I wish I could give Ulta a 4 star and I just couldn't although the store is very clean(obviously its new) and the staff were all very helpful, everything was stocked my issue was with the Benefit Brow Bar. Every 3 weeks I would drive to the Benefit Brow bar in Dublin or Pleasanton and I loved the girls' work so I was very iffy about getting my brows and top lip waxed by someone new. I was very skpetical about going but i figured if I want to avoid the 45 minute drives I need to give the Tracy benefit a try. I swear I went in with every good intention however I was disappointed with my wax. The girl who did my eyebrows seemed like she didn't want to hurt me. She pulled the wax strip off way too soft which obviously wasn't taking all the hair OR wax off my skin all the way. I thought getting waxed was supposed to burn a little but this girl wasn't really putting an effort on "pulling" off the strip. After she cleaned me up and I was walking away my top lip and eyebrows still felt sticky from the wax. And sure enough after a couple of minutes I had dried up wax on my skin, which many of you may know you have to take off with some kind of baby, olive, almond oil. Not only was I sticky but when I went out in the sun and looked in the mirror I still had a little bit of hairs that she didn't get off. Like I said I had every intention to like her work just so I could avoid having to drive all the way to Dublin, but who knows I might give another Benefit employee a shot and see if they can top my last experience. read more

Nicole was very nice and did a great job on my eyebrows. This situation wasn't her fault. I made my appointment for 12:20pm because I had errands to run afterwards before it was time for me to get ready for work at 1pm. I ended up waiting 30 minutes to get my eyebrows done because the guy getting his done before me was unnecessarily picky. My eyebrows took 5 minutes. I waited half an hour, couldn't run any errands, going to be late for work, and they still charged me $21 full price. I work in customer service myself, and these Ulta employees need some extra training on how to handle these situations and should be more aware of what's going on with their customers. read more

Literally just Walked in and was immediately asked if I needed help finding anything . Walked to the cologne area to smell a fragrance I was interested in for my boyfriend as a gift for Christmas as I was followed and asked the same exact question by the same girl (I think who is the manager as well) . My hair dresser recommended a certain shampoo & conditioner from Ulta. This place is amazing! Prices are reasonable and the staff is super nice! One of the girls that works there even told me about a special they were having and it saved me $11! That's great for someone like me on a limited income. Let me just start off by saying that I have been a loyal customer to this ulta since it first opened and I'm not one to complain but my last visit to Ulta this past week was horrific. I'm a makeup artist and I always go here for supplies and just to shop for my collection as any makeup lover does. The customer service is very hot or cold here, the girls that work here don't know anything about makeup and their makeup shows it with the acceptation of two girls. For some reason I thought I would try out their salon because at first it actually seemed not to bad so I talked to one of the girls and scheduled an appointment a week in advance like they had told me to do so they would have my color when I came. (I was planning to go a light purple). So a week later I got there for my appointment with veronica. I was on time and she was 15 minutes late. She finally sat me down and they didn't have my color still but she was combing through my hair and discussing what I wanted to do. She seemed very unsure of herself like what I wanted was not achievable and told me that we need to cut half of my hair off and process it twice and then asked me if I'm sure I can't do any other color and I said no that's what I want. So she was looking at my hair and then proceeds to tell me that I have lice. I told her "look I have a very dry scalp and scratch it often, it's just dandruff, I know I don't have lice". She just kept insisting I had lice, no bugs but the nits and I've gotten lice in middle school and would have known what it would have looked like if I really had it. So I asked her if she can go get a second opinion because I know it's not lice so she proceeds to embarrass me and go tell all the other coworkers around the salon and then other customers started to stare at me, I was so embarrassed. So finally another cosmetologist comes over and looks through my hair, asked what color we're doing and said my hairs absolutely fine, it's not lice & go ahead and do my hair. He walked away and she kept this stank look on her face the whole time like she was disgusted with me. She said "well he just does brows so he doesn't even know" even though he has the same certification as her... She said she has to go talk to her manager because she already told her I have it. Her manager wasn't doing anything to help the situation either, she just starred at me like I was a subject. So she starts to put my hair up in sections like we were finally going to start and then she just flat out says "no I can't do this you have lice and you need to go to the doctor or do a lice shampoo and then come back" mind you right in front of other customers and of coarse everyone was staring at me. I was mortified and have never been so embarrassed in my life, I wanted to cry. It's one thing if I really had it but I didn't. I started to panic as if I really had gotten it, I went out and bought a nix kit just to be safe. The next day I went to a salon down town and booked an appointment with them and embarrassingly told them what had happened and if they could please check if I had lice so they sat me down and looked through it and told me it's just dandruff, it comes right off. I was so relieved! I had my hair done the next day by Brie at Mira Bella's and she did an amazing job and didn't even cut more than an inch off and she did exactly what I wanted. Im so happy I didn't let Veronica ruin my hair. I was so traumatized by this girl, I will never return to this ulta, I don't mind driving all the way to Dublin if I have to. She obviously wasn't trained properly, She should have been absolutely 100% positive that someone has lice before you defame them like that. I had no problem taking my money elsewhere. read more

Laci, is amazing. She is very professional and is one of the ONLY reasons I go to this Ulta. She not only takes care of my color and cut, she always let's me know what the best products are that I should use to maintain my hair, in between services. She works with incredible obstacles. (Constant interruptions, phone calls, etc) but always makes sure, she is not neglecting her customers. I really do appreciate her. I hope Ulta does as well. Thank you Laci! read more

Horrible experience. I was scheduled for a full highlight. Upon arrival was told she did not have time for that. She decided to do a Balayage and lighten my roots. At first it looked fine. It wasn't exactly what I wanted but it was ok. She barely trimmed my ends and I was shocked when my bill came to 220.00 prices were never discussed. 46 dollars of this 220 was for the haircut! A few days later the top of my head turned orange. I called to ask for a correction and the stylist did not call me back for 2 days. We decided I should come back in for some rework. She painted a few bleach spots to the top of my head. Rinsed it still looked bad. She then did foils on top rinsed and still not looking great but I just went with it. She then asked to cut more of my ends. This time she cut more than expected and charged me for a trim? So 37 dollars later I leave still not happy. 2 days later I look like Ronald McDonald. Brassy orange horrible. I visited 3 different salons in the bay area all were completely floored Ulta did this to me. I had to call Ulta corporate to get a full refund. While I respect the fact she tried to fix it I felt very uncomfortable when I went back and was told don't call and get me in trouble again if I fix this. It's nice to have such place in Tracy. I would be gracious with my ratings, but I couldn't deny the fact that their NYX cosmetics section was always poorly stacked. They either have a few decent selections or none at all and the opened cosmetic containers was a poor excuse of that. Their high end brand cosmetics and merchandise were always secured though which I liked since I would pay gazillions of dollars to purchase one and I would expect to get my money's worth. Customer service is a hit or miss, but nonetheless, this store carried some of the products I was looking for and I didn't have to drive across town to get it. They also have a brow bar there so that you can get those wild brows tamed. Haven't tried their salon inside either so I really can't say anything else about them, but they seemed spunky and nice (of course a little pricey for my budget). I've been a platinum customer of Ulta forever, I spend way more money there than I should, but for some reason, getting someone to help me with even the simplest requests is almost impossible! I always leave this location irritated and unhappy. Today, I tried to get the foundation that I've been buying there for months but I couldn't find it, the employee told me they have never carried it, which is obviously false, because that's where I buy it. Instead of arguing with him I asked if he could show me something comparable, he tried 2 colors against HIS skin and set one side, at this time another customer walked up and asked a question, he looked at me, pointed to the foundation he set aside, pointed to sponges and told me to try that while he walked away and helped the other person. I tried the color, didn't like it, looked around to see if I could get him to help me and saw that he had the other girl in a chair doing a full color match. So, I set everything down and walked out. When I got to my car, I called the manager, told him what happened and that every time I go to that site I'm treated like crap, his exact words to me were "Thank you for your feedback" I mean, at least lie and say you're going to talk to the employee! I think this was my last straw, I'm only going to go to Sephora from now on. It's not convenient, but I always get great customer service & leave with what I need. Bad customer service and they don't know what they are doing in regards to scheduling. Had an appointment today for their $55 special was told that since the person that I was scheduled with was a senior designer they would not honor that price. They called day before and did not tell me until I arrived. What a waste of time the last time they cancelled my appointment and when I called back to reschedule they had double booked the appt. so I was there over three hours. Went into this location to give it another shot. They had what I needed, surprisingly. The line was long and they only had one person ringing. I asked if I could exchange a mascara for the right one (mind you this was a $8 mascara) and she said there was no record of every buying it. So I said it was never used and would be an even exchange for the right one. Angelina, the girl who rang me up, said I can't do anything because there is no proof of you buying it. This is completely understandable, but she could have said it in a way that didn't make me feel like She was accusing me of steeling it or something. I've already had a bad experience at the riverbank location where no one greeted me but proceeded to greet and engage in conversation with every other (non-ethnic) customer. I came in today to get a blush brush. In minutes a rep came to help me. She was very genuine. I think her name was veronica. I wondered to the salon area. I seen $45 for a haircut. Cheryl noticed me looking and asked if I had any questions. I explained I have had horrible experiences with salons in California since I moved back from new york. I have thick wavy hair and it has been butchered and thinned out for no reason. I told her all my reservations. I also told her $45 was a bit much for a trim. She says it comes with a shampoo and a blow dry. With as much hair as I have I was sold! She showed me her recommendations for the cut before cutting which got me to trust her. I left getting a bit more than a trim. My hair felt soft and healthier. I really loved her she was very pleasant. I recommend you guys give her a shot. My Salon experience was Horrible! The professional Hair Stylist had 1 year experience, chopped 5 inches of my hair and lost all my hair length. A length which took a year plus to grow out. It's scary here! You pay extra to be treated by a professional and you get a student hair stylist to continue their education on you. Don't expect much here. Great product selection, organized store. Customer service is LAZY and RUDE! The cashiers act like they are annoyed and inconvenienced when asked questions. They don't remind you or suggest that you use rewards and they don't offer to recalculate your purchase if you don't tell them you want to use rewards. Honestly upset. For my birthday I booked a blow out 5 days before hand and got a call 20 minutes before my appointment saying that the ONLY stylist called out sick. I think that's poor customer service and poor management for not having another stylist for hair. They didn't say sorry and the lady didn't care or even seem sincere. I'm disappointed that they didn't offer ANYTHING to compensate either. I say save your $45 and spend them at a local salon and get WAY more bang for your buck. We finally get a great store in tracy that we need since there are not many places to shop here, however the unfortunate thing about having this store is I will not be able to visit it. I will have to drive to the Dublin location for great customer service since the customer service in tracy is terrible! Even the manager is rude and now I see why the other employees are the same way! Look, we pay a lot of money for these products, we need to be able to ask questions! The staff on the store needs to be knowledgeable and the manager needs to learn how to speak to customers! This review is specifically for service received in the salon. After much deliberation, I decided to get my unruly-curly hair tamed via the Brazilian Blowout treatment. After a walk-in consultation, I got a very good introduction to the treatment from Erica. She was patient and answered all my questions. I received the treatment the following weekend. She was very attentive and pleasant during the treatment which was about 2 and a half hours long. During the time, I found out that she is highly trained and passionate about her job. Its been about a month and I am very happy with the decision. I am glad that I found Erica to work on my hair. I intend to go back to her for my next treatment! read more

I was a little hesitant going to this location because of some of the comments and reviews. I am glad I went anyways. I had an awesome experience! As a new mom, i considered it a girls day out !!!! Sonia helped me and was great. She was patient with me ( I can tend to be very indecisive ) I have worn MAC cosmetics forever. After having my first baby, i noticed my face breaking out a lot more when I would wear it. Sonia helped me find something perfect. I bought something that I did not end up using. The return process was smooth and easy. The cashiers were very kind and helpful. Overall, I am looking forward to my next visit.
