Me and my friends go here at least once a week, usually more. We all have our usuals, and it's our favorite place to go for a little treat. The tea is some of the best on island, and it's very affordable, especially for a gaggle of highschoolers on a budget. I end up paying only a little over six dollars for sixteen ounces of tea with boba and cheese foam, which is amazing in this economy. As far as I know there is only one girl that works here, but she's very quick and always gets orders exactly perfect. Despite not being very talkative, she's friendly in her own way. She never minds if my friends and I move the tables around or loiter for a while and the last time we were in there to celebrate school letting out for summer she offered to take our photo. The ambiance is also really nice, I love the warm lighting and the music playing on the speaker is always great. it's also open until nine, great for a late-night treat. My usual is a vanilla milk tea with boba and cheese foam, I highly reccommend it. read more

not really sure what was wrong with the chick at the front lol. I was there maybe like 10 minutes ago, placed my order and asked for a restroom and in the most disgusting tone I've ever heard she said no. making obnoxious sounds and banging objects around as she was making our drinks lol. genuinely I don't know what her problem was you could visibly and audibly tell she had an attitude. Came here craving a refreshing drink after a day of hiking and spending time at the beach. Ordered 2 assam milk teas with boba ($4.45 each including tax). The boba is pretty chewy and the milk tea has a decent amount of sweetness, but overall it's a pretty standard boba drink. If you're from Southern CA, I'd liken the milk tea here to Quickly or Lollicup. I have very fond memories of Coffee or Tea in the McCully shopping center. The only good boba in Kailua I thought would be this place. So when I had a craving for some boba, I headed to my one and only Coffee or Tea. Ordered the Hazelnut Milk Tea with boba as well as a #4 shave ice which has strawberries, pineapple, condensed milk, boba, and vanilla ice cream. First off, great selecton, super nice guy working the whole place by himself. Both items were made quickly. I knew everything was powder and would be on the sweeter side. Boba was sooooo soft and chewy. The hazelnut milk tea was really good for what it was. Just like how I remembered. The shave ice on the other hand was not as good as I remembered. Tasted like a gummy bear through and through. Ice was nice and fine, but the goopy syrup was way too sweet and was very over powering. I'm just here to talk about the avocado smoothie. First off, I would like to say that I am not an avocado smoothie kind of girl. I prefer my avocados with some lime juice, diced tomato, and onion a little salt and jalapeño for some kick. Yes, that is a guacamole recipe. You get my drift right? Second, I don't like boba. He keeps asking me if I'm thirsty or need a snack which means he's the one who is wanting something. Finally I say " let's go get boba" cause I know that's what he's hinting at and he just wants me to say It first lol. He really loves his avocado smoothies so that's what we get. At first sip, his eyes get wide and tells me I have to try It. I'm like ehh it's sweet avocado and I think that's weird but okay I take a sip. And then I take another, and then I have some boba. 2020 new year new me, who is this girl?! I actually really enjoyed this avocado smoothie. It wasn't too sweet, you can taste the real avocado in there. It wasn't too thick. It was just perfect. And then the boba, I liked the boba too! Perfect chew but not too hard, and not too mushy. It also had some sweetness and flavor unlike others that I've tried that literally taste like chewing plastic. Don't ask me why I know what chewing plastic feels like. Anyways, I just had to share my experience with this place even though It was my first time here and It was a short visit for one avocado smoothie. Great second option for bubble tea in Kailua (much needed in my opinion). Just across the street from whole foods on the corner and next door to Bank of Hawaii. Staff is friendly and bring your drink to you when it's ready (what service!) We ordered a Honeydew Shake with Boba and it was great! I thought it would be very artificial flavored based on the color (little darker than I expected) but it was delicious! Lots of boba so you dont run out before finishing the slush. Nice staff, quick service and clean shop. That's the only reason they got two stars. This might be a better place to get tea if that is what you are looking for. I got my usual, oat milk,latte, and it tasted like coffee with oat milk. A year ago I started making espresso for the wife and myself at home. Until I got the correct process down, mine tasted like coffee, and not the rich smooth taste you get when you pull an espresso shot and get the crema. I'm guessing this place is not run by coffee connoisseur's. I don't necessarily consider myself to be one, but I do believe I know a good espresso when I taste it. There is a little art combined with science to pull an espresso shot correctly. This shop needs to get educated in this subject, or just drop it from the menu. After trying the Coffee or Tea in Honolulu, I was looking forward to having another lilikoi smoothie that I enjoyed so much at their Honolulu store. The Kailua Coffee or Tea store's lilikoi smoothie did not taste the same as the smoothie I had at the Honolulu store off of McCully. The Kailua Coffee and Tea smoothie lilikoi smoothie did not burst with lilikoi flavor as what I experienced at the Honolulu store. It was more diluted out and had faint lilikoi flavors. I've had shave ice with more lilikoi flavor than this smoothie at Kailua. The Kailua Coffee and Tea must not have used as much lilikoi concentrate as the Honolulu store. This makes a HUGE difference in taste. I will give the Kailua store one more try, and update my review if there is a difference in flavor. read more

Stamp card! They have a stamp card.... but it can't be used at the other locations. I always get jasmine milk tea with boba from coffee or tea. I don't go as often because I find the workers at all 4 locations I've been to to be really unfriendly, but their jasmine milk tea is one of my faves. I've even bought the gallon size a few times. This Kailua location has an awkward parking lot, so I won't come during rush hour. Like the other locations, they have snacks for purchase and a little refrigerator display of desserts. The menu is extensive and they offer shave ice in addition to drinks. If only the workers were nicer, I'd be back here more often. read more

Visited 7 January 2021 On the way to Lanikai Beach,  we stopped at Coffee or Tea for refreshments. It was both my friend and I first time there. We pulled into the small parking lot that was shared with several other businesses, parked in a narrow slot, then walked in. Masks are required for entry. When we walked in. There were two other customers ahead of us; one was ordering and another was waiting. (I think 4 is the make customers allowed in at any given time). Once the second person was done ordering, the cashier who doubled as the barista started making both of their orders. After about 5 minutes, another employee, a male, came to the cash register to take our order. He seems a bit annoyed (maybe because we were indecisive or maybe he didn't want to be there? Or maybe I'm misreading his body language?). Anyway, he took my order and as my friend was ordering, I checked in on my Yelp app and received a 10% off coupon to use with a purchase of tea. Initially, my friend stated she was getting tea but since I was distracted checking in, I didn't know what she ordered and asked if I could use the coupon to which he harshly responded, "No! Tea only"! Whatevs! The shop does have some interesting flavours but I was basic and got the mocha frappuccino and my friend got a smoothie with added tapioca pearls. Other items are on sale but we just wanted drinks. Once we got our order and walked out, we noticed that a lined had formed with others waiting to get in. I have driven, walked, or biked past this place a million times and never gone in. I guess I assumed that this place would be overpriced because of its prime location in the middle of Kailua's center. But now I'm sad that I didn't go in sooner. The prices are actually quite reasonable. There's a ton of topping options, including bobba and jellies. You can customize the sweetness of your drink just like at a frou frou bubble tea place. And you can tell that it's authentic because there's flavors like winter melon tea (which by the way my 3 year old and 1.5 year old loved). Don't forget to get the Yelp deal on this page and ask for a frequent customer card to get extra rewards/bonuses. I'll definitely be back! read more

Dessert in Kailua... After lunch, my friends and I weren't ready to go home yet, so I searched for a dessert place with my Yelp app and found Coffee or Tea. Yes...the name of the place is misleading. The business name should include "smoothies, shakes, snacks, shaved ice, boba tea drinks, and more". There's a refrigerated case at the entrance - full of Tiramisu, coffee jello, cheesecake, custard pudding, chocolate cake, etc. Everything looked so good! If I was by myself, I'd get one of each! However, I was with the Birthday Girl and her sister, so I had to behave... We shared the #6 shaved ice which included boba, Rainbow gel, strawberry, Mango, and plums. It was colorful and refreshing! The tart preserved plums are the Birthday Girl's favorite, so it worked out well! Our other group member is from Canada, so I had to explain what the little black balls were...boba...tapioca pearls. I told them that next time, we should get some herbal jelly, CV coconut gel, and custard pudding as toppings! Yum! This was an educational experience for my friends. Hit the spot for a craving for a mocha shake but it was really sweet. Even without the ice cream in the shake, I could only drink about half of it. I did request half sweet but they don't alter the sweetness level here. The coffee jello topping was perfect though. Service was good. read more

We love going to this location when we have a sweet tooth! I recommend their Passionfruit Black Tea with Boba. The Boba is soooo soft and yummy. The best Boba I've tasted! There are seeds from the passionfruit so just be aware of that. I've already tried their shave ice #4 which is great as well. It is on the very sweet side since the syrup they use is pretty thick too. I normally get chocolate ice cream on top instead of vanilla the ice is super fine as well which makes it easy to eat! My fiance normally gets the #8 shave ice and requests both scoops of ice cream to be vanilla (not much of a chocolate person). The red shave ice which is Cherry i believe, he said tastes a bit like medicine, so he normally asks the man to omit that flavor and he enjoys it like that. Customer service is great in the evening which is normally the times we go (around 7pm). Parking is normally easier and its not as busy. Definitely a must try place! They even have extra desserts and goodies that you can look to purchase! read more

It was hard to choose one and if we hadn't been staying on the other side of Oahu, I'm sure we would have treated ourselves to this place on a daily basis. So good! By far the best milk tea I've ever had. Milk tea is my guilty pleasure and I make it a point to try as many different places as I can. This is definitely my all time favorite. Their vanilla milk tea is delicious, sweet but not overly sweet that it's hard it put down. Also, their boba is perfectly cooked. Some places have their boba too soft but Coffee or Tea Kailua has a perfectly chewy boba. My boyfriend loves their taro milk tea and sometimes ads ice cream! All of us from 1 Point Tattoo love this new Boba spot! So close & convenient! All the staff here are really sweet and helpful. The prices are all very similar to other boba spots. My go to favorites are the taro smoothie (because they put in fresh!) & jasmine milk tea. Others here like the taro & coconut milk tea (Have to ask for its special ;) ) Other variations of milk teas & even for the one that isn't big on boba gets iced black tea, he says it's really good and refreshing. Loved that you could sample 12 things on the menu. The plum tea jelly reminded me of my childhood in Taiwan. The coffee jelly, coffee ice cream, coffee syrup shaved ice was my fave!
