What a great little shoppe! My husband and I stopped in during our trip to Green Bay. I saw Uncle Mikes on Yelp, my go to for all things to do. I can tell you, we were not disappointed. The staff are so incredible, very welcoming and all around good people. I am sure we had more questions than their usual customer, but we are curious. One of the gals helped us from start to finish. She recommend multiple samples, advising us of her favorites and the most popular. The samples were AWESOME I didn't personally love them all but there were a few i was a total fan of! Probably the most samples I've ever seen a shoppe put out for customers. Mind you, everything looked extremely fresh. My main goal was to purchase a cheese cake however they were all out... I settled on a cronut, a chocolate slice of cake (not exactly sure which one) and the cheesecake topped cupcake. Everything was incredible, i have no complaints. read more

There is no better Kringle than from Uncle Mikes. I haven't strayed away from the sea salt Carmel Kringle, it never disappoints!

You know how when someone advertises something as 'best ever' or 'world famous' you internally temper your expectations? Uncle Mike's kringle meets 'best ever' expectations. All of the regularly available flavors (wasn't there when anything seasonal was on offer) are amazing. I can usually take or leave this sort of pastry (and really most pastry, tbh), but the balance between ingredients, the wonderful texture of their baked kringle dough, and the amazing flavors...oh, the flavors! The sea salt caramel pecan is my absolute favorite. It's probably top five in terms of the best baked goods I've ever eaten. Seriously, it's that good. Wisconsin isn't exactly known for its pecans, but this is a small case where local ingredients don't have to be everything. The blueberry cheese, strawberry cheese, turtle, and caramel apple are almost as exceptional as the SSCP...ALMOST, I said. Kringles can be purchased in halves. As wholes, they freeze really well. We wrap them in plastic before freezing in the pizza-box-like packaging, but it would also be easy to use storage bags and maybe vacuum sealers. I wouldn't keep them frozen this way for more than a month or so, but within that sort of timeframe, they can be thawed and eaten without any ill effects on flavor or texture. There are several locations of Uncle Mikes in the Green Bay Area, and I would guess they're fairly similar, though I've only visited the one in De Pere personally. Young staff (for the most part), cheerful and helpful, if the De Pere staff is any example. As long as their kringle is available, though, I'd say that any spot is well worth a stop when you're in the area, either for a quick bite or to take home a kringle (or two!) for later. read more

The Kringle is seriously amazing. Growing up in Milwaukee - everyone knows the Kenosha/Racine area Kringle places which I thought, until now were the best. Sorry to say, Uncle Mikes Bake Shoppe is by far the best. Couple side notes: the shoppe was a little intimidating. there was a random line around the store that I just assumed we were supposed to be in to get what we wanted, but I couldn't see what they had until I was right up at the counter. Like someone else mentioned, I felt super rushed and like I needed to decide right away. I didn't even get to take advantage of all the samples (actually any samples) because I felt so rushed. I think a number system would be more helpful, so people could roam around and try samples and then order once their number was called. As we were leaving, I noticed the line wasn't wrapped around the storefront, people were just roaming - so I was totally confused as to what the system is here but I can say, whatever it is, the staff should be a little more patient. Back to the delicious food. . . we got a half cheese and a half raspberry kringle. Seriously. So. Good. Also, the apple cinnamon, cranberry, and spicy cheese breads. Yelpers. . DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT THE SPICY CHEESE BREAD! It's soooo good! In short, this place is so good, I totally see myself driving from Milwaukee to Green Bay just to get desserts here! read more

Their homemade bread and homemade butter are awesome. Every Christmas I must get their frosted sugar cookies. They are cute and flavorful. They are on the expensive side, but I just love them. Service can be hit or miss. Sometimes I get great service, sometimes I stand for a while before being asked if they can help me. This is my second update, I'm writing this because I have been stunned by their kringles again. Our company was holding an event so we ordered 4 different kringles, my favorite is still the CHEESE KRINGLE. The cheese kringle is to die for, the flavor is not complicated, it is not too sweet and it melts in your mouth. I would remember the taste for the rest of my life. The aroma of those kringles were flying around our offices for the whole day. It was tempting. But yeah, aside from your service, Uncle Mike's Bake Shoppe really does a great job. The whole grain bread even smells like kringle which gives me a better feeling when eating it. Be prepared. As soon as you open the door and step in, you're going to hit in the face with the amazing smells of baked goods. Uncle Mike's has a reputation for it's kringle (which you're a fool if you've never tried it). They also have a wide selection of cookies, cakes, and pies. If you're indecisive, there are plenty of samples to try...actually that might make things harder. It's a pretty small space, so be patient if there are other people. Food is good. Service is HORRIBLE. I went there a little after 5am on a weekday morning of a holiday and there were about 3 other customers waiting at the bakery as the workers were still putting donuts on the shelves. One customer had been there before me and asked one of the employees (she was wearing a beanie) if she could help her because she had been waiting quite a while and the employee WENT OFF on the customer and she started to cry and say that they were doing their best. She made the customer out to be the bad guy. I left right away. I can't deal with that much crazy at 5am. I also previously placed an order specifying that I was going to be picking it up at 5am (I said this twice and asked if it would be a problem) and when I came in to pick it up at 5am, they told me it wasn't even baked yet and they had that I requested it at 5pm. read more

I first tried Kringle at a well-known bakery in "Kringle capital" Racine, WI. It was kind of dense, greasy and drowning in too-sweet confectioners' glaze, but it was something new to offer coworkers and family, so I bought several and over the course of two days they were consumed. Years later I did the same with Kringle from Uncle Mike's, but those were devoured in minutes. Uncle Mike's has won "Best Kringle" awards and they deserve them. You can't go wrong with with any flavor, but my personal favorite is the raspberry. They make their own raspberry filling and it really captures that fresh fruit flavor. Croissants with fresh strawberries, cronuts and gluten-free cupcakes are also excellent. Breads, cakes and cookies are offered, but pale in comparison to the other items mentioned. I feel their crowded DePere shop has better customer service, so am giving this location a rare 5 stars. read more

We moved to De Pere a little over a year ago. Someone had brought in a blueberry Kringle to my husband's work for a get together. It was delicious! I kept thinking about it and finally broke down and made the decision to check Uncle Mike's out. So glad/mad that we did! We ordered a couple of custard filled donuts and a cherry Kringle. They were very generous with the filling and the custard was not overly sweet and delicious! Of course the Kringle was the star! Cherries were sweet yet slightly tart, and the perfect balance of flavor and the pastry was soft and tender. There was a bogo on the bread at the counter, so we thought why stop now?! We added a loaf of cinnamon raisin and a dill bread. We were not disappointed! Since that first "field trip" we physically have to limit ourselves from going there lol. (Thus the "mad" comment) Whenever we go out of town to visit friends and family, we do pick up a couple of Kringles to take with us as our contribution to the table. (We may pick up a few other items while we're there ‍) Everyone loves them! Actually, my husband recently went down to North Carolina. He took a couple Kringles down with him. One of the ladies that he use to work with was VERY excited, because she is originally from this area and the Kringle made her feel like she was back home! The store reminds me of a country store. This place is truly a gem! Incredible pastries, fresh breads, donuts, cookies, coffee and, of course, terrific kringles! They have a variety of different flavored kringles and they are huge. Cherry pastries i bought were the best- by far- i have ever tasted! And a wide variety of those as well.... the servers are very friendly and offer excellent advise on all these delicious items. I have been searching North East Wisconsin for a calorie worthy donut for years since relocating here. I was giving up hope. Then a coworker told me I had to try Uncle Mikes. I was a little nervous after so many disappointments at other bakeries. I typically find huge donuts that have no flavor. Uncle Mikes donuts were huge, some monstrous. But they were amazing!!! Light, full of flavor, even the basic cinnamon glaze twist was yummy. I am so glad I found them but also glad they are a 30 minute drive. I have no complaints about the baked goods. Everything in the store is great. However, the employees are downright rude. I had 2 different employees treat me poorly at my last visit, and every time I have come in has been an underwhelming customer service experience. At best they don't smile. At worst I have had them roll their eyes at me when I told them I wasn't ready yet. If you hate your job that much, quit. By taking it out on the customer you are only hurting the business. I don't know about you uncle mike... The employee uniforms are absolutely ridiculous. Those annoying uniforms are the last thing I want to see in the morning. The store has no organization. Everyone kind of walked in and stood in front of the counter and waited to be randomly selected by an employee. The donuts were nothing to write home (San Diego) about. I've had much better. I buy dozens of their donuts to bring to meetings. Everyone loves them and they are always surprised by how heavy a box of a dozen donuts can be! People come for the "famous" Kringle which is definitely very good. But if you miss the Boston creme cronut you are robbing yourself. If I have a crew to give pastries too, I'll get a kringle (half a cheese kringle and half cherry). But if it's just two of us any of the cronuts are world beaters. If you have "liked" Uncle Mike's and not had a cronut you will up your star rating. Uncle Mike's has guest-worthy buns for burgers and dogs, and a stack of breads that are really good. We used to go to Great Harvest on George for great bread but lately we get it from Uncle Mike and everybody seems to like everything better. Did I mention the wall-O-samples? You can have a piece of every kringle and cronut from the sample plates. I only do that when I'm getting donuts for a morning meeting because if I sample more than one item I am already full. Get your butt down to Uncle Mike's for your next box of office donuts and get those fresh early morning samples.
