Brisket had far more fat than meat, and the chicken was so dry it was almost inedible. Had to smother it in bbq sauce just to get it down. Very disappointed. I really, really wanted this to be better BBQ. For Delaware, I'm sure it's great, but as a Texan, it doesn't come close. Great service, we were greeted and sat quickly, though it was mid afternoon so not very busy. We decided to get a few combos and sample a little of everything: Ribs & sausage with a side of slaw Brisket & pulled pork with a side of beans & rice The table had 3 sauce options: Filthy Hot (which wasn't), Classic and Carolina (the most flavor but very liquid). The ribs weren't fall off the bone but were tender, and with a good smoke ring. The sausage tasted more Amish style than Texas, not bad. The brisket was dry & flavorless, and the pulled pork, while moist, needed more smoke and seasoning. The slaw was under seasoned and underdressed (which was surprising) but a little Carolina sauce got it right. Overall, so-so, which makes me sad because I LOVE good TX bbq. Do NOT let this place slip by your radar. Was found be a mistake. Thank god for a sign on 95. Misty was so incredibly informed that she made our choices simple. We found ourselves bringing more food home than we ate there. Dont leave without getting the turkey. Just wished that we lived closer. Place is an absolute must. I've been here a few times over the years, and it's been mostly good. But today it was just bad. I got the two meats plus one side for $24. The pulled pork I ordered was OK, but half of it was cold as if it had been reheated. I also got the quarter chicken which was an absolute joke. It was so small I actually thought it was a weird looking wing and drummie . I should've taken a picture, it was actually comical. But hey, at least it was overcooked and leathery. The spicy green beans were very good though. The three dollar iced tea was so weak it tasted like water, and looked like it too, you could easily read the menu through it, that's how clear it was. Waitress service was OK, but I really liked it a lot better when you walked in, order yourself, and sat down for your number to be called, no waitress, kind of like Mission BBQ. I might return to give it one more chance, but it was a pretty underwhelming experience, especially the value. A lot of money for a small amount of reheated and overcooked food. I was going to leave one star, but the interior is very nice and tasteful. There was only one other table in there, I'm not sure this place will last. read more

I wanted to love it. The bbq came out warm-ish and simply would have been better hot. The sides were a bit warmer overall but also not hot. Paying $75 for warm food isn't a great experience. The sweet tea is very sweet, which is fine for me but I know others like their tea more bitter. The collards are passable but are a little bit caucasian. First time here. The place us nice, clean and spacious. Very interesting that all the chairs at each table are different. Our service was friendly and tentative. Food was ok. We ordered a dish that has 5 different kinds of meat to sample and share. The meats were: Brisket, Pulled pork, Smoked chicken, Kielbasa and Ribs. The brisket was tasty but quite fatty. The ribs was delicious and tender. The rest were all a bit overcooked and dry to us. There were also some taste of gasoline to the chicken. Maybe they use the gasoline to start the grill or something. This dish came with 5 side dishes. We picked roasted brushes sprout, collard green, white chadder Mac and cheese and cucumber salad. We feld that all the side dishes were good. We also ordered the Everything chillies, it was interesting that it had big chunks of meat in it but it was good too. read more

I'm only going 4 stars because everything was delicious, but the sauce on the table was only okay and not my favorite sauce I've ever had. We have had some pretty bad Delaware Bbq and have also been disappointed by just about every other restaurant that we've seen on instagram on various local influencer pages, but this place was awesome. We were pretty much sold when the Texican street corn dip came out. Those chips covered in seasoning was such a beautiful thing after the last few disappointing bland meals locally. The chips were freshly made and covered in dry rub. And the dip was delicious as well with subtle smoky flavors from the chicken and also sweet from the corn. We devoured that! I got the brisket grilled cheese (minus bacon jam since we don't eat pork) from the specials menu and ordered a 1/4 pound of smoked turkey as well. OMG the sandwich was one of my favorite sandwiches maybe ever. The bread was buttery and grilled and there was crispy cheese all around the sandwich. The brisket basically melted in my mouth. I will definitely need this again very soon! The fries that came with the sandwich were also seasoned well and were great fries. The turkey was super tender and definitely not dry at all. I was so happy that I could only eat half of everything so I could have it the next day as well! Bf got the two meat platter and couldn't decide on just one side, so he got 3. He got brisket and dark meat chicken. The meat was awesome and he enjoyed both. He got the Mac and cheese, coleslaw, and the trucker potatoes. He did ask for some of the bbq seasoning on the side and added it to everything and he said it made it even better. He's pretty picky about his mac and cheese, and this was to his liking. Waitress walked by and I asked to be seated at a table because the kid behind me was flopping around like a fish. Seated at 1st table behind reception desk up against front window. Sat for another 10 minutes and still no interaction with any wait staff. My son used the bathroom and still no drink order taken, not even a "will be right with you". The ribs are bland and tasteless, the brisket was all fat, the poultry items we got where also dry and tasted like cardboard. We are new comers to the state and decided to travel to The Limestone during early evening hours. We anticipated quality BBQ food while in the area for a good eat. Unfortunately we were met with 2 slithers of dried out turkey breast and an attempt to pass off the quarter chicken as smoked (burnt dried out chicken that we had to to fight to attempt to get the meat off the bone. In addition; the subpar sides collared greens and shelled mac n cheese that was just terrible. The look and presentation of the food was so terrible we didn't even eat it. I would serve my dog in a better manner. We requested the manager, and his demeanor and no professionalism was subpar as well. The best item was our drink which we were willing to pay for but Mr. Unprofessional Manager was so appalled by our comment that he was turning red. Mr. Personality argued and insisted he's never had a bad review. I beg to differ. We gave you a honest consumer opinion of your establishment. Take notes of the customers concerns and do better. We've traveled further for better food. Limestone needs to take a trip to The Smokepit in Concord, NC or other BBQ joints and attempt to bring their service, food, and quality to a better standard than what we experienced. We have our annual Christmas party there. It begins when they open as most of us have worked nights and odd hours for far too long. The food is good, service is good. This year service was really awesome as they gave us 2 bartenders. I believe this is the first year we got 2. In the past we ended up with 1, even though we planned ahead with the manager and were told we would have 2. Maybe new manager, but we sure appreciated it. They were friendly and helpful and ran their butts off to keep us from getting parched or hungry! Great area to move around and mingle with people we haven't seen in a year. Second time visiting Limestone Bbq and was satisfied with my meal. They have several meat options to choose from brisket, pulled pork, chicken sausage, ribs and sausage. They also have a variety of chilled and hot sides. I went with the brisket, white cheddar Mac and cheese, and the sweet and sticky rancher beans on this visit. The brisket was perfect with the right amount of heat. The mac and cheese was tasty. The beans were okay, way too much bacon than beans and they also packed a little heat. Nachos and banana pudding were good. The sassafras sauce and baked chips makes the nachos worth the $13 dollar price, it also comes with tomatoes, prime rib, and jalapeños. I got a side of sour cream for $1. The ribs were thin and the membrane was left on which is not a personal preference of mine. The brisket was bland and the fat was not rendered all of the way. Mac and cheese was middle of the road. Big shells pick up a lot of sauce but I personally prefer a southern baked style. In total we paid $47 dollars. Service was great! Our waitress was bartending and busing tables while serving us and half of the restaurant which is super impressive. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a great looking bourbon bar. I would like to see how the live music is, the space is big and I imagine the sound would fill the entire restaurant. The surround sound is great they were playing an 80s/90s rock hits playlist. All of the utensils are plastic which is interesting. Even the banana pudding was in a knock off Tupperware type container. It's one of the better BBQ spots in Delaware. I've been there once, and the brisket was thick and flavorful. We went on a random weeknight, and it was raining, so it wasn't crowded. We sat at the bar and ordered an old-fashioned ranch water. It's a great restaurant to catch a game. I haven't had a chance to get back, but I'd recommend giving it a shot. read more

Big E stopped in ordered a High Grounds plate Brisket and Ribs with slaw, a pigged out plate pulled pork and hot Italian sausage with a slide of slaw also ordered a qtr chicken allowing me to sample all the meats but the turkey.. with drink $45.. so fair price for bbq these days. Reminds one of an old west bar with lots of wood , barrels and metal.. but nicely done and comfortable. Service was attentive friendly and quick. The food smoked on an ole hickory smoker was well prepared and good would agree probably best for I have had in Delaware. I try to taste BBQ in every city my travels take me. This time I wanted to try BBQ in Delaware and my stop in Limestone BBQ was good. I had the mixed chopped sandwich which was brisket, pork and chicken in their BBQ sauce. It was good but I should have just gone for the brisket. My wife had the pork sandwich which was actually better as you were able to add your own sauce. The white cheddar mac and cheese is a must try side. Very good! I've lived across the street from limestone BBQ for 30 years. Brisket started at $24 a pound now it's $40 a pound. They offered an incredible deal, the deal of the gods for one day on December 23. Buy $50 get $50. Had to jump on it. Went back a couple days later got a pound of brisket and some sides. Brisket was good not great like it normally is. Went back the next week got another pound and some sides. Opened it up. It was a disaster. I like a little fat on my brisket, but not big hunks in the middle of it. Took it right back they replaced it. What I got, then was the most flavorless driest brisket I ever got there. Now for $40 a pound, The brisket has to be spectacular. Especially when Mission is $28 a pound and just as good if not better. Went back to use the nine dollars left on the cards. I asked for the manager. Thanked him for the deal on the gift cards. Let him know about the brisket. He proceeded to tell me that maybe it was cut blah blah blah blah blah. Said he was sorry. Now if you're the manager you need to try the remedy the situation and keep a customer. If you're gonna make somebody the manager teach them how to put out a fire. It's not cancer research. The guys behind the counter cutting the meat are great dudes. Every time I go in there it looks like a 76ers game from last year nobody's there. I want to be fair . I'm going to try and be as fair as I can reviewing this place, and with that, I'll say it smelled good walking through the door. And that was probably the best thing I'll be able to say about this establishment. It should have been a clue when at 5:30 pm, there was only one other couple in the restaurant and two others at the bar. Not what you would expect at dinner time. I'm not sure if it is trying to mirror some legitimate Texas BBQ places with paper plates, plastic ware, and plastic cups, but it just felt cheap. Our waitress, as nice and attentive as she was, stopped in the middle of taking our order to check her phone for an incoming call. The food didn't take long to come out which was nice. I ordered the chili, which surprisingly was good with several meats in it and a spicy kick. That being said, I received no spoon and ate it with my plastic fork. I also got the hot sausage. I hesitate to call it hot sausage as it was neither hot in temperature or spiciness. In fact, the sausage came already cut up in to bite size pieces, and dry, as if it was reheated after being cut. Very disappointing. The cowboy potatoes were small red potatoes that had been roasted whole. Nothing special about them. And the macaroni and cheese was cold, and had to be sent back. The reorder came out nice and piping hot with some delicious crispy cheese on top. Finally, the brisket. It was adequate as well, but no smoke flavor to it. The fat cap rendered fairly well, but not quite enough. Overall it was ok. I was planning on having the banana pudding for dessert, but by this time had had enough. I really wanted to like this place, but it just didn't hit the mark. Bonus, it was nice to hear a few "F" bombs being dropped from the kitchen staff. Now I've worked in kitchens and understand how things go. But when the "kitchen" is in view and earshot of the dining public, probably not good. read more

In an area where Chile's and Applebee's dominate the local dining scene, it's great to have a barbecue option that can offer classic southern staples like smoked brisket and pulled pork, served alongside the token BBQ side dishes (hello cornbread and mac and cheese). The interior of the restaurant is fun and lively, and in non-COVID times, I can only imagine that the live music and bar combo inside would lead to a fun night out in New Castle County. But unfortunately for Limestone, the food itself (at least the takeout) just doesn't live up to the hype. The mac and cheese was delicious, but what should've been the star of the night - the smoked brisket, chicken, and ribs - were largely dry, tough, and lacked the punchy BBQ flavor I was hoping for. The classic barbecue sauce itself was sweet and tangy, but even the white barbecue sauce was a little thin and lackluster on flavor. All in all I would give Limestone another chance with indoor dining, but in the meantime, I don't think I'll be in a rush to go back for their takeout. read more

The past and it is just as good. The drinks were good and the food was served quickly and exactly as we ordered. I recently attended a Bridal Shower in the private room that they have too. The room give a real "prohibition time period vibe" which is pretty neat! When we went they had a nice long table that accommodated about 20 people. The food was served family style and was able to please the crowd. I recommend Limestone BBQ for someone looking for a quick full bite to eat, families, people with limited mobility, a small group looking to grab a quick drink, or even for someone looking for a venue for a small event! read more

Such a cute place. We ordered the Philthy Platter and got 3 meats (chicken, brisket and pulled pork) with 3 sides (brussel sprouts, mac and cheese and potato salad). There are 3 homemade barbeque sauces on the table carolina (vinager), classic (traditional) and philthy hot (spicy traditional). The platter was $27.99 but they offer a military discount so it came to $25.19. You also get complimentary pickles which were great and optional buttered bread which we choose not to get. The brisket was very tasty and fatty, the chicken was juicy and tender and the pork was alright. The brussel sprouts were very tasty and not over cooked, the mac and cheese was average and the potato salad was my least favorite since it was too sweet. I know it's not food related but still important the bathrooms were very clean and they have a western theme. We'll definitely come and try the platter again with different options. read more

We saw their sign on the interstate while we were searching for lunch so decided to give it a try. It's pretty far off the interstate. It looks great on the exterior and interior, very inviting. It was about 1 and empty. Should have seen that as a warning but we were tired. A server finally came over to seat us. My wife ordered the chicken salad and she liked it. The chicken was smoked. It was a pretty dry mix but she likes it that way. Came with pecans on a bed of lettuce. She didn't care for the dressing. I ordered a two meat combo of ribs and spicy sausage. Side was chili Mac. When it came out it looked great and was fork tender (even with a plastic fork). But the meats were both cold. I guess actually room temperature, but not warm in the least. We flagged down the server and she took the meat back. When it came back it was a new serving (makes sense since I'd already started pulling the ribs apart) the ribs didn't look as good the time and weren't as tender but if anything they were less than room temperature, colder than the first try. Exasperated I waived down the server again and asked here to take them off the bill. About that time someone from the kitchen came over and told her he found that whatever was supposed to warm the meat up was unplugged. I didn't care to go for a third try. The chili Mac was a different. More Mac than chili and very greasy. At least it was hot. I wouldn't recommend it because I never got to eat. read more

I ordered the Dirty Bird as the waitress said it was the kitchen's favorite item on the menu. I was not disappointed! It was a smoked turkey sandwich with pimento cheese, jalapeños, bacon, and onion. The turkey was lean and juicy while the pimento cheese helped cool the spiciness of the jalapeños. I chose the mac n cheese for the side dish, which was a great decision. If you're into BBQ and bourbon - ie you're a dude or a good southern woman (yes, I'm generalizing), then this place is for you! Passing through town on a college-hunting trip and my son and I stumbled upon this gem. Rule #1 of road trips is that we don't eat at a national chain, we gotta eat local. Fire up the Yelp machine and it recommended this place to us. Very nice atmosphere, no frills and pretty simple. You can smell the BBQ the minute you open the doors and it hits you like a mouth-watering truck. Awesome menu with prices that aren't too bad at all. We both had sandwiches; I had the "Dirty Bird" (a collection of smoked turkey, pimento cheese, hot bbq sauce, jalapeño bacon, and all kinds of goodness. My son had a massive pulled pork sandwich, bbq Mac and cheese, and cornbread. The cornbread wasn't special but the Mac n cheese and his sandwich were really, really good. And oh yeah - the bourbon. I didn't look at the bar too much, but they had a significant selection of quality bourbons and whiskeys, and I had an awesome black walnut Old Fashioned - never had one before but they use walnut butters vice orange bitters. The service was outstanding as well - very fast and the servers were incredibly kind, friendly, and gracious. As a southern man myself, I love bbq and this place "smoked it" (pun intended!). It was good BBQ for the northeast. Found out about Limestone a few years ago from the billboard on 95 and finally had the chance to stop in. The staff were friendly and quick (the restaurant was almost empty which I'm sure sped things up). We had pulled pork, brisket and fries along with a lemonade. The fries were great, had good flavor and were cooked just right. The brisket was good and tender with great bark. It didn't have the normal smoke rings that I'm used to, but it was still good. The pulled pork was also good. Nothing jumped off the menu, but for Wilmington, it's as I expected. I don't drink, so I assume that the whiskey is a big draw, but beyond that, it felt like it was lacking the charm of a local bbq spot. The billboard set a high expectation but the space felt like an under decorated corporate version of a Mission BBQ (one is less than a mile away). I'll give it 4 stars, but they have to be a little more unique to get that 5th star. read more
