Someone brought these to the the office today to thank us for our hard work . All these ice creams were cookie ice cream sandwiches (ice cream sandwiched with soft cookies). There were a variety of ice cream sandwiches with different flavors/cookies to choose from. I couldn't decide and wish I could have one of each. Eventually, I settled with the snickerdoodle with vanilla ice cream with colorful sprinkles around (I forgot to take a picture). I must say, the ice cream tasted really good, creamy, and with pure milk (not watered down milk). Cookies tasted like fresh/home made. Beats Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie sandwiches any day in my books. My coworker who work next to me had the cookies and cream (pictured) and he thought it was delicious! There was salted caramel, coffee flavor, and chocolate that my other coworkers got and said they were awesome! I will definitely try out other cookie sandwiches from this business. Thumbs up! Saw these at the Lawson stores in Honolulu! Tried two flavors: dark chocolate cookie with mint chocolate chip ice cream, and their sugar cookie with lilikoi ice cream. Both were really good--cookies were soft and chewy, and ice creams were delicious. My favorite was the lilikoi! I wish I could just buy a whole gallon of the lilikoi ice cream--it's that good! read more

I found Uncle's Ice cream on Ford Island the first time. They look so good I had to try it. I really wanted to try Salted Caramel but they looked very melted so I decided on Funky Monkey. The cookies are very good. It can get messy cuz it melts fast. The second time around, I found their products at Nex comissary. Now I know the comissary is gonna be the place for me to get Uncle's. What a refreshing way to cool down during the heat wave! Never knew this ice cream stand existed until I saw it at Mililani High School First Fridays. Owners are very helpful and courteous in customer service. Inquired what are their best selling items. Top three best selling ice cream sandwiches are sea salt caramel swirl, north shore coffee, and funky monkey. I have a tendency to go for exotic ice cream flavors. Ordered their special matcha swirl. Be prepared to pay $5 for one, open your mouth wide for thickest, humongous ice cream sandwich! Worth every cent. Yummy, flavorful matcha sandwiched between two sugar chocolate cookies. What I loved is the ice cream takes a long time to melt and the cookies hold their structure while taking a bite. Definitely want to try all of their flavors as it looks soooo scrumptious and appealing to ice cream lovers! I really wish they had their own ice cream shop. I called and they only could give me locations that carried their products. I ended up at some shady run-down convenience store on the North Shore. I saw cracked-out homeless people eyeing us out when we got out of the car. we went inside, got our ice cream, quickly got back into the car and drove off. you can also get Uncle's ice cream at Whole Foods, which is where I prefer to go anyway. read more

Tasting this ice cream sandwich is the most sensational experience, I would say! I wanted to try Uncle Paul's masterpieces nearby Waikiki, Ala Moana, and Kakaako, so I sent a message to Uncle Paul to ask where I would be able to buy them. He was so sweet to message me back so quickly and told me the store that had a large variety of flavors. The store is my neighbor!! How lucky I am!! I finally went to the store and got the Honey Mac Nut one... First bite, WOW, it was like a heaven. Perfect combination of sweetness, tenderness, creaminess, richness, and nice accent of mac nuts in my mouth! The sandwich is pretty big but I could eat 2 of them at once... I was unimpressed both times I tried Uncle's. Both the ice cream and cookies don't have good flavor or texture. The cookies are really hard. I'm not sure why they're so popular. There are much better ice cream sandwiches available at Safeway from Oregon and California companies. read more

I love your ice cream sandwich! Ur one of my top top ice cream sandwiches that I have ever tasted! Ice cream wise, only two ice cream makes my heart grow! You guys' ice cream and from salt and straw in Portland. I discovered your ice cream when I was sitting in a patio chair in Waimea valley and they serve your ice cream! I was blown away! I follow uncle's IG and never seemed to find myself anywhere near his sandwiches. Then finally it happened...he was at the Ko'olina children's festival. Toward the end of our eventful day, I decided I wanted a real meal and not dessert. But decided that I didn't know when I would have another chance to try the deliciousness that is a homemade Ice cream sandwich. So it happened. My daughter snagged the last strawberry and I love mac nut ice cream and decided on the honey mac nut sandwich. The sandwiches were $5 each. They were the perfect size and great ratio of cookie and ice cream. My daughter finished her whole sandwich which was a surprise to me. She's 8 and eats as little as a toddler. I can't review the flavor of the strawberry because like I said, she ate it all but the honey mac nut was great. Not super nutty. My other half is not a fan of any type of nut but took a couple bites of my sandwich without spitting out nut pieces! Haha. I hope to try the many other flavors they have. Can't wait! read more

This is a review for the ice cream sandwiches more than their location. The sandwich, while pricy, is huge and comes in a variety of unique flavors. Having tried the double chocolate and hearing feedback on some of the other flavors, I am a fan of their product. The ice cream is rich and the cookies are just the right size though you gotta be a fan of sugar as there are big crystals of the stuff embedded throughout the cookies. read more

I was introduced to Uncle's thru my coworkers who picked up from the commissary for us to try. Omg! The best!!! And I don't like ice cream much, and ice cream sandwiches for that matter. My favorite is the North Shore coffee. I also love the vanilla with sprinkles with snickerdoodle cookies. Bank of Hawaii provided the sandwiches for the employees for the annual holiday tree lighting ceremony. I got to try 4 flavors and all were DELICIOUS! A favorite from the start! The best ice cream sandwiches I've ever had. My go-to is the cookies n' cream, my husband loves peanut butter one. We get them as often as we can from the Waimea farmer's market. The cookies are soft and chewie and they do not fall apart. The ice cream is delicious and perfect consistency. Yum! Had this while on staycation at Turtle Bay and my friends and I were in heaven!! My flavor was a sweet and slightly tangy Lilikoi ice cream with sugar cookie sandwich, which was a nice soft batch style cookie. These ice cream sandwiches were so delicious and I can't wait to try more flavors!!! Uncle, please don't mass produce because they are perfect just the way they are!!! I need to venture into Kailua and Kalihi to find them...since I live in Kaneohe. It seems like there are lots of places to get them on the north shore since the business is located there. I ordered ice cream sandwiches for my granddaughter's birthday party at Kapiolani Park. Paul delivered them to me in Mililani and even cut them in half for us. We picked up dry ice from Hawaiian Ice and had everything in a foam cooler. WOW! They were delicious! We got Sea Salt Caramel, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Lilikoi. I found these amazing ice cream sandwiches at the Whole Foods on Queen St. Omg!!! I have had many ice cream sandwiches and desserts in my time and the flavors from Uncle's are insanely delicious. I had Chai of the Tiger and the Double Dark Chocolate. The chai of the tiger is subtly spiced chai ice cream with oatmeal cookies. The double dark chocolate is a dark chocolate ganache ice cream (yes, it is as incredible as it sounds) on dark chocolate cookies. They are $6 each but worth every penny! The flavor was just so amazing. They are sold at many locations on Oahu, so find one near you ASAP! A complete listing of retail locations is on their website. I'm so glad I found them but they have ruined me for life on anyone else's ice cream sandwiches, especially when we move from here. read more

History

Established in 2013.

Growing up on O'ahu, 'Uncle' Paul was always fascinated by food and flavors. Our first sammie was created at the time when we were growing organic lettuce for the north shore restaurants, which we also sold at the weekly farmers market. The market went into the evening and folks sold dinner items there, but there really weren't any desserts. Paul's a chef (we used to own a restaurant) and he thought it would be fun to make something, really just because he enjoys it. We thought of ice cream sandwiches because you can eat them one-handed and still have an arm available for shopping. So that's why we got started. Later, when Uncle's got bigger than the lettuce, we couldn't do both any longer. By then we just really loved how much people enjoyed what we were doing. Uncle Paul said "Nobody ever posted a selfie with my lettuce". It was really rewarding, so we took the plunge and committed to it. Today we are an iconic treat sold across Hawai'i and the West Coast USA.

Instead of having that soft, fluffy shaved ice texture you expect in Hawaii, it just turned into a watery mess within seconds. For how expensive it was, the quality really did not match the price at all.

Upon entering, there is a table with an ordering menu that you fill out for the ice cream. There are no cones and no "parlor" for ice cream- only written options. The standard flavors of vanilla, creamy strawberry and chocolate are available as base choices. There were two "special" flavors of the day that was kona mud pie and another unique option. You can check off on the menu PER item how you want your ice cream in regards to toppings, syrups, in a cup or bubble waffle, single scoop or multiple scoops, etc. Hubby ordered a boba tea that you don't need to fill out on the menu sheet. I'm personally not a huge fan of boba, but he enjoyed it. The lime grape boba tea was what he ordered. I told her the music was inappropriate, and she pointed toward two teenagers behind the large freezer and said it was theirs. I could only see one of them at first. I mentioned again that the music was inappropriate, especially with little kids present. She said she was off the clock. I went back to the adult employee and asked if she was the manager, but she said the manager was not there. I approached the teenager and repeated that the music was inappropriate. She responded, in her exact words, that she "didn't give a shit." She said it belonged to the other teen who was still hiding behind the freezer. He eventually came out after changing the music and lowering the volume. I asked for the manager's contact information. The adult employee called him, and he spoke to the teens, who then turned the music off. However, they still refused to provide the manager's contact information. Overall, the adult employee handled the situation as best she could, but the behavior and attitude from the teenage staff were unacceptable for a family establishment.

Wished they wouldn't have prepared the dessert until after our food was ready. Would definitely head back for their plate lunches and to try the sweet lady of waiahole dessert.
