The lady manning the desk and taking payments was not very friendly but that only takes 5 minutes. We left the dock right on time and headed out to the reef to bottom fish. The best part about the day was how well Rich took care of everyone around us. You can tell he genuinely cares for people, loves seeing guests catching fish and is good at his job. Jessie was also friendly and helpful, and so was the captain...who surprisingly was also helping on deck. A couple of people on board caught a handful of decent sized fish but many others...including the three people in or party didn't catch anything of significant size. Most of the fish were just bait stealers. We did move a couple of times and a couple of nice size sharks were reeled in, but that was about it. Not the fault of the crew, just a bad day. They do sell snacks, water, beer and soda and that prices are reasonable. There is not much shade anywhere on the boat and several people had to go inside to cool down. Overall it wasn't a bad day but not the best boat I've ever been on.

Although the kids got seasick as we…read moreweren't fully prepared with prescribed motion sickness patches vs the ones we bought from Amazon (very important if you want a more enjoyable trip), we still had fun. They are very knowledgeable with what they do and they will fight for you until your boat docks. We literally had about 20 minutes left on our charter, and as many other charters were skunking for the day, I decided that it was just my luck and went into the cabin and get some shuteyes. A little after, I heard a yell outside and the wife and I ran out. Something caught onto the line, something big. You can see for yourself in the pictures. This made a great 42nd birthday and a bucket list with a personal best fish. Thank you again Captain Ralph and Rich for the phenomenal experience. Not only are these guys professional and experienced, but they're friendly and knowledgeable and willing to take you to their go-to places to locate lobsters in their hidey-holes. LOL! We caught 15 lobsters (7 of legal size -- we let the rest go) and had an amazing time. The dives were about 20-22 feet, but they were beautiful and there was a lot to see -- fish, coral, sea life. The boat was clean and comfortable from the bathroom to the small air conditioned kitchen area where you could seek respite from the heat. The large front desk was perfect for relaxing to and from our dive locations. Captain Ralph kindly explained the rules, regulations, etc. and we complied with everything he said. The crew were extremely capable with their dive knowledge and assisting us in getting geared up and getting our tanks refilled. They had their eye on us the whole time and we never felt unsafe at all. These guys are friendly, wonderful people offering a great service. They're flexible and amenable to whatever you're looking to do whether it be a regular dive, lobstering (in season, of course), going fishing, or staying on the boat as a B&B experience. We highly recommend YKnot as a great business, friendly people, and an all around excellent experience. Captain Ralph, you'll definitely see us again!!

I've been fishing for 45 years. I have my own boats. Run my own charters. This dude is bad all around for any fisherman. Aggressive demeanor. Assumes you know nothing about boating or fishing. Called him out on it immediately after anchoring 15 miles offshore. Told him I could help him with whatever he needed. His words. "Best thing you can do for me is to stay out of my way". Told him he was really uptight. He seemed surprised and asked me again what I said, so I repeated it. He dialed it back a bit but the tone was already set. Trying to diffuse and make things less stressful for my brother, who is not a fisherman, I spoke with Scott about his profession in key west. Told him I have vast experience with boats and fishing. He admitted that he knew nothing about fishing when he moved to FL from Fort Wayne Indiana. Asked him about some basic fishing knots. He seemed disinterested. Saw him tying clinch knots which is basic but good for light yellowtail. Asked him about his feelings on the Albright for braid to flouro. He had no idea what it was. Seconds later, my brother has a decent fish on and tells him to reel against the drag while I'm telling him to reel down and pull up. Well he reels against drag. He is not a fisherman. Scottie keeps telling him to reel...only to yell at him after he lands the fish but does not keep tension on the rod AFTER the fish is on the boat because the line gets coiled at the tip. Only guy on this planet that will tell you to keep the bail closed after the fish is on the boat as he's trying to get the fish off of the hook. It's only because he is telling his clients to reel against the drag and his line is completely sprung out. Even the novice fisherman reading this knows this is either completely wrong, or that this cap Scottie is fishing with 8 year olds every day. Also, be prepped for a 30 year old single engine boat which he admitted to. Rear gunnel not suited for offshore. 1 ft in rear. 2 in front. I gave him 100 tip only because he showed compassion for feeding a chicken some dog food at the dock when we got back. I have this entire trip on my go pro. Vid don't lie. I will await his response before I release the footage. I am now a lower keys resident so I'd be happy to meet Scott at HB for a candid conversation in person you choose. I saw your extremely offensive responses to so many other customers. I would love to discuss in person. Lots you do right. Lots you do wrong like all of us. Let's clarify a few things: You never spoke to me directly because you were communicating with my senior producer, who was acting on my behalf with clear direction, expectations, and context. This is how professionals delegate in business, and her communication was precise, informed, and well-documented. You were explicitly told which boat we had previously chartered (a true luxury vessel) and what standards we expected. That included pricing, service expectations, amenities, and that we were bringing our own catering. You confirmed that the boat you offered was the "closest match" and justified charging the same premium rate. Not once did you or your representative communicate that this vessel had: No interior bathrooms No interior cabin No professional setup Or a DJ on board, which we never approved And yes, the charter "went out"--because we had 20+ executives in Key West expecting an event. What did you expect us to do? Turn back? That doesn't make it a success. We did not book last minute. In fact, we inquired over 30 days out, which in the event production world is perfectly reasonable--especially when you present yourself as a broker with industry knowledge. Instead of saying, "nothing in that class is available," you positioned this charter as comparable. That's not last-minute planning. That's deceptive sales. And finally, the idea that the group "had fun" is a laughable deflection. They were kind, they made the most of it, and they were also disappointed, confused, and asking why this experience was so different from the last--because that's not what we sold them. I stand by my review. The experience was substandard, the service was misrepresented, and your unwillingness to take any real accountability only reinforces it.
