The family of my childhood went to the latter. Before Wisser's expanded, he had gas pumps, so we bought our gas and got our car repairs there. Now, with more than double the bays, Wisser's is where my mother still gets her cars serviced. Rick and Jill own and run the repair shop. Rick's father, Dick, was the face of the business when I was a young driver, and I was conflicted about him. An excellent auto mechanic, he presented as a no nonsense man of few words, so I was scared to death of him. Rick is his equal as a mechanic and much less taciturn. His wife, Jill, handles the books. (As a side note, as of today's date, there are 4 earlier reviews that Yelp's algorithm has seen to exclude - see below - and they are worth reading.)

Jill and Rick are so friendly and you feel at ease with them instantly. Rick fixed my Mazda's power steering pump and spark plugs. He went on a test drive with me after the work was completed and adjusted a few things and topped off the oil for free. I was about to walk out of the store with my purse still laying on the ground and one of his employees stopped me and asked "hey miss is that your purse?" Wow! Just wow!!! These guys are so awesome, thanks a million! Take your car to them!!!

I was nine years old back then and he was eight years old I think (that was way back in 1978). We were neighbors for over 15 years. I don't let anyone else work on my car except Lowder's because I know and trust the owner, Bob, and I know that he will ALWAYS do right by me. He hasn't ever tried to pull a fast one on me (or any of my family or friends) like other mechanics do; he does what's actually needed or what I've asked to be done (IF it's legal of course but NOT if it's something illegal like putting a muffler on a vehicle that doesn't have a catalytic converter on it (or other stuff like that), because that's quite illegal!). He does the right thing, he always has that I know of and I've never heard anyone taking bad about him, EVER --- not even in high school. He's just and simply a great and honest man; and you can trust him. Oh! He WON'T give you some triple the price estimate and try to rip you off either, he's not like that at all. I refer people to go to him at Lowder's Automotive every single time someone is talking about having vehicle problems or the need of a good honest mechanic. He runs the office and front counter now and doesn't get under the cars anymore because he has some great people working for him there. He WON'T put up with a dishonest mechanic working in his shop either. I fully know that he would give them the boot too if they ever tried something like that! They work on lots of types of vehicles there and they're certified & licensed. And you can see the legal certifications and licenses posted there if you'd like to. He is an awesome person to know too. Talk with him awhile if you're wanting to know more about him and his business, I'm sure that he will fill you in on anything that you will need to know. He's been working on cars since we were kids. Oh, and BTW, he is still about Mopar too. Js. I'm a Chevy man myself but I don't hold the fact that he's into Mopar against him. LoL! So if you're into Dodge vehicles, especially big trucks, just bring that up and you're sure to have a nice conversation with him. Tell him that you read this on Yelp and that his old friend and neighbor Todd sent you. I hope that this helps your in your decision making. You simply can't go wrong with Lowder's at your service. I have always felt like they have gone the extra mile to ensure that things are cared for efficiently and effectively. I know that they have have fit me in when they were already tightly scheduled, and I have never had a repair wherein something was left undone. Their pricing is competitive for both parts and labor, and it feels good knowing that my money is going to people who share this community with me. On the few occasions where they have been unable to book me promptly -- which have been rare, but stand as a testament to the quality of their work and the enthusiasm of their clientele -- they have made a point of letting me know exactly who they would trust with the work if I need it done in a hurry. Even so, except in one case where it was an emergency, I told them I was willing to wait the additional week or more to get my car in with them because of the bond of trust they had built. I was really surprised to realize that I had never left them a Yelp review, and thought I should rectify that today. Legitimately the best shop I have ever worked with, and only the shop run in the small town I grew up in has ever come close to this level of personalized quality and service. We are looking to move to a location closer to my work, and one of the things my wife asked me about moving was, "... we can still take our cars to Parchment Service Center if they need work, right?" Of course we can! Unless I move out of state, they've won my loyalty for life.
