We needed a place for breakfast. The diner is in a truck stop just off Rt 40 (Phillips 66 gas). It's a little run down but very clean. They serve breakfast all day. I had 2 eggs over medium with home fries, rye toast and bacon on the well done side plus toast. Everything was cooked perfectly! Husband had an omelet and quickly ate it all. Coffee cups were never empty. It's not "fast" food but it does give you time to look around at ALL the coffee mugs as the try to make the Guinness Book of Records for most mugs. read more

So we went to Nashville for the IndyCar race (our second time) and we always try new places to eat. My friend said to check out Uncle Petes and when I did, I saw that it was a truck stop. So we went and yes, it's a truck stop with a restaurant that has coffee cups hanging all over the place along with military photos. The waitress was very friendly and I asked if the owner was a veteran and she said, "yes, my grandfather." I too am a veteran so I love to support veteran businesses. There was five of us, I ordered the chicken fried steak with a side piece of fried catfish. The food was out of site. I couldn't believe how great this food was at a truck stop. I mean it was really good. If we go back next year, we'll go here again. And we'll be bring coffee cups to add to their collection. read more

This is a place that I hope will be here for years to come. It's unique, and comfortable with its small town feel. The customers ahead of me were greeted by their names. When you walk in, it's seat yourself. There wasn't a sign but I just followed the couple ahead of me and took their lead. The food was great especially the catfish and biscuits. I'm not a big fan of country gravy and usually top my biscuit with jelly so I didn't really try it. The catfish with Louisiana hot sauce, a little tarter and thrown on half a biscuit was perfection. It was lively on a Friday morning, and I imagine most folks come back on a regular basis. Prices were very fair for a diner or a truck stop. There isn't a ton of truck parking in Nashville proper, so this is a really nice stop just around the corner from Georgia pacific and right off 40. If you are doing a 34 here, you aren't too far away in an Uber into downtown Nashville if that was something you wanted to try. There's a really modern quick trip across the street that most drivers would probably appreciate. Great place to park for the night, just make sure you grab breakfast in the morning. Uncle Pete's is a truck stop/traditional diner right off the Sparta Pike I-40 exit in Lebanon. Pete has had it for many years and while it seems the store portion may have been sold to another family, the restaurant is still owned and operated by the same people that have made it what it is. A traditional southern diner style experience with courteous staff and great breakfasts. There is a strong sense of pride for our country and especially its veterans on display here. The value for what you get seems to beat out Cracker Barrel and other larger chain restaurants. You don't see too many places like this anymore unfortunately. We perused a couple other options and decided if we were gonna have to wait we might as well wait for some good food at our favorite truck stop diner. We immediately seat ourselves and this place always has a good home vibe. Immediately welcomed by smiling faces and someone to take our drink order. After we got our drinks though, others who walked in were politely told that they were short staffed and it could be a 45 minute wait for food. People were disgruntled and left. If you are traveling through or live in the area, this restaurant is a must stop. We stopped for breakfast on the way to Tennessee. We love a family owned place and they don't disappoint. Connected to a gas station so it may look like you should pass by, but you should stop. The food is homemade. Served hot and the staff is so friendly. Lots of seating and a favorite of truckers. Have passed this establishment several times and decided to try it for breakfast. The outside looks like an older convenient store/ truck stop. The morning we went was pretty busy but we were seated quickly with no wait. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Lots to look at with celebrities pictures and coffee mugs everywhere. The food was good and priced reasonably. I recommend the bacon as it is crispy and has the hickory smoked flavor. But everything was good. Old school all the way Looks like it hasn't been remodeled since about mid-1980s lol but that's all good it's got its own little quaint charm still. No longer 24 hours like back in the day open daily till the early evening hours still has a steady clientele of locals not just truck drivers Basically this is a review for the whole thing someone has a really created the page for the store but it's a small little convenience store, bathroom, showers, the cafe still has lots of great home cooking on the menu. daily specials Coffee cups in the thousands still. Basically Pete day when someone would give him a coffee cup from their company or wherever when Pete got to it he would drink a cup of coffee and hang it up. He still does in fact he's adding on now to the shelving where the coffee cup racks are. I came in hungry wanted a good old-fashioned breakfast sat down got some coffee ordered up a country breakfast two eggs soft scrambled, sausage patties, and I went with the biscuits and gravy instead of toast. Food was really good I had no complaints. Still a great little place for some good home cooking it's bypass by manyb because right up the road at the next few exits in Lebanon are all your big chains. Parking can be a little bit tight too for a big rigs because there's a lot of drop trailers that people pay to park their stuff in spaces now they still have trailer washouts if you got to go pick up some food product down the road no truck washes just washouts. There is now if you need bathroom at night time a quick trip across the street that just recently opened and a few other things nearby when they shut down for the night. But there is something to be said for getting what you expect if you're going to order a chicken fried steak in Tennessee, be prepared to get something other than a 3 pound round steak beat into submission, dee fried, and covered with gravy. You might get a cube steak instead. In this particular place, you're here mostly for the atmosphere. The folksy waitress, the not-quite-right cook, and the regulars--whose conversation alone is worth the price of admission. When the the group size is too big for the "House" (Waffle House), this is THE place to go. Restaurant is attached to a gas station, and is in the Guinness Book of World records (you'll know why when you get there ). The owner is the friendliest and is known to sometimes come and sit with you all and share an abbreviated version of his life story - that alone would be worth the trip. Admittedly, it is not a five-star steak house, but for home made flavor and atmosphere, it deserves a high rating. It is a truck stop right off exit 239 of Interstate 40 in Lebanon. Locals and travelers alike frequent the place. If you are driving through on a long road trip, stop here. It is almost a destination stop. Most of this review will be of the atmosphere and culture, and then I will tell you about the great food. Uncle Pete was a Medivac chopper pilot in Vietnam, and this place has been around for many, many years. Judging from the appearance similarities of the staff, I venture to guess it is a long time family affair. The place has a great feel of American pride from the flag and eagle statue to the box of retired USA flags and to the signs. A white board also has a subtle statement of faith and the peace it brings. A few tables over from my seat was a group of older men who were regulars and the wait staff knew them and teased as they solved the problems of the world. Thousands, I'm sure, of coffee mugs decorate the upper walls. They have been collecting for 27 years, if I recall the story correctly. Uncle Pete is still accepting donations from patrons if he thinks yours is unique. Military themed mugs have a special section in the back part of the dining room. Autographed headshots of celebrities are mounted in different places. You can find Dolly Parton's, country music stars and even a Playboy playmate. Next to the cash register is a small souvenir cabinet with prized collectibles. In the main part of the convenience store, they have some cute, unique souvenirs as well. As I mentioned earlier, the food is home-made tasting. I got the chili burger and the 1/2 pound of beef and toppings was wonderful. You get to choose cheese and other toppings. My wife is a French Fry aficionado and she would love these. Thick krinkle cut fries were perfect with a soft inside and almost crispy shell. Advertisements on the chalk board enticed me to try a slice of pie and cup of coffee. The pie was very good and when I asked if it were made on premises, they said that unfortunately, they do not do that any more. The pie is local and almost home made. Leaving with a smile on my face, I enjoyed looking around the parking lot. Experienced over the road truckers were chatting next to their rigs, obviously in the know of a great local stop. A car full of luggage and travelers filled their gas tank just a short distance from locals loading up to head back to the house after their ritual Sunday lunch. This place is on my list to frequent any time I am away from my Murfreesboro home and happen in the neighborhood. read more
