Came here for lunch since I work up the street and I wanted soup since I felt sick. I've been wanting to come here for awhile. It definitely didn't disappoint! I ordered the miso black garlic ramen. I thought it was really good. The meat was cooked perfectly and the broth was really flavorful. The restaurant is small but cute. The service was fast. You order with the waitress at the register and they bring it to your table. When it gets cold out again I'll definitely be back

Very much enjoyed my refreshing grapefruit guava green tea as a post-lunch treat! This is my first visit, but it won't be my last. The staff was friendly, and the interior immaculately clean and inviting. Also love that it's open in the middle of the day for those of us who don't work a regular schedule. My drink was $8.37 with tax and tip.

UMI Tea & Ramen has a wide spread of noodles and drinks that is located across from Ohlone. It's tucked in a little alley so it might be easy to miss. We were the only ones there on a Wednesday afternoon and our food arrived pretty quick. I ordered the Classic Ramen that came with char siu. I thought it was a bit pricey (16.99+tax), considering there was no service at all and you pay beforehand. The ramen was decent and I think it would be a good spot if you want a quick lunch. Just don't think I would go out of my way for this though.

Small ramen shop located across from Ohlone College Fremont. Friendly staff, quick service. Worth a try if you're in the area needing a quick meal.

Review just for the tea. We typically don't go to Umi for food and have been going here primarily for the milk tea. I was needing a little pick me up after work and wanting something a little more standard (green milk tea), and being thwarted by a long line at a different spot, I decided I'd come back to Umi. In short, boba is still great and the milk tea quite tasty and well made. L O C A T I O N There used to be a window on the alleyway where we'd usually order the tea, but now they've boarded that up and just have folks come in through the restaurant. I N S I D E It's not a huge place but sizeable with multiple tables. M E N U They have a variety of drinks, entrees, and snacks. I specifically got the Jasmine Milk Tea which already comes with boba. The prices are pretty on the same level as other places. Sugar level is defaulted at 25% and you can change the level of ice. I typically get no ice. The Jasmine green tea flavor is present and not bitter. The milkiness is lovely. The boba still a good chew. S E R V I C E Easily ordered at the desk and paid with touchless payment. Drinks came out quite quickly. I don't know if they still do a frequent buyer card as I wasn't offered a card and I believe the last time I went I asked and the person who helped me had no clue. O V E R A L L As mentioned, it's a solid place for standard boba drinks. I should probably try their actual food but for now all I want is boba. Definitely try them out if you're in the area!

    Gyu ramen

They have slightly different ramen really just based on the protein the ramen is topped with. Most ramen places just do the chashu but over here they have a beef, fried chicken, or scallop ramen. I think only the scallop ramen would have a significant flavor change in terms of broth. The gyu ramen is described as a black pepper onion beef but you barely taste the black pepper... It's more like the beef you get in a gyu don or beef rice bowl. The noodles were solid and the broth was tasty. Overall, solid ramen spot. It's a bit pricey for what the is... About $18.5 which is on the higher end. I think the portion could be a lil better for the price. Wouldn't make a detour but if I was in the area and wanted ramen def wouldn't mind coming back and trying the other options

    Cha-Shu Don
    Angel H.

The Cha-Shu Don is the best value item on the menu. It consists of Japanese chashu (usually found on top of tonkatsu udon), white rice, and some broth at the bottom of the bowl. It's a combination I've never heard of but it's so good. It is a smaller portion though, so it's perfect for a small meal if you're not too hungry. The service is good and the environment is clean and quiet. Perfect for a study session or a lunch with friends.

    Chicken Karaage

Between you and me, Umi Tea and Ramen feels like it's just you and me at the restaurant - there is little to no service and what little there is seems like it requires a bit of proactiveness from the customer. It was not a great first impression. When you first arrive, hope that there are parking spots available for your car to fit in. This lot is notorious for cars taking up just a tad more than their share rendering the spot next to them unusable. There is also street parking but it's a bit of a walk. The shop is accessed through the small alley and around the corner near the main road, Mission Boulevard. Once you enter, don't expect anyone to greet you or introduce you to their ordering process. You may find a seat/table for you and your party. There are mainly tables for max 4 guests so if you have bigger parties, personally, I'd recommend going elsewhere or just getting drinks and leave. After getting situated, take a picture of the menu or refer to one online via Yelp to figure out what to order. There is surprisingly no menu for a dine in restaurant. Then walk your way up to the register, ring the bell, and wait for the staff member to come and take your order. As for the items on the menu, there's a good spread ranging from appetizers to desserts, ramen, udon, and rice bowls, and milk tea and fruit tea drinks. The food and drinks are decent but rather pricey for the portion and quality. Brown sugar milk tea - looks beautiful and tasted great. The boba had a decent chew and sweetness level was perfect. They default to 25% sweetness and it works for this drink given the brown sugar syrup on the side. I requested no ice but unfortunately they still served my drink with ice. Chicken karaage - fresh and hot, crispy exterior and juicy interior pieces of chicken thigh paired with a sweet and spicy sauce. Delicious! Black garlic ramen - decent black garlic oil flavor, not the strongest but decent. Flavorful soup that's not too salty or rich. Two slices of pork, one half egg, some bamboo shoots, sliced wood ear mushrooms, a small sheet of seaweed, and an abundance of noodles. It's good, but not worth the price point. Shoyu ramen - pretty light broth compared to the pork broth and decent mix of toppings. Pretty much the same ingredients except for the addition of corn. Again, it's good but expensive for what you're getting. Chashu don - small bowl of rice with a good portion of pork. The pork was a bit on the drier side and there wasn't a whole lot of sauce to go with it. A lot of rice makes it good for sharing or a stand-alone meal for one not so hungry person. It's pricey for the portion size and lack of variety in ingredients. After dining, there wasn't much of an interaction with staff. We assumed they would bus the table and left. The atmosphere is quiet and the shop is relatively clean. A few folks seem to be from the nearby college simply sipping their drinks and studying. There is no wifi access here unfortunately. Bathroom wasn't stocked with toilet seat liners and the toilet paper dispenser is very restrictive (I would assume a poor fit for the roll or a method to limit use). However, the single stall bathroom was clean for the most part. Overall, the drinks are average in price (about 6-7 bucks a drink) and the food is astronomically priced for the portion and quality you get. I would skip the food and only get drinks here. Furthermore, given the lack of service, I would also refrain from dining in and simply take your drinks to go. Even then, there are many more competent places here in Fremont that serve great drinks, phenomenal food, exceptional service and all that with fair prices. You won't be missing much if you simply just drove past here.

I had planned on visiting this place sooner, but the Pandemic threw a wrench at my plans. I finally had the chance to try it out. You place your order before taking a seat. I selected the Black Garlic Oil Miso Ramen, Crispy Gyoza, and Rose Oolong Tea. The place was near capacity, but I found a table. The Rose Oolong Tea came out first. I've had their Teas before, and their Oolong Teas were their specialty. The Rose flavor was unique. Next came the Gyoza. They were indeed crispy and yummy. Finally came the Ramen. The Ramen and Broth were slurp-worthy. I will be back to sample more of their menu.

i usually like pho more than ramen but this place is epic! i ordered the black garlic oil ramen and it was DELICIOUS! you do have to pay for the heat which was 1.50 for #2 which was DEF worth it!! i will come back here again!

I visited Umi Tea a lot during undergrad and it still holds up well! Umi tea offers affordable dine in and take out ramen & boba. The owner is very friendly and attentive with customers. The interior is abit small but offers lots of natural lighting within.

I had the Ramen with a little bit of spice. It was great, and it came out fast.. good spot for a quick, hot lunch

    J J.

Food taste, 3/5, decent taste with the spicy garlic oil ramen. The pork quality is low but cooked right. Broth temperature is cold probably due to getting to the end of the business hour? Ramen chosen is pretty decent and I Iike it. Service, not much service needed so I just paid 15% upfront when placed the order. Environment, cozy but the location was not prime Price, very high compares to what other things you get out of this restaurant, every option is extra. Overall, we won't come back!

From M-F, 11:30am-2pm (closing) for just $19.90, you get to pick one of the ramen bowls, and one of appetizers that are listed (at half the size). Here's what we got: FRIED OYSTERS (5) - $12 This was not one of the appetizer options to the lunch specials but sis really needed her fried oysters, haha. This comes with a side of creamy sauce that tasted like a yummy potato salad. It was awesome! The fried oysters were very hot to be careful, and it was very much enjoyed even though it scraped the roof of my mouth, haha. TONKOTSU RAMEN - $16.95 Tonkotsu (Pork Broth) chashu pork, green onion, yellow onion, soft boiled egg, fried green onion, kikurage mushroom. I'm happy that we get a WHOLE egg and not just half! Everything about this bowl was so good and creamy! GYOZA (6) - $8 Chicken/Veggie pan fried post stickers. The lunch specials only come with 3 pieces, and I'm always happy when your savory finger food comes with a dip! No complaints here! KARAAAGE (6) - $10 Fried Boneless Chicken. The lunch specials only come with 3 pieces, but they are huge! Juicy dark meat pieces, with a nice creamy srirarcha dipping sauce! Also hot, so be careful! It just means it's fresh! They have a back room that was nice and quiet. You can smell the fresh clean laundry from the laundromat next door, haha. The service was great, and everyone was so nice and attentive. We enjoyed ourselves very much, and was happily full with leftovers to snack on later!

Their lunch set has great value, pairing an already filling ramen dish with a heavy appetizer! 4/5 - Tonkotsu Ramen - Savory and well-portioned in each of the ingredients! If it's your first time trying ramen and don't want to go too crazy, you can try this. It is very delicious, but if you've had regular tonkotsu ramen before, I highly recommend trying the Kuro or Aka! 5/5 - Kuro Tonkotsu Ramen - The black garlic oil really enhances the tonkotsu flavor in a smoky, umami way. If you haven't tried a black garlic oil broth, I highly recommend you try it here! You will not be disappointed. 5/5 - Aka Tonkotsu Ramen - My personal favorite of the ramen bowls we all tried here. The spicy level can be adjusted and was exactly the spice level we thought it would be (we chose Level 2). The flavor is a bit more elevated than the regular tonkotsu ramen, likely from the spice that you should not find too overwhelming. 5/5 - Chashu Don (Appetizer) - The rice and chashu makes this its own little meal and is super savory and filling...as an appetizer! This is great to share with your party, and it seems to taste differently from the chashu you get in your ramen. You won't regret trying this! 5/5 - Chicken Karaage (Appetizer) - The chicken in this dish was very juicy, and the portions were huge! The sauce they give also compliments this well. You won't be disappointed with choosing this for an appetizer.

Upon my arrival the kind host greeted me immediately and allowed me to take a seat. I was unsure of what to order and I had asked the host what to get and he positioned for me to try the coconut miso ramen and lemme tell you it was honestly one of the best bowls of ramen I've had. The broth was incredibly rich and velvety, with the coconut adding a subtle natural sweetness that complemented the deep umami of the miso instead of overpowering it. It created a balanced, layered flavor that was both comforting and surprisingly refined. Every spoonful had depth, and the broth was so good that I found myself wanting to finish every last drop. The noodles had an excellent texture, firm with just the right amount of chew--allowing them to hold onto the broth beautifully. The toppings were fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and blended seamlessly with the overall dish, adding texture and flavor without distracting from the star of the bowl. What impressed me most was how harmonious everything tasted. Fusion flavors can sometimes feel forced, but this ramen was exceptionally well executed. The coconut and miso worked together to create something unique while still respecting the traditional character of ramen. If you're looking for a bowl that's comforting, flavorful, and a little different from the usual tonkotsu or shoyu, I can't recommend the Coconut Miso Ramen at Tadamasa highly enough. It's the kind of meal that stays on your mind long after you've finished eating, and I'll definitely be coming back for it. You ever slapped a lady while giving her the old baloney pony and it made you realize that this is the best thing ever to happen? It's similar to that feeling
