We have been to Mona's three times now. The ten year old always gets the kids hotdog with pineapple and I get the Mona's burger, sub the impossible burger, no bacon and fries. Mona's has been our favorite local burger. Last night My wife was craving fries, and the spicy curly fries came to the rescue, as always. I had the Diablo burger for the second time, and swapped fresh red onions for the default sautéed. They were thinly sliced-perfect. We also got an order of the buffalo chicken wings and they had the perfect texture and flavor. We were here for an early Saturday lunch. I think we were the first people in the place. The restaurant is fairly casual, but very comfortable. Love the Banksy-style artwork on the walls. I guess I was a day early for National Cheeseburger Day 9/18. But yesterday I came to Mona's during happy hour, which is 2pm to 5pm. On the happy hour menu is $4 beers, $2 sodas, chicken tenders and wings for $5, and of course, choice of burgers/fries for $11. We ended up ordering all of the above. Chicano Burger: this burger has cheddar cheese with guacamole. I added an extra 1/4 pound patty for $4. It was decent. An average burger taste-wise. Chicken tenders: these were excellent. Really tender and fried perfect. I would order this everytime I come to Mona's. Buffalo wings: these were standard, good tasting, freshly fried wings. Great deal for happy hour. I've lived in the area for 4 years now and I've been to Mona when I first moved here. I've brought family and friends to dine there and I've also ordered for pickup. In my experience with my orders throughout the last 4 years, I feel like the food quality has declined. The service and the staff are AWESOME. But when you get a Gott's burger in Walnut Creek, then a Mona burger in Concord, the quality difference and the flavor is so different. There needs to be more seasoning in the burgers at Mona. Additionally, I usually order the steak salad and the steak was really bland and the beets weren't cooked all the way. The fried onion topping looked like...huge pieces of fried batter and not small fried crunchy pieces? I hope you consider this feedback improved because we should have good and delicious choices in our neighborhood! The whole family was around to celebrate my birthday recently on a hot 100°+ day. Come mid-afternoon the house seemed like it was getting warm, and oh oh the vents were blowing hot air - the A/C was on the fritz! A couple hours later it was getting pretty toasty inside - the motion to adjourn to an air conditioned restaurant was carried unanimously! We decided to try out Mona's. My wife and I had been to the Clayton Rd Mona's and enjoyed it, but it closed after a fire. We looked forward to trying out this other one. There were six of us so we were fortunate to find the restaurant wasn't full on a Saturday night (probably because of the heat). We were a little surprised at how much smaller this location was compared to the former Clayton Road location. We all ordered, and despite a small crowd in the restaurant it took quite a while for the food to come. Fortunately drinks and appetizers filled the time and the server was friendly. I had a cheeseburger that I thought was just OK. The bun was good, but the burger was awfully charred. They serve skinny fries, not my favorite in any case, and these were hard with not much soft inside. The chocolate shake was tasty, and interestingly they serve two sizes of shakes (how much do you want to throw calories to the wind tonight?). My wife was have of the same opinion for her burger. But the biggest let down was it was just godawful hot in the restaurant - and escaping the heat was our main reason for eating out! Their A/C air ducks are located near the ceiling and did not blow on our table at all, given the small size of the room. And the A/C system simply could not cope with the heat. My burger was under cooked, I asked for medium and it was more rare. Overall the burger was okay, but nothing that would have me craving it. The only thing that I did not like were the french fries are not made Fresh from real potatoes I also saw some french fries that were called flats that look like they were cut and peeled french fries but the host told me that they were frozen fries french. Although I did not order the fries and the host saw my concern. I plan to bring my daughters and son back out here to eat and I may just try the fries then. My wife picked up the food after I ordered online. First, I did not get the correct size on my 24oz milkshake, I received 3 12oz ones. Secondly, the burger was bland with a massive stale wheat bun. She came out with a box and bill, which was about $24. I gave (2) 20s. The server asked if I needed change. I, of course, said yes. There is no way I'd give $15 for this lack of service. I gave $3. I used to be a bartender and a server. I worked hard on customer service even when busy. I typically tip over 20%. But for the server to assume I'd give $15 for no service. No way. I'm pretty patient and empathize. But I do expect a few check-ins to make sure I'm doing ok. Food was great. Service significantly needs to improve. read more

Solid place for delicious burgers, friendly staff, and the best Nutella milkshake I have ever had. I stumbled across this when it took over the Italian restaurant over a year ago. I took a look at the menu and was delighted to see that it specialized in specialty burgers. 'Oh no, this is dangerous for me' I thought, while going to Trader Joes next door to get my groceries. During the beginning of COVID, they were able to have great outdoor dining. Their fantastic staff also provided a friendly atmosphere that really preserved the dining experience that everybody was looking forward to when eating out. It was also nice that you could grab a beer or a wine along with your meal (though I still prefer the Nutella milkshake). I came back, most recently, to place an order for two milkshakes. My significant other wanted to try the Birthday Cake, which had fun sprinkles in it that added a nice texture to the delicious and creamy shake. The flavor for that did taste just like vanilla though, so the flavor didn't seem as special. Nutella one had nice ribbons of Nutella drizzle in the shake and was delightful as always.
