Requested roast half duck for takeout...it was chopped up when ordered. It came with a sauce which was not needed. Juicy and flavorful, I ate it all in one sitting. A value at $22. Hours are 1030a till 730p daily. Lots of parking stalls...but lots of Market City customers usually. I was there off-peak hours but it was kinda busy. Located in the Market City Shopping Center in Kaimuki, it is a welcoming place in the heart of Honolulu, as one need not go to Chinatown where parking is a problem of undesirable vagrants roaming the streets. I generally like their dim sum, as they are consistently good. Their char siu baos are huge with adequate char siu fillings. Love their huge pork hash, as well, as they are juicy and tasty. Their mochi rice is deliciously made with generous amounts of ground pork, dried shrimp, lup cheong, mushrooms. Hot entrees are popular as 1, 2, or 3 item combos with starch. They're a hit or miss, as the popular ones sell out quickly, like the dim sum. Many times, unsold bbq meats from the day before are repurposed to a stir fry with veggies. It's a nice convenient place for a lunch or dinner pickup. Staff is generally efficient and friendly. As soon as you walk up to the counter, staff will immediately ask you what they can get you, but sometimes I think they don't realize it takes a little time to see what they have first before deciding. But I guess they're just trying to keep the line moving. There always seem to be customers in the tiny restaurant at all hours during the day, which is a good sign. The interior of Duck Lee is mainly display cases of its bbq meats, hot entrees, and dim sum. There are a couple of tables should you decide to eat there, but most orders are takeout, as you're in and out within minutes. Generally clean, there is somewhat some clutter of boxes and paper goods. But for the most part, the interior serves its purpose. Duck Lee is situated near Café Kaila, with hours of operation of daily from 10:30a to 7:30p. Free parking is available within the shopping complex, with parking may be hard to find during peak times due to various restaurants of the shopping center. Can't believe I haven't visited this business before! Located in Market City (Kaimuki), Duck Lee provides quick and tasty Chinese food! The woman who helped my boyfriend and me was absolutely sweet. She was working hard with a smile on her face, and all the patience in the world. When I first walked in, she was unloading giant boxes. As soon as she saw me, she dropped her work to tend to me. My boyfriend and I sampled pork hash, shrimp dumpling, steamed manapua and gau gee. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced! I will be back to check out their other specials. Is it perfect, no... a few flaws of different dishes here and there, but what makes up for everything for their reasonable prices and mega portions (much like local classic favorite Masa's Massive Plate Lunch). Your PCP won't like your LDL going up and blood pressure too. Their duck better be good because it's part of their name, doesn't disappoint, juicy, oily, good flavor on the skin. Wished the skin was a tad crispier. Noodles is perfect, not too salty or over flavored or oily like Panda Express. As a bonus, nice wok fried flavor without being too burnt. Hau gao (shrimp dumplings) and pork hash is really good, a tad better than Sing Chong, plus don't have to deal with the long line and parking in Chinatown. Big generous portions, not too much filling. Shoyu chicken offers big pieces, didn't they ban steroids? Nice and juicy. The fried chicken was a bit disappointing, skin was too soggy and meat too dry. Half moon was a little different but in a good way. Don't like other places add too much peanuts. Manapua wasn't as good as UChoice Inn, but decent. I got the 1/2 duck plate with lo mein and shrimp dumplings. My fiancé ordered the orange chicken and short ribs with lo mein. They give huge portions for a very affordable price. This is truly a gem of a find in Honolulu. Not too far from Waikiki, but definitely not walking distance. We loved the food here. Most of the locals come for carryout. There were only a few tables to dine in and it's order your food and they box in containers and you eat at one of the 2 open tables. We got the roast pork, roast duck, soy sauce chicken, and BBQ pork. The portions were super generous and the food was authentic Cantonese style bbq I'm used. We got to the restaurant later in the afternoon and most of the dim sum items were sold out. We were lucky enough to try the shui mai which were huge and bursting with umami goodness. This is not a full out review because I primarily came to only get Shumai. Been waiting to try this place for couple years, and made a quick stop right after the neighboring Foodland market . One of the best shumai I've had? Yes absolutely. Dumpling size was huge but packed densely and with great flavor. It's a small place, kind and friendly service. We came in late morning not too busy. It wasn't the most speedy service, but the quality made it worth the wait. If I am able to return to Hawaii, I'll want to try other items for sure to be more thorough with an additional updated review. But the shumai definitely was great for me. I've had many many different chinese custard pies from almost every dim sum place on Oahu and some taste too eggy. Some have chewy or dry crust. But this place... the crust and custard is PERFECT. I swear, I've been trying my usual duck place and they're always sold out. I just want some duck soup with noodles and Choy sum, man. Duck Lee to the rescue! It's not fancy, it's not the best duck in the world, but it is super dang delicious to me. It's fatty, that fat is juicy with every bite, and the spices are so good you'll think you don't even need the duck sauce, BUT try it without and then with the duck sauce. My boyfriend asked what the duck sauce was, and it's the duck drippings. Agh, it's so good. Throw some extra hot mustard with shoyu on the noodles in broth, oh man. Childhood. Last night I was feeling lazy so I told my mom we're going to Door Dash it tonight. I told her lets try ordering from Duck Lee since we've never eaten from here before and she was like okay. We decided to share the 2-meat choice over rice. We went with the Roast Port and Char Siu. OMG we both loved it so much! The skin on the roast pork was crunchy and it had the right amount of saltiness to it. It was meaty with the right amount of fat. Just writing about it is making my mouth watery. The char siu also was nicely done. Sweet and savory. Very meaty and juicy. One bite with a scoop of rice and it was just heavenly. There was a lot of food and with me and mom sharing we still had left overs. What we got is really enough for two meals for the both of us so it's really economical. Normally we always keep char siu and/or roast pork in the freezer for using in quick stir fries or for fried rice. We normally go to chinatown to pick-up from this one place that my mom likes, however my mom was like we should start getting our char siu and roast pork from here as it was better than the place she liked in chinatown. After dinner my mom was scrolling through my phone looking for what we should try next time lol. She was sold on this place. Duck Lee Express in Market City. On the way to the Airport for a food fix and takeout plate for the airplane. To eat now got Won Ton Min. The soup was strongly flavored, filled with pork won ton, lots of char sui, broccoli and noodles. Funny I just noticed no green onions. The bowl was full and I had trouble finishing it. A minor point was that both the broccoli and noodles were slightly over cooked. My plate lunch was Chow Fun and 2 selections, beef broccoli and sweet and sour roasted duck. Being near the end of the day they cleared out the beef broccoli into my take out container. This restaurant is for the food. There are only 3 tables and most of the business is takeout. The sell whole ducks and chicken, roasted pork, ribs and char sold by the pound. Dim sum is big with many local favorites. The back half of the restaurant is a work area and then a separate kitchen. Service was quick and friendly. I definitely will return here. read more

This place is located in Market City Shopping Center on the T-Mobile side. This is one of the places I go to get some roast pork and crispy duck. The roast pork is really juicy and the skin is crispy just the way I like it. The prices here is a good bang for your buck compared to other places around for lesser quality. Because of Covid-19, they are still doing take out and even though the state is relaxing it's protocols, they still require people to wear masks and only 3 people inside at a time which I'm totally fine with. Sometimes you are at a loss for words after experiencing something that's shockingly awful. You just sit there. Thinking and thinking: "What?" "How?" "What did I just eat?" "Where am I?" "Who are you?" "Ugh, what's happening here?" Duck Lee. I know Duck Lee. This place is located in the Market City Shopping Center, next to Cloud Nine Cafe and Nabeya Maido. It's been in this shopping center for many, many years. I remember when they were just a tiny, tiny place at the corner, next to what used to be Fun Factory. I haven't been here in many, many years. I've had good experiences before with their roast duck and dim sum items as one of the dim sum cooks was from Empress in Chinatown. Not sure if he's still there. On this occasion, my grandma suddenly wanted wonton soup, it was a little late, and the only Chinese place nearby that was quick and easy was Duck Lee. My grandma told me the wontons have to be authentic. It must have shrimp! My original idea was Anytime Cafe, but she was more drawn to Duck Lee. Oh, what a mistake. It's takeout only at Duck Lee with a limit of three customers inside. This place is your typical Chinese fast food style restaurant where you order a starch with 1-3 or more choices. It also offers roast meats (pei pa roast duck is a unique one that you don't see outside of Chinatown), dim sum, and fried rice and noodle dishes and noodle soups. The Wonton Soup came with 12 abnormally, gigantic sized wontons. You'll gain a pound per wonton. The filling was pork, pork fat, and more pork fat. This was so heavy, greasy, oily, rich, and kind of gross. The taste was this bizarre sweet flavor that was very prominent throughout and nothing else. It also came with tough Choy sum and dried out char siu. The broth was even more weird. It wasn't even close to the traditional. The taste was as if they combined all the braising and roasting liquids from their meats and then added a bunch of MSG. The multiple flavorings and spices were too much. I had to drink three full cups of water consecutively shortly after eating this. I got a combo plate with Chow Fun, Pan Fried Egg and Chives with Shrimp, and Bean Curd Rolls. This was acceptable. The Chow Fun was soft and had nice flavor. It was just super oily and needed more vegetables. The Egg and Chives were okay. It was a little dry and salty. The Bean Curd Rolls were huge too. Again, the filling was a majority pork with that sweet taste but more tame. Overall, I can easily drop this down to one star, but the customer service was good. Very friendly, patient, and helpful. The food was just awful and extremely disappointing. The only positive is they give generous portions. Not sure what has happened here, but it hasn't been for the better. read more
