It's was an underwhelming experience , food 3/10, service 2/10 didn't even get a hello or how are you, ambiance 0/10 the ceiling is covered in dust, counters were dirty, and very little seemed to be organized. its 1pm, they don't close till 4pm, and are out of almost all their food. extremely limited pastries, only have 3 versions of sandwiches. i wanted to order a veggie wrap and they tell me they're out of all the wraps! the veggie wrap is just hummus, lettuce and avocado. they could easily make that in the kitchen but wont. service is not the best. completely ignored me when i decided i wanted to order a pastry since they're all out of food. we decided to walk out after that. i just don't understand how you are open for three more hours and are already out of food! and won't make any!!! read more

On my way back from some errands I decided to swing by Marion on my way home and check out Uncle Jon's. After pulling in the parking lot I realized I've been here before years ago. I was just looking for a caffeinated pick me up and was asking about their flavor of the day but the staff informed me that was for hot coffee only. So I chose a large iced latte. The good news is a large is a whopping 32 oz. bad news is it's well over $6! Taste was nice and smooth and made for an enjoyable drink. Inside seems to have quite a bit of space perfect for working, studying or meeting friends. If I come by again I would probably choose a different drink option or at least a smaller size. read more

This place is gone so far downhill! It was filthy, the tables weren't clean and the place stank of stale food and coffee. Service was terrible. The servers squished 3 sandwiches into one small brown bag. The sandwiches weren't wrapped properly, so they fell apart n the bag. Nothing was labeled so we couldn't tell which sandwich was which. When I ask what the sizes for drinks were, I got barked at a bunch of numbers of ounces, - like I have a running gage of ounce sizes in my head! The server was flippant and dismissive. We have been Uncle Jon's fans since it opened. This year the yummy pastries have clearly declined. My favorite, cranberry scones, are dry and tasteless. I bought a box of muffins for my kids and for the first time ever they were half eaten and thrown away. The coffee is still delicious, but I really miss your once excellent pastries!!! read more

Man, what a cool place! I stopped in here the other day for a cherry yogurt danish and an iced mocha. They have pleasant, friendly staff and your standard coffee house decor. This place has really gone to the dogs. Six workers wandering around aimlessly, not prepping food or assisting customers. Several of them appeared to be sick and one had long nails, which I know are a HUGE no-no in good service because of sanitation concerns. 20 minute wait while they "lost" (read: just didn't fill) our orders, which resulted in them running out of the item I actually ordered and was then offered a crappy replacement. Food was subpar, and my bagel with cream cheese tasted like they'd used a peanut butter-covered knife to spread the cream cheese on it. I stopped in here a few times for breakfast while visiting the area to grab some coffee and a bagel. The folks inside were so nice and friendly, plus made the coffee exactly how you wanted it. There was a good assortment of beverages and pastries and it was all reasonably priced. They also had great markings on the floor to indicate where to stand and where the line goes. I give it a 4 star, but really it deserves a 5. The prices are the only thing holding me back. I learned about this place from a friend, and while sitting in the parking lot waiting for her I realized this is a popular place. People go in and out all day long. They have a medium size menu, coffees, teas, smoothies... today I tried the red ice tea, which I thought was raspberry but ended up being blueberry. I'm not used to "drinking blueberries" but it was a good taste. Their ice chai I would bathe in, it's delicious. Besides drinks they have plenty of tasty treats. Today I had strawberry-rubarb pie and it made my tastebuds have a frenzy. Amazing! They have very very sweet carot cake I split with a friend once before and other cookies and treats. They also have paninis that are supposedly great and chicken salad (which i've always had on a sandwich) but there's comes on a bed of lettuce, which I loved. I'd say it's a great place to go, but today I had a slice of pie and a medium ice tea for $9.50 and I thought that was rather pricey, but they do have free wifi. read more

5 stars for the awesome cold AC, which was so comfy on a hot summer aft. The setting is really chic and modern. That's where it ends. The young counter clerk has no clue on the brand of chai or the coffee source. No Kombucha in the case. Generic place with a disappointing a coffee vibe. Marion needs a legit coffee spot! A staple eatery/cafe in the tri-town. I always come here when I come home. I absolutely love their chai-tea lattes (I cannot find another cafe that makes them like this!). I also tend to favor the chocolate chip muffins, because that was a treat I would get as a child going to school on the morning (on special occasions of course). I must say, that the donuts are to die for (the old fashioned and fluffy donuts are hard to find elsewhere) - and the peanut butter cookies are amazing! They have lunch selections as well, but I grew up coming here when the selection was only breakfast items... So... old habits die hard I guess. Uncle johns has the charm of a chic downtown coffee shop however located in the little town of Marion. The coffee is exactly what you could ask of coffee; good, hot, strong and Fast. They have some specialty drinks on the board but I stick with dirty chai or an iced latte. The food is good but if you are here on the weekend do not resist the donuts. They are from Ma's donuts in New Bedford and are TO DIE for! The bagels come from NY bagel in Dartmouth and they are also a must try. They are real NY bagels made the right way. Used to be a staple for us. It has really gone down hill. Today, the staff got one drink order wrong twice. There was no hot decaf coffee so they offered only iced. The toasted bagel we ordered sat on the counter while the staff person made other drinks before I asked her to put the butter on it. She said she was going to do it after making drinks. I visited Uncle John's Coffee for the first time this morning and boy was I impressed! First of all, I arrived before a big lunch rush, which only confirms that eating this bagel was fate. I got a plain bagel toasted with butter and a medium hazelnut iced coffee. Upon first glance, I was a little concerned about the toastiness level of the bagel, however, the ratio of crunch to softness -combined with the perfect amount of butter- made my eating experience unreal. I appreciated how I was able to add my own cream and sugar to the iced coffee, which was strong and nutty without an overpowering hazelnut aftertaste nor a watery flavor. Iced coffee (when it is not cold brew) can be very difficult to make this perfect, but Uncle John has mastered it! read more

I really want to like this place... but I just don't. I've been here several times, hoping each visit is better. First I will say that the prices are really good and the drinks are a good size- but I never actually like my drink. It's always quite dirty inside, chairs everywhere and trash on the floor.. it's not an inviting place honestly. And it's confusing because the staff always seemed very overwhelmed and annoyed when taking your order, and they don't give you the food or drinks directly to you, so I had my drinks and then was looking for my food and it was by a different staff member. I hope this place changes and does a bit of upgrading- as said I really want to like this place especially being the only coffee shop in town! read more

I really enjoyed going to Uncle John's when visiting my daughter at school, so much that we bought their coffee mug to remind us of the wonderful local coffee shop. Unfortunately the past two visits have been awful, so much I don't know if I want to come here again. The most recent, I ordered a blueberry scone and tea, waited a long time until my tea came then eventually had to go and ask for my scone. From when I ordered to when I asked they sold out of the last couple of scones. I was offered a cranberry scone instead, I said no thank you, was asked if I wanted anything else. I reluctantly said I'd take a blueberry muffin. The barista then put the cranberry scone in a bag and said there you go. I said I didn't want that and she said that's the only scone left. Great coffee and excellent quiche and scones - best place in town for a quick morning bite and far superior to the Dunkin Donuts down the street. My only complaint is that they use a panini press to toast everything, which flattens the bagels and makes them hard and dense - I've solved this by never getting anything toasted, but wish they would splurge and get a cheap toaster to properly toast their bagels/bread. read more
