Every time I visit this location they seem to be out of a lot of the popular merchandise. 3 stars only because of the lack of inventory. Also the messiness of the items. The testers are beyond gross. Honestly upset. For my birthday I booked a blow out 5 days before hand and got a call 20 minutes before my appointment saying that the ONLY stylist called out sick. I think that's poor customer service and poor management for not having another stylist for hair. They didn't say sorry and the lady didn't care or even seem sincere. I'm disappointed that they didn't offer ANYTHING to compensate either. I say save your $45 and spend them at a local salon and get WAY more bang for your buck. I came into this store looking to restock on some faves and try some new products. The shelves were poorly stocked, and the biggest annoyance was that all of the products for my complexion were out of stock (I'm tan skin with black hair). Giving 2 stars for the better selection in the drug-store section, was able to score some must-haves without trouble. Also, the line was obnoxiously long, until some lady who must have been hiding in the back came out to help ring up. After we left, my mom told me some associate was following her around and asking questions like she was trying to steal or something. Just because she's ESL. I'm glad I didn't read the reviews first. You can't win with some people. My experience today was simple but I left happy! The employees look like they take their job seriously. They're not exactly warm, but they're efficient from what I noticed. They're not unkind and that's all I needed. I also want to shoutout to Krysta at the beauty bar! She did my waxing today. I won't lie, I was nervous because she was very fast. No BS. I even felt the need to ask her how long she had been in the business. She explained, we chatted and laughed a bit. Pleasant experience. She a licensed esthetician and is very knowledgeable in dermalogica products, she knew exactly what to use on my dark circles! I was so relaxed and refreshed after!! This was my first time ever getting my hair officially done with the Ulta Beauty salon, I went in to get my pink color coverup and Elise did amazing job! She knew what she was doing and she told me step by step the process. Her communication skills with the clients are great,She was able cover the pink and leave me with very happy result. I have been here several times and they usually have the product I am looking for but the service is so-so. Most of the time I am not greeted and it's a toss up whether they'll ask if I need any assistance. I know what I want and don't really look for help so this isn't a big issue for me. I went here today to pick up eyeshadow and got in an out no problem but I'm waiting till I can get over to Macy's to get color matched for the new bareminerals foundation I want because the employees there are much more attentive. I've had many disappointing experiences at Ulta, but today I received such great customer service! I asked for help with the Anastasia brow products and one of the ladies, whose name also happened to be Anastasia, immediately helped me choose a shade and helped me decide between the dip brow pomade and brow wiz. She also demo'd the product on my brows which definitely sold me because she did such a great job! She was very nice and sweet, and her coworker, who I unfortunately forgot the name of, was very funny and sweet. There are some bad eggs at the store but there are definitely still many good ones. read more

This location is a mess. I went in to get three things. Should have been a quick errand. Instead, all bottles were opened and partially used. Spent and hour looking for alternatives, but even those came in damaged containers/packages. Went to the counter to purchase the used items I settled on, and a lotion was leaking all over the shopping bag because it was used. I was so annoyed, I just left the store empty handed. Cashier showed no interest or concern which prompted me to write my first Yelp review ever because I'm sure she's not going to report anything to the manager. Hopefully, someone in charge and who cares will read this and take the appropriate steps to rectify this ongoing issue. I would really like to come back because of its convenient location, but not if I'm going to keep leaving empty-handed or partially empty-handed. This is supposed to be a one-stop shop. read more

i'm not yelp type of girl but Definitely not happy with the salon I went in for a style for my hair to be bone straight and curled at the end and I end up getting puffy hair unfortunately I have textured curly hair so I knew I needed my hair straightened on top and I TOLD THE STYLIST 3x that my hair needed to be straighten but stylist didn't do it waste of $74 if I knew that I wasn't going to get what I wanted I would've just stayed home and did it myself unfortunately now I'm stuck with puffy hair that looks like I just blow dried it instead of it being sleek and clean. what makes it worse that I was willing to pay the money but the management didn't help much she asked if I wanted her to straighten it but why would I go back to her if she couldn't do it the first time and i told her 3 times before we even started curling my hair on top i had somewhere to be . unhappy will never waste my money on ulta salon again. read more

I made an appointment at their salon to get highlights and a cut. I made the appointment with a girl named Veronica that was recommended to me. When I left i had my hair curled and two different tones in my hair, so the only the that bothered me was the color because I had blond down below and brassy orange on top and it was not blended at all. Two days after I had my first appointment I made an appointment with her again to fix the color while awaiting my next appointment I straightened my hair for the first time and realized she had MESSED UP my haircut big time. I had asked for an A line cut but was left with a straight cut from the back with two longer pieces in the front, it was TERRIBLE (especially because I cut off 6 inches). So I called to complain, something I never do, and to get a refund but she told me I can only get a refund for my haircut and that I would have to give her a chance to fix my color before getting a refund on the color, NEVER would I let her touch my hair again after that so I just got a refund for my hair cut and ended up having to pay somewhere else to get it fixed. Please do not waste your time at their salon. In a few words... It's TRASH. read more

I went in for The Dermalogica® Skin Treatment facial. Amanda did the facial and it was so relaxing I almost feel asleep. She did a GREAT job and my skin felt and looked fantastic when I was finished. I will definetly be back! The only negative is that since it is not an enclosed room, it can get very noisy. However, Amanda apologized for the noise and was able to continue without it effecting the facial. read more

I have been here more than several times and I think it's by far one of my favorite places to go for anything beauty related. it has a variety of brands that go from high end to drug store and I find that just perfect. the only issue I have is that they don't restock weekly or bi weekly but that's isn't a big deal. over all this place rocks and the staff is very welcoming. read more

Creepy customer service. I came in with my best friend the other night to purchase a particular product I've been dying to get my hands on (luckily they had it) and we went to swatch pigments for a little bit. Over time, I noticed that the associates were asking if "I was finding everything okay" like 20 times every five minutes. They were basically hovering, like all retail associates do when they think that someone has a potential to steal based on their looks. Maybe if I had ten pounds of makeup on like the majority of these associates, I would've had a calm, enjoyable experience. It was SO annoying. This is one of the few places in Tracy that I can find the brands I'm looking for. The staff has always been friendly and greeted me, but I also require very little assistance since I either come in knowing exactly what I want or come in for seasonal sales. The post holiday sale items are often less picked over than other locations possibly because this store has a bit less traffic. This is also a good place to stop in for a little pick me up or to wander into while your guy is in Home Depot. read more

Well, I decided I'd try this place again, since my dog was getting groomed next door (PetSmart groomers are awesome btw). Imagine my non-surprise when once again I was ignored by all the staff- two of whom proceeded to ask the women around me if they were finding everything all right. The difference between myself and those women? My skin color? I was dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, sure, but not sloppy. All I can say is, I've given them two chances. So, this review is strictly for the salon, as I love the store. I made an appointment with Erica for 6:15 for a haircut on Friday, and I showed up 5 minutes early. It wasn't until about 6:30 that she came out of the back to see that I was there. Then I waited for an hour (until 7:25), I kid you not, before finally just leaving without getting my hair done. When I told her I was leaving because I had to go to work, she just shrugged and didn't even apologize for her rudeness. Not Ok. Guess I should have read the reviews before stopping here. I went in to have get my brows done last minute. Walked in and was greeted by no one (which okay not a deal breaker for me). The girl at the brow bar tells me that the guy doing eyebrows should be done soon if I'd like to wait, he interrupts her and says there is someone else available. Here's the part that really bothered me, they failed to make a comment on the fact the she's new. Now I don't know if she's just new at what she does or just with benefit but the service itself was just not acceptable. I would advise to at least let the client know or offer so kind of discount. Brows are serious. Tiana was nice, but there was so much hair left that needed to be waxed AND it took over 45 minutes (my brows were already shaped, they just needed some cleaning) When I finally finished I went to check out and Samantha just but the cherry on top to this whole experience. When she asked if I wanted to leave tip, I politely said no thank you. She then took the ticket that tiana had given me to check out and on the back put down in big writing " tip $0.00". That's just bad customer service. I understand if you have document the employees tips but never make it a point to show the guest that you made a huge deal about it. I even tried to hint to her before she asked for tip that I wasn't pleased with the service... Long story short, this place just left a bad taste in my mouth and now I have to wait for my brows to grow out so I can get them done by someone that has had experience. read more

Watch how they ring up your purchases! I am giving one star for ineptitude at best, crookedness at worst. Since the store has opened here in Tracy, I have had two instances where I discovered i'd been overcharged. Unfortunately for me, it was only after I got home that I discovered the errors. But my experience two days ago was the worst of all! I was being rung up for 7 items. One of the items was on sale but came up full price. The cashier called the manager over who said yes it's on sale and supposedly adjusted the price. But my total went UP from $132 to 156!! I complained so the manager voided it and rung it herself. The next ringing attempt came to the original $132 that didn't reflect the sale price. She said it was correct, but I had her void it and do it again. After the THIRD attempt, my total went up even HIGHER because she charged me 4 times for one item! So I had her void a third time and told her to GO SLOWLY and let me see each item price before the next was rung. She was pretty rude about it but did it that way. Guess what? My total was $117 before my coupon. And it took only FOUR attempts to charge me correctly. I'm not sure what's going on in that store- ineptitude or some kind of scam. Just watch that they charge correct amounts and check your receipt before you leave! I will be frequenting ULTA at other locations from now on. read more

Store is fairly clean and well-stocked...displays are in OK condition, but could definitely use some better maintenance. The nail polish displays always are out of order and have the wrong colors in the wrong areas. Reason for docking the 3 stars is the fact that the last 2x, they've failed to discount my purchase properly...both times b/c the ladies seemed to be rushing through the transaction. This last time, I even asked her to review my items and tried to slow her down but she sped through it and failed to discount $15 off my order! When I came back to the front, she actually tried to ignore me (I saw her look at me out of the corner of her eye and then bury her head in a drawer, shuffling things around). So I patiently and pointedly stared at her while she literally shuffled some things around and then she suddenly looks up and says "yeah, was there something wrong with your receipt?"...like I was bothering her and her shuffling project. It totally turned me off b/c she clearly and left me waiting on purpose w/o a courtesy "be w/you in a minute" and her attitude should have been completely the opposite - apologetic and nice, not rude and cold. I've also found the attitude of some staff members completely unprofessional. While I was browsing, I clearly could overhear a few employees complaining about a fellow coworker and the conversation went on for a few minutes while customers went unattended. This doesn't go for all the employees, there were definitely a few ladies who were very professional and helpful. But this last episode with the checkout lady was the last straw...I work in SF, I can easily take my business elsewhere and have a ton of options when it comes to cosmetics so I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I try hard to support local business but until customer service improves, I won't be back. On top of all this, my niece went to go get her hair dyed a fun bright color and in Ulta's salon's defense, it looked great that first day. But we saw her a couple of weeks later and unfortunately, some of the highlights had completely faded and some of them were still bright and in tact...the mismatched fading only pointed to the fact that whoever did her dye job clearly did not know what they were doing. Word of advice, double check your receipts and make sure that your discounts/coupons are accounted for...and maybe have a back-up plan in case you get them to dye your hair, b/c some of the color might completely fade within a couple of weeks. read more

Went back here to actually buy a new foundation. I give one star for the store's selection and that's it because customer service is appalling. Im not a make up expert so when I go to places like this, I expect that sales personnel will be helpful and assist with choosing what make up to purchase, is that too much to ask for? Apparently! This sales lady chose the second to the darkest shade when I am pale! But like I said, Im not an expert so I went with it, I let her apply it because maybe it was different when applied, my face just ended looking orange and totally did not match the rest of my skin and she kept insisiting it matched my neck. So I politely asked for a different shade in a different brand and I could tell she was annoyed! She didnt even want to put the foundation all over my face so I could see what it looked like! She just wanted to put a spot on my jawline and be like, "here, this is lighter". And it still looked horrible. Im going to go as far as to say, this experience ruined my day. All I wanted to do after this was go home and wash my face. Which I did! Augh, bottom line - never coming in here for make up help again. I will purchase my products at sephora in dublin or manteca or online if i have to, but I am definitely not coming back here. read more

My recent visit I was looking at Urban Decay concealer and noticed a salesperson just put out two new samples but had none out for sale. As I stood in front of the display and she came to look at it, I asked if they had anymore of the color I wanted and she replied (with an attitude) "We have a limited supply," and walked away. She did not bother to look or simply tell me there was not any more in stock. She was rude. I will take my business to Sephora. read more

First person I went to did an awesome job! :) Scheduled another appt with her. When I arrived I found out that she was no longer there. No phone call - nothing. My hair needed a cut bad. 2nd person took me on immediatley and did an awesome job. Follow-up appt with that same person - she gave me the WORST hair cut ever. Very uneven and NOT what I wanted. Took me 10 weeks to grow it out enough to schedule another appt. I must be a gluten for punishment. Attempted stylist #3 only to find out that she called in sick. I went here for the first time as per recommendation of a friend. I went to have a hair cut ( by the way the stylist the first time I made appointment didn't show up on time & behold I wasn't in the list) but still I give them a chance, came back again & of course disaster happened. I was assigned to "T" to do my hair & I heard she's the manager of the salon. I felt that I was in good hands. After shampoo I can feel that she's not totally into what she's doing. I told her I want a short layered shoulder length a soft layer to be precise! Suddenly she chopped off my hair to my desired length & I wonder how short will it be now since she hasn't started doing the layer & every time I asked her she would cut me off right away & I still hold on to the thought that she will come up for the hair cut that I wanted. Unfortunately, I got the worst nightmare of my life. My hair has been chopped off straight across & I couldn't even described the layer she's talking about. It looks like it was done by a 10 year old kid. I have to go back to my previous hairstylist & I'm glad she's nice enough to accommodate me & she can't believe how did this so called manager cut my hair. Since it was already too short the only way to save my hair is to make it a bob cut. I have to wait for years for my hair to grow back. I have no plans of whatsoever of coming back to this place... I even consider of doing my facial here. After that horrible experienced I don't think so! This place sucks big time! Lesson learned, if you already have a favorite stylist don't ever be tempted to try somewhere else. Stick to someone that knows how to satisfy their client. Three associate just stood and talked To each other about how they have road rage and they will tail gate someone on the freeway and how they get out of tickets because their fathers an officer. NEVER EVER go to Erika at the salon. My hair turned out beyond horrible, I had to call my old stylist, luckily she is willing to come in on her day off. I do not even want to go to school or work. I asked for layers, ombre and an inch off. My hair was down to my butt before and now it barely goes below my boob. The layer is horrible and choppy, it is not even layered. And I do not even know how to begin to explain my "ombre". Not ombre at all, and the blonde is not blonde. It is an ugly dark yellow golden color which doesn't blend well with dark brown. Would not even pay $1 for this. I can see if i can get the $150 I spent back but I have to wait months to get my hair back. read more
