I remember way back in the day when this place used to be Hot Dog Palace. Now this location has turned into Uncle Jays Burger. I was curious so stopped by to get a cheeseburger with chili fries. Everything was fresh to order. The burger has the right balance of meat to bun to condiment ratio and tasted very good. For any chili fries connoisseur out there, this is a must get. The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Even without the chili the fries are excellent. The chili put it over the top with hearty flavors and some meat mixed into it. The cheese wasn't too heavy, which I like because it didn't over take the stars of the show. Will definitely recommend and try their other burgers/dogs as well! read more

The staff there didn't greet us or say anything when we walked in, but whatever, we ordered at the kiosk machine. I got the uncle burger for 11.99, was sticker shocked when I added garlic fries and a soda and suddenly it was 23 bucks. Over 5 dollars for garlic fries and 3.99 for a 20oz fountain drink is ridiculous. It would be nice if they offered a combo meal discount. I tried their western burger a couple of days ago and it was quite awful. I have made better at home. The meat was small and clearly a frozen patty (looked like the ones you buy at Costco). Had bacon on it and that was pale in color, rubbery, and appeared to be hardly cooked at all. Extremely oversized bun with far too many sauce and toppings, I'm assuming to make it look bigger? However the last 1/3 of it was just a soggy mess with bun, lettuce, tomato and onion. Paid $18 for this and some fries. Fries were good (only reason I gave any stars at all) . Left wishing I had gone to In n Out instead. Would have saved money and had a far better cheeseburger. read more

Pros: burger has good flavor and fries are crispy crusty and excellent. Cons: burger meat, though tasty, was not large enough. Toppings were standard and underwhelming. I wanted to like it more but honestly,I make such a great burger at home that this is one of those things that ends up being a pure convenience fee and an: 'I'm too lazy to make this myself right now,' fee. This is honestly a different side of burgers that I've came across, only because some of the burgers don't have patties, they have literally beef or even a pork cutlet depending on what you are craving. Their menu is small, but it packs a lot and you honestly have to think about whether or not you want that burger or just get 1 of each - LOL! I had the Seoul burger and I was super surprised that I had nothing but bulgogi beef and no patty. It honestly did not need a burger patty because the beef bulgogi along with the fried egg and all the condiments that comes with the burger was the BEST fusion burger I've personally had. Thank you for not putting a patty in there, I feel like the burger patty would have taken over the burger. I honestly ate my burger under seconds - LOL, not literally but by the time I looked down it was sadly GONE. I also got their fries and onion rings and it was cooked to perfect crisp, along with some ranch for my onion rings. Uncle Jay Burger House is one of the newer establishments in the Todo Santos Plaza, at the corner of Salvio and Grant to be exact. They took over the space left vacated by the old Hot Dog Palace in late 2021. My friend Sarah and I came here for dinner on 08/16/2022. We walked in at around 7:30 pm and there were zero customers. The interior was nicely renovated and was bright and clean. Some old touches of their predecessor could still be seen. The owner, a very sweet Korean lady, quickly greeted us. I found out she used to operate a cafeteria at a business park in San Ramon and the pandemic forced her to pursue this new business venture. Their menu featured mainly burgers and hot dogs. After a quick peruse, I ordered a Seoul Burger ($10.99), fries ($2.99), and a fountain drink ($2.99). Sarah opted for the Western Burger ($10.99) instead. The Seoul Burger used bulgogi instead of a traditional burger patty. Overall, it was decent. The burger bun was soft, bulgogi was tasty, and the lettuce was fresh. There were two things I didn't like: 1) over application of sauces, and 2) over well egg instead of over easy. If they can improve on those two things, they will have a better product. The fries were cooked to order. They were crispy and delicious. Overall, this spot is a nice addition to downtown Concord. They are worth a try if you are in the area. 4 stars. Once again relying upon Yelp when on the road. Will start by saying we are not familiar with concord. The area has one way streets, limited street parking and a large homeless population. There is a nearby parking garage which is where we parked. The place is as basic as they come. Inside a kid was sitting on the floor under the menu with his laptop plugged in doing homework, mom with young kids who were tired of being there - climbing over tables and whining to go home. Outside homeless were sleeping and eating food from trash next to the building and one homeless guy passed out at their patio table amongst a pile of fries. The inside was clean but felt "dirty". We ordered Hawaiian burger and the uncle burger with fries and onion rings. We tried to ask the gentleman about the sauce - he spoke little English and wasn't able to tell us anything about it or understand "can I taste the sauce"? This steered our ordering choices to safe ones. We found a place outside to eat. A couple of seats away from sleeping guy. Fries and onion rings are frozen but good products. Burgers a huge, patty is cooked perfect and seasoned. My burger had a sliced battered apple in it. It was interesting. The combination of flavors between the sauce and everything was different and tasty. I really liked the uncle burger, hubby enjoyed the Hawaiian but would try something else. The burger patties are all cooked well done. I wish there was some customization to the doneness as the well done patty was really dry. The guac on it was good and had a nice kick. The sauce was only drizzled on one side. They do toast the bun so it holds the burger together. The chili cheese fries were okay. The chili could have used some flavor. They have regular burgers and hot dogs and an asian fusion options. A lot of seating, bright inside, friendly staff and quick service. The food also comes out fresh and piping hot. Katsu burger- so good. Crispy, perfectly seasoned katsu cutlet that was HUGE. The cutlet was way bigger than the bun. Tasty slaw, lettuce and the katsu sauce was similar to a Japanese gravy. 5/5 Garlic fries - yes, crispy fries, fresh garlic and parsley, my breath was hottttt and reeked of garlic. Would not want it any other way. 5/5 Chili cheese fries - almost like canned chili but had some Asian-ish spices. But the fries were super crispy 3/5 Cheeseburger - simple, tasty and hearty. Uncle Jay Burger House took over one of the older spots in Los Todos some months back, which used to also be a burger place, though they were more known for their hot dogs. You'll most likely see it when you're here for the Farmer's Market, or perhaps in the area just walking around in the downtown. Either way, they're at one of the corners in the main Los Todos area, so it's hard to miss them. The decor on the outside however, does make it somewhat easier to miss, as it's kind of an older diner kind of feel that doesn't seem like any renovation has been done since the change in ownership. When you get inside, there has definitely been some remodeling down, particular from the counter side of things, and the walls and such. Looks can be deceiving from the outside. The old place was definitely more set up to have a mom'n'pop feel to it, while this one is a bit more modernized to be more like a chain storefront. They do indeed take card here as they have the tablet POS system, so no worries. The menu isn't large. Just very straight forward items in a few categories of burgers, hot dogs, and appetizers etc. The pricing of the food here is something to be desired though. Compared to some of the other places in the area which also offers burgers and such, it will be on the cheaper side. It's also not the only Korean styled restaurant in the area, as there's a Korean chicken place not far down towards the theater. Needless to say, there's plenty of competition, so the pricing is decent here for sure. The staff here are friendly. The lady at the counter seemed like she could be one of the owners perhaps, or at least, a manager. She did more than just take the order at the counter, but also managed the people on the line, but as well came out to the floor and greeted us and asked us how our food was. She also seemed to remember regulars that walks in and order. Very welcoming atmosphere. We didn't get a whole lot today, but just tried a few different things since it's our first visit. The three food items we got today were the garlic fries, the Seoul (bulgogi) Burger, and the Katsu Pork Burger. Garlic fries here are pretty different. They're not your typical fries, but they have this sweet glaze on them, but still keeps it super crunchy and crisp. Even towards the end as we were snacking on the remaining fries they were still crunchy because of that glaze. It is a bit weird at first perhaps because it's sweet and savory, but once you start eating more it'll grow on you. The Seoul Burger, which is basically just a bulgogi burger, was tasty. The best part about it was honestly the fried egg, which just went together so well with the rest of the burger. Just beware, this is a dirty burger to eat, as in, there's a ton of sauce in it dripping down from the bulgogi, so eat with caution if you're worried about cleanliness. It's also got lettuce in it too, but everything just came together well. I wouldn't mind having it again. The Katsu Pork Burger was good. It wasn't anything mind blowing, as the sauce it came with was just okay. Kind of bland for a Katsu sauce in all honesty. It wasn't bad, but just felt really bland compared to the Seoul Burger. The katsu patty was pretty good though. Tender, not too dry, which can happen fairly easily when fried stuff is concerned. There wasn't quite as much going on with the burger, but it was still good. All in all, I will definitely be back next time. Today I mainly just tried out some of the more unusual items with the burgers, because why try a regular burger when I can try stuff I can't usually find elsewhere. I definitely want to try the Uncle Jay Burger next time, as that fried egg plant has me intrigued. Everything else about this place, from the price and service is something to be desired. I don't do burgers or fast food very often but was so glad to try Uncle Jay Burger House! After perusing the menu, I decided on a Seoul Burger with fries. I settled into a large booth and took a look around. The Concord location was nicely spruced up with bright white paint and dark wood floors. Orchids were in the floor dividers. Nice, orderly atmosphere. My order was quickly available and WOW! was a presentation. Silver platter, lined with paper. Burger half-wrapped with the exposed end drizzled in sauces. What a scrumptious sight! I took my first bite and my tastebuds went into overdrive! Tender bulgoki meat with a perfectly fried egg, gooey cheese blending with amazing sauces. My tongue was doing the happy dance! The fries were perfectly cooked. To set expectations, the fries are not fresh cut but rather the packaged, lightly coated type. This is NOT a bad thing. They were delicious and I would recommend them. Next time, I'm going for the garlic fries! I didn't interact with the staff because there are efficient kiosks to place your order and then your name is called out and the order is at the window. Very efficient. First off let me say parking itself is not the easiest to find so get there atleast 20 min ahead to find decent parking within walking distance. Now onto everything else the service was IMMACULATE the ladies are so kind and sweet and patient that alone is my sole reason for returning. Bulgoki fries - 8/10 honestly it's more of a meal then a side so if you're not hungry just getting these fries by themselves will be filling. For 13 bucks I did think it was pricy till I realized how much they STACKED the meat and veggies and sauces on and that's not including that the fries are garlic fries as the base instead of plain fries. Seoul Burger - 6/10 it was definitely unique I wouldn't choose it over the western burger but it was okay definitely on the sweeter side compared to most bulgoki. Western Burger - 10/10 it was so good and they drowned it in the sauce so you got a taste with each bite and they were NOT stingy with the avacado i'll tell you that (i even ordered one to go after for a midnight snack) Garlic Fries - 9/10 if you like minimal garlic taste you'd like it. I personally LOVE when they're drowned in garlic but this isn't however it's still good and really crunchy. They've taken over the old Hot Dog Palace space and offer char-grilled burgers and hot dogs. I walked in last week looking for a delicious burger and that's exactly what I got! Julie (one of the owners) was so friendly and kind. She told me that they're still in their soft opening phase and that they're in the process of revamping both their menu and dining area. Went simple and ordered a cheeseburger and fries and it did not disappoint! The burger was nice, juicy, and well seasoned. The veggies were all very fresh and the burger sauce was tasty. It's a good filling burger. The bun was nicely charred underneath. My one small nitpick was that I found the burger bun to be a bit too bready. At times, it felt like I was eating mostly bread versus the actual burger. Julie did come by to ask me how everything was and I did express this to her. But other than, the burger was quite delicious. The fries were pretty standard but also good. One thing I noticed that is they give you ketchup packets here. They don't have a condiment dispenser, but that could be something that they're working on acquiring in the future. The interior space is really bright and clean. The color scheme looks pretty identical to that of what Hog Dog Palace had, but again, they are in the process of upgrading this too. Woowee, these burgers pack a punch in terms of flavor! I normally prefer my hamburgers with no frills. While you can get a plain ole hamburger at Uncle Jay, their specialty lies in their loaded, Korean-inspired burgers. We got the Western burger and the Uncle Jay burger. Both packed a punch in terms of flavor, and it felt so satisfying to chow those babies down. You won't find burgers like these anywhere else around here!
