A coworker recommended Parma Deli to me and told me, "You have to try the meatloaf sandwich--it's amazing." So today for lunch, I decided to see what all the hype was about. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by an incredibly friendly staff. They took the time to tell me about what they had, and I ended up ordering the meatloaf sandwich with spicy cheddar. I'll tell you what--I think I just found my new favorite deli! The sandwich was absolutely incredible. Great flavor, generous portions, and easily one of the best deli sandwiches I've had in years. The picture speaks for itself! Great food, great people, and the kind of place you're already thinking about visiting again before you've even finished your first meal. Kind of sad this went the way it did as I had a good first experience the first time I came here.. 2nd time here.. This message is purely on the price and the service of things I came in with my 2 daughters and ordered a total of 5 sandwiches, 3 of which were literally ham and cheese for my obvious 2 daughters that were with me and 1 for my son who was at home when asked if plain I said yes they just want ham and cheese and plain no mayo on one due to my small daughter being picky on sliced bread at that.. He makes them and it comes out to 70 dollars.. I had to get more money as my husband had sent it to me , the guy who made my sandwiches told the guy that I needed to pay and the shorter guy replied to him like yeah I told her, but she needs more money. I kind of felt embarrassed due to the tone he had said it in, needless to say when I was paying, I said something along the lines of $70 was kind of a lot. I didn't know that ham and cheese for a kid would be this expensive in which the guy replied we have kids sandwiches All you have to do is ask... I did not feel like that was a kind response..as again there was attitude.. I paid anyway and I get it things are expensive nowadays and something like a ham and cheese I probably could've made at home but decided to support a local business instead... suggest maybe adding kid options to the menu that's up above and a smile would go very far. Both Genova Delis in Walnut Creek closed so the number of good Delis is shrinking. It had been a while since I went to Parma Deli and had one of their sandwiches. Parma is on the edge of Concord almost in Clayton but worth the drive. I ordered a Poorboy sandwich on a sweet roll. After Maggoria closed down it has been hard to get a good sandwich roll. The rolls at Parma are excellent, soft, fresh, not filling, sandwich had fresh produce and lots of meat cuts blending into a great Poorboy sandwich. If you were a Genova fan, you will love the sandwiches at Parma. Drive a little further and treat your self to a generous sized tasty sandwich or pasta. read more

This place deserves all the praise it receives! Great deli sandwiches, many Italian accoutrements and a wide variety of chips and drinks! The 'mom' and son are AWESOME with customer service, make beautifully crafted sandwiches and seem to know every other customer by name! I have been going to them, occasionally over 20+ years, lately to buy Molinari Mortadella by weight. I find it to be just as good as Rovagnati, yet different, skipping the pistachios and leaning into black pepper. So fkn good! I find it sweet, yet slightly challenging, that they've hired a special needs boy (black/brown hair, short, small hands, hard of hearing), so bring patience when ordering from him! The shop is small but has sandwiches, a steam table of prepared food, and Italian market staples. We ordered our Italian mix and a BLT. Short time later, a gent brought our food to our table. It's an odd thing when the service makes a place frustrating. I came in with my family to order a few subs, my wife is feeling the need to satisfy a craving so we decided to hop on into Parma delicatessen. I knew immediately I wanted the meatball sub. This is an item that I traditionally ordered it a lot of different places. This is where it got a bit weird. I wanted to order it with spicy mayo, pickles, and hot peppers. I went up to the counter, placed my order with the guy before asking for the additional items on top of the sandwich, I clarified to make sure it was possible to order them, which he confirmed. He repeated it back to me two times asking me if I was sure which again I confirmed with him on what I wanted. Well that alone was annoying. I wasn't too bothered by the inconvenience. Perhaps he was just being extra cautious. As the rest of the family ordered, and I stood around and waited, I can hear him consistently making chatter about it as if it was a big deal. I don't get it. It's my preference for a sandwich. It's the way I want it. Why does it have to continually be a weird topic of conversation among all the employees? Here's where it becomes tricky because the sandwich was incredible! I would easily order it again. It's just annoying that that gets critiqued, but my preferences are my preferences and I like them. I have been here several times and each time, the sandwhich is just as good as the previous. There is seating but it is not much. Best is to take it home to eat! The food here is not only just HUGE but also very delicious. If you are nitpicky with workers using gloves then this ain't the place for you. The Italian Mix (consists of Salami, Mortadella, Prosciutto with provolone) is a 10/10 and it was so good that it KO'd my sibling out for the day! Normally he doesn't like sandwhiches but this one was 100% approved. I also have tried other combinations with Garlic Herb Turkey (GHT) and another meat as a combo or just GHT with different type of cheese, Pesto and all the works. They don't skimp on the veggies either. GHT + Provalone on Sourdough ($15) is 9.5/10 GHT + Mortadella + Swiss on Sourdough ($15.50) is a 9.5/10. GHT + Garlic Cheddar + Pesto on Sourdough ($16) is a 10/10. Pepper Turkey + Garlic Cheddar (they put regular Cheddar instead) + Pesto. ($16) is a 7/10. GHT + Pastrami + Swiss on Dutch Crunch ($14) is a 9/10 - Also another banger that KO'd someone for the day lol. It makes sense why everyone comes here! The sandwiches here are FREAKING HUGE and super fulfilling as hell. I always get recommendations from my coworkers to check out all these places and it has taken me a while to finally come here and try it out. Had a meet up with friends in the Concord for some pickleball. My friends who live in the area suggested a place for lunch after playing and I recommended a deli in Concord that my friend Harvey K. had suggested. They checked out the Yelp page and were impressed with the pics of the sandwiches and its high Yelp rating. It was set, we were coming here for lunch. So on a Thursday, the six of us arrived at 12:15pm. Not knowing if they would be able to have seating us, there were two tables of six and only two peeps were sitting at one table. So we sat at one table and two of us went up to the counter to order. Since it was the first time here for all of us, we had questions about the menu items, such as what was in the Italian Mix and what was in the Crab Salad sandwich. The owner, Mary, was cordial and described each sandwich. She said she would just take our orders and we could just pay afterwards since we were all together. The sandwiches starting coming out within 5 minutes. I got the Italian Mix on Dutch Crunch with everything except pepperoncini. I can see why this is Harvey's favorite. It was big and filled with Italian deli meats, salami, mortadella and even had prosciutto and topped with provolone. Seeing pics of how large it was, I shared it with the W and it was the perfect amount of food. When the sammie came, I said we were sharing it and they thoughtfully brought another basket over. Very nice! At our table, a couple of Italian Mixes, hot Pastrami, and Turkey sandwiches were ordered. Everyone was happy with their sammies and my friend even ordered two more sandwiches to bring back home for the kids. Parma reminded me of the old school Italian Delis in SF's North Beach. As someone who grew up in the Bay Area, I've missed the traditional sub sandwiches, with a good sourdough roll, thinly sliced meat, and your basic toppings of mustard, mayo, pepperoncini, tomatoes, and lettuce.
