Refused to provide expert re: "What will be different this 2nd Treatment? I was shocked they would only connect me to a sect. Saying her supervisor would call back "when he has a minute." Five hours, no call! My calls to them to vm. UNPROFESSIONAL! Not willing/able to speak to variety of issues re:ineffective $375 treatment and determination of next step!! Very upsetting! Waltham Pest came to deal with our carpenter ants. Our previous vendor had sold to a national company who booked remotely and had no clue about New England issues. Waltham Pest is locally owned. They sent Tyler, who was tireless, and returned when asked several times. Carpenter ants are tricky, and he was willing to go into tight spaces, a hot attic, a dank basement and all around the exterior to treat for the ants. He was extremely knowledgeable and polite. A pleasure. We were ant-free for two years. Communication is excellent. Five stars aren't enough! Having Waltham back this year to keep ahead of our pesky ants. read more

We.called and set up a appointment for mice control. Instead of a technician coming to our house they sent a salesman who's only goal was to sell us on installing new insulation in our attic. I told him maybe in the future we could do the insulation which was quoted at $4600 . Discovered a problem with mice getting in my house . Contacted WPC control and had John come out. Had dealt with John before and he did a fantastic job with my termite problem. John arrived on time, laid traps throughout the basement, attic etc. He also pointed out some possible points of entry. Unfortunately we probably waited too long before contacting them so the problem continued because we were getting overwhelmed!! WPC honored their guarantee and sent out an animal elimination specialist. Carl and Harry came out, did a top to bottom inspection, inside and out. They pointed the likely source of food outside and point of entry into the basement. All of the technicians are friendly, professional and most of all, put us at ease. Highly recommended. read more

One of their "managers" came to our home while I was traveling on business and harrased my wife so much she was it tears by the time the guy left!! Accused us of purchasing our own ant powder....yes, available at any hardware store. Told her he was going to report us. What?!! Refused to document where he was finding ants and spraying. Demanded we provide a ladder for him. Are we not paying for the service? Bring your own equipment!! Tried to force a service contract on my wife. At least I taught her never to fall for that old grift. The Agent was abusive and very harsh. Will never use this abusive company again. Called in and reported the guy to the service desk. A few months after we bought our house, the old wooden garage door started to fall off its tracks and we realized termites were eating it from the inside out. I called Waltham Pest Control and they set up an initial inspection with John. John confirmed we had an active infestation and scheduled us for a chemical barrier treatment around our foundation. He was a pleasure to work with, easy to talk to, and always punctual. Everyone I interacted with at the main office was also friendly. The entire process was straightforward and the cost was reasonable. As part of our contract, Waltham Pest Control will come out once per year to inspect the house for a small fee and will treat again if needed. Very pleased with this service thus far! read more

Waltham Pest Control has always managed to resolve our infestation issues, so I'm a fan. Highlights: - John has visited our house a couple of times and is very pleasant to work with. Seriously a fantastic "face of the company." Five stars for John, no question. I haven't tried many other pest control companies (nor do I hope to), but my impression is that the the company stands by its work, but you have to do a little bit of work yourself to make the most of it. Obvious stuff, really, like describing the pest problem in as much detail as possible. Small cons: - credit card processing is old school and receipts can be emailed but don't always have service notes on them - scheduling is usually good, but it may help to call back and confirm the scheduled time as you won't get an email or other form of confirmation. (one time they came earlier than scheduled, which was great but unexpected) - Flat rate pricing is OK given the warranty on work performed, but possibly a bit high for the smaller problems. Because of these small niggles, I give this business a 4/5 rating. read more

Truly outstanding! We were having a mouse problem and had done everything else possible including repointing or basement and getting rim joists insulated. But we still had at least one mouse making its home with us. We dealt with both Jon and John [two different guys] and both were terrific. It was like Sherlock Holmes meets the mouse and they uncovered every possibility for where that mouse could be coming in and out of. Very friendly, very honest, very reasonable price wise. Avoid at all costs. I would give a 0 if I could. Before buying our house, we had Waltham Pest Control come out to inspect the place (cost: $175). We were told there were signs that at some time there were mice, but it had appeared old and not to worry about it. We were also told there was no sign of termites on the property... fast forward two months, we bought the house and have heard some scratching in a crawl space. We called a different exterminator who just did an inspection (for free) and noted signs of rodents, termite and carpenter ant swarmers and was shocked someone else (waltham pest control) missed these. Just over a year ago, we had ants and called Waltham Pest. When they came to perform the service, the technician put the hard-sell on my wife to sign up for an annual protection plan with 3 additional quarterly treatments. She agreed and we paid $640 for a total of 4 treatments. A few weeks ago, I asked her why Waltham Pest had not been out to perform the quarterly treatment. When she called them, they said WE needed to call each quarter to set up the appointment and basically told us that we were not entitled to ANY additional treatments since the contract period was over and we had not called. No one at Waltham Pest informed us about this requirement - certainly not the technician who sold us the contract - but the office manager said it is detailed in that really small print at the bottom of every contract you sign. So legally they got us but it that the way to treat your customers? I mean, the cost to do a treatment is the same regardless of when it is performed but even after escalating our complaint they would NOT budge and refused to honor our purchase of 4 treatments. After much haranguing, they did agree to come out for ONE additional treatment so basically we paid for FOUR and got only TWO. While their treatments are as good as everyone else's, this high pressure sales tactic followed by putting the entire onus on us for scheduling quarterly treatments left a bad taste in my mouth and I would NOT recommend Waltham Pest. I mean, my oil company calls me each year to schedule my burner service, my gutter guy calls to schedule the spring & fall cleanings, and my lawn guys call to let me know when they are doing the spring mulching. The difference is that Waltham Pest gets the money UP FRONT so it is in their interest if you forget to call as they get to keep the money anyway. You can make a lot more money when you get paid but don't have to do the work. read more

Never showed up for our appointment. We called them on Saturday, they said they couldn't get out till a week later. That was fine. We figured they were busy. They were suppose to come between 9:00-12:00. Never showed up, never called. Never got back to us with the messages we left. Never will use them. read more

Waltham Pest was recommended to us initially by my sister who had a really bad ant problem that they took care of for her. We've used them often since and never once had any problems. When we moved to our new house last year, we had an ant and mice problem that was immediately evident. I have not seen even one ant or live mouse in the house since they sprayed and baited last year. I don't know which technician the other poster had, but I would highly recommend John to anyone - he has been in the business for a long time, takes pride in what he does, is always either early or on-time, which for any service business is rare these days, and even overlooks the clutter in our basement that he has to walk over in order to do his job. Always friendly and explains exactly what he's doing as he does it. I don't have anything bad to say about this company and have no problem with continuing to use them for our pest problems. read more

I had used Waltham Pest Control since 2005 and their knowledge and service was excellent. However, a year or so ago, I had the same problem experienced by recent reviewer Charlie T. I purchased their Homeowners Service Plan and lost out on the additional service calls because I didn't know that I wasn't going to receive a reminder call so I didn't call them to book an appointment in the "allotted time". This practice of placing the onus completely on their customers, with NO warning that they will NOT be in contact with you again, showed such a disregard of caring that, for me, it overrode their genuine ability to get rid of pests. Got rid of our pest problem at our apartment the first try. Although we completed all the necessary steps to get rid of the pests, I was personally told we would not get rid of them on the first try, but it worked! Waltman answered all of the hundreds of questions I had (basically) and the tech that came over was very helpful with helping us prep the apartment and work with my schedule so that I could leave the house before they started the process. I would use this place again, but hopefully I never have to! YUCK! read more

Our initial service from Waltham Pest Control was prompt and professional. We followed their recommendations to install one-way doors in an area that squirrels were accessing internal walls in our home. However, since the doors were installed, squirrel activity has increased. Two weeks have passed, I have made three phone calls to request follow-up service, leaving a voice mail each time. My phone calls have not been returned. This level of response to current customers in concerning and unacceptable. read more

Initially they were ok- Eric who came to our house was very nice. We had heard what we thought was a mouse in our attic but there was not- He said he did find rats in the yard and near the perimeter of our house. Waltham Pest control came twice to refill the bait traps and said they saw activity. After coming out we never heard anything in the attic and did not see any rats or evidence of rats. We had to call them every time to follow up and schedule the next visit - they would come and not tell us what they did and just charged us $125 dollars every time they came out. The women who work in the office are incredibly rude and awful to talk to. We decided to stop services and when we asked them to pick up the bait traps they told us to throw them away. I have a feeling if we just stopped communicating and did not pay them the final payment they would not have even contacted us. Feel completely mislead by them. I've been a customer for about 3 years and have used them several times for general pest maintenance. I recently saw a birds nest in the soffit of my attic and called them to have it looked at. I had to pay $75 for them to tell me there was nothing they could do for me and that I needed a contractor to come out. I was pretty upset but paid since I was told that they would apply the money to a future service as long as it was within 90 days. I called today to schedule a service for the new house I purchased and was told I couldnt apply the credit since it wasnt for the exact same location. No where in the email they sent saying I could apply the credit for future purchases did it state it had to be for the same location. NOT HAPPY that I was mislead and basically threw money down the drain. Guess I'm stuck paying full price for this next visit and then will be finding someone new. Buyer beware. Make sure you ask lots of questions since they pull disclaimers out of left field! read more

We had a yellow jacket nest in the wall, and a swarm of the critters in the bedroom, of a property I manage. Filled out the online quote request around midnight, got a call right at 8am the next morning and they had someone out to the house by 9:30am. Price was exactly what was quoted on the phone, and the man that came out was incredibly helpful and reassuring. I live in the country and occasionally you see a mouse, wasps, ants, etc. They did such a terrific job the first time that I used them that I signed on for a 12 month (3 visits) maintenance program. The WORST possible service one could imagine!..Our association has a brownstone in Boston. We have done business with Waltham Services for many years. The company had merged and lost our account. We had been on quarterly service. Calls were made and at first they said we were not a customer, then were able to find our records. They had not been to the property in months. An offer for a future credit of $50.00 on a future bill...and we now have to start from scratch as the mice have reentered the building for lack of service. POOR POOR Customer Service!!! I think if you had asked me last year, I would have given them 4 or 5 stars. At two of my previous houses over the last 15 years, at each location I had them come and spray for ants. Each time I would have said it did successfully dealt with the problem, so going into my new house I knew I was going to get it sprayed for ants etc, and thought why not by the one year service contract to have it done, and help deal with any general vermin issues. So they sprayed, and put out rodent poison. We heard vermin in the walls and called, which they scheduled in about a week later, they put in new poison bait, at which point it the service man pointed out he thought we had flying squirrels in the attic (that was helpful). He threw poison around, and said we could pay $3-500 to have a one way door put over the place in the eves where they had likely found their way in, but that was about the extent of what to do first. To the guys credit, he didn't try to push me to spend the money on the door (maybe it was the look on my face.) Anyway, I would call them to spray again, but I would definitely not get the service plan as it doesn't seem to be any more than putting poison around the house for vermin which I can do and save hundreds of dollars. it doesn't cover any active effort to get rid of squirrels. They have outwitted the poison, and I outwitted myself by spending money on useless vermin insurance. I don't blame them, the contract says what it says, I read it and signed it (not that I remember all of it now :), but A-ok isn't how I feel about the value of the service contract at the moment as I hear squirrels every other night. PS After much effort, I did get rid of them. Used mouse traps to get them after a protracted efforts, MAKE SURE you secure them down with screws ! Tried a bucket trap with ramp, water and sunflower seeds, might have worked eventually, but once the seeds sink, the jig is up. read more

We used Waltham Pest to get rid of a large yellow jacket nest in our front yard. John was prompt and professional, and clearly explained the different options for treating / removing the nest. He got the job done (removing a football-sized nest under the ground and treating the area with insecticide) in about 45 minutes for $255. The price seemed quite reasonable given the equipment and experience the job obviously required -- this was clearly not a DIY. I would use them again and would recommend them to others. read more

I think it's a great testament to the integrity of this company when someone comes to a $2,000,000 home, loaded with rotten wood that is being replaced and tells you, "Sorry to tell you this, but you don't have termites." This, after my contractor said we should get it checked out - so I would have believed anything. Many contractors come to a large home and see dollar signs. Waltham Pest could have easily "found" termites and charged us for treatment. They were honest, instead. I am very grateful. read more

Every time I have something come up the team is out here taking care of it. The best part about the experience is the fact they actually care enough about what is going on.
