This chain restaurant is trying new things, and it doesn't make it a better experience for me. Firstly as someone who doesn't eat red meat, I can no longer eat their fries or onion rings since they're fried in beef fat (they call it tallow). I usually order the cod sandwich, and they assured me that it's not cooked in tallow, actually they said it's cooked in olive oil which I'm not sure is correct, but at any rate I didn't taste any beef fat and it was delicious. Also, I have enjoyed their shakes made with cashew milk in the past, but now they use something different, and they still taste pretty good. What the employees on duty told me conflicts with the website, but they said this location uses Oatley oat milk, and they actually showed me the carton to prove it. Now for the service, the man taking my order seemed new as he didn't know much, but was able to answer my questions by asking the manager on duty, which I appreciated. Also he got my shake order wrong but apologized multiple times and got me the correct one. Since I couldn't order fries or onion rings I wanted a side salad, but unfortunately they were out of it! So a questionable experience overall, and I may choose to dine somewhere different next time as there are many restaurants in this strip-mall location, plus Whole Foods across the street. As far as ambiance, they have ample indoor seating and a nice outdoor patio with music, which is partly sunshine, partly shade, and of course popular with dogs and their owners. read more

I love that Burger Lounge offers gluten free buns, so that those with gluten allergies or celiac can enjoy a burger. They prepare the burger separately and safely to avoid cross contamination. I do wish that they had gluten-free fries, but the fryer is used for more than one item and therefore the fries aren't safe for gluten-allergic folks. The service was quite friendly and attentive. They were asking for folks to fill out a comment questionnaire, so I'm sure that was partially the motivation, but it was appreciated nonetheless. The ambience is casual; burger joint vibes, but very clean and spacious. There was nothing wrong with the food. It was tasty. The pricing was fair. Wow, it was good! After a long day at work, a long commute home, I decided to try Burger Lpunge. Ordered the western burger and fries. They have a special price for the western at $8 right now and that was such a deal! Great burger- it does come a little pink, but I ate it just fine! Fries are great- thicker than McDonald's, sort of the width of Wendy's fries, and tastes a little more natural. The kids who work here are super polite and even offered to take my tray as I exited. I've been coming to Burger Lounge in Walnut Creek on and off for years. One of the main reasons I keep returning is that they offer grass-fed beef and generally healthier ingredients than most burger chains. My biggest issue has always been consistency. Sometimes the food is absolutely delicious, and other times it's so different that it feels like you're eating at a completely different restaurant. I've ordered the same items over the years and had dramatically different experiences depending on the visit. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was enough to motivate me to finally write a review. I ordered my usual cod burger and added American cheese. The only thing I changed was trying the gluten-free bun. When my meal arrived, the bun was dry, crumbly, and falling apart, so I ended up removing it. That's when I noticed the cheese was missing. I went to the counter and politely let the manager know. A few minutes later, she came to my table carrying a single slice of cheese on a plate. By that point I had already removed the bun and eaten about a third of the burger, so handing me a cold slice of cheese wasn't exactly a solution. I declined it and continued eating. A few minutes later, while I was still trying to finish my meal, she returned to my table, leaned over it, and loudly explained that I hadn't been charged for the cheese. At that point I just nodded and said "OK, thank you" because I wanted to finish my lunch in peace. The missing cheese wasn't really the problem. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was the way the situation was handled. Combined with the ongoing inconsistency in the food, it left a bad taste in my mouth, pun intended. I still appreciate Burger Lounge's commitment to better ingredients, but after years of mixed experiences, I wish the execution and customer service were more consistent. read more

This place is great for the price! The meats and sides are high quality. The fish sandwich lacks a little in flavor, but the turkey burger is always amazing. The tablets to order can take a while and glitch, but if you want to speak with a person, they are always very kind and efficient. This is located in The Orchards shopping center. There is plenty of parking available as there are many restaurants in this large center. We order takeout from here on occasion. I've tried a few things on the menu, but the latest was the California Lounge Burger (burger, avocado, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, BL 1000 island). With all the fixings, it was a pretty large burger. You can taste the difference in the quality of beef; they use 100% grassfed beef. The burger patty was made like a smash burger with crispy edges but the temp inside was still cooked to my liking. I also got a side of onion rings with ranch. Today is the 2nd time in the 5-7 yr I have patronized them, that the company used a bait and switch. They advertise a kids rat free if you purchase an entree. When you purchase, it wonʻt allow it. I drove 13 mi from Pittsburg to Walnut Creek to treat my kid to this. I call & they say, the issue is I ordered a discount entree and I cannot get the kids free meal then. There was a lot of "you know, that's how it is", "thats normal every place you go", but no defense to the fact that the advertisement for kids eat free with an entree did NOT indicate the entree needed to be full price. When I arrive, the employee does not realize I was the one she just spoke to and she is insulting me on the phone with the GM/owner & describing my concerns as "complaining", & framing it in a way that I am trying to get 2 discounts at once, rather than the truth: I got an offer and went to order it so it was ready when I arrived, and they switch the rules that we offer was under. The way you tell a story matters and the The way you tell a story matters and the way you talk about said customer when you think the customer doesn't hear you matters. I totally get their point, but they never got mine. You don't get to advertise one thing and offer another. After a trip up to Mt Diablo, we stopped here for a quick bite. I had a basic burger and a beer, and enjoyed it. My wife and God-father had the "new" buffalo burger. They were not too crazy about it. We stopped by last night after playing 18 at Boundary Oaks. No line, did the self ordering at the kiosk. Restaurant was clean and had a few tables filled. Short wait for our burgers and fries/onion rings. The beef patties were tasty and juicy. I liked that they used shredded lettuce as it gave more flavor, IMO. I ordered online pickup. My husband had the Lounge burger with added avocado and bacon. For $19.80, he expected a gourmet burger full of flavor. He said the burger was just okay and ate half. He was disappointed. I ordered the Wild Alaskan Cod Sandwich with Gluten-free bread ($1.95) extra. I was really excited since it was "WILD" cod verses farm-raised. It missed the mark... the cod had no flavor. It needed seasoning and the cod was not cooked long enough. It was cold and mushy inside. For $14.90, I expected better. Like my husband, I only ate half of the sandwich. Shaking-my-head. We also ordered the chicken tenders. The batter was thick and hard. The chicken was dry. No bueno! Wow this place was so good! I was pleasantly surprised at how many vegan options they had. I got the Plant Based Lounge burger (made with Impossible) and requested vegan cheese. The burger comes with a vegan thousand island sauce. The caramelized onions and shredded lettuce are my favorite burger toppings and they were amazing! I also got a dairy free chocolate shake (made with cashew milk). The staff were super friendly and the restaurant is pretty modern and clean. I went there about noon on a Tuesday, didn't expect too many people but the place was dead silent. There weren't even employees behind the counter, only a few tablets to order on. I honestly thought they were closed until one stepped out from behind the kitchen door to say hi. I prefer human interaction to ordering on a tablet that god knows how many people have touched, I'm sure they clean it but the health code violation on the front door doesn't really re-enforce that thought. I got a classic burger to go, it was very mediocre. It was pretty dry and bland, nothing special about it. Burger Lounge is located off of Ygnacio Valley Rd, right next to California Fish Grill, and in the same shopping center as Jack's Urban Eats and Thai Thani. I've seen Burger Lounge for awhile now since I frequent California Fish Grill, along with other spots in this shopping area that's just filled with eating options, but had yet to actually try them out for myself. Decided to do a take-out order with them through their website. It was pretty straight forward, and wasn't a whole lot of hoops to jump through to get the order in. Their menu size is pretty good, but it's a burger place primarily, so how many options would you really want there to be anyways. For those who are vegetarian or want chicken options as well, this place does offer it. Prices are reasonable, as the amount of food I got matched the pricing pretty well. Everything else eating wise is around this price anyways, so it's comparable if anything. Today I ordered a Husky Burger and a side of onion rings/fries. The onion rings/fries were pretty good. I actually do dig their fries quite a bit, and the onion rings were, alright. No complaints with them here, especially since the half/half were pretty cheap for what you get. If you were to compare it I'd say you can compare it to the one at The Habit, but I feel they probably give you better portions here for the cost. The Husky Burger is basically their double burger. Let's talk about the patty quality first. Their patties are made well. They're cooked just right, and everything here is medium unless otherwise stated, but certainly done quite well. Not dry, just enough juices. Well cooked patty. The stuff inside the burger were good too, albeit, it was just their basic burger with tomatoes lettuce, etc. The thousand island dressing it comes with is, kinda bland for my taste. If anything, that's probably my only complaint about the burger is that how bland the burger itself was. Just had almost no flavor to it. None of the sauces really gave off any distinct flavor, and the patties themselves probably had the majority of the flavor in the burger, not that I'm complaining. The sauces here, they'll charge extra if you want extra, but they are pretty good actually. Fairly different, so I could understand. I got the BBQ sauce, and it's a very sweet and smokey sauce. Not sure I could have too much of it, but was interesting, and I wonder what their other sauces tastes like now. Overall, Burger Lounge is a solid burger place to be at if you're in the area. They cook their patties well, so that is certainly one of the standouts here, as the size of the patties are also quite, meaty. I do wish it was a bit more flavorful from the actual sauces they put onto the burger, but will be curious to try out some of the other saucier options next time to see if it has the same problem. So disappointed. Burger Lounge used to be my favorite, and we just went back and the quality of products used has just tanked. Also, despite ordering at the Kiosk, somehow messed up our order. They gave my husband a meat patty when he paid an extra $2 for an impossible one and then gave us each the wrong sauce. We don't like to waste so he just ate it. Also the onion rings he normally gets would be crispy and delicious. This time they looked soggy and disgusting. They didn't even put his whole burger together and left his added bacon just thrown in the middle of the tray. So odd. They also changed the BL 1,000 island and it is no longer vegan. The food is always good here. My family keeps it simple with burger and fries which they always do well. Meat is juicy, buns are soft, and vegetables are fresh. The fries are crispy on outside and fluffy on the inside. Everything comes out hot and delicious. The only reason I dock it a star are for things that probably have to do with staff shortage. The food took a while to come out and they didn't bring everything. We had to go back up to ask about the fries and sauces. In addition a few drinks at the fountain were low on syrup. Have limited variety of all your heart desire burgers including Paleo (bun free, protein style) one. Whole wheat buns and grilled onion with juicy Patty is really some thing to give it a try. Tried their Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger which was delicious. The truffle flavor came through and the beef patty was juicy. The bun felt super rustic yet really soft. There was slight bitterness that came through with each bite - wasn't sure where it came from (maybe the arugula?) but it wasn't unpleasant. I did wish there were more mushrooms on the burger. But other than that, my burger was quite delicious. We also got Half & Half (Half Onion Rings and Half French Fries) as a side to share, and the onion rings were good (slightly thinner on the batter though) and the fries were also tasty. Overall I really liked what we got from this place. I think the price was a bit high though in my opinion ($13 for my burger as of January 2023) while the portion wasn't that huge, and the burger didn't come with any side. I'd love to try this place again during happy hour though (see one of my photos). The service was nice, and staff were friendly. The restaurant seemed well kept and clean.
