This place is so clean and well-run! The two ladies working the Sunday afternoon shift were both so friendly and helpful. They clearly like kids, and it was a pleasure to interact with them. We brought seven high-energy 4th graders, and they had a fantastic time using the triple play passes that we bought online (3 plays for $20). We had a party here for my 11 year old and 4 friends. Went off without a hitch. We liked the small arcade size because it's hard to lose the party guests and easy to keep an eye on them. The laser tag course was fun with plenty of places to hide and snipe. Staff was friendly and on top of the party experience. Ultrazone offers a lower price option to Doyle's Outpost, but Doyle's offers a bar, restaurant menu and prizes for the arcade. Definitely recommend Ultrazone though! read more

Best place to have a kids bday party!!!! they manage all the things- set up, food, laser tag games, clean up- as the parent you can participate or hang back and let the kids go have fun! We have attended friend's birthday parties here and were recommended dog the ease and simplicity of this location. The staff and team members are all so kind and friendly. We originally were signed up for a mid afternoon pizza party- however due to sports make up conflicts we changed it to a morning donut party- while 0900 was early, our kids were the only party there for the first hour and had the place to themselves - it was clean, it was "quieter", you could see all your kids. We did bring in chocolate milk and orange juice options to drinks as the idea of serving soda at 0900 with donuts just didn't seem right to me. But the staff member assigned to us had water available as well. Seriously would do this again and would recommend the early am if you can- ended up being the best thing ever! Just had a joint birthday party for my son and his bestie. I have to say the process of booking the party to the party itself was great! We were assigned Adriana as our party host and she was amazing! So sweet and polite and was able to manage 16 2nd grade boys! Entertainment - 4/5 (when everything works) Service - 2/5 I grew up with Ultrazone, and it will always have a special place in my heart because of that. The laser tag maze is still really fun to explore (with two levels to play on) and the murals painted on the walls are really fun. The issue, however, is with the equipment. Every game, my group had to try on multiple vests to find four that worked. And even then, at least two of our three games were marred by malfunctions. The employees more or less shrugged and offered us a free game that day (which is fine if you have unlimited time, which we did not). The arcades were similar. We were there for about 2 hours and saw multiple arcades get turned off. Notably, the air hockey didn't keep score properly (counting goals at random). Overall, it's still a nice place and my young son had a real blast (as I did as a kid). It's still a good time to play laser tag, get assigned fun codenames, and wait for a score. But as an adult, it's definitely a more frustrating experience when things constantly malfunction. read more

Who would've thought that 6 grown women would come to a virtually child/teenage centered laser tag/game room and have the time of our lives? We get together quarterly and take turns picking activities for all of us to do as a group, so when laser tag was first introduced to us, I thought this might be a bit too juvenile. In reality, it was great for team building skills and strategic planning. Let's face it, it was just great to whoop up on some folks! Especially fresh mouth kids. Lol! Not only was I able to live out my SWAT dreams in real life, I was able to kick some major butt!! We paid for a room which included pizza, beverages, and goody bags. This included 2 laser tag games, all for $30 each person. After we caught up a bit with each other, we viewed an instructional video, suited up and headed out into the laser tag room. Two levels of turns, tricks and fun!! You're in the laser tag room for about 15 minutes or so. The goal of course is to laser everyone NOT on your team. You can view your personal and team scores after the game ends. We did much better the second game because we had much more of a strategy and understanding of what to do. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the facilities could stand to be a little more updated. Out of 4 bathroom stalls, only 2 were working. Our party room had scuff marks on the walls and could use a fresh coat of paint. The entry of the building had games and other cool things kids could do, but of course the laser tag room was the major lure for everyone. It's a great time for kids and kids at heart! Take it from someone who knows, we had an absolute ball and got some exercise while doing so. Congrats to our team we nicknamed the "Bluebirds!" We Rock! Don't question the bill or they call the police, even on a 9-year old birthday party. In short, when I disputed a $5.99 charge on a $250 bill, they threatened to call and then did call the Fairfax County Police. When I booked my daughter's 9-year old birthday party at this Ultrazone, they mailed me invitations, but never indicated there was a charge for this service. When I said I wouldn't pay that charge (which no one told me about and wasn't listed on the confirmations I received) they said pay it or we call the police. I still refused and they called the police. I didn't want it to come to that, but I was treated so unprofessionally that I decided to stick to my principles. I was never rude, but I did consistently refuse to pay the charge. The first person I dealt with was James, who kept accusing me of being rude for refusing to comply. Then I dealt with manager Samantha who was polite, but unyielding. She called her manager at Corporate who turned out to be the rudest of them all. When I explained my position, he said "I was going to help you, but now I'm not." He then asked his manager to make sure I was escorted off the premises by the police. Over $5.99. Clearly they don't care about customer service, but they still lost this repeat customer today and I hope they lose many more because of this review. Worst customer service I have EVER experienced. If you have tween boys in your life, it is almost guaranteed that you will end up at a laser tag center at least once in your life. My little brothers place of choice is Ultra Zone Laser Tag. While this is not as new as other centers out in the burbs, Ultra Zone makes up for it with it's multi level "killing" field. There are tons of ramps to run up and places to hide...and it is always gaurenteed to be filled with tons of targets. Even as a non-competitive, mostly immobile adult who has had the fun sucked out of her a bazillion years ago...I still felt a little thrill inside me. Birthday parties here are the worst, but kids seem to enjoy it anyways. They will serve commercially delivered pizza cut up even smaller into tiny slices and soda in a room that is painted to look like you are in outer space. If you have hungry kids on your hands, you should always order more. This place gets so busy that it is confusing for children to meet up and play their games. They do have a small gaming area for kids to hang out in while waiting as well. Bring your quarters y'all. If you come here at night, be prepared to deal with big bully kids (bigger than this adult at least haha) who smoke out front, sneak alcohol in their soda and will dominate you on the laser tag zone. read more

She laughed again and said those are from yesterday. I showed her the receipt which clearly stated today's date. She stared at it with a confused look for a really long time. Finally, she said , "I don't understand. They're not supposed to use that color today." I said, "I didn't choose the color." The customer service to book a birthday party is horrible. They are VERY unhelpful and can not resolve the most simple of issues/concerns. Case scenario: I am organizing a party there for a group of 9 and 10 year olds, and their policy is that every child in attendance will be charged the package price per child, regardless of whether they're playing laser tag games or not. My biggest issue is that they do not have a price point for kids (even if just the birthday child's siblings) that are NOT playing any of the laser tag games. In other words, a younger sibling of the birthday child is unable to be in the party room unless you are willing to fork over $17.99 for two slices of pizza. If you voice your disagreement with this logic, customer service will simply respond (from what seems like a generic telephone script): $17.99 will cover 2 slices of pizza, plates/utensils (we chose to bring our own), and cake (also bringing our own). Yes, almost 20 bucks for 2 slices of pizza that a 6 year old will likely eat just one. Not even a reduced price which would make more sense. This pricing strategy is clearly in place to squeeze parents like lemons. Soooo, in the end, they would not be reasonable. Sadly, on the day of the party it took extra effort for me to ensure my 6-year old was fed in advance and stayed out of the party room (and yes, she had to have her birthday cake while sitting out in the middle of the arcade area instead of celebrating with her sister!). As I mentioned to them several times over the phone, I would have been willing to pay a lower rate that is fair given her limited participation. My refusal to pay the regular cost was a matter of principle! All that to say, the staff still tried to add my 6-year old to the bill. Do NOT ever have a birthday party at this establishment! They promise to correct any issues immediately, but that is not the case at all! They tell you one thing and then say they cannot come through on that. It completely ruined my child's birthday, instead of him leaving happy, he left disappointed and I left shelling out a whole lot of money for nothing! They will lie to you and promise you things and then say they cannot provide them. The manager and staff on duty appear to have no control over anything or the ability to make things right, even though you are told that when you check in. This place is a joke! Update: After speaking with corporate today about the situation, I was accused of being a criminal and stealing from the business, in which they had my credit card on file to charge the necessary charges, but never told me I had paperwork to sign. They called the police on me and threatened to press charges against me for not paying, when they had my credit card info. I have NEVER been in trouble with the law and would NEVER intentionally steal or wrong someone, so instead of calling me and explaining the oversight that I had paperwork to sign, they decided to get the police involved. They also fraudulently charged my credit card an extra $500 to "get my attention" and would refund it in "due process". Those were the exact words that came out of a member of the senior management. Screaming teenagers, people that reeked of pot, an air hockey table that never produced a puck and staff that was so overwhelmed they couldn't bring us one. We never even made it to the check in station because the place was a zoo. So we opted to leave this nightmarish place and try our hand at bowling. "Game Master" "Game Master" lost children are looking for you! I must've went on the busiest day of the year because the vests were not functional and silly me, I purchased a triple pass for the kids in my party. The first time, my son's vest didn't work. He walked out almost in tears. Christian allowed them to go into the next game, I'm like cool, I didn't lose any money. The second time, my niece and his friend's didn't work, after waiting for at least an hour they went in for the third time, my niece's didn't work and my son and his friend were left in there. Although Maria was very friendly and tried the best she can to accommodate us, and explained that there were glitches in the system. It still meant long faces from my birthday boy and his friends. Not only did the vests not work, but my son and his friend were LOST! They said they kept yelling game master as instructed, but to no avail. I went in the room where you don the vests, people from the incoming group was getting ready and they were still in the room. If you would've seen the look of terror on their faces when they finally came out, you would've been PISSED! The heavy set black dude was very rude. I had my infant niece in a car seat and he refused to let us use an empty chair to seat her on! Really dude? He directed us to a tiny concrete bench that the car seat protruded from. It was so crowded, people kept bumping into it. I called corporate immediately when it happened and nothing. I called again and Mike and Crystal explained that as I saw, no refunds are allowed, even when it is their fault that we couldn't play as expected. Mike also stated that although the children couldn't play all of the games without incident, at least they still got to play. Ultra Zone laser tag was great! Five of us, all mid-20s, went on a Friday night for their unlimited play for $14 deal. We had a blast! None of us had really experienced laser tag before, so I won't tell you what our scores were, but Ultra Zone made it fun even though we weren't experts. One of the guys in the briefing room was absolutely dismal, but later we had other employees giving the briefing and they were much more excited about it. The actual vesting only takes a couple of minutes and then you're off into the arena. I have no idea if the map is any good, but it is freakin' huge. It's lots of fun to either hold the second floor, or STORM IT with your team! I think it would be totally awesome to rent this place out for an overnight or something. The only downside to Ultra Zone is the complete lack of food and drink. They sell Gatorade and water for a few bucks each, but that's it. Make sure you eat before coming, because you won't find food anywhere here. read more

Apparently you needed to be here at 6am in order to get in a game between the masses of high schoolers. There was literally little room to breath or move in the lobby. Speaking of which, this was my personal hell on a Friday night. High schoolers everywhere. If you don't like malls on a Friday night, you won't like this place. Go during the week....or maybe a Sunday afternoon. Then the only high schoolers you will have to deal with that those "pro-laser tag" geeks. Their normal 3 game deal seemed like a way better deal than the unlimited Fri/Sat night deal---as you would maybe only get to play one game on said "Unlimitedness". High Schoolers are suckers. Tonight I made my long awaited return to laser tag after an 8 year absence and it was a roaring success! The setup here is very straightforward on a Friday night. Matches are 8 bucks each or you can get an "unlimited" pass after 9 for like 16 dollars. This is worth it if you stay till 1 but the time between matches is so long that you'll only get maybe 3-4 matches all night. In fact the time between matches is so long that my crew was able to head to a nearby bar for a couple of drinks and return before they had cycled back around to us (this is actually a good strategy for increasing your enjoyment of the games ;-)) The atmosphere is probably as you'd imagine with a bunch of kids here for birthday parties and teenagers just hanging out. In all I didn't mind all the kids milling about. I felt like I was trespassing in their area and not the other way around and they were all respectful and cool. Other reviews complain of "thugs" and obnoxious kids but all the kids here were fine. Aside from laser tag there are a few nappy arcade games and air hockey tables. The air hockey is legit but the space is almost too small to hold the few machines they have and it's so crowded that it's hard to belly up to the games. The actual laser tag experience was fun! A good 10 minutes of running around capping fools. If they can find a way to speed up the process that'd jump them up a star in my book. read more

I took our five year old daughter to a birthday party here earlier today. She had a blast! (And so did I!) The party seemed well organized amid the chaos of the game room. Each party had a game master that helped serve the food and cake, and line up the kids to go into the laser tag area. The safety briefing was very thorough and the equipment was easy to put on -- the five year olds needed only a little bit of assistance. We played two 15 minute games with cake inbetween. Our party played against the other two parties that were taking place at the same time. Stay low, move around and keep shooting is very good advice. There are a number of nooks and crannies to hide in... and if you're able to hold the high ground, it's easy pickings! I was really impressed with the operation there. This place was very unorganized. Came here for an unlimited game, but only played 2. We waited more than an hour just to play the first game. We've seen many teams go in multiple times before we could go in, and the staff failed to do anything about it. They tried to make multiple excuses, which didn't help at all. This place is like a kid's dream come true. I like to think of it as another source of fun exercise since you really get into it and sweat like crazy. They also updated their vests which are always a plus. But look out because there are kids who are really serious about this game and come in groups. These are the ones that spoil a part of the fun since you're just trying to have a good time. (haha) They get pretty intimidating, especially when they kill you over and over again. Great place for large groups since they keep you together by color wristbands and call you up when it's your turn to play. The management and staff here are incompetent. It's appalling. I'll just give you the rundown of how my night went this past Saturday. -Wait in line 15 minutes for tickets while little children run around sans parental supervision (this part doesn't bother me -it's laser tag - I'm just setting the scene. - Finally get to buy my ticket - but, also ask for a soda. Soda is literally frozen (and of course staff will not give me a non-frozen one) and, the cashier never rings up my ticket, so, I have to do two separate transactions. - Wait about an hour to get to play laser tag - all the while just hooving in the lobby cuse there is no where else to wait. Kids continue to run. - While waiting go to bathroom. Realize it smells worse than anything. - Get into Laser tag. First vest I pick up, broken. Get another. Go into Laser tag only to realize, that vest is also broken (I can't shoot). So, it takes me a few minutes to find the exit. I'm given a new working vest with about 2 minutes left of play. - Wait another hour for next game. Finally called in - and half our party is left out in the hallway. They called two groups at once - and there aren't enough vests for that. The fire code would also probably not approve. - Management explains this by... yelling "My staff messed up and let two groups in, half of the second group can't come in" and basically told them all to get out. I couldn't believe how rude the manager was. - Second game of laser tag is pretty fun. Sticking together helps, so does shooting down from up. - We all decide we don't want to wait for our third game and bail - three hours after getting there. Moral of the story: Just no. read more

Game is great. Management is a disaster. We've been here so many times for parties for our kids, and individually, and there's always an issue. Today, 2 of our guests didn't play because they didn't have enough vests. 2 more realized their guns were out of battery after the game started. They only offered us "passes" for another game, later. That doesn't help our guests leave happy, does it? And is tacky and so damn cheap. You'd think they'd offer a very little more than what we paid for and didn't receive!! Also, the refrigerator wasn't working, and our poor host had to get drinks from another room. I feel bad for our host who was great, but didn't get any tip due to all of this. This place is awesome! A bunch of my friends and I went here on a Saturday afternoon and had a blast. Expectedly there were a LOT of children (ages 13 and below) present. Yes, at times it got a bit embarrassing to shamelessly tag down kids half my age/size. But it's still fun if you go in a big group with people around your age! Your session group splits into three teams (blue, green, and red). At the end you get to see the scoreboard outside to see how well you did (your gear is tagged with a username). Only annoying thing is the ridiculously long, low-budget instructional/safety video they make you watch prior to entering the course. I get that safety is important, especially when dealing with kids, but they make you watch the video before EVERY session (so if you buy 3 games, you have to watch this 10 minute long video each time. Boo). Tip: Buy the 3-game pack. It's equivalent to buying 2 individual games (plus you can save the 3rd game in the pack for future use). Tip 2: Bring cash or quarters. They have a bunch of arcade-like games in the lobby to kill time with while you wait for your session to start (don't waste your money on the claw machines. TOTAL RIPOFF...) read more

Decided to have my son's 13th birthday here and it was his request but I have to admit, the fact that they do/handle everything for you is a HUGE selling point. They do: cake/cupcakes, pizza, drinks invites and other add-ons. Not having to arrange and carry all of that in, to me, is nice. The question then becomes: 1) what is the quality of cake/cupcakes, pizza etc. 2) What is the level of service (front desk/party rep). What I didn't expect is a multiple follow-ups, once a week out and another the day before via phone. I actually did need to make an update and appreciated the calls. Pizza was from Paisano's, which is good tasting, good quality and just as important...it was hot! Cake/cupcakes are from a local bakery - we had the cupcakes and they were clearly fresh and really good! Level of service from the Party rep...the person responsible for EVERYTHING that goes on at your party. Luann was the person that was assigned to our party and she was so great, so nice and most of all...so PATIENT with a bunch of excited 13 year olds! I think I asked her at least 3 times if I could help her and each time she calmly smiled and said, "no, but thank you" It goes w/o saying, but the kids and parents had a blast playing laser tag. I saw someone mention the Saftey Video as a negagitve - really? haha Yes, it is cheesy and you have to watch it every time, but they have to, they have different players each time and to be honest, it's cheesy funny. One area that could use updating/improving is the party rooms - I'm not going to Ultrazone for glamourous party rooms, but they could use some renovating...a bit of an odor, but 13 year old boys could really care less. Sure, I loved the fact that they handle it all for me, but what made my day was that after it was all over my son said, "Thanks dad, that was the best birthday party I've had!" For people in the service industry, I know it is their job/goal, but I know it isn't easy especially when you are dealing with 5 to 14 year olds that are excited, don't pay attention and have a ton of energy and have to do so ALL DAY! Too often we dismiss surveys and requests for feedback when things go well, however when something goes wrong...the world hears about it. I had a lot of fun doing laser tag and playing some games while waiting for my laser tag group to get called. They had air hockey, racing games, the claw to get prizes, basketball, and other arcade games. When you buy your ticket you get a bracelet and they call your bracelet color. They have a schedule and call your bracelet color in order and cycle through all the bracelet colors until they get back to you. They have a lot of bracelet colors, which means you have to do a lot of waiting to get your color called in a long list/ order. We went there a little before nine and we stayed until 1. During the four hours, we only got to play 4 games, so that means we played one game an hour. Each laser tag game lasted around 25 minutes including the video they show in the beginning and putting your gear on. That means that for 35 minutes we had to wait.... And wait... It was so much waiting around we had to be creative to pass time. I got a tattoo from one of the machines and went to the bathroom to put my temporary tattoo on... That was like ten minutes wasted... Then I went to seven eleven to get some food and drinks... That was like 15 minutes gone. Just so much waiting that I regretted not getting the $26.00 laser tag pass that lets you do unlimited games without the wait. This would have been worth it! Uhhh... Not worth it so much waiting to play one game:( Oh and the staff members were not professional during the video. They were making the video to be a joke by mocking the actors and laughing at parts and the workers did not control the people, so it was so hard to watch and hear the video. Listen, this isn't a black tie venue. Your shofeur isn't opening the door to your Lincoln Towncar (actually, my limo bus driver did though). This place is pure laser tag at its finest. Whoever keeps yelping that this place is meant for younger kids is strongly amiss. Maybe during the day for summer camp hours - but I've now visited over six or seven times and every time it has been late teens and 20/30 somethings having a great time. The equipment isn't the best at times - but the arena is well thought out. My friend Paul (frequently noted in my reviews due to his strong opinions) suggested this place on a Friday night. Let's start out by disclosing that Paul and I are thirty-somethings and our neighbor who went with us is a forty-something. We were out of our element by between one and two DECADES compared to the rest of the, ahem, patrons at Ultrazone. That's ok, you gotta have something fun to do when you're in high school and not old enough to drive, right? We had a good time. Clearly we were bested by the high schoolers in laser tag (ahhh, youth), but we still had fun. It was moderately crowded and I could see how a really big crowd could make this place not fun in a hurry. The video games and air-hockey distracted us between rounds. And the $15 unlimited deal after 9PM is worth it. Just know what you're getting into: pre-pubescent kids having fun on a Friday night. If you can deal with that, you'll have fun too. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. This is by far the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. After watching the briefing video and putting on the gear, a female employee enters the room and declares that the last four people who came into the room needed to "get the f*** out." She then continued to berate the room of over 20 people stating that we would all "stand here like f***ing idiots for the next hour until the four people left". The entire group was then instructed that if we rewatch the briefing video we would be allowed back to play. A manager then came into the room, kicked everyone out and told us to wait outside for us to be called in for the next game. When our color group was not called next, our group decided to request a refund and talk to a manager. Keep in mind that at this point, we were there for 2 hours and played once. We were refused a refund, the manager refused to come out from the back room to speak to us, and the assistant manager told us "that he didn't kick us out so he wouldn't deal with it." One employee allowed us into the next game, but as we entered the same female employee was cursing under her breath and slamming doors. This place has so much potential to be a great activity, but it is completely ruined by an incompetent and offensive staff. They have lost a local and potential repeat customer. By reading previous reviews, it is obvious that this business has no respect or regard for its customers. read more

OK experience, great for teenagers and kids 8+, not the best setup for laser tag. I have been to some that are way better. Smells like sweaty teenagers. Equipment in decent condition. Arcade could use a little tweaking. 16$ all you can play in the evenings is worth it. Not too crowded on a Saturday night. I would return. read more

This was a very important part of my life from ages 11-13...I'm sure there are some people on Yelp with kids, and if they enjoy video games, nerf weapons, etc., they will be in heaven here. I actually can't believe that this place is still open and thriving. It seems like Lasertag (Lazertag?) was one of those early to mid 90's phenomena that tend to fade away into obscurity. When I think of Lasertag, vivid memories of Putt Putt, the X-Men arcade game, and Mortal Kombat II come rushing back as well. Those were the days. Ultrazone was the perfect place to let your pre-teen violent fantasies run wild. You are divided into teams, and you can get points by shooting your opponents, and also by attacking the other team's base. It appeals to the younger crowd, although you might want to have your kids watch out for socially awkward older teenagers who like to take over, as well as a few overzealous adults who participate, mowing down kids as if they are getting revenge for torturous years of parenting. When the match is over, you get a scorecard with your statistics, and they are also displayed on a large video board ala Starship Troopers. They also do birthday parties, so bring your kids here for some sweaty and chaotic fun. Afterwards, you can hit up a Korean bar in Bailey's Crossroads to make the evening complete, minus the kids, of course. read more

This place is very disorganized, unpleasant environment for me. I didn't like it, mainly due to the fact that many of these kids were using vulgar language and most of them were 10 year olds. I personally don't like seeing little kids run around wildly having no strategy plan what so ever. Then again I suppose this is more for kids rather than a well thought out plan game huh? Well the equipment and building itself is good which is the only points I'll give it for. On that note I don't think I'll be returning here, I'll pass for air soft next time, something that's more thought out and people who have game plans, making it far more challenging. read more
