I hired Ultra Safe in 2022 to control my termites and carpenter ants. We entered into an agreement that they would install termite bait traps and spray for the ants. The cost was in the neighborhood of $1400. They installed the traps and sprayed. The spray did not eliminate the ants and the bait traps did not control the termites. After a year, they automatically enrolled my in a "monitoring program" for $395 annually. Being unaware that my one year of service had lapsed, they sent out a technician to monitor. Because of this I was billed. I refuse to pay the bill because they did not control the termites or the ants during our agreement. They just sent me another bill in 2025 for not paying the 2023 bill. They may be good at strong-arm billing but they are ineffective at controlling ants and termites. read more

Ultra Safe Pest Management failed to eliminate our bed bug infestation--then tried to upsell us. We paid $1,100 for two rounds of treatment, followed every prep instruction to the letter, and avoided anything that could risk re-infestation. Within six weeks, the bed bugs were back. Same areas, same symptoms. Their treatment didn't work. When we contacted them, they said the warranty only applied to the first treatment and would charge usto re-treat--despite the fact that the infestation clearly never went away. Then, incredibly, they tried to sell us a $1,200/year "pest prevention plan." They could have mentioned was an option before we originally contracted them, but no. They couldn't even eliminate the problem we originally paid for, and their response was to pitch us on an ongoing plan? That's not customer service--it's a bait-and-switch. We're now working with a more reputable provider who doesn't practice bait and switch sales practices. I'm not against a company trying to make money, but Ultra Safe Pest Management delivered ineffective service, denied responsibility, and tried to sell us more. Disappointed. We have mice. We had ultra safe come out, we were told it would be $250 for initial visit- but this was apparently just for inspection nothing was done for this visit. The man inspected and didn't tell us where spots of entry were and didn't put down traps. They then sent us a quote for $895 which included the deduction of the inspection. The price is so absurdly high - I called another company who comes recommended by a friend that provides the initial service plus 3 more visits throughout the year for about the same amount. Too expensive and nothing was done. I knew I had mice I didn't need someone to come and inspect to tell me the same with no other info. He didn't even check the upstairs or the attic and the next day we found evidence of mice in both areas. read more

This time, we called Ultra Safe because we discovered in addition to our bug issue (these guys are the only group we've found who also treat for carpenter bees), we've got mice, so we upgraded our plan with them to include rodents. They sent Gilmer to help us tackle the issue and he was not an absolute professional but an absolute angel. He was so helpful and kind, and so very thorough with his assessment! I have been an Ultra Safe Pest Management for many years, over a decade. When I first signed up for the service, everything was fantastic. Top notice service at a reasonable price. One tech in particular, Peter D., always did a great job and was very thorough. Ultra Safe would have easily been given a 5-star review from me a few years back. However, over the past few years I have noticed a steady decline in service. Emails not returned in a timely manner, no responses to requests in the customer portal, missed appointments with no call, etc. These issues coupled with a huge price increase this year, I decided to take my business elsewhere. read more

Scammed! They charge a $250 inspection fee under the premise that it would go towards services. Instead. they came and gave a nice inspection with all the wonderful recommendations but then never gave a quote for any work so I can actually get something for the $250. I emailed multiple times and used their online web portal to receive any quote for any work - at least $250 worth but never heard back from anyone. So really they are making all their money on inspections and not doing any work for it. read more

We initially had a good experience with Ultra Safe and eventually signed on for the quarterly protection program. Everyone was friendly and responsive until a few visits in and then communication totally dropped. We had a tech no-show to a visit, which was tough because my husband stayed home from work to let them in. We then saw a mouse weeks after being told there was no activity and called two days in a row for support. Both times I was told I'd hear back the same day or the next business day but I didn't get any response until 5 days later when I finally emailed. The response was unsatisfying and didn't address my concerns about the lack of communication and followup. It sounds like they're not able to keep up with demand, which is a good problem to have, but challenging for existing loyal customers. read more

Wilmer from Ultra Safe Pest did an incredible job helping us with our significant mice problem in our house here in Watertown. He looked over the interior and exterior of the house and managed to find all the entries that the mice were using. He set traps all over the house and was very thoughtful about all our considerations for safety, etc. Within a few days, our mice problem was virtually eliminated and continues to be mice free for the past 7 weeks since he came. We had to hire a service for bat proofing. We initially got a lower estimate from another company but after meeting Eric H. we did not hesitate to hire Ultra Safe. Eric was extremely patient and understanding of our concerns (read: terrors) regarding the bats and helped to put us at ease. He was extremely knowledgable, capable and personable. He is a huge asset to Ultra Safe. Eric was thorough in his initial inspection and walked us through every step of the bat proofing process. He gladly accommodated all of our concerns and requests throughout and always had a positive attitude, even on a day when he was working outside the house in extreme heat and humidity. We also were impressed with the warranty that Ultra Safe provides which is longer than most other companies. I felt that we got every bit that we paid. I am hoping I can come back and add more stars to this review. When I called today with a problem with rats in the wall making holes into our living space they offered me the plan that I had already signed up for that they had failed to put into the system. Next they asked me about squirrels as if they had not heard me mention the word rat!! They gave me the usual line about baiting traps and exclusion work which I have already done with them and said they would take this very seriously. Somehow I don't feel like I'm on the same page with them. I really want this to work. Is there a company that can actually help once the rats have bypassed the exclusion work and have entered your house? I'm not sure these folks heard a word I said ! Hoping I'll be back to report a great plan in action with this company but not feeling hopeful at this time. UPDATE: It's hard to stay angry when Tim who is so knowledgeable comes out to access the situation. Rats or Squirrels - we will see! If only everyone could avoid the management!! Further updates will appear! I'll add another star in hopes things work out! UPDATE 2: I am happy to say that we have had excellent service and luckily our problem was squirrels rather than rats as Tim predicted. It really DOES make a difference who you hire to get rid of insect pests. The first time it happened, I chose the low bid...a different company. They did not clear up the problem for 3 months...and 6 treatments...and huge disruption in the house. When I had the same problem a year later, I chose Ultra Safe, even though their price was higher. Ultra Safe seemed to know MUCH more about what they were doing. They cleared up the problem RIGHT AWAY. They were more than worth the extra money. Finally, I can't say enough good about the guy they sent, Jeff Kilian. He's a pro in every way. read more

We had a mouse issue, living on the edge of woods, and the person they sent was very thorough and worked through a crawlspace that I never ever would have ventured into. But there were a couple issues: he said that one of the remediations needed, a wire barrier about 2 feet by 1.5 feet, would require a separate trip because it's larger than what is specified in the contract and would cost $300-400. But he could do it for cash on the spot for $200. This surprised me, but I needed it done. Then at the end, he suggested another $100 because of the dirty work in the crawlspace. The contract was supposed to include a followup visit, but he never came by, even though I called Ultra Safe and they said the technician would get in touch with me. Never happened. read more

Update: 01/11/2018 After getting the opportunity to speak to the owner Vic I was able to work things out. Vic was very fair and took responsibility for some of the miscommunications. I also missed a notice as well. Vic was a true professional and really worked with me to keep my business. We were able to work out a schedule that works for both of us and I am happy to say we are still going to be working together for all services from this point forward. Vic really stepped up and showed that he appreciated my business and he was very reasonable and fair in our discussions. Please note I never had any misgivings about the services I received. Original Review: Was a customer for three years for pest and snow removal. Setup accounts with Credit Card so they never had to wait to get paid. After years of service they call me after this Christmas storm and tell me sorry we don't want to service your area now. I called the week before to make sure all was ok and even made sure to do the paperwork for service. They put me through all the steps and out of nowhere they call and just leave me hanging in a storm. This is really bad customer service. Beware of this company--they are either incompetent or thieves. I had a contract with them for about four years to for monitor and extermination of rats externally on my city property. The first two years were fine--I saw the exterminator on the days he was supposed to come, and he wrote details of the work undertaken. Last year they became somewhat erratic, missing monthly appointments, repeating reports without any new information, and being confused in general. Now I suspect that they have not shown up for months, though they continue to bill me and file generic "reports." I could go on, but here's the final straw: in early fall I noticed holes in my garden that I ultimately determined were rat's nests. Not only did Ultrasafe fail to notice or mention this in their "monthly" inspections, when I asked them to look into it ahead of an alleged appointment, their report--suspiciously identical to the past five reports--said nothing about the nest. Multiple calls and emails to the company for the past two months have been ignored, as have my requests for them to cancel the contract. They continue to bill my credit card. I'm working with my credit card company and the BBB. Do not give them your credit card unless you want to be billed forever. read more

Our multi fam property had a carpenter ant problem. Booking the appointment was very friendly, earnest and straightforward- an extremely positive experience. Total cost around $495. Exterminator came within the week, baited the nest and sprayed the exterior of the property as well as the common areas. Entire process was under an hour. Highly recommend this company for landlords and property owners as you do not need to coordinate access to separate units with tenants. The treatment is for only the exterior and common areas so they don't need to enter apartments, and extermination is effective after the nest is located. I was skeptical that one treatment would be enough, but my carpenter ant problems were eliminated within 48 hours. read more

Last night a bat was in my house, flying through my 8 year old's room. My wife and I were able to get him and my daughter, who is 4 and autistic, into the bathroom and away from the bat. I called Ultra Safe pest management, because they were listed as 24-hours. The customer service representative I spoke with told me the removal service, since it was after hours (it was 9:00pm) and an emergency, would cost $850 plus $249 and that someone would be at my home in 2 hours--11pm. I called again at 11:00, asking for an update on the timing and was told by another customer service representative that the 2-hour window was inaccurate information and that as a first time customer, I was also not eligible for emergency after hours services. So after, now, 2 hours and 20 minutes of waiting, I had to call another exterminator service to help us. I will never again call or recommend Ultra Safe. They absolutely were the opposite of helpful in my time of need. read more

My appointment today was between 1 PM AND 3 PM. Therefore I made sure I was home between 1 PM AND 3 PM. I changed plans around to make sure I would be around when the appointment was. 3 pm comes and goes and no one has come. I called the call center numerous times and no one was able to give me an answer as to why the technican didn't come. I had to cancel plans because I assumed maybe the technician was late. But at 6 pm still no one has come. THEN I receive this invoice that the inspector DID come at 10:15 am which was not between 1 PM AND 3 PM. Not only did he come he failed to do the interior where the main problem was. I receive no miss call that he was there, I received no verification that he had even come and I was CHARGED when he didn't even complete the visit. I had wanted this Saturday appointment because I can't take off of work to wait (apparently all day) for an appointment and neither can my husband. So now...are we supposed to cancel all our plans for next Saturday too? A whole week to wait for an appointment while we have mice in our house that we were hoping who get taken care of TODAY between 1 PM AND 3 PM. read more

The house is on a slab but has two 8 by 6 holes that lead under the house. Well, my wife and I noticed that one of them had the protective covering pulled off. We thought, hey it has been really windy maybe that was it. Nope. Found out we had a small woodland creature now living under our house. We tried the "home" remedies such as moth balls, radios, etc. Nothing got "it" out. Put some foot powder down one day right outside the hole. Found tracks the next morning, and those of a skunk. Yep, we had a skunk under the house. Called Ultra (after scouring Yelp). Left a message on a HOLIDAY weekend Sunday. They called back maybe 20 minutes later. I informed him of the situation and he stepped me through the entire process. Super informative. So not only did he call back during his weekend off, he spent over 45 minutes on the phone explaining what could be done, all about wildlife, etc. I was amazed. His crew came out the next day, ordered a custom one way door, and had it installed as soon as it arrived. The best part is that they did this without us having to take a day off of work. Communication was excellent, work is guaranteed, and the emailing was awesome. I cannot give them high enough praise. Professional and great customer service every time I called. I have been living in my house 30 yrs and never had a pest problem. Well neighbor cleared out part of her yard from over 30 yrs of overgrown weeds grass and trees which is located right beside me....and my house was over run with mice. I have 2 cats but they were outwitting the cats. Mice poo everywhere. Alvin came out and pretty much took care of the problem. Very professional and knew his stuff. He even removed part of my decking to get to the side of my house which they are really not supposed to do but he said where its his last job he will do it for me which luckily he did cuz there was a spot where the mice were getting in under there. He went around the entire house blocking any entrances, down in my crawl space, up in my attic....unreal. First night his traps caught 4 mice.....I hope next guy they send out is as good as him. Only problem is, they haven't followed up yet. I have traps downstairs with mice in them...he said they would send someone by in a couple of weeks but I haven't heard anything yet. Let me tell you, hearing squirrels running around INSIDE your walls and crawl spaces is incredibly disconcerting. Ultra Safe Pest Management came out the day after one of the big snowstorms this winter to inspect my roof (as best as they could through the ice dams) and were back a few days later to plug up the obvious entry points and install a one-way door so the critters could escape (you don't want dead squirrels inside the house), but not get back in. It worked and two days later all the scampering noises had ended. The inspector was incredibly knowledgeable and explained how they got in, what I was hearing and why, pointed out the evidence of their activities, and made me feel very confident that he knew what he was doing. A few weeks later, after the snow had melted a new entry point was revealed (yes, the squirrels came back). They had warned me that might happen because the snow and ice were so thick my roof could be like swiss cheese but they'd have no way to know, so I wasn't too surprised to hear the scampering start up again. But I called Ultra Safe and they came back a few days later to plug the newly discovered hole. Just this past weekend the scampering was once again back. Ultra Safe came out this morning and found a totally new entry-point and closed it off, leaving the one-way door in place so the squirrel could escape (once again, at no additional charge). I would highly recommend these guys. They were polite, professional, incredibly timely and clearly know what they are doing! read more

I just had Ultra Safe deal with my worst nightmare.... Bed bugs. I have used Ultra Safe in the past for Carpenter Ants in my home and they delivered professionally, timely and permanently, no more ants. I have a rental property on the South Shore and a recent guest introduced Bed Bugs to one of my rooms. I was horrified. The health department gets involved, beds have to be thrown away and I stay awake at night worried about a solution. I called Ultra Safe and they were there the same day. They identified the problem, treated it, re-inspected to make certain the problem was gone and guaranteed their work. The Technician was courteous, professional and thorough. The report was extremely professional and even the Health Department commented on the swift, thorough and professional job. My son, who lives in the Allston area recently identified what he thought was a bed bug. I had Ultra Safe look at it and they assured me it was nothing more than a beetle and put my mind to rest. I was thrilled as they could have sold me the moon, instead they did the right thing. These guys got the job done for me. When it comes to bugs, that's what I want, the job done. read more

I employed Ultra Safe for a rodent problem a few months ago. They were very professional, suited up for Covid, and very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, after spending $$$ on the service, the problem didn't go away. They had said they would automatically schedule a follow-up, which they didn't. I called to schedule the follow-up and when the new person arrived, he had not been briefed on the house situation and wasn't propared. He said he was going to schedule someone else to come, which never happened. He also gave me a good story about how much they care about solving the problem - clearly trained with the story because it is not put into practice. I now have the same problem with mice running around in my ceiling and need to find a new service as I have zero fith in Ultra Safe. read more

I will give them two stars for effort. They made several attempts to rid my condo association of mice, but they ultimately failed miserably. In the weeks and months after installing some traps and putting in wire nets, we continuously had a mouse problem. To their credit, they did come back when asked during the 90 day guarantee window. After that however, they really do not help. They sent a representative to install a few traps. Unfortunately, not one of the dozens of traps caught a single mouse. If you hire them, you will likely pay hundreds of dollars for about $50 of traps on Amazon and $50 of wire netting that you can buy at the hardware store. They are really not worth it. read more

I just called Ultra Pest Control to exterminate my home for stink bugs that appeared last season. They informed me that I would have to pay $145 for inspection that could CANNOT be refunded. It can only be used towards their service. However they will not give me any approximate cost even though they asked several questions such as square feet of my home, how many bedrooms/ bathrooms AND they looked online to view the specifics of my home. In other words I would pay the $145 and they could come and give me a price and if it was higher than normal I would have no way out other than losing my $145. This is unacceptable business practice!! I asked if I could speak with a technician or supervisor and was told that they would say the same thing that she was saying.I am reporting this to the BBB read more

Usually by the time you've contacted a Pest Control company you're not to happy with the world, I was definitely in that space when I contacted Ultra Safe, I'd called a couple other places after finding out as much as I could from them, but Sue just made me feel at ease so I pulled the trigger with Ultra Safe, they came out 2 days later and found evidence of what I thought I saw and began to treat. I had a thousand and one questions with enough nervous energy to fill a warehouse but the technician was able to keep his wits and answer all of my questions, in the end they explained how they would be able to treat my storage unit to the moon and back, but they had no control over what was in every one else's units, they even took the time to show me how little the facility had done to protect it's tenants, now mind you, this information was going to potentially end my business with them, but they were professional enough to give it to me because it was in the clients best interest, THIS client! imagine that a company will provide you with good information instead of taking you for a financial ride?! I'm truly grateful, this was an experience I was not familiar with and they were able to not only handle the issue but make me all the wiser, As I told Sue when I cancelled my ongoing service because I moved out of the unit "It's not often that someone will tell their Pest Control provider that they hate to break ties, but I really do!" If I ever have a need in the future, there's no place I'd ever chose over Ultra Safe. read more
