When it comes to pizza, I've had the Hoboken Grimaldi's, Patsy's, John's on Bleeker, New Haven Pepe's, etc etc. American pizza is that fast food pizza. And it can only be so good, I know. We called in a order of large pepperoni pizza and large meat lovers pizza, the total was only $25, which I thought was a good deal. They were polite and the pizzas were ready when we got there and they were a good size. We took them home and they fed 6 people for $25. I liked the pizzas, good flavor and lots of meet. As far as the both of us where concerned, we agreed. The cheese tastes like it's been in the fridge to long. In my opinion the sauce needed salt. Uncle John's is a fitting name for this local pizza establishment on Carrier in Grand Prairie. The look and style of the pizza is reminiscent of the Papa chain, but the phrase "better ingredients, better pizza" is much more fitting for the Uncle. After deciding we didn't want to settle for one of the two prominent chains, we opted to try Uncle John's. Ordering on their website was easy and interestingly at least as intuitive and easy as either Papa's or the Domino. We opted for the 16" X-Large two topping for $13.99. We expected it would be a bit more expensive than a chain, and hoped the taste would warrant the difference. We went with Bacon/Pepperoni and Mushroom for our pizza. They estimated it would be ready at 8:24, but we headed there early to ensure we would get our pizza hot. Sure enough, when I walked into the store at 8:15, the young lady was already cutting our pizza. She was courteous, added a small paper bag of parmesan and red pepper and we were on our way. My wife noted the smell was particularly good before I even finished loading the box into the car. We got home and it was visually rather impressive. Although we didn't order extra cheese, it looked like more than we get when we do order extra cheese from the chains. If there was one downside to this experience, it was that we ordered extra sauce and there was definitely less than I would have hoped. Next time I will see if there is an extra extra setting? That being said, the flavors popped. And while an extra large is often barely enough to feed our hungry family of three, this easily fed us with about a quarter of a pizza leftover. We got the garlic butter crust, and I definitely commend it. This was the best local pizza experience I have had in this area. I'm writing this review primarily in hopes that we can ensure they get enough business to stay afloat during the COVID season. Seriously, if you are looking for an excellent pizza, try Uncle John's. This was our first pizza from there, but it certainly won't be our last. read more
