Here for a COVID test and havnt even gotten registered yet and the people are being unbelievably rude

I've had good moments here and bad, overall I'd have to give it a three star, yet the moment I will describe is two stars. I sat in the triage/emergency area for around seven hours, just waiting for someone to see me. I watched as all these people ahead of me get service, my mom went over to one of the staff and said "why hasn't my son been seen yet"...The staff responded "he needs an IV and is a major priority"... I was quite surprised because if I was such a priority why wasn't I seen sooner? Supposedly I had the mumps...which I also don't understand why I wasn't quarantined or what not. However my overall visit post-waiting room, was pleasant the doctors were very friendly and whoever gave me the cat scan was very friendly and kept me cracking up which was good after all the agony and annoying occurrences that kept surrounding me... (I'm putting yes for "appointment only" because you might as well call ahead and make an appointment so you don't have to wait for as long as I did) read more

I can't even put into words the lack of professionalism and human decency this place had when taking care of my mother last weekend.... but I will try. Friday, after spending the entire day sitting in the ER hallways, my mother was admitted for back pain almost incapable of walking. Unable to figure out what was wrong or causing the pain they ran a full cat scan on Saturday. Sunday morning comes and I arrive to the hospital to visit. Turns out that morning, before my arrival, a nurse practitioner came in tearful to explain to my mother they found legions in her neck that could most likely be cancer. My mother is only 56 and has already had stage 3 breast cancer about 10 years ago. Having a past with the horrendous disease, it was very believable when both a tearful nurse and a doctor said the word "cancer". My family then spent the next two days believing we were to be facing another scary and intense cancer journey with my mom. Monday comes and they ran an MRI to determine if the legions found were in fact cancerous... mri came back completely clear.... How can you even say the words cancer without being absolutely sure. The fact that they lead us to believe she could potentially be dying from cancer yet again without being sure was beyond be. Next time I hope these doctors and even nurses learn to deliver "factual" news in a more professional way. These are people's lives, don't take them so lightly. read more

It's a hospital that's a bit off the beaten path. But just follow the big blue H signs and you'll find it easy enough. Though this has not been a part of my Worcester County hospital tour, I have taken plenty of people here as an EMT. Since I have only brought patients in, and not out ( reminds me of the roach motel commercials, once the get in, they don't get out), The staff at the ER hovever has always been friendly and seemed attentive. Could have something to do with the fact that I've never seen it overrun for help. read more

Do not! I repeat do not have any relative placed in the psychiatric unit of this hospital. Overall the practices used will not help the patient get better. Lack of competent staff and medicine exists in this hospital. read more

Horrible hospital. I went to this hospital following an infection and their care for that led to stroke, they can not determine for the 2 weeks i was admitted, what caused the problem and it was the anti-biotic they administered. They were very keen on the lab work they needed to perform, but not knowing why. Very very bad doctors and when i got transferred to another hospital they did not give my medical records saying they have a printer problem. When my doctor asked for that over fax or email, that never showed up. I would have given a negative review, giving one star as there is no way. Avoid this, if you want to live... read more

I had an elective surgery performed at Marlborough Hospital as apart of there Surgical Day Center. The nurses, front desk staff, technicians, and doctors I met were all phenomenal. I felt that I was their top priority for the day and I was cared for in a respectful, professional, and caring manner. The Surgical Day Center nurses were stellar and quick to get me checked in and prepped for my surgery. My nurses lovingly cared for me and were very professional and were spot on to confirm my identity and reason for my visit each time they conversed with me. They also were great to explain everything that was going on step-by-step to let me know exactly what I was having done and the reasoning behind it. Up in the OR area my nurse team and anesthesiologist were great and provided me the same care I received in the Surgical Day Center before and after my surgery. I would not hesitate to go to Marlborough Hospital again. read more

Got rushed up here the nurse I have is rude and mean never come up here unless I have no choice the doctors in the ER suck full hospital sucks always slow even when its not busy definitely needs a staff change up these people hate their jobs you can tell no bed side manner at all this place has always sucked definitely feel like its gotten worse I wouldn't send my worse enemy up here took them 20 mins to get me on a neb and I'm an asthmatic don't come here unless you have no choice read more

I've lived in Marlboro for the majority of my life and have spent a considerable amount of time (unfortunately)over the years in the Emergency Department. I have sat on a stretcher waiting anxiously for tests as a patient,and as a family member waiting to hear news on a parent who was ill or a sister who was dying beyond those waiting room doors. Receiving skilled compassionate evidence based care should be the hallmark of any institution. A system stretched to its limits with limited resources and staff who do not exude sympathy or compassion seems to be more the norm than the exception here. This is a small community hospital and I have encountered some exceptional doctors and nurses although in writing this review I recall many more unfortunate interactions with nurses and doctors that truly make me want to avoid this hospital at all costs. After a family members recent admission to Granger II, I was left in disbelief that these people who were "caring" for my loved one belonged to the same profession I have worked in for many years. I want to offer a couple suggestions although I understand the limitations experienced working on a med/surg floor and how difficult juggling multiple patients with multiple needs can be. I understand that when you are trying to provide life saving care to one of your patients, there may be another who feels abandoned waiting for a refill on their cranberry juice. A call bell may have to wait as you are dealing with a patient who needs blood or has developed and arrhythmia. I am not blind that so much is happening behind the scenes that patients are simply not aware of. With that said, I want to offer a little insight as a family member. 1) Smile and tell me who you are. The patient and their family are scared and anxious. They may be in pain and your reassurance goes a long way to alleviate an already high level of stress. My family member will probably be less "work" when they feel at ease and in return your job will be made that much easier in dealing with them. 2) Spit out that gum. It's disrespectful to come into a room chewing gum and shows a level of unprofessionalism. You may be the best nurse in the world but I've already made judgments about you as a professional when you come in with a mouth full of Hubba Bubba. 3) When my family member arrives to the floor make sure someone is there to greet them and get them settled. Again, I get constraints but a simple introduction goes a long way. I think being on a floor for over an hour before anyone even acknowledges you is not acceptable. 4) Pretend to be interested in what my family member is telling you. I get Epic makes this incredibly challenging and I know you want to get out of that room ASAP but don't make it so obvious. 5) Give my family member an idea what the plan of care is. I don't expect detailed information nor would my family member understand medical jargon but tell them what is going on and what to expect. 6) Please don't take my frustrations personally when I am fuming about the medical care my family member has received. I get I'm projecting my frustrations onto you but I'm desperately trying to advocate for my parent and I'm scared and I'm tired. Please don't patronize me or try to shut me down with a defensive comment. I want a community hospital that I can rely on and I feel confident will provide expert care at moments of need. I have not consistently found that and it frightens me. I would never want to be an inpatient at Marlboro Hospital because I have a unique perspective as a health care professional. But, I find myself telling my family member that "this is a great hospital and the staff will take great care of you". I say these words because I want my family member to feel safe. I want them to feel safe when I am not feeling safe or confident that my family member will receive the care they deserve. read more

Simply put, this Hospital is completely incompetent and their "customer service" is atrocious. My wife visited the Emergency Room on 9/26/2017 due to stomach pains and we wanted to be cautious. After sitting in their waiting room for over 2 hours, we decided to leave as they could not provide any ETA of when we would be seen, and the pain had decreased. We were then billed $800 for "Ancillary Services" several weeks later. My wife called and spoke to someone, and they said there had been a mistake and there should not have been a bill. We later found out that $720 had been billed to our insurance company, and we now owed $80. After several more phone calls, each resulting in nothing other than people saying they would "call back", which of course, has never happened, they are now threatening to move the account to a collection agency. Only recently have they decided to use a new excuse, this time claiming they ran a pregnancy test, which is what the $800 charge is for. They never sent us any results of this "test", and today claim they have no record of us ever calling them. This is at least the 5th time we have called. Overall, if you are looking to get billed for "tests" and "services" that Marlborough Hospital never actually provides, then please, feel free to send your business to this Hospital. If you don't like getting charged for "tests" and "services" that the Hospital doesn't actually provide, you likely want to look elsewhere. It's a travesty that Hospitals can do this to people without any recourse. While we were lucky in that this is a relatively small amount of money, I feel very bad for people who have inevitably been taken to the cleaners by this Hospital whom clearly lies to its customers. read more

Took my family member here for an emergency visit and we were attended to very quickly and loved the thoughtful care we received.

10 hours on a gurney in the hall of the ER. They did not check me in, had very old info on file. Wrong doctor ,meds. I had hit my head so a possible concussion. They wrote contusion on lower extremities as a diagnosis. 6 or 7 painful bumps on my head, a headache, and I have a cut on my knee. Rooms became available, no one talked to me, had a folded towel for a pillow and I am immuno supressed. Ignored, banged into each time a gurney passed. Doctors and nurses all around, I don't think they knew why I came in. Dizziness was a huge problem. I said I was a fall risk. So I went in for possible head injury and walked out 10 hours later, stumbling, and still dizzy, and throbbing head. read more

Girlfriend had sudden severe stabbing abdominal pain. Took her in right away to closest ER. Had 3 hour wait in ER. Understood that they were busy. Her pain was increasing to the point that she was nearly passing out. I updated the triage nurse accordingly. Each time I was received with a glare and a nothing I can do response. I let it slide. Maybe busy, maybe stressed. Once inside the ER I watched several safety violations, including not washing hands or gloving up for IV sticks and throwing away IV Caths (that just came out of my girlfriends arm) into the regular trash. I left to go get something to eat when she went for her CT Scan. When I came back I found the call bell wrapped up and hanging out by the wall, out of reach, and out of sight range. They ran a full set of labs on her. They never went over them with her, nor ordered antibiotics/investigated further when her WBC count came back 3 points higher than normal. She ended up having Kidney stones. She requested additional pain meds as the pain was rapidly returning and beginning again. After an hour a doctor came in, and started going over discharge instructions. My girlfriend asked about the pain meds she had asked for an hour ago, and the doctor replies "I didnt even know about that, you asked for pain meds?" IE: The nurse didnt even bother to pass that request up and just ignored it. When we were getting ready to take her home, we asked for a copy of her labs and ct results. The nurse bristled and asked "why do you want that for, you dont even have a doctor?" (She had just moved and hadnt set up a new PCP in her area). I dont know if this is the exception or the rule, but either way I know that neither of us will ever come here in an emergency. The docs seemed ok, 1 out of 3 nurses were alright. However if there is a next time I will take her to Worcester or Framingham. read more

Went in last Friday with severe dehydration from early pregnancy symptoms. Vomiting and seeing spots I was in rough shape. They quickly took me in. Great staff from check in, to nurse practitioner, to the PA. Got my fluids and meds to stop puking. Thanks again for the care! read more

I was treated for a concussion, this was my second one. My symptoms included constant headaches and just feeling "out of it." They saw me right away, I barely waited but was back there for maybe 10 minutes, no longer. They did a quick neurological exam and then insisted that it was "probably" a concussion, no vitals or anything else were checked considering I was in a bed in the middle of the hallway. It was such a rushed process and ended up getting medication for the headache pains. The first time I was diagnosed for a concussion it was at another hospital and the matter was taken so seriously, I was excused from school for as long as I felt needed and was on strict bed rest. Here they made it seem like I was fine to drive, go to school, etc. They were also very unprofessional and the person who discharged me was very rude and couldn't care less about my injury. The only positive experience I had was registration and checking in, other than that it was all downhill. read more

DREADFUL experience in the Marlborough Hospital ER. 4 1/2 hour wait for a motrin and 90 seconds (I watched the clock) with a doc who said my leg was probably not broken. I carefully told him what had happened, that I had fallen skiing and then he proceeded to ask me twice if I had fallen. Wait was followed by another 45 minutes of waiting for x ray to tell me when they would be "ready" for me. I was tired, hungry and just wanted to go home and go to bed, so I left. Told the nurse "in charge" of me of my departure. All she did was show me where the exit was. No apology, no "are you ok to go". Frighteningly poor care. read more

This place is a dump. I was in the hospital with colitis for one week, and I couldn't believe how crowded my room was, how rude and just-plain-stupid the nurses were, and how disgusting the food was. I'm very old, and I've been in a number of hospitals, but I just had no idea what a hell-hole I was getting myself into. On the wall there's a sign that says patients may give feedback from a questionnaire when they leave. I never got one, so I called and asked that they send it, but they never did. They don't want feedback, I'm quite sure, because it's not good. read more

First and foremost, the staff at this hospital were so nice and accommodating. All the nurses kept checking in on me and the MD that treated me was nice and kept me informed on what was going on with me. They took me in quickly and immediately began treatment. I was in and out in 1.5 hours and was handled with such good care. Thank you Marlborough hospital !!! read more

This is the absolute worst hospital i have ever been to not even worthy of 1 star. i checked my self in around 830 pm to the emergency department because i had a broken tooth with the nerves hanging out which was so painful i couldnt even breathe out of my mouth. by the time i was brought into the actual emergency department 2 hours had elsaped. then they sat me in a chair in the hallway in between a woman who was screaming because she had to use the bathroom and a 12 year old girl who was vomiting on the floor every 5 minutes. finally i said f*** this and proceeded to CVS to buy extra strength tylenol and oragel. ER physician, made me want to punch him. Dr Cheshire- Yep,.. naming names! After waiting a long time in the ER with a son (14) with scathing abdominal pain, we were moved into a examine room. We waited there for an incredibly long time, even though it appeared to be mostly empty of patients. Nurse came in took vitals, asked about the problem,.. I asked if he could get something for the pain. After the Dr. has seen him. Fine. 20 minutes later, Dr walked in and says,.. hands in the air, distain dripping from his lips,.."Why are you HERE,.. doesn't he have a pediatrician or someone?" Needless to say,.. I was quite put off by my initial impression of him. I explained how my kid was in pain, woke up in pain,.. had had diareha for days and was down to 100 lbs. Again with hands in the air,.. "well,.. what is it that you would like ME to do" Umm,.. maybe make sure it's not an appendicitis, rules out anything critical via blood work? and help him get comfortable!! I was annoyed with his "holier than-thoug" attitude, and crappy bedside manner, but I chalked it up to perhaps a busy or rough nite on in the ER. Saw this same Dr in the grocery store a few weeks later,.. literally hemming and hawing, because he had a small basket of items, and had to wait in line. Then I realized,.. NOPE He's just a jerk! Then I got a bill for $1200.00 for his service. Screw him,.. I'll pay THAT bill when HELL freezes OVER!! read more

My mom was brought in by ambulance, due to an allergic reaction to an antibiotic, caused pneumonia. The e/r was less than organized, and I was under the impression that she would be released with meds. Wrong, she was admitted overnight. The rooms are non-private, and they are in SERIOUS need of a makeover. The next day,I was told they were keeping her for about a week. Walked into the bathroom to call her pcp, and found flies! That was it. I myself, signed her out AMA, and immediately drove her to the best: MGH. There, she was treated by an absolutely amazing e/r staff, performing all sorts of tests, including an echo of her heart IN the e/r, before going to imaging a few days later for another. She received a visit by her pulmonary doc, physical therapy, and she also had a private room on the 9th floor overlooking Boston. All her docs are MGH, and I wanted her to be transported there, but the local ambulance, goes only to local hospitals. The care she received at MGH was absolutely PHENOMENAL. Why would you go to Marlborough Hospital, when the 3rd best hospital in the whole country is only 28 miles away??? read more
