I loved the mount of pork they gave and how tender they were. It was pretty spicy too which I loved. Usually the spice level is not too strong. The veggies also tasted fresh and tasty!! I've been to this plaza quite a few times and haven't had a chance to check them out until recently. If you are ever getting your car serviced at Auto Mall, this is a quick walk over. When we arrived, we were told to choose any table. The restaurant was fairly empty and there were a decent amount of seats. It's a cute set up with sake barrels displayed and the utensils on the table like a typical ramen shop. We ordered champon ramen combo with okonomiyaki and a chicken karaage bowl. The champon ramen was unique because its usually a korean dish, but not bad. I think it would've been better if the noodles were thicker. The okonomiyaki was also pretty good! We would love to have seen it with a noodle option since they are a ramen shop. The chicken karaage came hot and crispy. The service overall was pretty quick. They came by with water as soon as we sat down and told us about their ordering system. Once we ordered the food came by pretty quickly as well. Definitely will be back. read more

This is quite a quiet place to go to on a Saturday. I mean there weren't many people when I got here. I wasn't expecting only a couple of customers here. The ambiance is really nice with all of their decorations. I'm hoping that most ramen places are like this. They have us order via QR code, but that wasn't the only time that we have to use QR. They also allow us to gain access to their WiFi through QR as well. I also like how quiet the service is since it does not pressure the staff to come back and forth with ordering. I wanted to get the Chicken Katsu Ramen because it seems to stand out compared to the rest of the ramen I looked at. It's good that they separate the Katsu from the ramen since some of us don't want the soup to soak it. It's really crunchy to be honest and the chili oil blends well with the broth. Overall rating: 4/5 I came around 7pm with a friend on a Wednesday night and it wasn't too crowded. The interior was clean and simple with mildly dim lighting. Compared to other ramen places, you will find many interesting and unique takes of ramen to choose from on Sojo's menu (tom yum, mala tonkotsu, mentaiko tonkotsu, wasabi shoyu, habanero chili lime - to name a few). You are given an order form where you can choose your add-ons and customize the ramen to your liking from size of noodle to spice level. I ordered: -Mala tonkotsu (4/5): the broth was rich and creamy and the noodles had a good chew. However, I couldn't really taste much of the Mala flavor. The servers were all friendly and attentive and our orders came out pretty fast. As this place is located in Pacific Commons, there's plenty of parking in the parking lot. Would I come back? Got the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen with regular noodles. The dominant flavor in the broth was the black garlic with hint of bitterness. Could not taste the base pork flavor at all. The half egg had a jelly yolk and was also good with slight sweetness to it. The Sukiyaki bowl was one of the best I've had. I only got the the side size portion. Wished I got the full size entree. Meat was sweet with ginger and onion flavor. The thin slices of meat was soft with good fat to meat ratio.. caramelizes onions accompanied the meat. The Sukiyaki meat sits on top of perfectly cooked rice. The Takoyaki was not fishy. And was not mushy..it was cooked throughout including the center vs the runny versions I've tried before. My wife and I chose Sojo ramen having seen many people wondering around this shop for lunch. The inside is nice and dark. We sat down and started ordering from their menu. Once I saw how the menu is printed, man, can't they do better job on pictures in the menu? It definitely doesn't look professionally made and the way the ramens were listed were a little off. Both my wife and I were a little concerned as to how the food would go. Would it reflect the callousness of the menu? We both ordered the black garlic ramen. And... The ramen was to our surprise extremely well prepared. The broth was thick and the soup has a heavy garlic base to it. This was probably one of the BEST ramen in Fremont I've had. As a lover of ramen myself, the broth is everything. Unfortunately, a lot of ramen shops in the area uses similar broth base universally made. It won't make it taste bad, but there's nothing special about the broth either. It definitely felt that the owner and the cooks of Sojo Ramen took the time to fine tune the broth and it shows once you eat the ramen. This place is such a hidden gem, I'm surprised I haven't heard about it as much because this is seriously the best ramen I've had in the Bay Area. The ramen was so packed, delicious, and extremely flavorful. You get to choose your noodle type, spice level, and if you'd like any other add-ons. Ordering was contactless but even the service was still extremely kind. The chicken karaage was juicy and tender, and the sauce that came with it was like a lemon aioli that definitely kicked the appetizer up a knotch. We also had the chashu fries -- which were dried chashu shavings sprinkled on some fries with a bit of fried pork bits on top. Also a great appetizer but I was so full at this point I couldn't finish them. Compliments to the chef. Stopped in for a weekday lunch and it was not busy around noon. Interior is spacious and nicely decorated. You order through a QR code and the "cart" actually updates for the whole table on each phone which is convenient, so everyone can add their food from their own phones but only one person needs to submit it. Service was attentive with filling waters. I ordered the chicken katsu ramen and I found the katsu to be overcooked and underseasoned. It was crunchy but not tender and the breading overpowered the meat. However, the broth was delicious! It was creamy, flavorful, and had a nice kick from the chili oil without actually being spicy to me. I also chose the "less salt" option on the menu which was nice to have. The marinated egg was also bursting with flavor! Honestly I would have enjoyed this same bowl of ramen without the katsu cutlet on top. Slowly got busy around dinner time. I also visited a second time with my bf on a weekend- noon time, not busy at all! What I like about this place is you can create your own Ramen bowl or you can choose from the pre-set menu. I opted for Tonkatsu for my base, rice noodles, no extra seasoning, LIGHT salt, extra cilantro/green onion. By default, it already comes with pork chasu, egg, seaweed, and mushrooms. I thought the bowl was delicious and my favorite part of it is that you get the option to choose how salty you want it, being someone who doesn't really like too much salt in my food and of course, ramen is more on the saltier side of things I loved having that option. I thought it was a mobile individual order QR code system so I ordered my food and clicked checkout, but little did I know that it was the whole table checkout. This place has went through a few ownership changes over the last 2 years, last owners kind of tanked it but now it's back to its original glory! Ambiance is very nice with not-bright lights, and staff are very kind. This is our main place for ramen and it always leaves us full and happy! Food comes out fast, and ramen stays hot for a while! Ramen comes with a lot of toppings. Spicy miso ramen - nice amount of heat, and meat is thin so it's a good addition to a handful of noodles. When I first saw Sojo on instagram and took a look at the reviews here, I knew I had to come try it out for the nontraditional flavors. Ngl, when I arrived on Thursday at 7pm and saw that it was pretty empty, I had low expectations. But, turned out to be a decent ramen spot that I plan to go back to. Short summary if you don't want to continue reading: My favorite broths were the tom yum and black garlic with the combo add on of curry scrambled egg rice bowl. You're able to customize the type of noodles, salt levels, sauces/oils, add extra toppings, and add on a rice bowl as a combo. The service was great and were super attentive with filling our water cups and checking in on us. Food: 4/5 I absolutely loved the tom yum ramen with the combo add on of the curry scrambled egg. Not only did it taste like tom yum, it was flavorful, light and not too salty. And for someone who can never decided between curry or ramen, the add on was something I could appreciate. The mentaiko rice bowl was also a really nice dish to add on, if you don't get the mentaiko ramen. My next favorites were the black garlic and chili garlic shoyu. I do recommend getting less salt because depending on the broth it can get to be really salty. The mala was not bad, but definitely wouldn't get that one. While the ramen itself wasn't anything super special, I really can appreciate the variety and unique flavor options. The flavor profiles of all of the ones we had matched what we had expected. Service/Staff: 5/5 The staff were super attentive and nice! They kept our water cups filled, checked in on us frequently (but not an overwhelming amount of times), and got us our food fairly quickly. I have no complaints! Space/Parking: 4/5 The restaurant is small, so I can imagine that it could get real crowded and have some wait time if you have a larger group. It was pretty empty when we went and we were a group of 7, so I guess it just depends on the day and time! But the space was clean and had some nice decor. Food came out quickly and I really enjoyed my bowl of veggie spicy garlic shoyu ramen w/ tofu noodles (similar texture as shirataki noodles)! For a bowl of ramen, the presentation was really well done. I ate before remembering to snap a photo so you'll have to take my word on this. The servers were polite and prompt with water refills. Our initial spot didn't work out so we headed here to get a warm bowl of ramen. My friends have told me this place was one of the better spots to go to. I ended up getting a black garlic ramen ($17). The ramen came out really nicely presented. What was even better was the taste of garlic that was in the soup. It wasn't overly pungent but was strong enough to hit you with garlic. The bowl came with a good amount of toppings and noodles and came with 3 slices of meat and a soft-boiled egg. The noodles had a great chew and were cooked well. Overall, a really good meal. Staff was nice. You fill out a paper order form to tell them what you would like. They also provide storemade chili oil to complement the ramen. Sojo ramen recently updated their interior design as well as their menu. The staff and owner were both incredibly friendly and I love the updated menu with extra options! I'm not a huge fan of rich tonkatsu broth since I drink the soup and it gets heavy after a few bites. This place has a clear sukiyaki broth that was absolutely delicious. The first time I got it, I didn't like the poached egg it came with. It was cold and undercooked. I came back the following week, requested them to sub with a soft boiled egg and it was absolute perfection. It was jammy and delicious. The only thing is that I wish their thick noodle was thicker. I'm surprised that they have a thinner noodle option than the one we got. Overall though, I'm sure you'll find something on the menu that you'll love! Wow. Another restaurant that blew my mind. Again, I'm not an elite..... but damn. We came here after hiking mission peak as a second choice after another restaurant took too long to seat us. The menu and pics on Yelp didn't do it justice AT ALL, and you can't taste it through pictures. We came in a little before 2 pm and they had digital and physical menu. I was suprised he didn't go for the tom yum but he wanted to be on the safe side. I had the mala spicey tonkotsu with crispy garlic, roasted seaweed, and green onions. We had the okonomiyaki add on. Let me just say the flavor was chefs kiss. Mala had that numbing sensation and tonkotsu was very flavorful and full bodied. The soft boiled eggs were perfection, and was marinated and soooooo delicious. The okonomiyaki side was also flavorful and well put together with sauce, mayo, furikake/seaweed, and pickled ginger. They had some extra sauce and condiments in the table and I recommend you put at least 1 spoonful of the garlic sauce in your ramen to level it up! This place had all my favorite umami dishes and flavors: tonkotsu, mala spice, okonomiyaki. Like, I can't ask for more. So glad I found this and it's near work!
