Went here for the USA FIFA game. Guy was splitting chairs at the bar, so instead of the bartender asking the guy to move over, we sat at a table that was empty. Girl informs us someone is sitting there so we move to another table. The 4 screen tv was messed up so bottom left corner of the panels was pixelated. No volume to the game. For St. Patrick's Day fare, go elsewhere. With Great expectations, my wife and I came to JJ Twiggs in Wauconda for traditional Irish corned beef and cabbage, which a phone call verified they had yesterday, Sunday the 15th. Instead of legitimate thick slices of corned beef brisket, a plate of chewy dry, thin curly shredded meat came, along with one wedge of cabbage containing the hard bottom stem that others cut off and discard. Ther were potatoes, NO carrots. The meat was the texture of the old packaged chipped beef you put on toast to gag on in the last century. The final insult is the pricing ploy to charge us extra for their routine banking fee for using my credit card. Or else go find an ATM, pay that fee, and be pushing $28 a plate or more so owner and server get cash. read more

Stopped in here for dinner tonight. It was not busy and service was good. We ordered some pizzas and Ruben egg rolls. The food was good overall. I really enjoyed the pepperoni pizza! Very thin crispy crust. It did take a little bit to cook but as expected with fresh pizza! A few little games for the kids (claw machines), and tvs with sports. The chicken bacon ranch pizza was a bit dry but with some extra ranch on the side it was just fine. Cool spot, it would be fun in the summer with the volley ball courts. read more

With Covid I can confess it's been a year or so since my last lunch visit. This is convenient but as far as pizza goes it's a 4-5 in quality and taste. I hope they do better for individual orders. When I stopped the Buffet was full and just getting started. Going back for the next plate and it was bare. The hostess said about 5-10 more minutes as they got a table of ten that came in and cleaned it out. We have had good and bad experiences here. The food used to be amazing. Then the sandwiches were horrible. We boycotted for a few years and decided to order a pizza. It was very good. We ordered a few more times, it was ok. Tonight was the last straw, we will never order from here again. We ordered online before 5pm for a pizza to be delivered. I called the store at 6:30 to see if everything was ok and they said, yes, it has gone out, you should get it shortly. I called again a half an hour later and the same guy told me oh, you had it setup for you to pick it up here. I said no, online it had me customize a tip plus charged me a delivery fee. Signaled for service, asked for ice and a shot. Mercifully a nice man brought the food. We had to flag her for drinks....poorly made again. Bad attitude. Asked for check. She come back with attitude to collect it, she just stood there. I asked what did she need? No the check is not ready Bratty. Sloppy, get off your phone. We tip big, always. This is specifically RE: the AYCE pizza buffet: We finally had a weekend off together and we're excited to try JJ's All You Can Eat Pizza Buffet! Unfortunately, it was far from what we'd envisioned. Just four pizzas sitting under a headlamp. We got there at prime time, 12:30, and all for burger pizzas looked and tasted like they'd been there for hours. Congealed cheese and hardened meat toppings. I hope I don't get sick. I tried three different slices but finished none. Just ate enough to kill the hunger. Service was lacking as well. We were greeted and told to seat ourselves. We did, and then waited a bit before just going to the bar to order our drinks and serving ourselves pizza from the "buffet," figuring this was how it worked. Halfway through our lunch a waitress walked by to note what we had. She was sweet and quick with the check afterwards, but we're glad we didn't wait for her to eat because that would have be quite a while. There really is something available for everyone and every tastebud. They have gluten free pizza as well! This is the second time in a row that my order didn't arrive. The first time after 30 minutes past the delivery time I called. They stated the delivery person had delivered my order to the wrong address. How does that happen? Did they just drop it and leave. It took a whole additional hour before we got the order and I had my 3 grandkids (all under the age 4) over for dinner. JJ Twiggs offered me a credit for the next time I ordered. It's now the next time and the last. The order was supposed to be delivered at 5:15. Again I had my grandkids over and no pizza. I tried calling to find out where my order was. After 45 minutes I was able to get through. The manager said my order didn't process as the ticket was just staying open. She said she would get the order out quickly but that would be an hour or possibly longer before I received it. Pitiful!!! My grandkids go to be around 7 and the order wouldn't have been here until then or later. I told the manager to forget it. My grandkids were very upset as to why they weren't getting pizza. How do you explain to little ones that they can't get what they were looking forward to. Had to rush to fix them something to eat so they wouldn't be hungry before bed. Very disappointed in JJ Twiggs! Won't recommend them nor give them a third chance to screwup another order. read more

Right off the bat........Forget the pizza sitting out on the tables during lunch time. Dried out and not very tasty. That being said, if you order a burger with fries you'll get a pretty decent meal that is ok and reasonably priced. I really feel bad beating up on this place. It was our first time here and maybe hit it a the wrong time. Nevertheless, regardless of the time of day, food has to be excellent whatever you choose. No excuses. However, the lady who served us, possibly an owner or manager, was nice and accommodating. She made no excuses for our mediocre experience. When I went it I had my mind set on a personal pizza, so that i could customize it to my taste, but after considering the price of a personal size 10" (at the time writing this review) $13.75, w/$1.75 per topping....not badly priced, but can add up to $20 in a blink of an eye with toppings = $2 bucks an inch! I avoid food bars at restaurants for millions of reasons, and theirs pizza bar just reinforces my belief. My friend, also sticker shocked by personal pizza price opted for the pizza bar and so did I for the price of $10 all you can eat. The pizza bar started with a good variety of pizzas, sadly in various degrees of warmness, what was hot and good went quickly, but slowly replaced by the kitchen, mean while your other choice options are getting colder and more unappetizing by the minute. It was such a fun time and complete pleasure last weekend 7/6/2019 for my Grand daughters *4th birthday! Kathy (sp?) was on top of everything! Delivering food, working the outside bar near the sand pit- keeping up with every detail to make our visit outstanding!!!! This place is literally 2- 3 minutes from my house. I eat pizza about once a week and go to Hitz in Mundelein, Kaisers in Gurnee, or I drive down into the city to get it on weekends, which I don't mind.. They are so skimpy on the ingredients, I would rather take a drive and get a good one that I'll enjoy, than sit and be disappointed. They are also priced higher than where I usually go. This is a neighborhood pub. It's not upscale. It's loud, and the tables are big and clunky. And if you are looking for a night out the guys or gals, or a sports team, this is the place to be. Met a friend for a business dinner here. Not really best place for that, but we got it done and had fun. It took a while for the waitress to come over but once she did, service was great. The wings are very good. My friend had the Ruben Spring Rolls. They were good too. All in all, a great sports pub. read more

We had a LZ Flames Super Bowl game yesterday in Libertyville and waited too late to book a team lunch in the area. Called local spots and unfortunately, they are couldn't accommodate us last minute. My husband suggested JJ Twig's in Wauconda. I called them on Friday morning and received a call back within 20 minutes informing us that they could accommodate 40-50 of us at 11:30! Staying at a buddies out in Wauconda for the weekend and was looking for something to deliver late Friday evening.. came across JJ Twig's and WOW. I don't even know where to begin. The lady on the phone was super nice and patient (my friends kept changing their minds about what and how much of each to order), she repeated the order to me several times to make sure everything was correct. Our Order: BBQ Chicken Pizza - 10/10, we even ordered it well-done and thats exactly how it came - crispy and delicious! Canadian Bacon/Green Pepper/Garlic Pizza - 8/10, ordered well-done as well. Absolutely delicious, the only thing is I wish there were less green peppers and more garlic. Buffalo Wings - 9/10, very tasty, only wish they were a little hotter BBQ Wings - 10/10, sweet, delicious and meaty. Loaded crinkle fries - 5/10, honestly I just didn't like them, had to be eaten with a fork and they were just a little too much. Turkey Avocado Wrap - 10/10, so fresh, amazing ingredients, and it was even great the next day! Overall an amazing experience. Quick delivery, great prices, delicious food. Will DEFINITELY come back! A bit annoyed with JJ twigs. Ordered delivery tonight and had to call back to add something to the order, they gave me the new total and said it would be there within the hour. Great. We receive the delivery, I sign the check and everything seems fine. 3 hours later at 8 pm they call back to tell me that they gave me the wrong receipt and I wasn't charged for my add on. It was $4.50... So if I had eaten in the restaurant and you messed up on my bill, you would call me at home to charge me for the item you missed? Highly doubtful, so why call a customer for a measly $4.50 when you made a mistake. I should have said something during the call but I was #1 pissed that someone called that late after I put the baby to sleep, #2 wondering why JJ twigs was calling me. 6/28/2019 -- Update. Still awesome. Went to Bill's in Mundelein 2 days before. JJ Twig's captures the original Bill's pizza that I grew up with. Thank you, JJ's for keeping true to great pizza. Now if you'd only deliver to DC area...HA! I had to drive 700+ miles to have some! Oh, and yes, the guy with the dreadlocks gave us awesome service. 5 stars for bothe pizza and service! 6/29/2010 -- This review is on the pizza only... I've never had anything else here. I'm an old fan of Bill's pizza in Mundelein, but they have gone way downhill and tastes very bland. However, JJ Twigs still has the really great thin crust, sauce that tastes like fresh tomatoes, great tasting Mozzarella, and perfectly seasoned sausage! Thanks, JJ's for keeping the tradition!
