Weather forecast was threatening the days leading up to our visit so I contacted Captain Mark and he called me right back and came up with a plan. But, not to worry, the storms shifted and we were able to take our tour. The boat is in great condition and the pricing is great! It was just my husband and two children and myself on a 30 ft pontoon. We could have stayed all day we enjoyed it so much. Captain Bill knew right where to take us for the best viewing and photos. We saw what we could via trails and via car routes…read more 2 hour boat ride that rides along all of the rocks along the shore. The $46 ride is all of the rocks. Next ride is at 2PM. The $54 ride is all of the rocks + the spray falls. Next ride is at 3PM. Waiting to sit in chairs to start the boarding process at 2:45 PM. There are two rows of seats are already full outside on the dock. We are seated by 2:34pm, in the second group or 4th row. We took the 4th row of seats, even though there are open seats in the 3rd row, but it's facing right into the sun. Need to stay cooler and thus our back to the sun. A staffer checks in guest last names and count, while we are seated. Boarding the cruise boat by 2:47pm. Pushing off from the docks by 3pm. Right on time and we aren't even in Korea or Japan. Fancy that! We are off by 3:03pm. Knots and wind is picking up. Hair is up. The boat is called Spray Falls. Boat was built in 2022. The captain is funny, gregarious, captain Noah. 63 Feet boat. Holds 150 people. Boat can get up to 25 MPH. Run by 2 caterpillar diesel fuel engines. Captain Noah. Cheyenne and Ashley are part of the crew. The rocks will be on the right on our way out and on the left on the way back. Castle Rock by 3:25pm. Chapel Cove by 3:56pm, we were able to ride inside the cove. Passing by Spray Falls by 4:03pm. Not sure it was worth the extra $8 for the rather small falls. The rock formations are worth the visit for sure. Turning around now by 4:06pm. Good thing. I am pretty done with seeing the rocks by now. We are back at the docks by 5:06pm. Disembarking by 5:08pm.

Need updating their instructions. Dirty dishes, garbage in our fire pit (fire pit and grill were not on property as stated. ) towels looked used, unclean. Tractors starting at 8am and junky boats cluttering property. Host was agressive and rude. She seems to be agressive with any criticism. Just accused us of false things, basically trashing the place which I've never done in my life. She accused someone of urinating in the bed! Most insulting interaction I've had. She is going to drive that business in the ground that already lacked professionalism. Mom and dad must be proud. Do not recommend. Never have I had this experience at an air bnb.

The Hiawatha is a cozy two bedroom with the perfect access to the water and communal areas. The cabins are very clean, and well appointed, with microwaves, full-sized refrigerators, and a stove with oven. The Hiawatha is perfect for a landing spot from those long days of sightseeing. We decided to extend our stay by a day, and the gracious host, Sarah, was more than accommodating, offering to move us to another cabin for the final night, as ours was already booked. The Huron is a spacious three bedroom, with two queens and two twins, and a shower/bath combo. Newer construction, and everything the Hiawatha has, but more space for those larger groups. However, you don't come to Kimar to stay in your cabin, and the lakeshore views do not disappoint. Morning sunrises, and the activity of an active charter fishing operation provide the vibe that will calm the most anxious of souls. Sarah and Chris, the hosts, are third generation Kimar, and the added experiences they provides are what makes Kimar so special. They are very welcoming, and take the time to make sure everyone from young to old have a unique and memorable experience to take home with them. Do your research before you book, because the beaches here are for rock hounds, not sunbathers. The weather was cool, and my traveling companions had not thought about 55 degree nights when they packed clothing. My best experiences were found on the dock, in front of the campfire meeting new friends, and searching for beach treasures and Yooperlites. Just go. Seriously. And while you're there, Keweenaw Boat Tours is an excellent way to spend a couple hours. The scenery along the Shipping Channel is really interesting, and the captain (Jason) is very engaging and fascinating. He told us a lot of lore of the area as well as bits of his (very fascinating) personal history. The only caveat is: dress warmly. As you approach Lake Superior, wind off the lake can get downright cold. We were warned to dress warmly, which I *really* appreciated. And I also had the presence of mind to bring along a blanket, which really helped.

It was gorgeous on Lake Lac La Belle and Lake Fanny Hoe. Captain Jim definitely has a passion for fishing. He was also fun to hang out with. And Heuver is adorable. Captain Jim was particularly good with Ryan. Ryan loved the fact that he let him drive the speedboat. It was also nice that Captain Jim cleaned the fish for us, as we have no idea how to do that.
