Just like many, many other reviewers said, this doctor is really bad: he seems rushed, bothered by questions, and only interested in offering unnecessary extra treatments that, of course, are not covered by your insurance and required extra $$$. I've had a similar to experience to many other posters here as it felt like I was inconveniencing the doctor by being there. I spend a lot of time in the sun, so wanted to do an annual review for any sun spots, moles, etc., and the doctor spent less than a minute before saying I was "fine". The experience felt rushed and not thorough whatsoever. I've also had questions about eczema/rosacea and he was less than helpful in finding an alternative to the steroid cream that I've been using for years which is no longer available. All in all, every experience felt awkward and rushed, as if he were doing me a favor, although they definitely have no problem billing you for the appointment. I've also had to follow up with the office about a prescription, and instead of calling me back they sent me a text, which I appreciated. Things became weird when they somehow texted my fiancé instead of me on a separate occasion. I'm not sure how this happened aside from us sharing the same address, but very odd for a doctors office to accidentally text prescription advice to the wrong phone number. Unfortunately, I've had several visits and it has been the same experience every time, so I'll be seeking a new dermatologist in the area. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Pierre's for so long I don't even remember when I started! Maybe 13-15 years now! I choose to drive an hour each way so I can continue to see him. I just read some of the previously negative reviews and most of them deal with Dr Pierre's political views, the amount of money it costs for his services and a few regarding the amount of time it takes to see him and his briskness or the amount of time he spends with them. I will address these (especially since he cannot). 1. If you overhear a person speaking to someone else you are not a part of that conversation! Dr Pierre always takes the time to ask me about my family, to listen to any problems I have and to talk to me about world issues. I choose to have these conversations with him and I think he's extremely educated and our views tend to be in line. However, you do not need to speak with him about anything that makes you uncomfortable. He's not going to foist his ideas on you! 2. Yes his services are expensive, but so are everyone else's when you choose elective cosmetic procedures! As for medical procedures, I don't know what doctors you're seeing, but I always get a co-pay from every doctor and for every procedure that's covered by insurance. I know he does his best to try to cover everything, but unless you're living under a rock and have no idea about these things, the insurance companies have made it very difficult for doctors to take the tiny portion of pay they offer in return for their services! Sure you can find someone cheaper, but the old adage holds true: you get what you pay for. 3. I never have to wait more than 10 minutes for Dr Pierre! That is a miracle in this day and age, as some doctors take upwards of an hour to see me and months to get me an appointment! I'm sure there are times when the office is running behind, or he's taken extra time to have a discussion with someone, etc. I'm sure there are some days when he's not at his best, because he's a human being like the rest of us and we all have bad days! In 15 years I've never experienced one, but I'm sure he has them just like everyone else. I've had a large number of procedures with Dr Pierre and almost all of them have worked very well. There are a couple that didn't do much for me, but there is no guarantee when it comes to cosmetic procedures! He was the first person to actually help my TMJ with Botox injections into my jaw! He was the only person to prescribe me something that actually helped the full body hives I was suffering with! I was so miserable and I wanted to rip my skin off - the other doctors and an allergist did nothing for me! It was a miracle and now I have that ointment to stop it whenever it pops up again. I never look puffy or filled - every procedure is very natural. The treatments and the products he has advised me to use have helped tremendously! My daughter was suffering with horrible cystic acne. Her self-esteem was suffering, and I had spent hundreds to a thousand dollars on various skin treatments. Then I decided to try a dermatologist, and after reading other reviews; I felt confident to book an appt with Dr. Pierre. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Pierre and his entire staff. The first appt instantly gave my daughter hope. Their compassion, understanding and kindness were so genuine. Dr. Pierre started with basic topical treatment and now my daughter is on oral medication. My daughter was nervous with the oral medication, and Dr. Pierre sat looked her in the eyes as she cried and truly wanted to hear her. He asked her about her concerns, he reassured her with medical information. He comforted her. We are now 3 months in and her acne is gone!!!! I was very excited to see him. He walked in looked at my face, which I had skin cancer in 2001, and said you're fine. Less then 1 minute he spent with me. Very quick barely talked to me. It was super weird. I have had many derms and never had I encountered a derm like this. It was like I was bothering him. I think it's because I have MPIHP and he gets very little $$ from my insurance. So it turns out he missed 2 precancerous spots on my face. Needless to say I will not be returning. read more

I went in just to do a checkup to make sure I didn't have melanoma or anything like that. Everyone in the office was very kind and efficient. Everything was great the doctor was kind and in a great mood. If you need to be checked or you have skin issues this will definitely be a place I would go to they have all different ages and complexions in the office if you have melanin this is your spot. read more

I used to come here years ago and had to stop because my insurance changed and I didn't have the money. I looked everywhere for a dermatologist that accepted my insurance. I couldn't bring myself to change from him. I trust Dr.Pierre and his office too much to go to someone else. This is my face we're talking about. From removing moles for my sister to helping me with sweat glan issues to now clearing my really really bad rosacea. I needed to find a dermatologist that I could trust. I wanted to find someone that I could trust with my skin and my issues. We know Dr. Pierre from our school, and from another friend. It was super easy to make an appointment on the phone. The Building is confusing at first but once you saw it then you're good. Once there I was taken back to a room and Dr. Pierre came in, we talked about why I was there and then we came up with a game plan. I am in college and don't have money just to do cosmetic stuff but he was very insightful about what I could do that would be helpful for my all-around heath. He did not just give me a medicine to take but instead gave me holistic vitamins to take. They do sell them in the office but it was a little on the pricey side. In past few years I've grown somewhat self conscious of a slight double chin I've developed. I've done plenty of research on ways to treat this and decided to go with the CoolSculpting option. I found this clinic in my home town that offers this method. At the consult I was told that I would probably only need one session, but that they would have to apply the CoolSculpt in two places on my neck in overlapping areas. I was quoted at $1500. That seemed reasonable... A week later I went in for the procedure. I was told that each area would take 45 minutes. The woman that was performing the procedure informed me of two things. She said that I couldn't move and that if the device happened to detach, she could only reattach one time without being charged the full amount... seemed a bit extreme, but ok. She also informed me that sometimes a "very rare" event can happen called a "thermal event" in which the machine detects that will some how cause damage to your skin and automatically shuts off. If this happens the attempt can not be performed again for 24 hours... I said "Ok... and how often does this happen?" She said "maybe once or twice a year". She laid me back in a somewhat awkward position with the machine stuck to one side of my neck/chin area. It was very difficult to swallow, which I mentioned. She told me that if I wanted to swallow that I would have to hold on to the device so it doesn't detach. She left the room and after a few minutes I started to get a really bad cramp from my back into my neck, with the awkward position I was in. The nurse returned and I told her how uncomfortable I was. So she tried her best to readjust me while another nurse held the device in position so it wouldn't pop off. Once I was situated in a better position, I was no longer as uncomfortable as I was at first. The nurse left the room and I was able relax, thought maybe I could even take a small nap. A few minutes later he nurse returns and says "The machine is having a Thermal Event, we gotta stop." I said "What? How?" She said she wasn't really sure why it happened, that maybe shuffling me around somehow disrupted the machine. She also told me that we couldn't try to use the machine again for 24 hours. Which made absolutely no sense to me. Somehow I was the third person to experience this "thermal event" within a year. I decided to go to another clinic to get a second opinion. I was told about a better and less costly procedure called Trusculpt 3D and that it only takes 20 minutes for the entire area and was half the price of what I was quoted for the CoolSculpt. The doctor also mentioned that this thermal event sounded like it was more of an issue with their machine not working as properly as it should... I went with the second clinic and I could not be happier. Sadly, I will not be returning to Pierre Skin Care Institute. read more

Horrible Experience. I've been going to Dr.Pierre Perterson for over a year, First, he told me I needed a series of laser treatments at $350 for my sun spots (I did two sessions) and had no results from the sessions. His next opinion was to freeze the sun spots, (did like 8 times or more at $100 each) This technique gave me noticable scars. Going back to discuss the scars with him - he wasn't passionate and in fact charged me $90 for an office visit because, "I didn't buy anything". All in all - I've spend about $3,500 and now my skin is a worse situation then first going to him. I would be very cautious with trusting Dr Pierre as your doctor with any procedures and research further, as now I'm left looking to have fixed the damage he did to my face. read more

I questioned $90 out of a $1200 bill when I was double charged for one office visit, and the response was to go elsewhere if I didn't like the billing practices. I had no intention of going elsewhere at the time but I just don't see how I can go back after a comment like that. read more

I went in today to have a lump under my armpit looked at. The office staff here is great, as are the back staff and the aestheticians. I've been a patient of Dr. Pierre's for probably 12 years or more. They are always on time. Today, they brought me back after waiting in the office for 30 minutes, which was fine, because this was unusual - as I said, they are always, always on time. I went into the patient room and sat another 10-15 minutes. In that time, I overheard Dr. Pierre talking to a patient about the COVID vaccine, the booster ("they are trying to prevent death! when the grim reaper comes, he comes, if you die of a heart attack, you die of a heart attack, if you die of cancer, you die of cancer!), also about Ivermectin (it's an anti-viral, but "they" want you to buy the 700 pill), and more venting about the government and shutdowns (you can't go out of your house!). Dr. Pierre is a cosmetic dermatologist, not an infectious disease specialist, nor an epidemiologist, and when bemoaning the cost of a pill "the government wants you to take" instead of an OTC animal medication, one could look at his prices for his services and also question those. If I came in for skin cancer, I would hope he would recommend getting it removed, instead of having it spread and have me die from it - or maybe he would he tell me the grim reaper had determined it was my time. It's called preventative medicine, right? People take cholesterol meds to control their cholesterol, people get radiation and chemo to fight cancer, people get polio vaccinations to prevent polio. It might be a good thing Dr. Pierre isn't in the life saving business. My point is, instead of looking at my armpit, he felt the need to get into a long, wordy conversation about COVID with what sounded like a very confused patient. The priority was not his next patient, it was dispensing his opinions COVID, the vaccine, the government, etc. To clarify - I could easily hear the conversation bt Dr. Pierre and his patient. I didn't have headphones to drown anything out, and I didn't have a glass up to the wall trying to hear either. What if they were talking about something confidential? In any case, I left before I was seen and left a message with the front office (on their vmail) about why. I've read some of Dr. Pierre's responses to his less than stellar Yelp reviews, and they come off as unprofessional and defensive. I'm assuming I won't hear back from the office, but ready for a little snark response here. read more

My family has been going to Dr. Pierre for several years for various issues (from acne to mole and basal skin cell removal). We've always felt well treated and cared for. For the past few years I've been visiting Dr. Pierre more regularly for what I call "beauty maintenance." Dr. Pierre and his staff are warm and open so I feel comfortable discussing my goals (mainly seeing results while still looking natural). Dr. Pierre is always pleasant and patient but most importantly he has a very gentle touch! I've heard of people bruising and swelling and that hasn't happened to me - I can't imagine letting anyone other than Dr. Pierre stick needles into my face. read more

This practice is VERY expensive. I had two small benign things remove for aesthetic reasons. The charges were $255.00 and $140.00 along with the office charge of $100.00. I have Cigna PPO which is pretty good. After insurance paid I am left with $350.97. The experience was good except for the Esthetician rushing through my facial. She kept telling me the Dr. kept me too long and she had other facials scheduled. I really wasn't with the Dr. that long. I felt like I receive a sub par facial due to being rushed. This left me felling like I was burdening the Esthetician. I arrived on time so I shouldn't have been rushed through my facial. read more

Dr. Pierre is incredible. I wanted to get my lips done and have a subtle natural pout. He made sure to do exactly that. He really listens to you and makes sure to naturally enhance what you already have. He made it painless and is so gentle while injecting. Lani, who does the treatments/facials, is very knowledgable herself, and always makes my skin glow! I used to get the silk peel along with a regular facial, and had amazing results every time!.. Dr Pierre is great and knowledgeable and has a great demeanor. I got a mole I was worried about removed and it was super quick and painless and I would recommended them to a family member or friend. Just docking a star for the front desk who demanded I pay a bill which she just barely told me about before leaving, I never even got the letter from my insurance saying it was processed and I always wait for that before paying. Statement date was literally that day I came in and the fact she wasn't taking no for an answer made me uncomfortable. It even said on the invoice I have 30 days to pay so I was confused for being put on the spot like that. I have never been to an office where they demand payment like that, it's always "do you want to pay that now?". It's very on the spot and pushy. Not to mention when I walked out she shouted across the room to my mom who was with me in the front office "EXCUSE ME MISS SHE HAS AN OVERDUE BALANCE OF $118" ... extremely unprofessional and I hesitate to return because of that lack. Dr. Pierre only cares about money. If you want a 1 minute appointment for $200 this place is perfect for you! The only skill he has is to shake your hand. This guy is the worst! Referred by my GP and it was a big mistake. He couldn't get me out of the office fast enough. He spent 10 minutes with me at most... hit a couple of places on me with the liquid nitrogen and then sends me a bill for $95.00!! That's in ADDITION to what my insurance co. paid him!!! If you want to feel like you're on an assembly line that's objective is to see as many people in an hour as possible, this is your guy. It's all about the money at this place folks. I read the yelp reviews AFTER my appointment because I trusted my GP's advice. I also notice Pierre's responses to bad reviews always start out the same... it's almost like a form letter they tweak a little bit for each one. "We're so sorry you had a suboptimal experience, especially after all these years...." blah, blah, blah. They can't even take the time to write a sincere response to harsh criticism. I notice they're never sorry for gouging their patients or offer to refund any of the overcharges. They bent me over this time... but never again. Do yourself a favor, go elsewhere. read more

Terrible experience and doctor. As good doctors know, their most important priority should be the patient and their care. Unfortunately Dr. Pierre puts money above all else and also way over charges. My daughter went in for Accutane treatment, he didn't explain the entire process appropriately. When my daughter went in for her second appointment after doing labs was told she should have come in sooner so now she would have to wait another month. He was extremely unprofessional and argued with me while never examining my daughter. Was there for 3 minutes and he charged $130.00. When I called to complain was rudely told that either I pay the charge or don't come back. As I stated he obviously only cares about money. There are so many reputable dermatologists, please don't waste your time and money going to Dr. Pierre. read more
