I have been a loyal ULTA customer for years. All good things do come to an end! I had a great experience with Rebecca at the Benefit brow bar. She has a great personality and does a great job with my brows, however she is expanding her role and moving on to train to become a hair stylist (kudos). I am very disappointed with the overall customer service at this location. The check out lines are always too long and management does not do a good job instructing other team members to assist when they have customers waiting. I guess they don't care or realize everyones time is valuable and consumers do have choices on where to spend their money. The last straw for me doing business with this establishment is I had scheduled my first appointment for a facial with Leila after work. I rushed over there for 6:00 pm and was told she is running a bit late with appointment. I waited 10 minutes...no explanation. After waiting 20 minutes Leila came out to tell me her client had a lot of 'congestion' and was sorry that she is running late. After a short discussion she stated she would be done by 6:30 pm, so I told her I would wait for her. It was at 6:40 pm I realized that I had been duped. She double booked appointments. I really wish she had just been honest and apologized. I understand that people are no shows from time to time, however my time is just as valuable to me. Leila came highly recommended by Rebecca.....epic fail.That was a complete waste of my time. Back to Sephora I go and back to the spa I normally patronize for my facials. read more

WORKERS ARE LAZY AF. I literally asked for ONE thing for help, which was if they had an item in stock, this lady told me she would look but after 20 minutes she never came back!!! THEN I literally had to stop these two workers from YAPPING THEIR MOUTHS to ask for help. No one stopped to ask if I needed help and NO ONE looked like they even wanted to be there. PLUS, online it said that the item that I was looking for in particular was in stock, WHICH IT WASNT. Don't know if the lady ACTUALLY LOOKED FOR IT???? Or if it really wasn't in stock. I visited the salon to have my hair partially colored. I didn't expect to spend close to $150 not including the tip. The hairstylist upsold me on a couple of things she felt I needed. I was charged in addition to the color for a press and curl. She did a good job on pressing my hair, but her version of curling African American hair is quite different from mine. I was told by an African American receptionist that the stylist knew how to style African American hair. Not true at all. I did see quite a few African American stylists styling white customers' and black customers' hair, but no non-black stylists styling African American hair. I was shopping for my aunt's birthday one day who had always wanted a Chanel Coco Parfum. I had gone to several Macy's and Sephora stores around Houston that day with no luck finding it. I probably spent three-four hours driving around Houston in traffic looking for that darn parfum. Might I add that my aunt was going to have her birthday party the next day, so I was determined to find that parfum for her? Eventually, I realized it was best to call perfume stores around town and ask for the product. Goodness, lots of salespeople I spoke with that day do not know the difference between a parfum and eau de parfum. Honestly, I did not know the difference between those two categories of fragrances either until I found out that my aunt wanted a Chanel parfum for her birthday. I expect perfume salespeople to know their differences though. Anyways, I finally called this Ulta and, surprisingly, the saleswoman said it was in-stock. I really wanted to be certain the store was carrying the parfum I was looking for so I asked her if she is positive that it is a "parfum" and not an "eau de parfum", and that the liquid in the bottle is yellow. She assured me that it was the parfum I was looking for. So, I headed straight for Ulta Silverlake right after that phone call. When I arrived, I was furious to find that the "parfum" the salesperson assured me was in-stock was actually an "eau de parfum". Furthermore, the liquid color of this perfume is pink! She had the nerve to say to me, "This is the parfum you're looking for," after I told her that I do not want an "eau de parfum" but a "parfum". I also pointed out to her that the liquid is pink, not yellow. Her only response was, "This is the only kind we carry." Why couldn't she have just told me that over the phone? Why make me waste my gas and time with your nonsense, lady? All in all, Ulta's workers should probably be schooled on basic concept of different categories of fragrances - parfum, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, etc - and how to tell customers that the yellow one is not in-store, only the pink one. read more

Love the products sold here, hate this store, but it's 5 minutes away from my house! The people that work here are not helpful at all. They seem snooty and act like they're better than you. Ummm, hello, you work at a place that is there to help people. If the ladies that work here hate their job so much and think they don't belong there, they need to get a cubicle job with no human interaction. Every single time I'm here and look for new products such as a foundation or powder I have to play with the colors to figure out what matches me. Now, I understand if it's during a busy time of the day, but I usually go on slow nights to avoid the weekend crowd. I bought a foundation there one time and was checking out. The girl at the counter was so in a hurry to check me out and didn't even give me the chance to tell her I wanted to redeem my points! When I finally did tell her she gave me an ugly look and "let" me use my points. I love the Bay Brook location a lot better. The ladies there are a lot nicer and go out of their way to help you. Maybe the ladies a Bay Brook can do the girls a favor at the Pearland location and teach them a thing or two about doing their job correctly. read more

The only reason for my 4 stars is because they don't have a lot of the higher end makeup I like. I came here for some little extra gift ideas and also to get my little niece some makeup and a caboodle kit to play with. Surprisingly found all of it here. They actually had little girls play makeup for cheap! The girls at the register were really nice, especially for being as busy as they were. I don't know how much you have to spend to get this, but I got a free cotton bath robe! Hey, I'm all for getting free stuff for buying stuff you were already going to buy! The store is kept clean and even with all of the shoppers scattered in every aisle, everything is still pretty neat. I've been to stores around the holidays where everything is a mess and vultures are gathered around everything tossing and flipping and misplacing everything! Kudos to Ulta for not being like that around this time of year. I would definitely come here for some cute stocking stuffer ideas or even for some of your bigger gifts like straighteners, makeup, hair products etc... Ask them how much to get the free robe, even if you don't want it, you can give it as a gift! read more

This review is for the salon. I recently decided it would be a stellar idea to lighten my hair a few shades at home. I can assure you it was not my intention to end up with my hair the same color as my orange tabby cat, but lo and behold, we ended up twins. I absolutely couldn't leave it that color, nor was I interested in attempting to fix this mess at home, so I called Ulta. (I don't have a stylist here, and had a coupon, plus it couldn't get worse, so I figured I had nothing to lose). Tanae( I think that was her name) did a great job! She put an all over color, then highlights and low lights. She was meticulous with her foils... all said and done, I was there four hours. She styled my hair, took her time and did a beautiful job. She made me the exact blonde I was striving for. It looks really natural. Even the other stylists there and the workers were all ohhing and ahhing over what a beautiful color it is. My husband said I look like a movie star! Haha. I will definitely be back, and would recommend her highly! I also really love the makeup and hair product selection at Ulta...I have a small suitcase full of make up, and switch up my eye shadows daily. I'm always looking for new stuff...Ulta has great choices. The only product I haven't been impressed with there was their own brand of nail polish...it's very thin. They have great sales. read more

This is the worst Ulta location! The staff always seem to be preoccupied and not helpful at all. It always seem like you are bothering them. The store also never seems to have products in stock! For heavens sake take inventory and reorder. This location is 5 mins from my home, but I will not shop there anymore because I just don't feel welcome. Used to enjoy going to Ulta for my beauty supply needs and decided to give the salon a try as well. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience with the hairstylist. I told her I wanted to lighten my hair for the summer but ended up leaving with a much darker color than I walked in with. Very disappointing experiencing. It's not easy to do hair and I definitely do not recommend Candyce for ethnic hair. read more

I am about to be in a show where I need intense 1920s stage makeup, and I am fairly inexperienced with choosing makeup products for myself. I knew what I wanted, and apparently, the employee did, too! Her name was Christine, and from the moment I started talking to her, she was incredibly helpful and nice, suggesting colors and liners specifically for my skin tone, even hooking me up with some setting spray and primer for keeping it all ON during the really intense, physical parts of this show. She also could tell how young I was, and that I likely did not have a lot of money to spare as a teenager, so she helped me get the best products possible on my fairly low budget. Go to Christine! One star is really much too high of a rating for Ulta in Asheville, North Carolina. I have two daughters and we regularly shop at Ulta. We have shopped at several locations over the years. The Asheville store has absolutely terrible service! They never have enough people working. The line is always long and they will only have 1-2 cashiers working and you're just out of luck if you need help with the make-up, always short handed there too. Not to mention, they act like you're bothering them if you ask them a question. Oh yeah, and if you schedule an appointment for eyebrows or hair...you're out of luck there too! Specific examples... 1) I drove my daughter there for an eyebrow appointment. She was supposed to be herlast appointment that day. The associate explains that she has been running behind so the girl she is working on will be her last one because she has to leave on time because the store doesn't allow overtime. 2) My daughter had a hair appointment today at 4:00 with Amelia. We drive to Asheville only to be told that there must have been a mix up because they didn't have her scheduled. Keep in mind that we wouldn't have even known the name "Amelia" had we not have called and gotten an appointment. Especially since we had not been to her before or even used the hair salon in more than a year. Oh yeah...our drive is 1 1/2 hours round trip. I could go on with example after example of poor customer service in Asheville but I'll stop there. I will say that when I spoke to the manager, she was so nice to offer 25% off a service. I declined, being that I would just be wasting gas and time to get to the store only to be told, "I'm so sorry, we don't have you down" or "I'm not going to have time today." How would one be able to get 25% off on a service that you never get?!? Best advice, if you have to shop at Ulta, drive the extra miles to go to another location. I made an appointment for 7pm, feeling leary that the service would be terrible that late in the evening. Much to my suprise, I had the best experience Ive had at an Ulta all thanks to 2 great people there! Candace the store manager and my stylist Nicholas, who went above and beyond! Nicholas recognized that my extremely blonde, multi- colored hair needed far more help than he could give and sought advice from his boss Candace, instead of faking his way thru my messy hair, possibly causing and even greater tragedy :) . Candace...who had already pulled an all-dayer- set her purse and jacket down..without a dirty look or hesitation and began teaching Nick techniques and tools on how to counteract mistakes in my hair. She used it as an opportunity to train and improve and eager stylists skills. It took until closing to complete the color...instead of rushing, the scheduled my cut for another day. They absolutely did the best possible service they could. Im so impressed with the level of professionalism and care the both took. I will be a repeat client because of this one act of service.
