout thought I wanted to open a credit card account. I just wanted her to look up my rewards card. I paid for my item. I was not offered a bag or the option to buy a bag. So I took my brush and receipt and left. Was there today around 7:30pm, it was pretty dead. 3 girls working on the floor. There was 1 girl on the registers , and she was trying to help a girl with a gift card. She couldn't figure it out, I was literally the only one standing in line for like 25 mins , while another girl who looked like the manager came to 'try and help' with the gift card. She was there for 2 secs, then left the girl alone again. They all saw me standing in line and not one of them offered to open another register and help me. I saw 2 registers open because they tried to close her on both registers so I don't understand why she couldn't take 2 mins of her time to help me check out. Management needs to straighten up this location, from the cleanliness, customer service, and stocking up on free gifts that you just advertised!!! 1) The store was a mess , no tissues, no q-tips, trash where there should be supplies. 2) Bought $400 worth of items and many of the items were supposed to have bonus items or free gifts but the manager who rang us up said there were out of stock on the free gifts or that promos ended, but there were still signs up. 3) I purchased $60 worth of Benefit product and when I asked for my free gift I was told that I needed to buy Pore Gift Product to get free items, but it does not say that on the advertisement, which I attached below, it says $45 worth of product. Ulta is a great place to find almost any brand of popular makeup these days from the celebrity lines to drugstore brands like nyx, Maybelline and revlon. This particular location is always clean and organized. Customer service is usually pretty good here. Ultra Beauty is a store location in Almaden plaza off of cherry ave San Jose area. This store location is okay to walk in for in store purchase. I do have an Ultra Beauty account which I had mainly made online purchase order for InStore pick up curbside or delivery home for self only. I have found selected products that I keep as routine purchase for self only daily self care. I like to browse in store once in a while. Salon is as well located in store but i have never gotten a hair cut at this location or of any ultra beauty stores. I had not added any other person onto my Ultra beauty account as authorized user. Purchases are not made placed for another person. Curb site online order pick up regardless of location I have used my own personal transporation to get to and from Beauty store for picking up online order as self. Never had I had another other persons accompanied of me in vehicle. Staff appears to be missing at this location and when you find them, they're extremely rude. I've been here 3 times. 1st time after looking around for what I needed for 15 minutes without seeing one staff member I left. No worries! Got what I needed at Sephora. 2nd visit I asked a woman to help me find a foundation while she was stocking items. She was so rude that when I called her out on it she actually admitted she was having a bad day and apologized. Love that. 3rd visit again, no one on the floor, after almost 20 minutes without seeing any staff I asked the young lady at the register who directed me to a woman stocking makeup, saying it was her department. If you like to shop where there are several employees in the store who are in and out of the aisles without saying excuse me as they squeeze behind you and they also don't bother to ask you if you need help then this is the store for you. I've never been in a store with so many employees who did not ask customers if they needed help. There were definitely more employees in the store than customers. Just about every item I was interested in was sold out and the store felt a bit messy. I've given Ulta so many chances but I think their shopping experience is a no from me, not a welcoming store. I only came in today because I had a giftcard. The only welcoming person was the girl at the checkout but even then while she was helping me her attention was to someone on her headset. I think because of the football game so many folks are at home watching the game. The only kleenex was on other side of the store by eyeliners....not where makeup is tested. Staff was standing around talking & not improving the store appearance or inventory. Where to begin, I came in yesterday for a basic blunt one-inch trim cut. And let me tell you I DID NOT receive that. Upon getting to the salon I was the only person there and there was one stylist there, waiting for her to notice me. 5 minutes go by and she's an eyeshot away from me just working on a mannequins hair. It was obvious she was ignoring me. I went to the front checkout desk and asked "Is the salon closed today?" to which they promptly responded it was not. They sent a manager to let the stylist know I was standing there. I ask are you guys are available to do a haircut and the stylist states she's busy and might not have time, I say no problem I am just looking for a blunt one-inch trim. She agrees to do it. She (Katie) was a nice woman, but after the cut, I didn't get much time to inspect it or stare closely. I had other errands and things to do that day and my hair wasn't fully dry/ still damp. I get back home and start examining my hair closely and realize one side is longer than the other and that 3 inches of my hair was gone instead of 1 inch. I couldn't believe my eyes, I started brushing my hair to lay as flat as I could see. I promptly went back to the Ulta to request a refund. The manager, (Jessica) was defensive, hostile, and angry. She refused to give me a refund even though admitting my hair was cut incorrectly mind you I didn't even bother to mention how many inches were taken off. She stated she "only hires the best stylists!" Well yeah right, because a basic one-inch blunt trim is not a crazy nor hard ask. She then demanded I give another stylist a shot at correcting the nightmare. I said well what if you guys mess it up again?! To which she replied then "I'll give you a refund." I stated I did not trust her salon nor her team. So now I'm stuck in this even more uncomfortable and unnecessary position. I let her "reschedule" me to just get out of there and leave. I promptly am now having to rectify this with Ulta corporate. Today I woke up and went to a high-end salon and they confirmed it was uneven and choppy, and the stylist had taken 3 inches off my hair even though I requested 1 INCH OFF. So I had to have ANOTHER half inch taken off to fix my hair. Unbelievable. 6 - 8 months of hair growth down the toliet. Take it from me if you care about your hair's length and integrity never step foot in an Ulta salon, and if you are gonna roll the dice at one certainly do not come to this one, and if you go to another Ulta salon don't be surprised if more than likely they mess it up. read more

This location used to be my favorite Ulta to shop at in peace, but I don't know if I can say it's true anymore. It can feel pretty difficult shopping for makeup and sometimes I get overwhelmed by all of the options and I end up taking my time perusing the store. Usually, the workers here are pretty friendly and relaxed, but during this visit I felt like I was being watched. Also, the cashier was not friendly when I asked a few questions about their fall haul sale. There is ample parking which makes for great shopping. Most of the employees here are friendly and helpful. The only problem is there aren't many employees and sometimes you're left waiting at the cash register for someone to ring you up which happened to me on my most recent visit. They have a few of my favorite brands like Kenra, Dry Bar, Pureology, Benefit, Philosophy. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list and loyalty rewards program.
