i literally got yelp because of how upset i am about my haircut. Summer did my mom's hair (a cut and a balayage) yesterday and it went smoothly. so i was thinking that today would be fine. i showed her SEVERAL reference photos of how i wanted my hair to look, only for her too cut it far too short and make me look like a boy. i already have insecurities so this haircut makes me feel so much worse about myself. i dont understand how she could mess up so badly either after all the references i had. read more

Just moved to the area in the last 6 months and as a mom of 2 little kids, I have little time to spend on myself. When it came time to think about a haircut, I decided to give Ulta a try. Specifically, I wanted to get bangs and when I made an appointment with Lisa, her energy and enthusiasm reassured me about my decision. The salon actually opens 30mins before the store which is great during this quarantine. Anyways, I could not be happier with the haircut Lisa gave me. I will def be back!! read more

Having been a loyal customer of ULTA for a few years now, I can say I've never left with a haircut I wasn't happy with. I've also had my color done a few times, from tips to all over color to ditch those grays, the ladies are quite skilled. They are skilled in the products they sell, and very friendly. I will say I'm picky about my hair and don't let just anyone.touch it, and I haven't a single gripe. Appointments are suggested as its a busy place, but certainly worth your time. read more

I was a bit nervous about stopping at this store after reading all of the reviews but I just have to share my experience. I stopped in for 3 specialty items that can't just be picked up at Target- I called ahead to be sure they had them and the lady who answered the phone was really pleasant and helpful. I stopped by and was really pleasantly surprised. The staff was helpful, friendly and fun to talk to. I watched as they interacted with other customers and they were kind and helpful to all. Everytime I come here I have bad service from the employees. This time, my daughter asked an associate about peel off masks and where she could find them. She showed her the first mask down an aisle and said it was a good one. My daughter looked at the product and she said excuse me but this one is a wash off one, I was looking for the peel off kind. The associate then 'huffed' and pointed to the other side of the store and said 'those are over that way, you just need to look for them' then walks away. Frustrated we walked over and started looking, another associate asks if we needed help and she then showed her several products and ones she likes to use as well. If she had not helped her, I was just ready to walk out. Many of the employees are so snooty. read more

This is the Ulta I frequent for things such as hairspray and other beauty essentials. I like that it's a one-stop-shop for that sort of thing. I want to give them more stars....but once I was here looking for something specific and asked a staff member who happened to be standing in the expensive cosmetic section for help. What I needed was not in the expensive cosmetic section but the staff person wouldn't walk over to the department store grade cosmetic section to show me where the item was. I am rating on just the salon experiences I've had. The store is fine, slightly larger than a few other Ultas I've been to, and MUCH more busy on weekends. Back to the salon- the gals are nice, but I'm not paying solely to have friendly conversation. I have now tried this place twice in the last 6 months (with two different stylists) and the haircuts were terrible. This last visit has left me with the worst cut I have ever had. I am usually not picky about my hair- I always keep it the same, "just trim up the ends and make the framing I have around my face blend". I didn't come up with that line- I was given it by my old stylist that I, sadly, am too far away from now. So I've been trying for awhile to find a stylist that gets my simplistic approach to my hair (and doesn't set me back $100 each time). My first trip here left me with uneven layers and an uneven color. It wasn't bad enough to have redone, but definitely didn't leave me feeling like I've found "my soul-stylist". This time around I had a coupon for 50% off a haircut. Given my last experience I was hesitant, but I'm such a sucker for good deals (aka cheap). I sit down, give this new stylist my "line" and settle in for a quick trim. I should have known something was up when the conversation abruptly ended and she starts cutting my hair furiously (after already drying it) and her brow was in a constant furrow as she's muttering "this part just doesn't want to cut right". Short story long, I walked out of there with two distinct layers all around my head and a few square (yes, square) chunks all throughout the back. I can't even bring myself to go back to have them try to correct my hair as I'm afraid that I'll get another chop job. Maybe the stylist I find to fix this mess will be "the one"... read more

I really don't enjoy this store anymore. The checkout in the front corner instead of mid-store is an improvement. But the product testers are often missing, empty, or just old and disgusting. Not fresh. There should be more guidance to customers reminding them not to stick their dirty fingers into the products or apply them directly. I saw teen girls actually putting on lip gloss -onto their lips - right from the applicator. Ugh. The perfume section doesn't have testers for some new scents, just the same old ones we have smelled a million times. Lots of things are sold out, newer nail polish colors, makeup, etc, are all very picked over. Feels very run down and drugstore, even in the 'prestige' area. I had an interesting experience at the Benefit brow bar. The gal who did my brows was a lot of fun. But the stool was a torture device, why make it so uncomfortable?! And it is awkward for the gal to work on us when we are seated so high and wobbly. The brows I left with were well groomed but she used so much dark pencil and powder I looked like Groucho Marx with big black square brows. (My hair is not black). It made for a fun selfie, before I washed them off and put on a more natural look. read more

Ulta is a mix of a couple different types of stores. First, there's the 'drugstore' section, which is basically makeup and skin supplies that you'd find at Target. Prices are slightly higher than Target (comparable to a Walgreens, I'd say). But, when I went there were quite a few brands on good sale (buy one get one free). So, I'll probably pay attention to their ads and go in to stock up when my staple products go on sale. Second is the hair supply section. It has higher end brands, like Paul Mitchell, etc. Prices were similar to other salon/hair supply stores i've been to. Third is the nail section. It contains higher-end brands (OPI, Creative Nail Design, etc.). I was pretty impressed by this section - I haven't found another store that has such a varied selection of higher-end nail products. Fourth is the 'Sephora-like' section of the store. It doesn't have the selection of Sephora, but does have some of their brands (DDF, Thomas Roth, Too Faced, etc.). I'd definitely prefer Sephora. Lastly there's a small salon in the back. Don't waste your money. I went there expecting a professional haircut by a "master stylist" since I hadn't been able to get to a salon for over a year. I brought a picture showing a short cut that was fluffy & feathered over my ears & in the back - not a short pixie cut. Summer asked me to keep the picture on the counter so she could refer to it. Unfortunately it is apparent that she never looked at the picture because the cut I got did not resemble the picture in the slightest. I might as well have gone to Sport Clips & gotten a man cut because that is what she did to me - super short over my ears & scalped in the back. I am more than disappointed & will never recommend Summer since she clearly ignores the wishes of the client. What a waste of money ... read more

We have gone to Ulta several times. Their selection of items that we use was convenient for us. One day this winter we went to pick up some Paloma Picasso and Fekkai Glossing Cream. I had been doing some minor things in the yard so I was wearing nice jeans and a clean Carhart coat. I stopped in the mens fragrance section and was immediately offered help by an employee. I declined with a "No thanks, I'm just looking." Within a minute the same employee offered help again. I really was just browing while my wife picked up her items so I politely declined again. I thought "that's strange." When the employee then stood at the end of the aisle staring at my actions I realized what was going on. OMG. She wanted me out of the store and was sort of being obvious about it. My wife even saw it from another section. In previous visits we were treated just fine, but I had been dressed differently. I was now made to feel ashamed. It was really horrifying. We won't go back. read more

I really don't like this Ulta, but it's the only one near where I live. The customer service here is HORRIBLE. No one ever comes to greet me, nor do they greet you at the door. Yet they all stand there talking to each other. There was this one time I had to WAIT to talk to the employees because all 4 of them were standing in the circle just talking, and they didn't even acknowledge me until I had to speak up. Like are you serious? It's common sense that a customer needs your attention if they're looking right at you and are not standing next to the cash register because obviously I had no intentions to be checking out any time soon. They never care about their customers. Their products are ALWAYS gone. I'm a big fan of nyx cosmetics, but they are ALWAYS out of stock. And I mean always! They need better employees. Instead of worrying about your make up, you guys should worry about improving your customer service skills. I've never had to rate a place so poorly. Another recent experience I had: since this Ulta is the only one close to me, my cousin (who is well educated in cosmetology, hair, beauty, whatever you name it), she told me to go buy blue shampoo because they had a deal 2 for $20 (I currently have highlights right now) & when I asked an employee where the products would be at, she didn't give off a friendly vibe. The way she talked to me was harsh and she questioned if my cousin even knew what she was talking about (what blue shampoo is used for). She questioned if my cousin was also a educated/certified as a cosmetologist. Like really?? The only thing I asked was where I could find the product. I knew what I was looking for and WHY I needed it.. Once we got to the product, she kept questioning me if i know what to use it for & why. & at this point I was getting irritated with her attitude and her questions. Why would I doubt my cousin when I know she is educated in this stuff and she's the only person I allow to ever touch my hair. I ended up getting the blue shampoo and purple conditioner (because they ran out of blue conditioner). When I was ready to check out, she decides to mention that she can probably find the blue conditioner somewhere in the store. At this point I'm just like whatever and want to leave the store already. I hate coming into this ULTA because I always feel unwanted. I walked into the store on my bday and was NOT greeted. I had to approach a worker myself when I had a question. As I was deciding between which Naked pallet to get, I turned to my side and see the older woman who worked with Too Faced/Benefit (i forget which one but she's old) and she gave me the NASTIEST look ever. I was so in shock so i moved over. Even as i was moving to the other aisle i could see from my side view that she was still giving me a nasty look. I've never felt so unwanted in a store. read more

Amazing store! Clean, organized and easy to find items. Super helpful and friendly staff - especially Amber! My friend and I happened to start looking at Lancôme BB creams and Amber helped me compare colors, match what my skin tone needs and proceeded to cleanse my face too and try a bunch of different products! I shopped at this Ulta location last week and the service was terrible. While at the checkout counter the girl ringing up my purchases never even looked at me! She was looking everywhere else seeming quit irritated and put-out. At one point I even purposely stared at her instead of scanning my card to see if she would look. She never noticed and we would have just stood there if I didn't go ahead and swipe my card. Also, there were at least 4 employees walking around the store and I was never greeted or asked if I needed help. In fact I didn't see them greeting or offering help to anyone in the store. This is not my first bad experience at this Ulta location but it will be my last. I am only writing this review as the customer service has consistently been poor. There are other cosmetic companies that value their customers and they will be getting my business in the future. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. I left feeling so irritated by the unprofessional and unhelpful staff. I came in with my sister to buy a gift for our other sister's birthday. Even though there were probably 4 workers at the door, NOBODY bothered to ask us and help us find what we were looking for. We knew what we wanted but weren't sure of where it was in the store exactly. We came in with more than an hour left until close but no one even bothered to help us because they were more worried about their "big event" that was happening the next day...We asked a worker where the product we were looking for was located--she just pointed in the general vicinity and didn't even take the time to walk over and show us where it was! We asked another woman after because we could not find the product and she, again, was too preoccupied by their big event that was occurring the next day. My sister and I felt absolutely disrespected as customers. Even though it's somewhat close to closing time, your customers should be your NUMBER 1 priority, NOT an event happening the next day. We ended up buying the product only because it was a gift for our sister's birthday--if I was just looking to buy items for myself, I would've walked out empty-handed without a doubt. Slimy sales people who say anything to make sale regardless. They talked me into coming in on a beautiful summer Saturday to waste my time on their trashy URBAN DECAY "event" for giveaways prizes and discounts. Uh no,.. That wasn't the case- nothing was offered not even a snack tray or a cookie. They made me stand around for an hour when I was scheduled for 1:30 makeover. Then this old pregnant hussy named Kim covered in really bad tattoos (which is shame cuz I appreciate good ink) made like I was lucky to have her because she was the director of this event for Urban Decay (UD) and she then applied makeup to me with the worst colors and complete opposite of what I told her I liked!! Gave me the green zombie look. No mascara, nude lipliner, blush wasn't even nice. Went on and on about how they were better than all other companies makeup lines and tried to explain the benies of their peptides but couldn't explain anything scientifically cuz she said she always has trouble explaining it... I never used UD before and just wanted to try it. When we were done and she held up the mirror (should let you see in the mirror the whole time) I wasn't happy but told her good job. Then she asked me what I was going to buy, and I said "nothing today" and that's when she said "you're not even going to buy one thing" in the snottiness rude tone. I replied that I liked a couple things but I would think about it b4 buying their $40 mascara, etc. THEN SHE DIDN'T GIVE ME A SINGLE SAMPLE just because I didn't buy anything. I noticed the other reps giving out products to their people and they were getting lots of nice samples but I got nothing!!! She had sized me up as a big spender but didn't make a sale because I wasn't impressed so she got NASTY! read more
