We had an opportunity to try this place out last week and ordered the Prime Brisket sandwich for $9.00. When it arrived it only came with the sandwich, you have to order everything else separately. When I opened the container it looked nice, however, it looked like catchup was sitting on top. We took our first bite and were so disappointed. First the meat had good smoke but no seasoning. Also, the sandwich was cold. Im not talking room temp I'm talking cold and the sauce tasted like catchup that had vinager added to it, just not good. They didnt even take time to toast the bread so once they put it on top of the cold meat it was dry. Overal this place was a fail. read more

It's great to see another business in this case a food truck, that allows me to patronize a humble person/family that cooks with great love. I decided to try Uncle Johns because another place that I wanted to get food from wasn't open. I had the brisket plate for take out so I can eat it for lunch on my break time at work. The brisket was pretty good, tender some and with the added bbq sauce gave it good flavor and enjoyable to eat. My side with the plate was the potato salad. Pretty good as well, very homemade and enjoyable as well. It also came with cornbread. Now the cornbread was absolutely amazing and probably one of the best I ever had. The sweetness of the cornbread was just right and perfect. For desert, I added the peach cobbler which was also delicious. Great service as well. read more

I'm from GA and I have been eating BBQ throughout the southeastern states for decades. This is the best BBQ I have found in Delaware so far. Every item tastes like great care was taken to prepare it. The meats are succulent and the cornbread is like dessert. Show up early before the food runs out and you'll feel lucky. read more

My favorite barbeque joint in the area. This place closes each day when the food runs out, so I recommend getting there around noon. Recommend the Carolina pork sandwich combo. Best deal around. read more

I can only give 4 stars because I haven't tried the ribs yet. We swung by for a quick lunch and settled on the Pulled Pork and Brisket sandwich. The brisket was salty, fatty, smokey goodness. Perfectly done, one of the best I've ever eaten! The pork was amazingly well done; moist and tender. Sauce was tangy with a slight hint of vinegar. Simple white rolls, nothing else needed. Uncle Johns is by far one of the best hole in the wall BBQ joints in delaware. The Brisket is moist and has the perfect smokey flavor. The Catfish is very good, the breading is crispy but not oily. Pretty good brisket although kinda fatty and a bit dry .. but another reviewer said that's the way is supposed to be?? We added more bbq sauce. Very big portions. Others got the pulled pork and said it was awesome. Corn bread was great. I do think it was odd that they only had MTN dew and brisk iced tea.. no water?! Headed toward the Wawa, my eye spied a column of fragrant smoke. My curiosity compelled me to take a detour, and I'm so glad I did! I had a platter of pulled pork with bbq beans, and Craig had the brisket. We kept stealing from each other's containers- not being able to determine which we liked more! This glorious bbq is gorgeously seasoned, perfectly smoked, moist, and scrumptious. The sides were equally delicious. I highly recommend the bbq beans. They are a unique recipe, slightly piquant, with a lovely hint of cumin which beautifully compliments the sweet and smoky blend of complex flavors. Don't let the size fool you-they have so many different types of BBQ and made-from-scratch collards that are to die for! Everything is wonderful, tasty, fall-off-the-bone smoked. More please!!! I was worried that I would not find a good BBQ place when I moved here from Texas. John did not let me down. The man knows his BBQ. The brisket was moist and trimmed to perfection. The ribs did not have the mesquite flavor that I'm used to, but it was still delicious...falls off the bone. His sauce was a sweet smoky flavor with a bit of a kick at the end.
