I have been facial enthusiast for decades and can honestly say that the 90 minute dermalogica (line of skin care products) is among the best experience I've had. This is not my first rodeo. I typically have weekly facials - less in winter. I had not had one in a couple months and read reviews on folks and chose Chloe. She is a miracle worker, doesn't push product and is so enthusiastic, positive, savvy and knowledgeable that I'm sure she would be your favorite too!! Ulta typically runs promos, so check their site for a discount. I received a sizeable discount for booking my first treatment. In the past, I'll admit I've been a little snooty about Ulta and their salon. I was WRONG!! These are folks who legit care about your outcome. I had my second facial this week which was even better than first. Again administered by Chloe. She studied with Aveda which a rigorous program and she obviously learned a ton and demonstrates her skill in every capacity. I decided to purchase some of the products used under my own suggestion. No high pressure sales. The Dermalogica line - while possibly higher priced than some skin care lines - is comprised of super premium delicious ingredients. I will slowly transition to them completely. My results we shockingly good and I'm no spring chicken either. If I win the lottery - I'll hire Chloe full time. Christine sold me an Hourglass brand eyebrow pencil for $37. It lasted 10 days! Defective for sure. When I returned it, she sold me a Sephora brand brow pencil for $16. As soon as I walked in the workers followed me not even asking me if I needed help. After figuring out what I was looking for I literally had like 10 employees come and bother me asking me if I needed help. Where were they when i needed them, they were following me non stop. One employee stood there the whole time putting her butt in my face the entire time. They are so busy following customers and talking on their headset like we all could hear what you're saying. We had appointments to get hair tinsel confirmed with text messages 2 weeks ahead of time. When we arrived today for our appointment we were told our appointments were cancelled and they couldn't take us. I was extremely upset as we were leaving for a trip and had no other time to get it done. We were told we should have called the make the appointment, and that online glitches are a usual thing. So then why even have online appointments available to be made if they aren't going to work. I have been to this Ulta several times with bad experiences. I thought maybe it was just one rude employee at first and brushed it off, but after several experiences I'm convinced it's an issue with the whole store. After not giving my phone number (for rewards) I was told that I wouldn't be able to return my merchandise if I refused to give that information which is straight up a lie. They are consistently out of whatever I need that day. They offer to order it for me, but then what's the point of a store?? read more

There's a guy that works here, he's the friendliest and most knowledgeable associate this place has; go to him if you must even go here. Ulta has become so ghetto with EXTREMELY RUDE employees (and manager) who don't have a bit of actual knowledge of the products or motivation to find the answer. I want to start off with the customer service I received was very good despite this being a one star review. I am reviewing the salon for a haircut I received. I desperately needed/wanted a hair cut before Christmas and my normal salon was booked. My hair was just irritating me and weighing me down. I wanted a change. I booked an appointment here and got in relatively fast. I wanted something around my collar bones as I felt that length was flattering but I wanted some layering too. Pictures are attached of my starting length, what I asked for, and what I got. When I first showed the girl the photo of what I wanted she said "OH AN A-LINE" and I corrected her and said kind of. I like that her hair isn't drastically longer in the front. And she said she understood. I showed her the photo twice. She did the classic hairstylist thing where they turn you from the mirror so I could have some big reveal when it was done and we chatted while she worked. At one point I snuck a look and realized how much she had chopped off vs what I wanted and it was a very drastic a-line (picture "can I speak to the manager" memes) and she kept giving me more and more layers. I was trying to not cry. And I know most people would freak out but I am pretty soft spoken and was more worried about her getting hurt that I was upset than my hair being wrecked. I told her I didn't want anymore layers and that was enough and that I needed the front pieces trimmed as I said before I did not want just my front pieces long because I didn't want an a-line. I'm not sure I would even classify the photo I showed her as an a-line. I'm sure she could tell I wasn't happy as the rest of the appointment was extremely quiet. Rather than complain in the moment I was a fool and paid and left. I cried in my car. I facetimed my boyfriend and my sister. Both were shocked. I'm not one to go and ask for a refund on a service but the more I looked at it and tried to style it the more I cried and angrier I felt. I kept going over the appointment in my head. I showed the girl the photo twice. I explained what I liked about the haircut I wanted. It was a week before Christmas and I was feeling the ugliest I ever have. So I decided I needed to go back and ask so I could get some type of extensions to hide my hair. The two managers I spoke to were very nice and understanding. I showed them the photos and they weren't sure what went wrong communication wise. Ulta has a dumb refund policy where it has to be approved at a district level and if you receive a refund you can never receive any type of service there again. So if I did get my brows done at the brow bar (at any store) I would be pretty much banned from doing so because I was unhappy with a haircut. I told them I didn't care and I just wanted a refund. They were able to waive it at the district level and just gave me the refund then because they wanted me to give the salon another chance. This is never going to happen but I appreciate the thought. Another really nice thing was a different stylist was in the salon while I was there speaking to the managers (if the haircut fits) and she offered to spend some time with me for free to show me how I can style my hair so I can like it and offered to do that for free before any parties/holiday events I might have. I didn't have time to take her up on this and at that point I didn't really want anyone touching my hair. The aftermath of my hair cut was crying every single time I styled my hair or clipped on my extensions. I just stopped doing it because it just sucked having to hate myself every time I looked in the mirror. I know that sounds dramatic but hair is such a personal thing. Everyone says it's not that bad until it happens to them. Thankfully I work from home so I've been able to avoid heat and just let it grow. Unfortunately my hair grows slow. It's barely at my shoulders now. Long story short- got the worst haircut of my life despite showing my stylist a photo twice of what I wanted. Everyone was very kind from start to finish. I'm not sure what happened with the girl who cut my hair. Maybe she was distracted or got the idea that we were doing a drastic A-line and just ran with that? Overall, I would not get my haircut here again even if I was desperate. Lesson learned and I will just wait for my regular salon to have availability. read more

If there were half stars I would give them 2.5 for the simple reason that they had 2 employees that were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The rest gathered and gossiped in a corner and didn't ask if you needed help or even acknowledged you. The inventory always seems to run low at this location. But it's always a great day when you find what you're looking for. Other than that it's a clean store and the line moves quickly. read more

Ulta's costumer service is the absolute worst I've come across. They basically only copy and paste a policy that doesn't have any bearing on what your actual issue is. They lie to you on the website about shipping times during checkout. If you pay for expedited services to get to you the same week, customer service will tell you that oh, actually, it's going to ship at the same speed as a standard shipment you're SOL. Also, they will lie to you about when your order actually ships out. My order supposedly shipped out on Tuesday, and still hasn't been received by UPS by Friday. Complete garbage. read more

They do not have a automatic door button, so it very hard as a single person with a stroller to get in and out, or if you are handicap and by yourself without assistance from others it's impossible to get into the store. There was one person working the floor and four people standing behind the counter. No one asked if I needed any help and when I hunted someone down, to ask about Nars bronzers the alleged "manager," Beverly rushed me over and was SO rude. She didn't know if Nars was animal tested, which is fine if you don't know but could you find out?! I work in the customer service industry. When someone asks me a question I don't know the answer to I find someone who does! It it also relevant that the store was NOT BUSY at all. After Beverly rushed me over to the Too Faced section she followed me around like a shoplifter. Where was this attentiveness when I needed help trying to purchase these costly items? The cashier didn't know how many points I had (I shop here a lot), was more interested is selling me a credit card and gave me the wrong change! $90.14 I gave her $100.15 and she thought this was the most difficult thing ever. Customer service at his worst! Go to the Ulta at Orchard Town Center- much better. Samantha, was great! She helped me pick a shade and a new foundation that I never would have thought to check out. She didn't rush me (I hate to dilly dally so I don't even take that much time anyways!) I went in this morning to pick up nail polish. Gal behind the counter never looked up to acknowledge my existence (Jahalia according to the receipt). When she finally did acknowledge me, she asked for my phone number, I told her I did not have an account. At that point she told me that without an account, I would not be able to return the product even if it was defective in anyway. I'm sorry that I didn't just leave the store without the $9 nail polish. I've worked retail most of my life and that is no way to get return business. Either Ulta's policies are messed up, or employees get zero training on customer service (which seems to be plaguing this country). I will never return to an Ulta store. Next time I need nail polish, I will go to Walmart or Sally's (where it will probably cost me half the amount). read more

Every time I come here, I wait in line a minimum of 15 minutes to pay for my purchases. The last time it happened, I had been in line for 20 minutes. The line was 12 people deep and growing as two sales associates attempted to solve a problem with a customer's loyalty card. Seriously, it took two of you to tell this lady to call corporate??? People in front of me and in back of me were visibly growing irritated. Finally someone who appeared to be a manager came to the front and now we had three people assisting ONE customer with an issue that honestly could have been forwarded to their 800 number. When the customer finally left, the manager stood next to the empty register puttering around with some merchandise and staring at people in line but made no move to open the extra unmanned register and relieve the pre-holiday crowd. Meanwhile, I counted three employees over at the cosmetics counters just standing around gossiping. When I finally arrived at the register to pay for my stuff, I suggested to the associate that maybe when the lines are so long, a manager should open up the third register or call cosmetics counter assistants to the front to help. She just smirked at me and responded, "We can't do that here." Umm ok. I'm a retail manager myself and when my store gets crazy busy, it's all hands on deck. When a line is snaking all the way to the back of the store there should be no registers empty! Retail 101, people. In a nutshell, I would rather pull my own fingernails out with pliers than shop at this location again. I don't have 9 years to wait in line to buy a few tubes of lipstick. NEVER come to this location for a hair cut or color. The woman who cut my hair is not only far past retirement, she told me that if I wore makeup and lost some weight in my face I would be pretty. Then she quoted me $175 for a base color job I needed apparently. Her breath wreaked of alcohol and she dry razored my hair without asking leaving me with the worst razor burn of my life. For this store's management: PLEASE REEVALUATE WHATEVER INVENTORY SYSTEM OR EMPLOYEE YOU USE. This place almost NEVER has products stocked on the shelf. It's very frustrating for someone like myself to know exactly what I want and to see that yet again, out of stock. This literally happens time after time after time. I live right down the street from this location, so I was thrilled when this opened up because the next closest store is way off 120th & 25, but what a disappointment. Honestly, this is my home ulta store and I really am happy with the service and products I've received. -1 star because it's not perfectly stocked 24/7, but there aren't many Ultas up North so it's to be expected. Aside from that, every time they were out of something, I'd come back to it stocked in a few days. I usually come here with my toddler and as much as I try and corral him, he just LOOOOOVES all the "pretty colors" and by the time we leave he's either swatched his whole face pigment or is trying to run away while we wait in line. The women who work here have always been so kind and non judgmental for me being "That Mom" in the store(other shoppers are a different story!). Went in here this morning wanting a new foundation and lipstick for my wedding in two weeks, the sales associate girl was a benefit make up artist I'm assuming?, but was extremely rude and unhelpful. I felt like she was very apprehensive to put make up on me after I did t like the first foundation she tried, she was cold and short, also didn't even offer to put it on my entire face, just a small patch on my cheek. I mentioned not knowing much about lipsticks because I don't wear them, she made a rude comment about "there's not much to know" about them. I was over it at this point and left her chair, I ended up buying 100$ worth of make up on my own without any other help. I felt very lost, no other assistance was offered. I decided to get my hair trimmed the day I was in the store. Huge mistake! I had never been to this salon and thought I would give it a try. It's just a simple hair cut, what could go wrong!? My stylist was Kara. She seemed really nice and we held a conversation, but she did NOT cut my hair even. I have natural curly hair and she round brushed it dry when she styled it. I didn't notice how uneven my hair was until I got home and straightened my hair. There is a very obvious difference in the length of my hair. It looks awful! I spoke with the store manager at 9:30 am and she said she would have the salon manager call me back. No call back so I called the salon around 1 and was put on hold for 5 minutes, then was disconnected. I called back and Lauren was laughing when she answered. I don't find this experience amusing in the least bit. I wasted time out of my busy day to go back to the salon for a 2nd time and this chic wants to laugh!? I came in at 2:57 and my appointment is at 3. They told me it would be 15 more minutes. I am going to demand my tip money be reimbursed and try to get a refund for the entire cut. I don't suggest using their salon. In fact, I don't suggest going to this location. I also experienced sales associates hovering over me and was asked multiple times if I needed help. It was not a pleasurable shopping experience and felt like they were stalking me. I'm not aware of Ulta associates receiving commission so I'm not sure what the stalking was all about. If your store has a shrink problem, you are going about it the wrong way. It's 2016, people don't like to be hounded or feel uncomfortable when shopping. That was until my horrific experience with Crystal ripping off a piece of skin under my eyebrow. This is ridiculous, to top off the visit I bought a gift for my boyfriend that was a beard kit and the packaging was so beat up and a mess that I decided to ask Bev the manager if there was more in the back and she said no, when I went to check out I asked if there was a damage discount and the checker was rude and said no and asked Bev again and she rudely replied that's how the packaging is. I came here once in December and they were out of EVERYTHING. I thought "Ok, right around the hoidays..I get it". But when I asked for help no body knew how to help me, and then when I checked out there wasnt anyone at the counter, because everyone was standing around chatting with each other, and even when they saw me stand there they didn't move. Eventually one broke free.. Second experience....I came in to find some NYX matte lip cream. COMPLETELY out of what I wanted. Staff was low, so the cashier was all panicky and wasn't in the best mood. I asked when they would have more, and she told me they are having a hard time getting more in because of the holidays...but...its going to be FEBRUARY in 4 days..
