I was in Wareham and in need of a breakfast spot. Yelp sent me to Riverside Cafe. There were five of us and we got the toasty window table. You order your food at the counter and a very nice server brings it to your table. There's an extensive menu of some really interesting and trendy choices, including a specials board showcasing gingerbread waffles and cranberry almond French toast. My friends were light eaters and enjoyed mugs of tea with homemade muffins. I ordered the French toast and it was spectacular! Delicious breakfast! Came in on a VERY busy Sunday morning but managed to get seated pretty quickly. The ordering/seating system is a bit confusing but it ended up working out okay for us. I went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The food was very good but the service was not. You start by standing at the counter and telling a person what you want to drink and then they hand you your drink in a paper cup and point you to a table but you also have to order your meal while you are standing at the counter holding your hot coffee in a paper cup. When our food was ready a person brought it to us who wasn't our waitress. As a matter of fact, the waitress never came to the table until it was time for the tip. The guy who brought the food came back to see if we wanted a refill on our coffee. The food was served on paper plates. It cost $75 for three of us to have breakfast including tip. That's a lot of money to order at a counter, eat on paper goods and have to tip a waitress who didn't actually do anything. read more

First of all any good reviews this place get has to be friends and family because I just went here and had an all around terrible experience. My wife got the florentine omelet which legit must have had half of an egg in the omelet . The amount of cheese was unreal. It was basically cheese spinach and mushrooms with barely no egg. I got the country friend steak with biscuits , gravy home fries and 2 eggs. Again the egg situation. Seemed like 1 small egg and a bunch of milk or something to try and make it seem like it was more. The texture was weird had minimal egg flavor and tons of salt. The home fries were inedible with A LOT of salt on it the biscuit was salty and over cooked the country fried steak itself tasted good but the gravy was very gelatinous. The waitress came up and asked if I wanted a box because the majority of the food was on the plate still I said no I didn't eat it because it was inedible with a ton of salt. What was her response, she gave me a dirty look and said ok grabbed the plate and walked away. Came back a few minutes later with the bill. Didn't offer to remake the food so I can eat nor removed from the bill. $40 breakfast meal for 2 just for my wife to leave half her food and mean leave 2/3 of my meal. Such an awful first experience. I understand issues can happen with the food but the service was so bad and lack to remake it put me in such a bad mood and just ended up leaving to go to Dunkin' Donuts to grab a breakfast sandwich which cost me even more money. read more

There was lively chatter from all of the customers--just a nice hum of happy people--and we were greeted immediately at the counter by Chuck, who offered us coffee and a table, and explained how the ordering works (you order there at the counter). A table by the window opened up so he cleared that one for us and our food arrived shortly after. My husband had the meatlover omelette with a side of grits--he's still raving about it 6 hours later. I had the Asiago veggie melt sandwich with a side of home fries. The fries were the best home fries I've ever had--so crispy and tasty. The sandwich was huge and I had to bring half of it home with me. It was delicious. Absolutely amazing! Riverside Cafe is a small and homey breakfast/brunch spot with great service and food made with love. The service was great from beginning to end, with attention to detail and refilling coffee as needed. I could tell the locals came here a lot and people knew each other by name. Customers are treated like family! The food was well portioned and didn't require any additional seasoning. My farmer's omelette had real chunks of ham, and the potatoes were tender and yummy. The home fries were perfectly crispy and retained the fresh potato flavor. Their coffee was well rounded and not bitter, just right. New England coffee with free refills and they even offer you a cup to go! Drinks are served in mugs like what you might find in your cabinet at home, which gives a nice homey feel unlike the typical generic mugs in most restaurants. I am entirely in love with Riverside Cafe. Since moving to town I have fallen head over heels for this adorable little cafe. The absolute best omelette I have ever had (I get the Green Pig, but my husband has tried the Avocado and Florentine and loves them both). The sweet bites are equally as incredible (seriously the best cinnamon roll I've ever had). Even the coffee is better than other nearby breakfast places. The cherry on top is the incredibly warm and welcoming service. No matter how busy they are you will be greeted with love and kindness. What more could you ask for?! read more
