    Black garlic oil Ramen
    Kerry R.

Tadamasa has always been our go-to when we're craving ramen. Their unique, flavorful options never disappoint, especially the miso coconut, which is my absolute favorite, with the black garlic oil a very close second. The garlic edamame is solid, but the salt and pepper calamari is an absolute must. The space is small and cozy as is the parking, but the service is always attentive, and the food is consistently great.

Cute, modern ramen spot tucked away in a small shopping center. The vibe is cozy and stylish without feeling cramped. I tried the coconut miso ramen -- super unique and absolutely delicious! You can really tell the ingredients are fresh. The staff is kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Only thing to note is that the food can take a bit to come out, but it's worth the wait for how fresh and flavorful everything is. Definitely a hidden gem I'd come back to!

The best ramen in the Union City / South Hayward area. We've been coming here for years and will continue to.

A quick, reliable option. I ordered the Curry Chicken, which had chicken katsu, carrots, potatoes, and noodles. The noodles tasted fresh and not soggy. The veggies were chopped up into small squares, which made it easy to eat. The chicken katsu was good and still had a crunchy taste to it. The broth itself was not thick, which made it easier to actually sip. It's a small spot, so it would be hard to bring groups larger than four. The service was pretty quick, with one server and the chefs in the back. Would come back to try some of their rice bowls!

A good ramen spot in Fremont that has been here for years! Will you give it a chance? I have been going here for a couple years now. Every time the ramen craving hits, this place is convenient to go to. They are in a shopping plaza that isn't too busy so there is always plenty of parking. This restaurant is very small. Only have a couple of tables inside. They usually aren't very busy so we usually find a seat when we go. I usually order the black garlic ramen when I visit. I am usually the type to always order 1 thing if I like it. Too scared of not liking something if I try something else lol. This bowl always hits the spot. Flavorful broth, salty and fatty, noodles has a good chew to them, good chashu, and simple but good toppings. The broth i think is also tonkotsu due to the color and flavor with the added black garlic oil. Overall I would highly recommend it if you want some simple ramen and don't want to wait hours for it. Service is quick, prices are okay, and food is good.

Tan Tan Spicy Ramen with pork belly (super dry)

This is not the same Japanese run Tadamasa as in the past. Looks like it has been sold and now run by a Chinese owner. The dead giveaways are the hand written sign of "Xiao Long Bao available" on the wall. It has been remodeled inside but with an eye of early 2000 look. We decided to give it a try anyways. We were one of two tables currently in the restaurant on a Friday night. Tan Tan Spicy Pork Belly Ramen - 1/5: The broth lacked in flavor depth that you expect from a good ramen spot. The pork belly was tough and dry, which I have never experienced with such a fatty piece of meat. Probably the first time in my life that I have not eaten all my meat. Noodles and the egg were fine, but that was it. Chicken katsu ramen 2/5: the chicken katsu was good, broth also lacked in flavor. It tasted very close to a cup o noodle instant broth. Noodles and egg were fine. Service was good mostly because we were the only ones in the restaurant for half of our dinner. Overall, I do not need to come back. I hope the new owners see this and improve on their offerings. I wish them the best as I hate to give struggling business owners a bad review.

Came with a party of three at opening on a Monday evening. Decor was somewhat reminiscent of Grandma's house, with clear plastic sheets lining each table. The restaurant was empty besides 1 other customer and staffed with 1 server, and our food took about 15 minutes to come out. Chicken Katsu Curry Ramen: only got this because I was curious, but at one of the highest price points on the menu, I expected more than what seemed like watered-down Golden Curry broth and a smattering of diced carrots and potatoes. Points for the fry on the katsu and chew on the noodles, but this was a real downer for me. Coconut Miso Ramen: novelty of the heavily sweet coconut broth lasted about three spoonfuls. Shrimp was fried well and one of the more notable parts of the entire meal. Tonkotsu Ramen: probably the best item of the night. Broth was sufficiently savory and pork had great tenderness and char. Definitely wasn't my cup of tea, but it might be yours.

Tucked away on a small strip mall. Small cozy restaurant, relatively clean. My daughter and I sat at one of their tables. Water and menu promptly given. We ordered the takoyaki, black garlic oil ramen and the cherry chicken rice. The takoyaki came out first and it was delicious. Crunchy outer layer and inside had a small piece of octopus in it. My curry chicken rice came out next and it was super flavorful. All the veggies were cut to the same size. It was very aromatic and had a nice kick to the curry. The black oil garlic ramen was very flavorful as well, we could smell the broth being prepared. The broth was tasty and the noodles were coated with the same garlicky goodness. Delicious and affordable, definitely a win in my book.

Super small shop and we tried the black garlic ramen, coconut miso, and tan tan ramen. Overall I would say the best one is the coconut miso ramen. It was unique and had a little bit of sweetness to it. I would skip the tan tan and the black garlic ramen. It was wayyy too salty (and I love salty things) but I could barely finish the broth. I like the thickness of the noodles but would try their other unique things next time.

Came for a bowl of ramen for lunch, since it was a cold and rainy day. We were able to get a table quickly and ordered within minutes. I ended up going for the black garlic oil ramen, which is one of their special ramen. The ramen came with noodles, 4 slices of chashu, bamboo, spinach, and half an egg. The noodles had a nice chew to them and were cooked well. I think the amount of meat was decent but the meat seemed to have somewhat of a refrigerated taste to it. It was hard to ignore that taste, which was disappointing because the meat is one of the main parts of ramen. Hard to explain but I've definitely had better. The black garlic in the broth definitely shined. The flavor was strong and was salted just right. I wish the egg was soft-boiled but that's a personal preference. Overall, a decent meal for lunchtime and quick and simple. Staff was nice and checked on the table regularly. They also have a coconut miso ramen that looked interesting!

Thai sweet chili ramen. Really good
    Frank L.

I've had this ramen spot a few times now over the years. They have two pretty unique ramens you wont find anywhere else, the coconut miso and Thai sweet chili ramen. The Thai sweet chili broth was really good. It reminds me of Tom yum but creamier and less sour. Noodles were nice and firm the way I like it. Finally the pork belly, loved that they charred it. The flavor was really good. Not the most tender I've ever but was def solid. The meat portion was also not bad. I counted 5 slices! Overall, really good ramen spot to check out. Would def come back if I was in the area.

From M-F, 11:30am-2pm (closing) for just $19.90, you get to pick one of the ramen bowls, and one of appetizers that are listed (at half the size). Here's what we got: FRIED OYSTERS (5) - $12 This was not one of the appetizer options to the lunch specials but sis really needed her fried oysters, haha. This comes with a side of creamy sauce that tasted like a yummy potato salad. It was awesome! The fried oysters were very hot to be careful, and it was very much enjoyed even though it scraped the roof of my mouth, haha. TONKOTSU RAMEN - $16.95 Tonkotsu (Pork Broth) chashu pork, green onion, yellow onion, soft boiled egg, fried green onion, kikurage mushroom. I'm happy that we get a WHOLE egg and not just half! Everything about this bowl was so good and creamy! GYOZA (6) - $8 Chicken/Veggie pan fried post stickers. The lunch specials only come with 3 pieces, and I'm always happy when your savory finger food comes with a dip! No complaints here! KARAAAGE (6) - $10 Fried Boneless Chicken. The lunch specials only come with 3 pieces, but they are huge! Juicy dark meat pieces, with a nice creamy srirarcha dipping sauce! Also hot, so be careful! It just means it's fresh! They have a back room that was nice and quiet. You can smell the fresh clean laundry from the laundromat next door, haha. The service was great, and everyone was so nice and attentive. We enjoyed ourselves very much, and was happily full with leftovers to snack on later!

If it's your first time trying ramen and don't want to go too crazy, you can try this. It is very delicious, but if you've had regular tonkotsu ramen before, I highly recommend trying the Kuro or Aka! 5/5 - Kuro Tonkotsu Ramen - The black garlic oil really enhances the tonkotsu flavor in a smoky, umami way. If you haven't tried a black garlic oil broth, I highly recommend you try it here! You will not be disappointed. 5/5 - Aka Tonkotsu Ramen - My personal favorite of the ramen bowls we all tried here. The spicy level can be adjusted and was exactly the spice level we thought it would be (we chose Level 2). The flavor is a bit more elevated than the regular tonkotsu ramen, likely from the spice that you should not find too overwhelming. 5/5 - Chashu Don (Appetizer) - The rice and chashu makes this its own little meal and is super savory and filling...as an appetizer! This is great to share with your party, and it seems to taste differently from the chashu you get in your ramen. You won't regret trying this! 5/5 - Chicken Karaage (Appetizer) - The chicken in this dish was very juicy, and the portions were huge! The sauce they give also compliments this well. You won't be disappointed with choosing this for an appetizer.

Otherwise, portion sizes were also big for the price point, and the quality was beyond my expectations. Since it was our first time here, we were a little cautious and just ordered what we needed. But next time I'll definitely try the big plate chicken and pig ears!

Was going to another noodle place but it seems it was no longer there so we decided come here to…read moresince it is in the same plaza. This is not our first time here. There seems to have some menu change since the last time we came. We ordered 2 dry noodles and a cold spicy pig ears appetizer. The pig ears were piled up with no fillers - something hard to find these days. You can select the type of noodles so I picked the widest while my husband picked the middle one. I love the el dente texture of the noodles giving it a bit of chew. My braised pork belly dry noodles was not dry... very watery which was not to my liking. I want my dry noodles with as little gravy as possible. The flavor was light despite all the gravy, but the veggies and one egg made it up. The house special dry noodles had just the right amount of gravy for taste but not enough ingredients. I was wondering why the restaurant is called One Piece... I guess the entire bowl of noodles is one piece noodle as it was hard to eat as all the noodles are tangled. No complaints here just need to be careful with the splashes on your shirt. Overall the food was good, service was decent as we were offered actual menu instead of only using QR code to order. The place was not small with plenty of table. A bit noise as with all Chinese restaurants.
