    I want to start off with the customer service I received was very good despite this being a one star review. I am reviewing the salon for a haircut I received. I desperately needed/wanted a hair cut before Christmas and my normal salon was booked. My hair was just irritating me and weighing me down. I wanted a change. I booked an appointment here and got in relatively fast. I wanted something around my collar bones as I felt that length was flattering but I wanted some layering too. Pictures are attached of my starting length, what I asked for, and what I got. When I first showed the girl the photo of what I wanted she said "OH AN A-LINE" and I corrected her and said kind of. I like that her hair isn't drastically longer in the front. And she said she understood. I showed her the photo twice. She did the classic hairstylist thing where they turn you from the mirror so I could have some big reveal when it was done and we chatted while she worked. At one point I snuck a look and realized how much she had chopped off vs what I wanted and it was a very drastic a-line (picture "can I speak to the manager" memes) and she kept giving me more and more layers. I was trying to not cry. And I know most people would freak out but I am pretty soft spoken and was more worried about her getting hurt that I was upset than my hair being wrecked. I told her I didn't want anymore layers and that was enough and that I needed the front pieces trimmed as I said before I did not want just my front pieces long because I didn't want an a-line. I'm not sure I would even classify the photo I showed her as an a-line. I'm sure she could tell I wasn't happy as the rest of the appointment was extremely quiet. Rather than complain in the moment I was a fool and paid and left. I cried in my car. I facetimed my boyfriend and my sister. Both were shocked. I'm not one to go and ask for a refund on a service but the more I looked at it and tried to style it the more I cried and angrier I felt. I kept going over the appointment in my head. I showed the girl the photo twice. I explained what I liked about the haircut I wanted. It was a week before Christmas and I was feeling the ugliest I ever have. So I decided I needed to go back and ask so I could get some type of extensions to hide my hair. The two managers I spoke to were very nice and understanding. I showed them the photos and they weren't sure what went wrong communication wise. Ulta has a dumb refund policy where it has to be approved at a district level and if you receive a refund you can never receive any type of service there again. So if I did get my brows done at the brow bar (at any store) I would be pretty much banned from doing so because I was unhappy with a haircut. I told them I didn't care and I just wanted a refund. They were able to waive it at the district level and just gave me the refund then because they wanted me to give the salon another chance. This is never going to happen but I appreciate the thought. Another really nice thing was a different stylist was in the salon while I was there speaking to the managers (if the haircut fits) and she offered to spend some time with me for free to show me how I can style my hair so I can like it and offered to do that for free before any parties/holiday events I might have. I didn't have time to take her up on this and at that point I didn't really want anyone touching my hair. The aftermath of my hair cut was crying every single time I styled my hair or clipped on my extensions. I just stopped doing it because it just sucked having to hate myself every time I looked in the mirror. I know that sounds dramatic but hair is such a personal thing. Everyone says it's not that bad until it happens to them. Thankfully I work from home so I've been able to avoid heat and just let it grow. Unfortunately my hair grows slow. It's barely at my shoulders now. Long story short- got the worst haircut of my life despite showing my stylist a photo twice of what I wanted. Everyone was very kind from start to finish. I'm not sure what happened with the girl who cut my hair. Maybe she was distracted or got the idea that we were doing a drastic A-line and just ran with that? Overall, I would not get my haircut here again even if I was desperate. Lesson learned and I will just wait for my regular salon to have availability.

After having my son nearly 4 years ago, I had so much hair loss (that's been growing in ever since..) Tanya was able to see the new growth and help plan a cut to help hide and assist those baby hairs to blend in. She has an awesome ability to know what cuts look good based on your face shape. I tend to do more bright colors/highlights and it always come out amazing and beautiful. Tanya is also a great conversationalist, even from the first meet, it's never been uncomfortable or trying. She asked so many questions about what I wanted and we looked at pictures online together to make sure she had a clear understanding of my expectations. Not only do I love how my hair turned out but she also took the time to educate me by providing styling tips, product recommendations, and hair treatments. I am so happy to have found someone who is both knowledgeable and talented. Oh, and she was super sweet and easy to talk to. I suck at small-talk and she made me feel very comfortable. I look forward to booking my future hair-needs with her!

About a year ago, I decided to color my greying hair for the first time. Having never done color before, I researched online and found Deseo Salon. I made an appointment for a consult and met the fabulous Rachel. From the moment I chatted with her, I trusted her implicitly. She understood my concerns, my hopes, and -- most importantly -- my hair. She was one of the warmest people I had ever met and our rapport was immediate. Since that time, I have come to know more about this young, brilliant stylist. She is gracious, effervescent, gentle, and interesting. I persuaded my husband -- who hadn't been to a stylist in about six decades -- to come with me and have Rachel cut his hair. He said that he now knew what I'd been raving about for months. Beyond Rachel, the salon is wonderful. They recently moved into new and upscaled quarters. It is contemporary and sleek, yet exudes a warm welcome; it is open and bright, and yet gives a feeling of privacy in each stylist's space; it is softly-scented, evoking a mood of calm and serenity, and yet there is enough bustle and enthusiastic conversation to highlight the camaraderie between stylist and client. Deseo is eco-conscious -- a place where sustainabillity feels indulgent, not austere! Being there is a restorative experience. The front desk staff is outstanding, too. On a very personal note, I want to share two quick stories. One day I arrived at my appointment and was suddenly called to a family member's medical emergency. Despite their policy about cancelled appointments, they understood, didn't charge me, and told me to take my time and that I could rebook whenever I wished. The first time my husband accompanied me, he was offered -- as is everyone upon entering -- a beverage. He requested decaf coffee which they did not have. Yesterday, on his second visit, the lovely receptionist told him that she had ordered decaf specifically because he had asked for it on his first visit. For someone to go above and beyond based on the "need" of one customer is a sign of the caring that this salon exhibits. I cannot say enough good things about Deseo. Go here! Relax here! Enjoy here! But after working with Brittany, I think the search is over! For background, I have really annoying, hard-to-process coarse black Asian hair. It can handle a triple bleach in one session and it won't turn lighter than burnt orange (and this was at a professional salon). However, Brittany was very accommodating with my color choices (and the fact that I was a new Groupon customer). She is incredibly friendly, and her expertise and recommendations after looking at the pictures I brought her turned out great on my hair. Usually without bleach it's impossible to tell whether or not my hair has been dyed unless I'm standing in direct sunlight, but the color she put on me was beautiful, even in dim lighting. My cut was a typical trim, to get rid of split ends and do some cleanup, but she did a great job in that area too. Location wise she can be a little hard to find, as the salon is located in a corner mall unit which in itself houses a number of stylist suites. But it's cozy and intimate in there, and she also uses Redken products, which I love! Pricing is a little expensive. I believe without a Groupon a cut and color for my mid-length hair would start at around $120 (don't quote me on that though, as I'm not sure what factors apply to pricing). Worth it.     I visited this shop around 6 or 7 times. The first few visits with one stylist abruptly ended when…read moreshe made a major mistake and I had to request a correction. When I pointed out the mistake, she said she would no longer do my hair, and referred me to another stylist. This was insulting but I nevertheless scheduled a correction appointment with the 2nd stylist who explained the error made by the first stylist, why my hair looked like it did, and how she could fix it. Even though Stylist 1 made the mistake which was clearly conveyed by Stylist 2, I decided to let the 1st stylist off the hook and paid for a consult rather than having a correction on her proverbial 'record'. There was nothing the 2nd stylist could do to fix it at that moment anyway and I didn't want any awkward encounters with the other stylist going forward. I just wanted her to fix my hair and then maintain it. After 3 visits with Stylist 2, my hair was 'fixed' and we were humming along. There were a few more mistakes made but nothing major and I never said anything about them. Stylist 2 indicated it would be getting easier since she'd mapped out exactly where to apply the color going forward. When I attempted to schedule my 7th visit, the salon said they were going to have to increase my fees to a full custom color rather than the partial foil I'd received in the prior 6-7 visits. I had been getting a reverse highlight applying color to small sections (low-lights, basically) which was considered (by Hendrix) to be a partial foil from Day 1. I argued that neither the process nor the time involved had changed and I saw no reason to increase my already top tier fee. I was also frustrated at being rescheduled 3 times and it was seeming as though they would rather lose a client than continue to do my hair. I'm really disappointed because my hair was getting really good and I was excited for the next visit but they rescheduled two appointments and then with the third call to AGAIN reschedule and push my appt further out, sprang the price increase on me...and that was the last straw. Their response when I indicated I would not be rescheduling their latest cancelation was "we understand your decision". You understand my decision? You didn't even make any effort to help me understand yours. And I just want to note that I didn't mention the names of the two stylists because I'm not vindictive and I don't believe in public shaming of anyone regardless of the circumstances but suffice it to say I definitely did not feel valued as a customer. If that changes, I'll let ya know.
