Stylist: Kim Boatman - May 1, 2023 appointment This is a review for Kim Boatman only. She is an independent contractor and is responsible for herself. It does not reflect on the others at the salon. In the 4+ months I placed my trust in Kim B., she has demonstrated a complete lack of accountability in the form of disrespectful and inconsiderate behaviour, rudeness and a lack of skill, despite working the industry for many, many years. On May 1, I was there over an hour early for my 11:00 appointment, (my miscalculation), , due to a shorter than expected prior appointment. I notified Kim that I was early, just in case she could accommodate, but told her I was fine just reading my book. She responded that she had a 10:30 haircut, so I read my book and checked out the product displays. When Kim arrived for her 10:30, she saw me checking out the products. I greeted her warmly, and was very surprised when she barely acknowledged me and looked art me in a very hostile manner. I attributed it to a bad morning, however, when her 10:30 client arrived, she greeted her very warmly and enthusiastically. This made me wonder how my appointment would go, but since I'd had this appointment for five weeks, I settled in and waited. Eleven O'clock came and went. At 11:20 I checked with the front desk to ask if anyone else was available. At about the same time, she beckoned me over, so I decided to stay for my appointment, albeit feeling pretty unsafe. I changed my foil to partial and canceled the haircut, not trusting her to do a good job. (She'd cut my hair unevenly in the previous haircut, leaving my hair 3/4 inch shorter on the right side and cut in a style that didn't match the left side. I'd already had a retouch of the hair colour, which was way off, so I didn't make a big deal of it. I told her about it casually, but her only acknowledgement was to agree that a different part wouldn't hide the unevenness. No apology, or offer to even it up when it was at an acceptable length). Once in the chair, the energy was tense, so I just pulled my. book out and.began reading. She knew I was upset, but didn't apologise or offer any explanation. Her prior appointment was a very short razored cut, which would require about 20 minutes, so I believe it was intentional. In addition, she knew I was waiting and could easily have walked over and told me she was running late, maybe offering a glass of water. But nothing but hostility. I believe she was upset that I'd left a moderate tip on my prior appointment and this was her passive aggressive way of responding. BTW, she was also 15 minutes late for my first appointment, and didn't apologise or explain at that time either. This is in contrast to when I was less than 15 minutes late and she told me she wouldn't be able to dry my hair so she could be on time for her next appointment. I left with wet hair. Why the inconsistency? Is it tipping? Does she discriminate and passive aggressively act out against clients who don't tip as much as she'd like. Generous tipping is a gesture of gratitude for a job above and beyond, and should not be an expectation. In contrast, I now patronise a salon less than a block from my house. It is a small, artistic, award winning salon with talented, ethical and conscious stylists who make me feel valued and welcome. After all, this is my "me time". The music is great, my hair colour is what I wanted in the first place, and my cut, which corrected Kim's mistake, is stellar. They offer beer, wine, good coffee, tea and well curated art exhibits. I was pretty crazy to drive to a strip mall in Burnsville, when I have talent walking distance from my home. Never again. read more

The salon itself is nice, with friendly receptionists and bright atmosphere. The reason for my low rating is based off of my unfortunate encounter with one of their stylists. But if you've found an understanding stylists working there, by all means, don't let me discourage you. I've gotten good results in the past personally but when I referred a friend, her result was quite the opposite. Stylist refused to admit fault and failed to offer any solution. My friend showed a picture of what she wanted and that was not what she got. Stylist still persisted that she did what the picture showed. Can someone please look at the pictures below and tell me they're the same?? Needless to say, very unprofessional how the stylist had dealt with this whole situation. The stylist quoted my friend for a FOILYAGE service but ended up doing just a balayage, or so she said (doesn't even look like a good-looking balayage). I hate to slander someone's name but since she refused to resolve this issue and blocked us, I will disclose it. The stylist I am talking about is CASEY OTTO! I hope other stylists will have more integrity and take more pride in their work, not just worry about making a quick couple hundred bucks off of people and brush off all responsibilities. read more

I have been going to Beau Monde Salon for a few years. Laura Walker has been cutting and highlighting my hair during that time and she is wonderful. She consults with me as a first step to make sure we both are aligned with the desired outcome. She is patient and fun to chat with while you are in her chair. Her hair washing and scalp massages are to die for (my fav part by far). The salon is professional and comfortable. I went in to Beau Monde on a Groupon offer for a hair color, wax and pedicure. I started off with Jordan coloring my hair with a partial foil. She was extremely attentive and personable, and paid close attention to my preferences before starting. I asked for sun-kissed, and I got the beach hair I wanted for my upcoming trip to Mexico. Ann did a pedicure and she's a blast to talk to and very detailed in her work. I wear a lot of heels, and it's like my feet have been re-born. Reva did a bikini wax to die for, with very little hemming and hawing (which equals pain, lots of pain). She was also very friendly and talkative, easily fending off any awkwardness. The salon in general was beautiful and the front desk staff was very helpful. I got at least 3 different beverages while I was there, so I felt pretty spoiled (: This is definitely a salon I'll return to. read more

I always go too long between haircuts. I looked in the mirror the other day, and was appalled at what had happened. My hair had grown! Anyway, I was down in the southern 'burbs for work, and decided I had to do something. Immediately. Beau Monde was the closest place that came up on Yelp, so I called and set an appointment with Carrie S. I was skeptical, since normally I only let gay men in the inner city cut my hair. Carrie was talkative and super pleasant. She shampooed and conditioned me, with a nice scalp massage. Afterward she touched it up, and flattered me about my hair. The salon is a pretty place, very spacious with nice light and lots of wood. Two days later, I'm extremely pleased with the result. I'd given very vague guidelines about what I wanted, and got something I liked. read more

After speaking with Cammie she shared that she had the wedding on the calendar for next weekend (December . Cammie is so sad that this has happened and cares very deeply for the bride. I know she would very much like to talk with her and has reached out to her.' Cammie never reached out to the bride. Also, didn't answer her phone the day of the wedding. My favorite stylist & colorist are a couple of brothers from Ireland , Shane & Patrick they are such talented guys and know what they are doing when it comes to their profession and always seem to be able to take10 years off my looks. Since I'm new to the area, I really didn't know where to go and stumbled across Beau Monde on Yelp . From the moment I made my appointment, I was hoping for the best since the receptionist was really nice. When I arrived and walked in, I was surprised how large it was. They have a lot of retail ranging from hair products to jewelry. It was a nice touch. Everyone was really nice, the receptionist, a random employee walking by as I perused their products and my stylist. My colorist and stylist was Carrie and I liked her from the moment I met her. My consultation with her about color and cut was amazing. She is a true profession who knows exactly what she is doing. I gave her my thoughts , but also gave her the flexibility to do her art. Since I moved here from La Crosse, WI, I bounced from place to place trying to find someone who could properly do my hair. It is naturally a dirty blonde and I like to switch it from platinum to light brown and everything in between. I tried a few Aveda salons, Evolution, my Lifetime Fitness Spa and had nothing but overpriced, terrible experiences. At some point early last year, I scheduled an appt with Michelle G. I like to tell a stylist the overall shade/ color combo I'm looking for and tell them to do their magic (perhaps how I had so many bad experiences?). Michelle turned my hair into exactly what I wanted in one appt! She also gives killer haircuts. Now, my friends from La Crosse want to come here and go to my salon. The salon is beautiful and the reception area is warm and welcoming, and the receptionists are always friendly. Kelsi N has been my go to for a few years now and always does such a great job. I am never very specific on what I want done but she never ceases to impress me. I show a few photos of cuts/colors I like and she works her magic. I cannot say enough good things about this salon! I am from out of town and needed to get my hair colored as I was not happy with how my stylist back home did it and I was in a wedding the next day. Beau Monde Salon is fantastic! I have had a variety of services here including hair cuts, colors and eyebrows and eyelash service. All of my services have gone well. The facility is very nicely decorated and feels fresh. The receptionist always are friendly greeting you and taking your coat and offer you beverages in the seating area. I had to find a new hair stylist and was very reluctant but I called Beau Monde and they made the transition very easy for me by finding someone right for my hair type. My hair has never looked better! My stylist put my hair on a little plan of where she wanted it to end up and I was very impressed with her professionalism, she always asks me a lot of questions about my hair and really listens and she give me great advice! read more

I had a cut and color with Kim Boatman, and the results were fantastic. I have very fine, thinning hair with a touch of grey, which seems to fight most efforts at styling. Kim took considerable time and really discussed and thought through what cut and color would look best. I let her do what she recommended, and I am very pleased. This has not been the case with other stylists. The cost is what you'd expect in a higher quality salon, but I appreciate that Kim and the other stylists at Beau Monde continue their professional development. This was my first time at this salon and I had high expectations, but I was extremely disappointed! The day of my appointment, I had waited for a long time to be seen by Amanda (hair stylist) only to be told that she wouldn't be showing up. I could've been told this when I checked in instead of making me wait there. I had even called the day before and was told that I was still booked for Saturday. Very unprofessional from her part. I was eventually seen by another stylist (Julianne) but she didn't style and cut my hair as I wanted. It seemed to me that she didn't want to style my hair. What she ended up doing was not the best. I could have done that myself at home, but I thought it would be better to have my hair styled at this salon. I was offered free products for the situation, BUT what made things frustrating was that I had a special event to go to and this situation only ended up wasting my time! read more

This place is what a salon should be! The decorations are cute, from the light fixtures to the displays. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. They are organized with how they operate: a well-oiled machine. They have a coat-check room that they evidently use your hairstylist's name to store the coat, as she took my coat for me without any questions, and when I was leaving, another receptionist went to get it, also without asking me who I was or what my coat looked like. They have a little waiting area for after you check in to sit until your stylist is ready for you and they come to take you back. While waiting, you can have a beverage or look at a magazine. They also have an adorable little bookcase for a book exchange--take a book, leave a book. I'm a bookworm, so this made me a little giddy. You pay your stylist for whatever services you receive, which I like, and if you want any hair products or jewelry, you pay at the front desk. **If it is your first time, make sure you check with the person who makes your appointment how your stylist takes payment. I didn't know this beforehand, and was lucky that I usually pay in cash, because my stylist only takes cash or check. This brings me to my stylist. She was wonderful! Her name is Terri Quinnell. I have been having a couple of issues with my hair and have been searching for a stylist to take the time to understand and work to resolve them. Well, I found her! Y'all, she actually sat down in front of me and looked me in the eye while I described my issue and what I had been thinking of doing about it. She asked me questions, made suggestions, explained things, and made sure I was comfortable with our plan before she ever did the first thing to my hair! And, while my hair was processing, she must not have had anyone else scheduled, because she sat down again and chatted about our families, etc. She could have just gone to the break room and left me to my magazine or something, but she seems to be a real people person and was a real joy to be around! Totally disappointed. I called to schedule a Deva cut which I was told would take 1 1/2 hours and the cost was $65. I had previously scheduled a cut for my curly hair (which I had to cancel) and I was told that they cut your hair and then dry it and then cut it again. When I made this appointment they said nothing except the 1 1/2 hour time frame and the cost. Showed up for my appointment with my hair straightened and I was told that she could not do a Deva cut because my hair was not in its original state, She said she could do a regular cut so I went ahead and still paid $57 for a 45 minute hair cut. Needless to say within 2 days I am back to straightening my hair because I can't do anything else with it. I could at least let it go a little curly before this cut now I have no choice but to straighten it. read more

Patrick Skelton has been cutting my hair for 5 years. Within that time, my hair went from shoulder-length, to waist-length, to chin-length, to short layered bob. What can I say, I like changing things up. I have thick, naturaly wavy hair that used to take forever to style in order to look nice, so normally I would just pull it back in a pony to save time. But since Patrick started cutting it, I can wear my hair natural or straight, it takes minimal amount of time to style (should I choose to do so), and I always get lots of compliments on how great it looks. It even looks nice when I get out of bed in the morning - who would have thought it possible? I am not big on styling products, I don't even own a single bottle of hair spray or gel. It is all about the cut. And Patrick knows just how to cut it to get me looking exactly how I wanted. He has a great sense of style and always takes into consideration not just your hair type, but also your face shape and your frame.
