SCAM ALERT- I let my daughter shop at Ulta on her own with her gift card she received. As she was cashing out the cashier tells her there's only 1 penny and denies the transaction and keeps the card. I over heard and asked for the card back because the cashier immediately kept it not knowing I was close. (Gift card had $50 on it) she charged 1 penny to show that's "what it has" to my daughter clearly of young age. Keep an eye on your cashiers ULTA. I was looking for a cc cream, with moisturizer and spf. I am not at all a make up girly so I rely on their expertise opinions and guidance. Major shout out to the sweet girl who assisted me. I came in for a perm, had photos and reference he told me that those perms don't exist but he could give me *waves* "Don't believe everything you see online," he said. I should've stopped there at the condescending comment. Instead I let him give me what he "could". Come To find out, he literally just knows nothing and there are PLENTY of types of perms that could give me what I was looking for. What I was looking for is called a "digital perm" which he told me doesn't exist. (It does) A spiral perm with larger rods would've had a similar outcome, as well. Now I can't do either cause they work best on healthy hair. Don't believe everything you get told by an Ulta "professional", apparently. If I can give this place zero stars I genuinely would I came in on April 14 to get my roots done as I have blonde hair, but it's not natural. My normal hair person was not available and I'm in a pinch because I have an event to go to that. I have to get my hair done so I made an appointment to have my roots done. I came into my appointment. She met me on time, but the problem is is that she took 4 1/2 hours she bleached my whole entire head, where my hair was gold. It was now white with a tint of lavender, but my roots was still black, which made no sense. The back of my head was gold and the rest of it was bleach blonde white so I start freaking out. The manager scheduled me another appointment with a more seasoned stylist to correct it on April 16. I walked in with white hair. She asked me to show her a photo of what I want, I showed her the photo of myself from prior to the first girl destroying my hair. She said OK I'm gonna get it as close as possible, which was a light golden blonde nowhere near brunette I am leaving the salon. It's April 16 and my hair is now brown. They took no accountability. It's too late to dye my hair again and there's nothing that I can do about the color of my hair I am a social media influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers and my hair looks like crap. I would never suggest going here ever because they will destroy your hair color and they will take no accountability for it. In fact they was telling me that they think I look better with this hair color, but that doesn't matter to me I don't care what other people think. I look good with I want to have the color that I want so I'm going to leave a name girl who did my hair. I'm going to post the information so that you guys can know to stay away from these people at all costs. This was my fault for even attempting to go to this salon. I never thought to use the salon services at Ulta until my favorite hair guy started working there. I met him back in the early 2000's when he was at Regis in West Covina. My hair was a mess and I needed it cut asap. Up until that point I had never had a guy cut my hair but damn his head massages were so good so I was hooked! He also has such great energy and knows what he's doing with so many years of experience. We lost touch and I was able to find him again at a salon in Long Beach thanks to Yelp so I figured I should write a review so his regulars can locate him since he's back in action (COVID had him working in another line of business for a little while). I enjoy Ulta and have shopped here as my primary location for my cosmetics and Beauty steal events. I've also had my hair done a few times here and it always comes out good. Most recently I had booked appointments a month ago for hair and makeup services for a black tie event I was attending. The girl who booked my appointments recommended I do my hair before my makeup and confirmed both appointments. On the day of the event, Ariana was the stylist who helped me with an updo. I wanted an old Hollywood hairstyle and she did a great job of creating the look I wanted. Unfortunately when I asked about where I was to go for my makeup appointment, I was told that there was no make up artist working that day and that I didn't show an appointment in their system for makeup. WTF?? The staff tried to locate another local makeup artist for me who could help at the last minute, and after calling 3 different places with no luck I gave up and decided that I would have to do my make up on my own. Luckily I am comfortable with doing my makeup, but if I wasn't I would be so screwed! I booked a cleanse, care, and define appointment with Anthony for the first time on 10/13/24 to better understand how to take care of my curls. My hair came out feeling and looking the best it had in a very long time. My hair felt lighter and my curls were more defined and lasted several days compared to how my hair gets when I do it at home. He taught me how to use my denman brush to get volume and how to saturate my hair with product. My only wish is that I thought to write down the order he used product because I can't for the life of me remember when to add the gel, after adding mousse and before brushing & defusing or after defusing. Didn't waste no time in trying to find what I needed- asked for assistance right away and after a worker called up the expertise (Bella) , she got right into helping me find what I needed. She was very sweet, skilled and knowledgeable. Got the foundation and concealer that fitted my skin tone perfectly. Ulta has a great selection of makeup, tools, perfume, and hair care which varies in price range. The only issue I have is sometimes the employees just seem to be unhappy, don't want to be there OR you just can't find anyone to assist you and you have to look for someone OR wait for that ONE that's on the floor already helping another customer. Sometimes it's for a simple question like where is this product and you have to wait until they're done (which is common courtesy of course). Ulta I guess is understaffed and it hurts your customer experience. read more
