This boba shop is so cute and has a great location right next to many Asian food places. The service was quick as they worked hard to get as many drinks out to a long line. I got the surprise plush drink where a plush comes out of the cup! It's such a cute concept and i enjoyed my drink as well. It is a bit on the smaller side and fills up really quickly with lots of people. They have lots of different boba drink options ranging from fruity to more creamy. You order at an iPad placed at the front counter. It has you enter a phone number so that it can text you when your order is ready; however, the staff do not utilize this. There was a female staff calling the order numbers out, but it was extremely difficult to hear her given the crowd. Cute, small delicious boba spot. They have cute lids you can buy but they only fit the taller cups. They have other decor and some food items as well. Staff was very friendly and make ordering easy. They were very patient with the lady in front of me who had like 7 kids with her. There is an obvious order here and pick up spot and the other customer parked her stroller there. The woman at the counter apologized and handed me my order. Not her fault that lady can't read. Overall great experience and we thought the decor was too cute not to share. Mini bean is adorable. This boba shop is crazy busy at the moment because it's new and they have a plush cup so I get why the wait was INSANE. Half an hour wait for two boba teas and popcorn chicken and the store is too packed that there were no comfortable seats to wait basically, but the boba was delicious and the plushie was adorable! How cute is this place?!?! I've seen their surprise plushie cups everywhere and finally made my way in. The menu is so big and their drinks look unique compared to other boba places that I've been. Just like many other places, you place your order on an ipad - I don't mind this because I like seeing what the drinks look like and can get a flavor profile of what drinks consist of. I ended up getting a lychee peachy green tea slush with creme brulee topping. It was good but I think I expected the consistency to be full slush and not just blended ice. I upgraded an extra $3.50 for the surprise plushie! This was super fun and I would recommend it. If you're picky about plushies but still want one, they sell some cute ones for $3.99. I definitely look forward to coming back and possibly purchasing the bunny ears cap because it's so cute. read more

I got the Lychee & Watermelon green tea, which was so fresh that there were watermelon chunks at the bottom. It was so refreshing and I loved that I could distinctly taste the tea as well. They're best known for their Surprise Bunny Cup, which is a cup that comes with a plushie inside! I loved the whole experience of opening the bottom of the cup and discovering which plushie I got. And the plushie was really cute (see my picture). Also, the interior is stunning. Everything is pink and bunny themed, and I loved the Bean setup as well. This's by far the best boba tea place on the strip! My go to drink is the milk tea, with taro and mochi! If you want something fruity, would recommend the mango pomelo sago! This's one of the few places that actually lets you do 0% sugar! The drinks have really good flavors, it's not like the powdered mix boba drinks you get in some other places. The store is all pink, and well decorated with a bunny theme. It's self service ordering or you can have someone to take your order as well. They do have 3 tablets that you can order from. It is rich and creamy with homemade brown sugar boba and drinkable mochi. The consistency is a little off putting the first few sips but then I was hooked. Every few days I consider the trek to Chinatown to get another one. It's creamy, sweet, the mochi is almost gelatinous but has such a sweet and delicious flavor to it. I was really happy when I saw Ume Tea was going to open in Chicago! You can order from an ipad near the front or you can place an order with the staff at register. If you order on the ipad I noticed there's a $0.25 service fee. If it's crazy busy and you don't want to wait in line, it's not too bad. But you can save yourself a quarter by ordering at the register. I used the ipad and got 3 drinks - all with oat milk. They were pretty busy so I guess the ball was dropped on one of the drinks because one definitely had whole milk in it. This was obviously very disappointing when you're already on Lake Shore Drive. Despite the hiccup with the milk, the drinks were tasty. My favorite is the Strawberry Matcha Slush (dairy free yay!). The surprise cups were fun too! Since then, I have gone back to try other drinks and my other visits were fine. Ume Tea has become one of my favorite boba spots in Chinatown and I look forward to trying more of their food menu next time. read more

It's a lot cleaner than it was during opening month. The pickup area is a little more accessible now. Seating is still limited and no restroom so overall it's still more a grab and go place than a sit and enjoy place, but if nobody's hanging around, it's good to sit and hang out. This place is everything and more! Everyone else giving poor reviews on Google really have something up their bums because I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my time tonight. Today was their grand opening. I've been to a couple of grand openings in the past and this one, in my opinion, was executed amazingly! My coworker and I got off just after 6. We headed straight over. She stood in line while I looked for parking. We had arrived at about 6:40. They warned her it was a 3hr wait from where she was standing, they would close at 9:30, couldn't promise we would make it in. We were willing to wait and I had been hyped up to visit since their stories hit my IG feed. While we waited, they passed out super cute balloons, gave discount cards to everyone, stood in line with us not only to turn others away but also engaging with us. Everyone was amazing and gave the best service. The best and worse part is they stayed open for all of us. They were supposed to close at 9:30. We didn't get to order until about 11:30. We received our boba and popcorn chicken by 11:40. We had been there for 5 hours but it really did not feel like that. I am forever grateful to the entire staff for going above and beyond to still satisfy everyone who had waited. They even accommodated a couple of families that came in quite late to the line. Once inside, they treated us to free fries for our patience. Their fries were great with a nice chili pepper rub which reminded me of a restaurant long gone by my home my cousin and I would frequent after every swim at the pool. We ordered two surprise boba each, popcorn chicken, and a lot of merch. I didn't have time to take pics of everything but can not say enough of amazing the staff was and the long day they all put in. I plan on returning many many more times. I'm going to need a rewards card lol because I absolutely love Ume Tea! Thank you all!!! read more

How cute is this place?! I came to Ume on Sunday, their third day open. I only waited about 20-25 minutes in line, even though the line looked extremely long. They also have a wall of goodies you can purchase such as plushies, cups, and drink pouches. Kinda small inside and there are only 2 small tables inside. I ordered the Black Tea Latte with Taro and Mochi and I absolutely loved it! Probably one of the best drinks I've had in a while. I asked for the tea base to not be sweetened, but I was informed that they already don't add any sweetener to this drink base specifically. The chunks of actual taro were yummy and so was the mochi! My sister got the Oreo Creme Brulee Boba Milk Tea, which she mentioned was really good. We opted for the plush surprise cups. Each drink was $9.45+tax/tip.
