First and last visit here for my Bronco oil change. Went here for my 1st oil change on my new Bronco. Have gone to Mighty on John R. for many years and have been happy. Decided to try this place out due to Mighty doesn't have Mobile 1 or Motorcraft which is recommended for the Bronco. 1st thing I noticed was they didn't scan my door which tells them manufacturer recommended oil and quantity. They looked it up on their computer instead. Tech says, "it takes 5W20", I have to say, check again my manual right here onscreen says "5W30 synthetic blend is recommended." Tech: oh yeah, you're right. Then I ask, "what brand of oil do you use?" since no signs anywhere. We use "Mobile...not Mobile 1". So the cheaper stuff. Price quoted, $75 for 5W30 synthetic blend oil change package. Get done, that will be $95. How we go from $75 to $95? Extra QT of oil, filter and shop fee. Wow! Mighty always gave me full quote up front since they knew quantity and filter change was needed before even starting. Never any additional surprise charges at the end without letting me know or seeking my approval. Then they never offered to reset my oil change monitor and just handed me the window sticker instead of placing it in windshield for me. All things I had gotten used to from service at Mighty. The cheaper mobil oil only had a 3K mile change interval. Not at all what you would expect from a synthetic blend oil change costing $95. Then to top it all off, I knew going in my front/left tire was 7lbs lower than the rest of my tires. You think they would have noticed and filled it for me after checking? Nope, was still 7lbs lower. Another reason I went here was because they also have a car wash. You would think they would offer some type of discount coupon or even free basic wash with oil change to promote the carwash like they do at Mighty, but no there as well. Maybe I've just grown spoiled from going to Mighty? Alls I know for sure was this was the most expensive 6 QT oil change I ever had with the least amount of service provided. I was recently at the Chesterfield location and was met by the Manager who introduced himself as Stan. His cheerful and professional demeanor gave me high hopes that I would receive excellent service. After we agreed on the services that's when it all started to fall apart. There was a little girl there who couldn't been more than 17, and she had the mouth of a sailor. Not only did she have a deleterious affect on the experience, At my next stop, i noticed a dripping from beneath my car. I immediately took it back and the Manager quickly apologized and went down into the bay and found the drain plug didn't have a crush washer. He called the young girl down to show her and she quickly started having a fit, much like a toddler that doesn't get its way. This young girl is unfit to be working with the public, and is surely a Karen in the making. It would behoove the chain to dismiss this young girl, and replace her with a more professional employee, such as the manager. read more

I will NEVER go to this place again!!! Not only was I charged twice as much for a basic oil change that I could get elsewhere, the service I've had at cheaper places was much better too. I arrived at 1:30pm to get it changed during my lunch break, thinking I had plenty of time for a 10 minute oil change. I didn't get out of there until 2:07!!! They kept trying to small talk with me, even though I said I had to get back to work. They tried to sell me extra things I didn't need or want, when I made it clear I just wanted a basic oil change. They would stop one thing and wait a few minutes to joke and chit-chat amongst themselves before they started on the next thing. And then even as I was getting ready to leave they kept trying to small talk! I got back to work 20 minutes late because of them!!! Something that should have only been 10 minutes, 15 tops, took over a half hour to do! I will never go to this, or other, Uncle Ed's locations ever again!!! I drive over an hour north just to get my oil changed here. The shop manager and all of the techs are (almost painfully) friendly, super fast, and explain everything they're doing from start to finish. As a woman, I often get taken advantage of when it comes to anything automotive. Here, I can trust that they only give me exactly what I need, and never try to "up-sell" me on anything. If I don't need a new air filter just yet, they tell me. If my wipers are wearing, but could probably hold off a bit, they'll tell me the truth. It's refreshing to know that they'll give me what I need, when I need it, and at fair prices. I will not go anywhere else! read more

I hit a low curb that ripped off the front of my undercarriage of my Ford Escape, to the point it was dragging under my car. By some miracle, it was on 12 mile right next to Uncle Ed's Oil Shoppe, and I drove in to see if they could reattach it. The guys were extremely nice and re-attached it in 10 minutes. When it was over I tried to pay and they refused and let me go. I will definitely be going back there when I need an oil-change as they clearly don't up-charge or nickle/dime and I couldn't have been more thankful for their help. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I normally get my oil changed at my dealership and pay around $40. Unfortunately they are closed right now so I was forced to go to Uncle Ed's. I was only shown 3 choices for oil, with the lowest one costing $69.99! On their website it states that they have one for $59.99. I was not shown that option. I was then asked to add multiple things on. I denied each. I attempted to use a coupon and was told it had already been applied (plus an additional one), when I got the bill it totaled $86!! I don't know how I go from $69.99 to $86 (when supposedly two coupons had been applied). This place is a complete rip off and I will not be back. read more

I called around to get the best rate possible and because my Envoy takes 7 quarts instead of 5 I knew it would cost a little bit more, when I spoke with Tyler on the phone he suggested I go online and print off a 20$ coupon when I arrived after work at almost 6pm they were more than happy to help me, I got the basic package plus a few extra for 7 instead of 5qts it cost me $45 ish but I also got unbiased advice on what I need and don't really need done under my hood. Don't think I could ask for better service. My car was leaking coolant and they not only filled it up so I could drive it to a mechanic, they took extra time and diagnosed the source of the problem for me. I walked into the mechanic's office armed with pictures, the name of the part and wholesale prices of what the part should cost and how much labor it should take because of the research these guys did. I can't recommend this establishment. They used an oil filter that was too short for my Acura RDX and also overtightened it. Another shop showed me their mistake and I couldn't believe the difference between the filter that was used and should have been used. I'll post a picture for visual proof. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL - DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME The staff at the Madison Heights location is very good at high pressure sales - especially for services that you do not necessarily need. The technician (whom I found out later was not a mechanic) damaged my vehicle and lied about it. The mechanic that Uncle Ed's sent out to assess the damage informed me that my car was just "old" and I should not expect much in the way of repairs. My car is now in a bump shop to repair the "repair" work that the Uncle Ed's crew did to my car. Uncle Ed's does a decent job, I have a truck with over 215K and I go to Ed's for most of my fluid changes, the staff is professional, and does a good job. The last time I was in there (recently) for an oil change, the window decided to stay down. Thanks to a combination of timing and awesome people, they spent the next little while helping us get the window back up, diagnosing the problem, pricing out a replacement part for us, as well as getting us the best deal by pricing it with a couple of different places.
