When the parking lot is shared with places like Uncle's Chicken, Viet Chubby Boy, Upscale, Guieb's Cafe, you know there's gonna be ONO grinds, so good luck on finding parking! The chicken here is made FRESH to order and because there were six of us, it look a bit long, but well worth the wait! The chicken itself was good and definitely a cheaper alternative to bb.q Chicken. I'd also come back for their crispy chicken sandwiches too. The best part though was catching a glimpse of Uncle behind the counter watching us enjoying our food; his face beaming with pride and joy!

Their chicken skewers are amazing. Do yourself a favor and order 2 of it. Tried out the uncles wrap as well and very happy! Crispy and fresh. Gonna come back for more (: Kind service provided, lots of indoor seating available if you want.

The spicy whole fried chicken looked bigger in the pictures. It's as long as a kitchen scissor. It can be shared if you're the sharing type. Can feed 2 people or 1 very hungry person. The size and taste for the price of $16.49 is a great deal. The spicy is actually spicy so I recommend getting the regular if you can't handle the heat. This whole fried chicken has bones so when you tear/bite into it be aware. They also have popcorn chicken and that is bone free. Service is quick and prompt. Don't want to wait? Call ahead and pick it up.

Coming back to this chicken place, as the first time we had a good experience! Quiet simple chicken restaurant run by a couple, she out front & him in the kitchen. Ordered the 6 piece original fried chicken wings & drumsticks, came with can mayo corn & two scoops of white rice with furikake on top. An order of fried onion rings & a Diet Coke 12 oz can. Asked for ice & drinking water & both can in nice clear plastic, disposable cups. Food was great, fried chicken hot, onion rings, fried well, asked for an got ranch & ketchup packets. Total about $24. Ranch dressing cost .50 extra. They package up all the food in a paper shopping bag, so you can either take out or eat in ! Like their eatery & the nice couple that run it!

It being off my beaten path, I wasn't aware of Uncle's Chicken until someone posted a photo of their fried whole chicken in a Facebook group. This was something different. Today I had something to take care of in the Kalihi area, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to stop by Uncle's Chicken. It was easy to find, among the array of small eating and other establishments all sharing the same parking lot, next to the Post Office. I had the place all to myself when I entered. The gentleman behind the counter helped me to place my order for the Crispy Fried Whole Chicken. He said it would take 15 minutes, then went into the kitchen. A short while later, a lady came out and stood at the counter. She helped a customer who came in after me. There were children at one of the tables, quietly entertaining themselves. I assumed they belonged to the couple. Before I knew it, the woman said something and brought a tall bag containing the chicken over to where I was sitting. I made my way home with the bag of hot food. My wife had prepared something else for lunch by then (another new recipe), so we had that first. Later we finally got around to tasting the chicken. The chicken was crispy on the outside, of course, but the meat inside was tender and moist. And it definitely wasn't bland - some would consider it "spicy" or even "hot." I found the flavor interesting and nice. https://www.facebook.com/HawaiiWorldLEN/posts/pfbid02s6cXgC7LwPkNbRkcNBPSH74Dmz88vsN6MqD7kTdE5Qj8vspEH5fkFGVuKzDnkK1Jl

Ordered fruit teas and an uji matcha latte. The uji matcha latte tasted like coconut and I reallllllly did not like it. Couldn't drink more than a few sips before tossing. Topical fruit teas were decent, I don't like having seeds in my teas but it seems to be a common factor for tea places to put seeds in. Small family owned establishment with kids, but nice people.

I'm surprised this place hasn't gone viral. This is one of those businesses that I wouldn't be surprised to see on a food influencer's TikTok page. The chicken was filling, crispy and delicious and didn't give us that heavy greasy -ick feeling that a lot of fried food can give you. The chicken wrap was so good, kind of reminded me of a better version of McDonald's snack wrap. The chicken sandwich was also perfect, light and crispy. They give you a great serving of waffle fries that are hot and crispy. We also got strawberry mango smoothies which were so refreshing and flavorful. I'm so happy to have found a fried chicken place that doesn't make me feel sick after. Can't wait to come back!

If you're in the mood for made to order fresh fried chicken sandwiches and boba then this is the place to go in Kalihi! Super crispy fried chicken! If you have a sweet tooth craving then you can also get a boba to go after eating your fried chicken sandwich.

Uncle's Chicken can be missed because it's along side a row of restaurants next to Diners on North King Street in Kalihi. After returning from Korea (which is not on yelp, so I couldn't post or check-in to yelp while I was there), I am hunting to find chicken like how restaurants in korea make it. They say Korea has better chicken than the fried chicken than here, and I now know why. The closest that I can compare to is Uncle's Chicken. Although it is about $1.60 for one wing, you will not disappoint. The chicken is so juicy inside and crispy outside with their own seasoning that it makes it so delicious! It came with their own special dipping sauce, but their original chicken alone suffices. Although a bit expensive, would I get chicken here again? Yes, definitely, and will try their other types of chicken. They also sell milk teas and boba drinks, which is a plus. I ordered the jasmine green milk tea, and the boba to my surprise are lighter, so since I couldn't drink it all, I left it in the fridge until the next day, and it did not turn hard, so I got to enjoy it a day after as well. Cashier was very nice, but did not understand me when I asked about the different types of boba drinks. Too bad i missed any any coupons or specials other yelpers mentioned previously. Lots of parking since they have their own parking lot.

After doing our shopping today my husband said we go try this chicken place next to the kapalama post office. It's uncle chicken. Came home with the box of 10 wings. We ordered the original wings came in the box sauce to dip the chicken wings. I said it's good but I could taste the sweetness and it was a little spicy. But I could handle the heat. Maybe the next time I'll try the chicken plate like a quarter chicken with rice, corn. Try them if you in the kalihi area or by diners drive inn, guieb Cafe and viet cubbie food.

Stumbled across this place by pure accident, as we were in the parking lot to pick up our take-out order from Au's Garden, and the words "fried chicken and boba" caught our eye! My son and I had to check this place out! We tried a box of original chicken wings and a strawberry/mango slush. Both were made to order, both were amazing! My sons really liked the slush - I can see us coming here just to get the slushes. The fried chicken wings were piping hot when we got them - super moist and crispy. It's a family-run business - the kids were hanging out in the front when we first walked in (it was a holiday). They offer a few different styles of fried chicken - we'll have to come back to try more items from the menu.

Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii... After reading Andy's review, I wanted to try Uncle's Chicken - especially when I stopped by and saw the December 2022 promotion for two Chicken Leg Quarters for a dollar off the regular price! Haha! Located at the Kapalama Shopping Plaza between Viet Chubby Boy and Han Yang, Uncle's Chicken shares the same parking lot with Sakana Grill, Au's Garden, Kikuya, and Diner's. It's crowded at times... I ordered the Asian Chicken Wrap and the Chicken Leg Quarters special - takeout. When I got home, I was so excited, but remembered to take photos. The two containers of dipping spices and sauce were appreciated, but not used because the chicken was spicy for me. Both the Asian Chicken and Chicken Leg Quarters were hurting my mouth! The flavors in the wrap were good and the chicken was tender and moist! The chicken skin of the leg quarters was crisp! I think other people would enjoy this chicken more than I did. The cashier was really nice - she brought my takeout package to me when it was ready! I sat at a table for about ten minutes while the chicken was being freshly fried!

Be sure to call ahead, it usually takes ~30 min per order if you call. Takeout only. Service is very polite. Parking is tough because of the area but there are a few spots out front, would generally recommend calling ahead so parking is less stressful. Their menu was a little confusing to me so here is some explanation: K pop chicken- boneless chicken pieces K chicken wings- flats and drumettes (the two parts of a larger chicken wing) K chicken tenders- boneless tenders only K crispy chicken- full wings, thighs, and breast pieces They offer each of these items as a plate lunch too, with a smaller portion of chicken that comes with rice and salad. I personally like the K chicken wings for the variety and higher meat to skin ratio but my husband really likes the K chicken wings. The skin is shatteringly crispy and flavorful and the meat is juicy. Their honey shoyu sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and salty. You can also request the sauce on the side. I've also had the fried rice which was decent and generously portioned. We once had a complimentary house salad given to us which was unexpected kindness. Overall they do a great job serving up a delicious craveable food that keeps us coming back!

They actually cut in half 5 pieces of the Chicken Backs and each 1/2 counted as a piece of overcooked chicken jerky! I also got a 1/3 of a breast section with bones and not even a 1/2 of a thigh. That totals my 10 pieces. More bones and excess crispy flour then consumable meat. NOBODY gives a Chicken back (or 1/2 a back)! Not Popeyes, not KFC or Zippy's who will remain my Favorite because I will only get ripped off the 1st time, never again. Additionally, they make you buy the sauce, the reason is due to no seasoning on the over floured bread...but it IS Crispy! The Chicken tenders were overcooked and REALLY Chewy around the edges. Just a LOT of breaded Crispy with no flavor, what "Chef" doesn't even use salt? Really, if you're going to risk testing this food, PAY for some sauce! I hope the Owner reads this and realizes that ripping people off by selling broken pieces that most Chef's throw away because they have so little meat on them, isn't going to keep him in business. The profit margin may be up while folks are trying it, spending their hard earn $$$'s, yet not coming back will be the ultimate demise of this business as many other have come and gone doing the exact same thing, not putting themselves in he patron's position. Ask yourself this: When was the last time you saw a bowl of whole chicken pieces and immediately grabbed one that was back bone chopped in half?

I uploaded this picture into chat gpt with the business explanation of the pinking in poultry and according to AI, "Pinking" can happen in cooked poultry -- but what you're showing in the photo does not look like harmless pinking. Here's the difference in plain language: Harmless "pinking" (still fully cooked) * Happens from smoking, high heat, or certain proteins. * The meat is fully opaque, firm, and cooked through. * Only the outer edge or near the bone looks pinkish. What your picture shows * The meat looks translucent, soft, and raw, especially near the joint. * There are dark, bloodlike areas around the bone. * The texture looks undercooked, not just color-changed from chemical reactions. Even with pinking, cooked chicken never looks glossy or raw in the center the way yours does. I decided not to go back to the counter because there was a language barrier and I felt the woman wasn't listening to me in the first place anyway. Threw pretty much all the food away and left hungry and down $20.

I'm not sure when this place changed owners, but I've been to this little shopping plaza before and…read moregot boba one time, but I think it's a different owner now. The parking lot was pretty empty on a weekday afternoon and there was only one person working. I really appreciated that they offered some snacks as well as their pretty extensive drink menu. There are so many boba places I would frequent more often if they also offered snacks. Uni offers cup noodle, freshly make bubble waffles, takoyaki and curry with rice! They even have combos that will save you a couple dollars if you get a milk tea with the food. Genius. I got the takoyaki and mixed fruit tea combo for $13. It doesn't sound like a deal, but I end up paying way more and wasting time going to two different stores when I want food and tea. The takoyaki was piping hot, piled with toppings and served in a little box that was really convenient for take out. The fruit tea was one of the better fruit teas I've had. I like that it had chunks of oranges and watermelon. The service was a little slow because there was only one worker, but she was really nice and trying her best. I think I'll be back if I'm in the area. They have cute looking desserts too! And plenty of places to sit with free wifi!
