Located in Kalihi along with a bunch of other great places is this hole in the wall. Every other place here is pretty good so had to give them a try. Nice and clean. You know it's a Asian family run place when their kids are sitting at one of the tables doing some homework (at least I hope it was) The guy ordering was super friendly and patiently explained some stuff to me Ordered the original spicy chicken plate and went to make it fresh. Delivered to my table was a plate with 6 pcs fried wings, corn and furikake rice. Not bad for $14 now days! Chicken had a nice crunch and was mildly spicy. Flavor was good and chicken was moist. Corn seemed like it was homemade cream corn with crisp kernels and some light cream sauce. I thought chicken was great and priced right. I will come back for lunch for sure!

Was craving fried chicken... they delivered!! The spicy wings were tasty and crispy. (Just wasn't spicy) we also go the creole wings... flavorful but not as tasty as the crispy ones. Got the yogurt drink and the passion pineapple juice. The yogurt drink was creamy and slightly tart!! And the juice was too sweet... had to water it down with a bottle of water. They brought out the drinks first and the chicken was made to order. Fast service. There were a couple of tables and it was warm inside. But cozy.

Kinda pricey for the chicken entrees / plates but always consistently tasty ! Owners are always very pleasant & friendly ! Order ahead because everything is always cooked to order, which is fantastic !

When the parking lot is shared with places like Uncle's Chicken, Viet Chubby Boy, Upscale, Guieb's Cafe, you know there's gonna be ONO grinds, so good luck on finding parking! The chicken here is made FRESH to order and because there were six of us, it look a bit long, but well worth the wait! The chicken itself was good and definitely a cheaper alternative to bb.q Chicken. I'd also come back for their crispy chicken sandwiches too. The best part though was catching a glimpse of Uncle behind the counter watching us enjoying our food; his face beaming with pride and joy!

Their chicken skewers are amazing. Do yourself a favor and order 2 of it. Tried out the uncles wrap as well and very happy! Crispy and fresh. Gonna come back for more (: Kind service provided, lots of indoor seating available if you want.

The spicy whole fried chicken looked bigger in the pictures. It's as long as a kitchen scissor. It can be shared if you're the sharing type. Can feed 2 people or 1 very hungry person. The size and taste for the price of $16.49 is a great deal. The spicy is actually spicy so I recommend getting the regular if you can't handle the heat. This whole fried chicken has bones so when you tear/bite into it be aware. They also have popcorn chicken and that is bone free. Service is quick and prompt. Don't want to wait? Call ahead and pick it up.

Coming back to this chicken place, as the first time we had a good experience! Quiet simple chicken restaurant run by a couple, she out front & him in the kitchen. Ordered the 6 piece original fried chicken wings & drumsticks, came with can mayo corn & two scoops of white rice with furikake on top. An order of fried onion rings & a Diet Coke 12 oz can. Asked for ice & drinking water & both can in nice clear plastic, disposable cups. Food was great, fried chicken hot, onion rings, fried well, asked for an got ranch & ketchup packets. Total about $24. Ranch dressing cost .50 extra. They package up all the food in a paper shopping bag, so you can either take out or eat in ! Like their eatery & the nice couple that run it!

It being off my beaten path, I wasn't aware of Uncle's Chicken until someone posted a photo of their fried whole chicken in a Facebook group. This was something different. Today I had something to take care of in the Kalihi area, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to stop by Uncle's Chicken. It was easy to find, among the array of small eating and other establishments all sharing the same parking lot, next to the Post Office. I had the place all to myself when I entered. The gentleman behind the counter helped me to place my order for the Crispy Fried Whole Chicken. He said it would take 15 minutes, then went into the kitchen. A short while later, a lady came out and stood at the counter. She helped a customer who came in after me. There were children at one of the tables, quietly entertaining themselves. I assumed they belonged to the couple. Before I knew it, the woman said something and brought a tall bag containing the chicken over to where I was sitting. I made my way home with the bag of hot food. My wife had prepared something else for lunch by then (another new recipe), so we had that first. Later we finally got around to tasting the chicken. The chicken was crispy on the outside, of course, but the meat inside was tender and moist. And it definitely wasn't bland - some would consider it "spicy" or even "hot." I found the flavor interesting and nice. https://www.facebook.com/HawaiiWorldLEN/posts/pfbid02s6cXgC7LwPkNbRkcNBPSH74Dmz88vsN6MqD7kTdE5Qj8vspEH5fkFGVuKzDnkK1Jl

Ordered fruit teas and an uji matcha latte. The uji matcha latte tasted like coconut and I reallllllly did not like it. Couldn't drink more than a few sips before tossing. Topical fruit teas were decent, I don't like having seeds in my teas but it seems to be a common factor for tea places to put seeds in. Small family owned establishment with kids, but nice people.

I'm surprised this place hasn't gone viral. This is one of those businesses that I wouldn't be surprised to see on a food influencer's TikTok page. The chicken was filling, crispy and delicious and didn't give us that heavy greasy -ick feeling that a lot of fried food can give you. The chicken wrap was so good, kind of reminded me of a better version of McDonald's snack wrap. The chicken sandwich was also perfect, light and crispy. They give you a great serving of waffle fries that are hot and crispy. We also got strawberry mango smoothies which were so refreshing and flavorful. I'm so happy to have found a fried chicken place that doesn't make me feel sick after. Can't wait to come back!

If you're in the mood for made to order fresh fried chicken sandwiches and boba then this is the place to go in Kalihi! Super crispy fried chicken! If you have a sweet tooth craving then you can also get a boba to go after eating your fried chicken sandwich.

Uncle's Chicken can be missed because it's along side a row of restaurants next to Diners on North King Street in Kalihi. After returning from Korea (which is not on yelp, so I couldn't post or check-in to yelp while I was there), I am hunting to find chicken like how restaurants in korea make it. They say Korea has better chicken than the fried chicken than here, and I now know why. The closest that I can compare to is Uncle's Chicken. Although it is about $1.60 for one wing, you will not disappoint. The chicken is so juicy inside and crispy outside with their own seasoning that it makes it so delicious! It came with their own special dipping sauce, but their original chicken alone suffices. Although a bit expensive, would I get chicken here again? Yes, definitely, and will try their other types of chicken. They also sell milk teas and boba drinks, which is a plus. I ordered the jasmine green milk tea, and the boba to my surprise are lighter, so since I couldn't drink it all, I left it in the fridge until the next day, and it did not turn hard, so I got to enjoy it a day after as well. Cashier was very nice, but did not understand me when I asked about the different types of boba drinks. Too bad i missed any any coupons or specials other yelpers mentioned previously. Lots of parking since they have their own parking lot.

I uploaded this picture into chat gpt with the business explanation of the pinking in poultry and according to AI, "Pinking" can happen in cooked poultry -- but what you're showing in the photo does not look like harmless pinking. Here's the difference in plain language: Harmless "pinking" (still fully cooked) * Happens from smoking, high heat, or certain proteins. * The meat is fully opaque, firm, and cooked through. * Only the outer edge or near the bone looks pinkish. What your picture shows * The meat looks translucent, soft, and raw, especially near the joint. * There are dark, bloodlike areas around the bone. * The texture looks undercooked, not just color-changed from chemical reactions. Even with pinking, cooked chicken never looks glossy or raw in the center the way yours does. I decided not to go back to the counter because there was a language barrier and I felt the woman wasn't listening to me in the first place anyway. Threw pretty much all the food away and left hungry and down $20.

There was no line when arriving early afternoon. The glare on the window made it very difficult for me to even see if anyone was at the counter or not (they were!). I ordered the half regular fried chicken to try the overall quality of the meat and breading. However, the chicken was not as good as I expected. The breading was nice, definitely extra crispy texture (which is my preference). The meat was well cooked and juicy inside. Unfortunately, the breast pieces were dry and the thigh had a 'stale' smell (not sure was from the chicken or perhaps the breading?) ‍ Also, I am pretty sure one of our pieces was the neck -- which had no meat and was all bone and breading. Ambiance is okay -- know that there's no seating and purely takeout orders. I stood on the side of the building (in the shade) and opened the box to eat while hot. Given that there are other spots for fried chicken in the area, it is unlikely that I will return.

The beef in the brisket soup was a bit lean (great if you're not looking for the fatty meat cuts), but I am one who loves pork belly, so just a tan bit lean.
