We took our van to Veterans for an electrical repair, which wasn't easy to diagnose since the issue couldn't be reproduced consistently. The guys there are great to work with and I felt comfortable with my wife discussing the problem in my absence. I took my truck to Veterans Auto Repair for its 100,000 mile tune up. They damaged my wire harness and didn't even change all my plugs which they were paid to do causing engine misfires. It cost me $600 at another mechanic to fix what they broke. The plugs they missed were harder to access and then they put the wrong plugs in my GM vehicle on the ones they did change. This is the stereotypical shady mechanic cutting corners and then charging the customer for work they didn't do. Buyer beware they will take advantage of you if they will take advantage of a fellow vet. read more

I had given this company thousands of dollars when I realized I didn't wanna pay anymore and got a new car they cut my catalytic converter off my car as I was scrapping it. The sane ppl that I have $2600 to for body work to replace the hood I go to pop the good it the cable snapped. Another $400. The worst mechanics in Madison heights. Period read more

Veterans Auto repair center went above and beyond to help get my car fixed so I could get back to the Yoop. They stayed past close to get my coil and spark plugs changed. They always treat me like family and always gave me a fair price. It's hard to find a good mechanic to trust, and I am very happy that I found them. Do not waste your time and money here ... if you have the time to read this through, please do. I hope it helps someone. I only went twice, but have a plethora of bad experiences. Here is a list: 1. The owner was asleep at the desk when I walked in. I had to wake him up. He then fell asleep again while in the middle of taking my car keys, and I had to wake him up again. 2. He promised I'd have my oil change, brakes, and sway bar link change completed by closing time. However, I was stuck there well after close because 1) the work took so long 2) the guy just left for 40 minutes, so when I could see my car was finished I had to go into the back and ask the mechanics to go find him so I could pay and leave. 3. I got no record of any kind of my odometer readout at the time of the oil change. When I requested quotes for the service, I was pretty much laughed at. 4. I ended up getting quoted $300 for the work. When I finally came to pay, he told me it was $325 AND they hadn't even bought the part yet for the sway bar link. At this point, I had been there for a few hours and now I had to come back later and pay more. I expressed my disappointment, and was offered the sway bar link part and labor for free. 5. When I came back for the sway bar link, he honored his promise to do it for free because "I caught him on a good day." They put on the WRONG SIZE link that just keeps spinning and spinning. It makes a clunking noise every time I drive. I've had friends try to tighten it twice, and both times it could not be done. I am going to have to buy a new part myself, cut off the old one and replace it, and no way am I going back to have them do it. 6. I didn't even get a record of the service when they changed my sway bar link, so there is no way for me to be covered under warranty for them to fix it. Unless of course I catch the guy on a "good day" again. What kind of customer service is that? Overall, extremely unprofessional service, actually managed to make my car issue worse, and I have no record of the work they did. Please do not waste your time and money here. read more

Went down there to make an appointment to take my car to be repaired I was told to bring it back at Thursday 9 o'clock in the morning when they open and it will take 3 to 4 hours to fix my car well Friday came they never had touched my car and mechanic on Friday didn't get there until 1 o'clock in the afternoon that's not how you run a business, at this point at 2 pm on Friday I ask them to bring me my keys because obviously they weren't going to do anything with my car, I asked them to bring my car out front they said the would, well 20 mins later They were sitting in the mechanics car and how I know that's because they told us that was one of the mechanics cars They act like they didn't want to do the job they just weren't even honest with us I will never return read more

These guys were great and got me in and out in no time. My tire pressure warning light was on and they checked the pressure in all 4, explained why the psi on the tire is different than the recommendation within the door and that I had too much air. They bled out the air in each tire, and sent me on my way free of charge. Plus, they're vets!! read more

High five to Veteran's Auto Repair on John R in Madison Heights!! Thanks to the several recommendations on here about the excellent service at Veteran's, I went there today. I've been putting off getting estimates on the several issues I have with my car out of fear of pricing and affordability. Well I finally went to Veteran's Auto today. I got 2 other estimates at other shops, one at Belle Tire and that was outrageous. Chris had his mechanic, Saif, inspect the issues and came up with an excellent pricing structure. While Saif was looking at the car, Chris and I talked and I discovered what a heart of gold this guy has. If you go there, which I highly recommend, ask him about Saif's story and background as a mechanic for the US during the Iraq war. It's really amazing. The shop is nothing fancy, but the service and pricing is above and beyond. They even fixed my dangling mirror with a temporary solution until I can come back for that next week.
