Looked at the furnace, sent me pictures and called back. Explained that it was ok, he changed the filter, and gave me an estimate for replacing the furnace - but said it wasn't needed yet - and also mentioned that the exhaust pipe was at least 60 years old and no longer appropriate for modern furnaces. I appreciate Carlos giving me straight talk, not trying to convince me it needed immediate replacement and being able to come by same day.

Our project manager, Arthur was on-time for the scoping appointment. He took time to understand our needs, investigated the attic, ducts and all the existing equipment, before making any recommendations. He designed the optimal system for our house to be cost effective, provide highest comfort and be energy efficient. He was not pushy and was upfront about the ballpark estimates and timeline. He also walked us thru the various rebates that are available for the replacements from local utilities. Arthur's quote was very competitive, in fact better than those quoted to us by Costco referred contractors. Nur's installation crew - Eldar, Bhakridin, were very professional and thorough. They didn't rush the job and left the job site clean and clutter free each day. They accommodated our requests for placing the electrical wires and conduits so they are not in the way. All the equipment both indoor and outdoor were cleanly laid out, secured and wiped down before hand off. Always smiling and respectful, one of the best installation crew we have had. As a white glove contractor they took care of all the permitting, inspection paperwork w/ the city, all the paper work for us to receive the rebates. They even completed the warranty registration with the manufacturers for all the equipment! Great communication, workmanship, and efficiency. They were first to come to mind again when I recently needed another old furnace replaced in a commercial tenant's space. Time was of the essence and James accommodated us into his busy winter schedule within two days. Since the furnace was very old and ducting was from another era, James communicated right away all of the potential issues. His team even stayed late to complete the install in the same visit so the tenant could have warm air right away. Any unusual or other issues that arose during the install, James communicated and had resolved as soon as possible to ensure client satisfaction. I am very picky when it comes to professional building techs, but would give 10 stars to Ocean Air if I could. My only disappointment is that they do not have a plumbing, electrical, or general building maintenance arm of their business!

What bothered me most was that when I questioned them, their explanation kept changing. First it was the compressor, then an "open line," then a high-voltage breaker issue. That is not a diagnosis I can trust, or a diagnosis based in true process of elimination testing to arrive at the core issue. I've been running a restaurant for nearly 20 years, and I've seen this pattern many times before: jump straight to the most expensive repair. In my experience, this felt like either incompetence or an attempt to oversell a job that wasn't needed. I will never use them again, and I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving any HVAC work from Next HVAC.

Rodolfo and Pedro came out to my 1960's "o-l-d" house with Furnace Heating issue and these two gentlemen did an excellent service job. I had 2 other technicians from another company out to fix a pilot light, on an old heater and the other two people could not service an old heater. However, Rodolfo and Pedro were up to the task, and had parts on hand in the van. They diagnosed the issue, needed replaced valve kit for a heater that was no longer able to get parts for. They swapped out the part, custom fit to save me 2K on replacing an old heater. They confirmed the old heater housing was fine and just needed to replace the Valve Kit. They took the time to explain the pilot light was not kicking in and showed the pilot knob not fully releasing and i checked myself so they could explain to even a novice like myself with professionalism and demeanor. They looked around. They explained the vent and filter saving 70% on start up efficiency and holding paper to the intake to "show" me as i wanted to "see" the difference. Most of all they knew their profession and explained as well as demonstrated what was wrong. I had to have asked a dozen questions and they showed me until i go it. Then they fixed it. My wife and i have been without heat for a week and they fixed the issue for a heater that no one else could find parts for. Excellent job. They were passionate about their work. They did not want to get in and run to the next client. They took time to make the fittings fit perfect. They made adjustments that improved the overall air flow and system. They were motivated. If you were in the military, you will understand the word motivated, as they served our nation and I respect that as a veteran myself, and most of all they brought a severe can do attitude with professional experience that got the job done, and professionally. As a working professional it is easy to spot a professional explaining and making the difference and taking time to explain and answer questions. I respect the work these two did. I write this, because anyone else would have charge 300 dollars more, they are ethical and don't cut corners and get a job done that others could not. If you have an old house, if you are a working professional, and you need someone to resolve your issue, and answer questions you have, I recommend them, they are professional, cordial and did a excellent job and you know once talking with them they will not gouge you on price. They know what they are doing, and are professional. For this experience, i recommend these gentlemen, they will fix your issue, whether old or new system, and do it right the first time and do a very reasonable price. We need more professionals like this, Peninsula area where houses are old and there if fog their additional experience will help you out. I live in San Francisco and I shopped around after my gravity furnace went out about a year ago. That's when I found Air Flow Pro's. They were reasonably priced and very knowledgeable on what I needed to complete my furnace and heating needs. They first explained what needed to be done to my wife and then to me so they were very patient and flexible to our needs. I ended up replacing my furnace and during the install they noticed my old water heater was rusted at the bottom so they also replaced my water heater at a great price. They replaced old pipes and duct all my vents and even added new ones to my downstairs. Phenomenal job! I can't say enough about the work that was done, the follow and all at a great price. I'm adding this review a year later because I had a problem with my hot water pressure recently and I thought it was the water heater so I called Rodolfo of Air Flow Pro's. It was a busy time for him, but he made time to personally inspect the unit himself. Long story short it was my pipes that caused the unit to malfunction and he ended up pressure washing my pipes along with checking the entire unit. Hot water was flowing immediately and when I asked what I owed him for the service call, he said no charge. Any other heating company would charge me $200+ to come out and he made a personal service call at a busy time. I had a problem with condenser motor for few months and had other technician came and tried to over priced and change whole air conditioning system which was $6000. Since I know what was wrong with my air conditioner, I sent messages to repair companies thru yelp, got reply back from few companies and Air Flow was one of them who respond it right away. I called few places closer to my area but some of them said it's not their service area. I called Air Flow (service area is from SF, San Jose, Oakland), the lady who answer the phone was so nice and helpful, tried to work with me with their busy schedules, they could fit me in right away. After making appointment, they even sent me a message thru yelp for confirmation message. Rudy, Vice President and also the technician, called and came out at the time of my appointment, check the problem in 5 min. He was so nice and patience with me to explain the problems so I could understand easily. He gave me few options with my budget. I'm usually wary of overly-flattering reviews, but in this case I would give Air Flow Pros six stars if I could. Our heater went out just as the weather started turning colder and we called Air Flow Pros because they are local and Diamond Certified. We couldn't be happier with the choice. Jose is very knowledgeable, professional, and personable. He set out to do the job as inexpensively as possible, explaining everything along the way. We ended up needing two replacement parts rather than just the one, but he quickly got our (very, very) old heater up and running, saving us thousands in potential replacement costs. Rudy brought the extra part out right away while Jose continued to work. Jose even dusted out the compartment that houses the electronics, upgraded the gas line, and neatly wrapped all the wiring when done. These are VERY good guys and complete "Pros" at what they do. Air Flow Pros is now my go-to company for any HVAC needs we might have in the future (including when it comes time to eventually install a new furnace and duct work). read more

We purchased a new home and needed an entirely new heating system. We met with numerous HVAC companies and decided to go w/AFP & are so happy we did. Rudy is extremely nice and explained everything to us so patiently & answered my endless questions without a hint of irritation. I called him numerous times and not one time did I receive voice-mail! These guys are great! We were really pleased with the work that Air Flow Pros did on our house. They updated both our heating and A/C units, and we now have a digital programmable thermostat for our house. The thermostat is pretty easy to use, and it's great now that the nights are getting a little colder (the heater turns on automatically when the house gets cold). During the summer, the automatic A/C was great, too, and a nice relief from the heat! They installed the A/C unit to the side of our house, and it has been working great! They even crawled under the house to check on the air ducts (I think they replaced them... I' m not sure, I didn't crawl in after them, but they had on their coveralls when they went down there!) I would definitely recommend them for your A/C and heating needs! read more

We had a bearing in the heater squirrel cage assembly that was making a lot of noise, I looked at and found that there was no easy way to access the bearings as the whole assembly would have to be dismantled. Called Air Flow on a Saturday and Rudy came out on Sunday. He carefully explained the pros and cons of repair vs replacement. Since the furnace is old and inefficient, after a days though, we decided to install a new one. He and his crew came out and installed a new unit and right away we could tell that it was putting out more heat than the old one. They were prompt, courteous and cleaned up before leaving. I could not believe how quickly they responded and how they went out of their way to make our repairs as quickly as they could. We called on a Sunday afternoon and Rudy was at our house within a couple hours. He was personable, knowledgeable, and brainstormed options with us. The next morning he ordered the part we needed to repair our heater since it was not in stock at local stores, and our heater was fixed by Tuesday evening, just in time for Thanksgiving on Thursday. I usually don't take time to do this kind of thing but AIRFLOW PROS did such a great job, I have to. Rodolfo was on time, a straight-arrow guy with no b.s. on price or service. Not the cheapest but certainly not the highest and no sales pitch for something I didn't need. He and his team (mainly family members) were professional, timely, neat and had the whole switch-out of old unit to new one with detail-specific extras done in less than 6 hours, including pulled permits. I left a message on Saturday (during the very busy winter season) and Rudy called back that afternoon and arranged to come out on Sunday to replace a pilot generator. I always have Rudy look at the furnace at the house and always happy with the advice and repairs I get. Rudy came out, checked out the furnace and said its working as it should, the problem was it was overheating due to not enough heat registers being opened in the rooms, and the self check mechanism in the furnace was shutting off like it should. I thought it was a repair issue. Rudy was kind enough to explain what was going on and didn't even charge for the service call. Perfection.!....in design and installation of 32k BTU air conditioning with electrostatic filter unit in a two story victorian with 11-12 foot ceilings....vents appear to have always been there..Air Handler in attic...compressor in back garden....results have been superb. Complete heat relief and 90% reduction in allergy symptoms..4.2k solar panels appear to be covering demand...What a relief from the past five years' heat. Our heater stopped working last winter, and in a matter of two days Air Flow Pros came and installed a much more energy efficient and quiet system. We feel safer and are saving money with this newer state of the art heating system. Air Flow Pros have followed up with service calls several times to make sure we are totally satisfied. He also went out of the way to give some more maintenance tips to avoid these issues and also save some cost. He provided a detailed estimate of the fix along with setting the expectations for the time to get this fixed because of procuring the rare parts. I followed up with the company on the status of parts and subsequent appointment, and was smooth process throughout. For the fix, Constantine again arrived promptly and fixed the motor outside to avoid any mess inside the house. The HVAC looks and sounds like new now. The technician confirmed that the refrigerant charge was correct and that the system was cooling properly. Based on the diagnosis, the noise appeared to be coming from the compressor. Unfortunately, instead of discussing different repair or replacement options, the conversation immediately shifted to a proposal to replace the outdoor unit and evaporator coil for nearly $12,000. My original goal was to explore whether replacing only the outdoor condenser was a viable option, but that was never meaningfully discussed. I also found the estimate to be at the very high end of the market for a single stage system. I paid a $60 diagnostic fee and was told that it would be credited toward the installation if I decided to move forward. However, the estimate I received did not reflect that credit or mention it anywhere. Overall, I left feeling that the visit was focused more on selling a replacement system than helping me find the most practical and cost effective solution.

I was able to get on teir schedule the very next afternoon. Rod showed up on time and performed a few tests to confirm the problem. It was the capacitor that kicks off the blower motor. He performed a few extra maintenance checks, which were above and beyond my expectations. He was able to replace the capacitor, complete all other checks, and put the whole heater back together in under an hour. The whole visit was fast, friendly, and a good value. All of which was a VERY pleasant surprise for an in home repair visit. Highly recommend this company.
