This is my favorite soup shop ever!! They have variety in soup options and to my knowledge, they change the soup menu every day. My all time favorite was the cauliflower feta soup or the chorizo pumpkin soup. The employees are awesome. Shoutout PJ (I believe that's their name), they are so lovely and have amazing desserts:) The ambiance is relaxing and their music playlists are superior. I was craving a grilled cheese and some soup recently so I ordered a pickup order from Uncle Cheetah's Soup Shop. Their menu includes 10+ different soups each day, as well as several sandwiches and some salads. I ordered the garage sale: white cheddar, fresh mozz, rosemary goat mousse, havarti, and swiss on challah. I also got the steak and mushroom soup and the snert soup for Nate. When I arrived my order was waiting for me - it was nicely packaged and secure so everything was safely contained for my short drive home. The sandwich wasn't very melty, I ended up heating it up in a pan myself which helped. It was super tasty, though! I love the combination of cheeses. The steak and mushroom soup was really good, with chunks of meat in a creamy broth. The snert soup was very salty! The menu description indicated the snert soup should have sausage or kielbasa in it, but we didn't notice any. The restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating, but I'd probably just order there next time. You can also get samples. read more

This has been one of my favorite spots in Grand Rapids since ~2018 and I always make a point to eat here at least once whenever I'm back in town. There is some seating inside but my friends and I love to sit outside when the weather permits. There's a table in front as well as one out back. I used to always get the Old Goat, which has main flavors of rosemary and goat cheese, but this time I decided to branch out and try something new. I ended up getting the Pickle Puss, which had dill pickles and jalapeño cream cheese on it. It was yummy but not as good as the Old Goat. Might have to revert back to my old ways next time I visit (why fix something that's not broken?) or maybe I'll try one of their future creations. We'll see! read more

Overall a good experience Food was good and lots of options. Food didn't take too long but you do need to wait a moment. May be faster if you are only getting soup. The space is small and seating was a bit cramped. I wouldn't cone with more than 3 people max if you are hoping to be able to sit. But great if you want to grab it and head home. Shop was very loud due to the small space, music playing and people talking but thats expected. For me the cost seemed a bit high. The sandwiches just come on a standard size bread you would make at home and most of the options are just various ways to make a grilled cheese. And while they taste good, they are still $10 or more for a grilled cheese. Same for the soups, they taste good and lots of choices but for the small (12oz) you are still paying $8 or more. Which means even for just a standard grilled cheese and tomato soup you are spending $18 or more so it feels a bit expensive at that point. I had a Ruben (on standard sized bread) and a pastrami soup for $23. Also, no real need to upgrade for a $1 for the roll to come with your soup. Not really anything special about it. But again overall it did taste good on a cold day. Just which the cost was slightly lower and seating didn't feel cramped. read more

Wow this restaurant is delicious! I love going in and sampling the new soup flavors they have every day. My favorite is the potato gouda - if you haven't tried it, you need to. I love to pair my potato gouda with a grilled cheese sandwich (I recommend the Old Goat). Wow and the staff here are great! They are all so kind and willing to answer questions and give out samples. Soups from this spot will warm up your bones! So yummy and so many options. They offer unlimited samples before you commit to one or two or three! I love their tomato saffron and lobster bisque. They have a great selection of sandwiches, sliders, and salads as well. The actual restaurant has a casual vibe with a fun personality. The window has a humongous ladle hanging from its window and many types of cheetah statues/figures inside. :) If you find yourself figuring out a way to make it through a Grand Rapids winter, this is a great pick-me-up spot! read more

Tried some of the same soup at the chop house in GR and theirs didn't even compare to uncle's On top of that, they're constantly switching up the soups and changing them with the seasons. Still really wish they had the other location with the disco bathroom! and they had lobster bisque there at that one every day. So that makes me sad that location closed. Love this place. My wife brought me here to get my Dad some soup while he was in the hospital. Clearly progressive (we love) and friendly staff. Ambiance is cute, cozy, friendly and welcoming to all. Rotating menu and you can taste test ANY and ALL. Deep flavors and delicious bread comes with soups. Came back 2 days later for more. Tables were dirty but the staff came out and cleaned them. They get jam-packed around lunch rush so as to be expected, have a hard time keeping up on the cleans. I can look past this if the food smashes, and it does! I always hear great things about this place and I'm glad there was finally an opportunity for me to try it. Super quick service and great prices. You really can't beat it. They have a couple different sizes of soups you can order so I went for the smallest size of lobster bisque and I also got their garage sale grilled cheese. Literally so tasty and really hit the spot. Their soups also come with bread of your choice. I know that they rotate soup flavors and they typically post their menu on their social media accounts every morning! There is some table seating and bar top seating inside if you want to dine-in but they also package your food so that you can take it to go immediately. Nice to have the choice like that. I placed an online order and set out to pick it up. As I was heading out, I placed a second order; a sandwich for my wife. Upon arrival, I noticed that the soup was ready, but the sandwich was not. They were a bit busy, whatever. I waited about 5-10 minutes, left, came back, still no sandwich. I decided to take the soup out to my vehicle and eat while I waited for the sandwich to be made. Upon opening the soup, it was something completely different, not chicken noodle soup. When I took the soup back in, the gentleman serving up the soups said that there were no other orders under my name, and when I asked about the soup being the wrong type, he then decided to inform me that they had run out of chicken noodle soup. It would have been nice to know that they didn't even have chicken noodle soup, yet I was able to order it online and have it accepted by the restaurant. It would have been even nicer to have been informed upon arrival: "Hey, we ran out of chicken noodle soup so we substituted it with something else". I'm thankful that I discovered this in my vehicle outside of the restaurant rather than driving home and being even more disappointed. I wasted an hour of driving, and then had to argue and show proof that I had paid for the sandwich, which never was made. At this point, I requested a refund. No apology, no attempt to reconcile anything. read more

It's been a really long time since I've had anything Electric Cheetah. I've always their food, prices not so much. But I've heard some great things about their soup shops so I decided to pick up some grub. I liked it so much that I went back for seconds the next day. Tomato saffron bisque - a delicious taste reminiscent of a classic tomato soup! Slightly rough texture and creamy all around. Loved dipping my sandwich into this. Feta sweet potato corn chowder - I'm still dreaming about this. The base tasted like broccoli cheddar soup (instantly perfect) but the added sweet potato, corn, and feta cheese made this soup absolutely incredible. It's sweet, tangy, and full of texture. This might just be my new favorite soup. Raspberry beret sandwich - grilled chicken, rosemary goat cheese, raspberry chipotle jam, and white cheese. The flavors in this were absolutely incredible. I especially liked the raspberry chipotle spread. It gave this really bright sweetness with a little tad of heat in the mouth. Honestly can't beat this sandwich for only $8. Cuban sandwich - I wasn't a huge fan of their Cuban but it certainly wasn't bad. The pickles and spread gave it some zest but otherwise all the flavors were hard to tell apart. Still enjoyed it though. Also, shoutout to their bread. I tried the challah, pretzel, and gluten free rolls. Challah was super fluffy and sweet. The pretzel roll had that delicious signature crust and an airy interior. And somehow I ended up loving (and subsequently ordering 4 more) of the gluten free rolls. I'm not even gluten free but these things are amazing, especially when dipped in soup. They're like a crusty roll and a bit dense which is perfect when paired with soup. All around pretty great stuff from the Cheetah. They rotate their soup menu daily so it's always worth checking out. Great prices too - you can pick up a bowl of soup, bread, and a sandwich for around $15. Went in an ordered the Raspberry Beret sandwich with 16oz of the Curry Corn Chowder soup. Wow...that sandwich was of course, cheesy, gooey, and yet no too heavy. And if I'm going to eat cow's milk cheese, then it better be damn good (due to my lactose intolerance). It more than fit the bill. The soup was warm, both in spice and temperature. It was not an overly spicy curry but the soup had depth. There was plenty of corn and accoutrements. They'll probably tell you this anyway, but get the challah as the bread that comes with the soup. It's a giant roll that you can eat on its own or send swimming amongst the bottom of the bowl to get the leftover goodness. read more

I just love this place. Rotating soups with as many tastes as you want before committing. The red pepper is a staple but I absolutely love it when they make their Pozole... so authentic! My hubby's favorite is Fughgeddaboutit!! It's fun to say but basically is a tomato based Italian soup. I recommend going with a friend and splitting a sandwich or a salad and a soup! So yummy and my favorite place to go on a rainy day. Keep your punch cards and you can earn a free soup. I was just perusing their menu and noticed they make ramen now?!? It's a small shop with TWELVE made-from-scratch soups DAILY on deck & they're generous with samples so you can really find what tickles your fancy. & these soups aren't your run of the mill Campell's canned soups either. They have tantalizing offerings like Samosa (V/GF - Taking after the Indian dumplings, this is a curried cream of potato soup with peas, onions, & garlic) & Thanksgiving Dinner (DF/GF - Everything you'd find at Thanksgiving dinner, hold the Lion's loss. Roasted turkey, sweet potatoes, & green beans in a thickened sage broth & garnished with cranberry chutney.) I ended up with Ratatouille (P/GF A tomato based French vegetable stew with zucchini, yellow squash, roasted red peppers, mirepoix, & garbanzo beans, garnished with cashews) because it was dang good and how could I resist the opportunity to feel like Remy (a la Disney's Ratatouille) ha. I was beyond excited to see they had VEGAN CHEESE. i got the yellow polka dot bikini: lots of veggies, vegan cheeses, and a balsamic reduction. my boyfriend got the Texas Coleslaw Massacre of course. he's a sucker for some pulled pork. our sandwiches were pretty good but on the smaller side. next time i'd skip the sandwich and make my own grilled cheese. I love that the soup menu is rotating but there are always so many options to choose from. The store is certainly eclectic and because the menu changes frequently all soups are written on a chalk board. The descriptions all looked incredible and as a first timer I didn't know where to start. Luckily everyone is allowed to sample before making a purchase which is awesome since the flavor profiles of each were so different! I eventually decided to grab a cup of the Reuben (stand alone) and Tomato Saffron to pair it with The Old Goat Sandwich (White Cheddar, pulled Mozzarella, and Rosemary Goat Cheese Spread). It was comfort food, but not super dense that I couldn't move for the rest of the afternoon. They also have a sister store called The Electric Cheetah, which is more of a traditional sit-down dinning experience with a larger menu (beyond soups and sandwiches), if you were interested and just down the street, but this meal was perfect for what I needed. read more

Once I found that all soups are described on their website I was able to get over my food anxiety. Thing is...you gotta sample the ones you wouldn't normally eat because somehow they mix ingredients I normally avoid...(looking at you Brussels Sprouts) and they make them taste great. Horrible customer service. I walked in the door at 8:01pm and was greeted by a person at the soup counter. While talking to her about what soup I wanted, from the soups visually on display, a guy came from the back and told me they closed at 8:00pm and I would not be served. Even though I just wanted a couple soups to go. Mind you when I walked in their sign was still lit and the door was obviously open. Holy smokes!!! This place was recommended to us after surgery by the surgeon. We reviewed the take out menu as newly post op is scary and exhausting. Sooo many delicious choices!!! Was hopeful to try this place out. We have been to the wealthy street location and expected the same. Unfortunately a handful of big restaurant no-no's occurred. First, we ordered online and were able to choose our soups given the detailed descriptions. However, we ordered the Texas red which is supposed to be beanless but saw that it was loaded with chili beans. Second, this soup was SALTY. As in someone made an error salting the soup. This made the soup inedible. Lastly, we ordered challah bread and got a dinner roll. I just laughed at that point. We did order the meatloaf sandwich, which was good, but a bit overpriced. You drive by it and you're like this is genius, cozy soup place in a place where let's be honest we all need some cozy to survive the winters. But every time they lure me in with the ambiance I'm disappointed. The soup is just meh, the bread is just meh. Most recently I tried the wedding soup (they call it something different) just to be plain and it was super oily and just not good. Also dipping Challah in soup (especially when it's fresh) does exactly what you'd think it would (it disintegrates). Best soup and sandwich place in GR! I could be wrong but I believe they have different flavors of soup every single day, 365 days a year! So you could try something new every time! I've been here twice and both times I've been blown away. TIP: get samples of everything you want to try before you order soup! The workers are so incredibly friendly every time and they are more than happy to give you as many samples as you would like! I've had probably 6 different kinds of their soup and they are all great. I usually get 2 smalls (one of the classic tomato to dip my sandwich in and the other to eat straight!) I also HIGHLY recommend one of their sandwiches with their soups, I get the Spicy Buddha and it is truly amazing. It's like a very fancy grilled cheese and you will not be disappointed. How have I never reviewed this place? We come here every time someone in my family is sick so there should be about 17 reviews from me by now and it's not even flu season yet! The last time we came here, I had the cauliflower feta which was vegan and gluten free. I do not claim to be either but appreciate both categories of food!
