Great skin and crunch and very juicy chicken. But it was the sides that were even better. Had Mac and Cheese and Slaw. Slaw was perfect and the portion big enough that I took the mac home as I couldn't even start it while dining there. Gobbled the mac as a midnight snack later and, even having to nuke it warm again, the mac and cheese was flavorful with cheesy goodness. The food is good, but if you are getting a carryout order check every single thing while still there - learn from my mistakes. I forgot why I don't come here as often: because I'm so tired of getting home and realizing we are missing something from our order. Today was no exception. We've eaten here before (probably back in 2023) and were hoping to have another good experience. Unfortunately, this time around was a total letdown. The service was fairly quick since the chicken is already pre-cooked and waiting -- the only thing made fresh is the waffle. The waffle itself was good soft, fluffy, and flavorful though I personally like mine a bit more crispy. They provide the usual condiments (hot sauce, honey mustard, ketchup, syrup), but I brought my own 100% pure maple syrup. The chicken was solid fried hard, nicely seasoned, not too much breading, and with a good crunch. It tastes like your typical "chicken box" style fried chicken, which isn't a bad thing. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it, but it definitely hits the spot when you're craving that combo. Still, $14 for three pieces of chicken and a waffle (no drink included) feels steep. The restaurant does have other soul food-style sides like yams, mac and cheese, and greens. It's not clear if the place is Black-owned ,the staff working there weren't ,but it gives that carryout, chicken box type of vibe. There's plenty of seating inside, and while they ask if you're dining in or taking out, everything is served in a bag ,so you just grab it and sit down if you want. Candied yams-4.5/5 pretty sweet, but really good. May be a little too sweet for some people. Cornbread-4/5 good! Moist, small size, only 89 cents a piece. The place is very casual. It looks like a converted McDonald's or something. They have regular tables and high tables that they keep fairly clean. I went here as a last resort since I had been unsuccessful in securing a meal at a nearby KFC (another chicken place I had mostly avoided in recent years). Me and my friends had never been here but it always looks crowded so we wanted to see what the hype was about. The line was not long at All. I got the 3 piece fried chicken with Mac and cheese and candied yams plus sweet tea. I requested 3 drum sticks. We got our food to go even though there was plenty of seating space. The sides come in little aluminum pans and all the food was so hot when we took it back. My drunk taste buds thought I was in heaven. The sweet tea was too sweet so I added a bunch of ice but still yummy. The fried chicken is salty but I like it that way, my bestfriend was a little iffy on it. It was so crispy and hot I loved it. The yams were so sweet and the Mac and cheese has a great flavor. I don't think any fast food place has better Mac and cheese. The little corn bread was not good to me. There is so much food you will have enough for left overs. It reheats well the next day. I wish I would have just shared the sides because the flavor is so rich. Next to donuts, chicken and waffles is an absolute staple for me. So when I saw uncle C's chicken and waffles I knew I couldn't pass up giving this place a try while I was in town. I am so insanely glad I did too, because they did not disappoint. Parking was good, they have their own lot - so plenty of space. Even with there being multiple restaurants in this strip, I don't think you'll have issues finding a spot. I decided to order to-go since I was staying across the street at the hotel and went with their three piece chicken plus waffle. For the three pieces of chicken, you get to choose which three pieces you want between a wing, a leg a thigh and a chicken tender. I went with one leg one thigh and one wing. I also heard through the reviews that their cornbread is amazing, so I added that on the side to give a try too. Bonus it's only $.89 to add on. The staff was very friendly, taking my order and the interior look like a pretty standard fast food type of restaurant. It was very clean and nice on the inside. I will say that. The wait time for the food was pretty standard considering I was expecting them to make my waffle fresh And based off of the time I waited I expected that that's exactly what happened. Once my food was ready, they packed it up for me, and also threw in one each of their two sauces plus some hot sauce to go grabbed my bag, hopped in the car and headed back to my room Once back to the room with my food, I checked everything and it held up very nicely. I did only need to go maybe 2-3 minutes away, but still I forgot to ask for the butter on the side of the waffle so I expected that to be completely melted by the time I got back and was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't. Everything held nice in their to-go containers, while still keeping the waffle crispy and good. Now for the taste - The chicken was absolutely phenomenal perfectly fried and amazing taste. The two sides that they give you one of them tastes similar to a Chick-fil-A sauce that almost all chicken places seem to have now and the second was a barbecue sauce. Both were absolutely great! The hot sauce that they give you is like a Texas Pete hot sauce pretty standard for fried chicken and was good usually my go to as well. The waffle was yummy very good flavor and even with the powdered sugar on top of it didn't taste too sweet. The butter was good pretty basic and standard butter. Nothing to go review along on its own other than it's just a standard good butter. Overall, I would honestly give this place five star rating for great chicken and a great waffle.
