Ok place in a bind. Passing through the area stopped for a cup of coffee and decided to try a bagel based on other reviews. According to the staff coffee is made before they open. I was there at 7 so the coffee was a couple of hours old. It was a strong and dark Italian roast but not much flavor. Olive oil and rosemary bagel was undercooked and I did not taste either of the flavors. What I did taste was the sweetness of the dough. I ate half and threw the rest out. In summary it's a nice local place with friendly people but don't expect much more than that. read more

Having heard that this is a must stop at some point, we made it a point to stop yesterday. The first unusual thing I noticed is that the person taking your order is also the same one making your beverage. The big thing I noticed is that these young people were doing a lot of chattering between themselves while making the beverages. Yesterday the chatter must have distracted the gentleman enough that he didn't get the beverage order correct. As for the food, it was good.... and correct! While we ate I didn't see anyone walking around wiping down tables after customers left so that's not a good sign.. A decision to return hasn't been made yet. read more

Expectations are funny things. And I think the crux of the matter is that I myself have higher expectations for a coffee house. Which isn't to say that Uncommon Grounds is bad. It's fine. But it's just not for me. I've never had the bagels at this location, but bagels are a morning food, and my visits to this outpost have always been at night. So, I took a keen look around at the sweets, and was hard pressed to find something I thought would be delicious. The red velvet cake was my best hope. It wasn't bad, but it tasted like it had been in the refrigerated case for a while. Sure, it was a mark of good service that the fellow behind the counter offered to take off its acetate band. And even though he pointed me in the direction of the plasticware when I asked for a utensil, when I asked for something a little more substantial, he was able to find a proper metal fork. Huzzah! On a subsequent visit, I decided that maybe dessert wasn't the answer. Maybe the answer was tea. And I was delighted that the woman behind the counter knew a fair bit about the differences in the green teas on the menu. I was less than delighted to learn that a pot of tea was actually a french press full of the stuff. In theory, that may sound charming. But in practice it was less so. Hopefully, at some point, tea pots will be ordered and put into rotation. It sounds like I'm triangulating my way to a pleasant evening at Uncommon Grounds. The staff is certainly pleasant. The place is clean, warm, and welcoming. There is comfortable seating, and it's open reasonably late. While this may not be my kind of coffee place, I do appreciate having it as an evening hang out. But I would absolutely spend more money there, and more time, if the offerings were improved. read more

I had a work meeting with a colleague of mine. She had lunch...I had coffee. Location is really convenient - right off the highway and there's easy parking. Service was quick and there was plenty of seating available...even though it was busy and bustling. My coffee was so good that I didn't need any kind of cream or milk. I usually put a dab of something liquid in it to take off the hot, black coffee "edge". Totally didn't need to. My colleague had avocado toast and a big salad. It looked amazing and she polished all of it off. She thanked me for brining this place to her attention as she had never heard of it. I would absolutely go back again - even if it was just for a cup of coffee. But...that avocado toast looks too good to pass up. read more

Big venue, came in at 10am so it's busy and packed today, a Thursday. Wide open space so if it's full, you'll hear a lot of conversation. Plenty of windows for a lot of natural light. NOTE: the Yelp Map wants you to go to the other shopping center on the other side of the street. That is incorrect, this is on the opposite side. Speaking as a college student, this is always my first spot to come back to whenever I am home for break. And seeing the sheer number of other college students also there during their break, this definitely isn't only my experience. Clearly it's a great place to hang out and catch up over a cup of coffee. The rosemary olive bagel and everything bagel always bring me back time and again. They're really generous with the butter or cream cheese on the bagels which is always appreciated. The $3 day-old bagels help to tide me over for a week when the nostalgia me hits back at school. I also love the art featured in the store. I love that Uncommon supports local artists. It's really refreshing to look at the new pieces every season. read more

Fantastic location, quality food items, decor, clean dining room and customer service like no other! I randomly stopped in here to see what everyone was getting. I viewed many enter and several leave w gourmet beverages and felt left out! I entered the establishment and immediately started the ooooo's and aaaaahhh's. Very open, warm and welcoming establishment. I was immediately greeted by Chris P. requesting my order. As soon as I began to speak, several of his colleagues rushed over to listen and assist. I inquired about latte flavors and was completely knocked off of my feet w the responses from 2 employees. Coconut, vanilla, raspberry, hazelnut, caramel, etc I went all in for the raspberry! Hubby ordered a caramel iced coffee! Jackie assisted Chris w making my latte w the most enthusiasm ever witnessed! Jackie also encouraged me to sample my latte while still present to ensure perfection. I was tastefully pleased and very impressed! The presentation of my raspberry latte was the best ever and had the taste to match! Oh, did I mention it was gluten and gmo free! Sadly, I'm not from this area and will only have limited experiences to share from here but memories such as this one will last a lifetime!!! 9/13/23. Clifton Park location had a condescending and purposely unhelpful cashier. Manager on-duty was useless. Bad customer experience.

So I have a long commute, and I am not a fan of most of my breakfast options that aren't major off-highway detours on the way up to my job. Enter the Clifton Park Uncommon Grounds. It's siren song calls me off the highway at least once a week for this wonderfully cheesy, oily, delicious cheddar bagel. Their coffee is fine. Their service is pretty fast and friendly... but the cheddar parm bagel is what got me from 3 to 4 stars. Note: this place doesn't have the college-area funkiness of other UnCommon Grounds, it's decidedly suburban and strip-mally. I don't care. This is the only one with a cheddar bagel. (Oh BUT the other uncommon ground has whitefish. So toss-up.) read more

We usually come here after grocery shopping. First few visits (covid era) staff were really nice. Fast forward and covid is almost gone (but still there) staff are kinda rude and overworked i guess. Server was short with us, no greeting beyond "next" and was annoyed when asked to have something taken off the sandwich ordered. Other workers can be heard making complaints about something, customers i guess? If you want to set yourself apart from chains like DD, I would recommend having service that is at least as good. Bagels were aight but we got 2 bagels and 3 sandwiches and not one of em was toasted. Friend ordered a egg sausage sandwich and got bacon no ketchup. Pitiful. A bagel with peanut butter is $1.70 and a bagel with pb&j is $3.70 they charged me 2 extra dollars so they could dump some jelly on it and scrape it off and leave the tiny bit that stuck to the bagel. read more

Uncommon Grounds is many things, many good things. In house, fresh, made daily bagels, coffee, teas, soups.. a variety of deserts and danishes. Ordering is still cafeteria style, the menu can be a little overwhelming. Prices are on the high side, but the quality of product is there, so worth it. I've never been overwhelmed by the coffee or soups, but they have the best bagels in Upstate (in my opinion). I wish they were a little better about keeping people distant from one and other.. the ability to place an online order would really be great, too... read more

This is my first negative yelp post. Today I went to the CP location to enjoy a coffee and work for a lil bit. Their fb page boasts being "your office away from home' so I thought I would give it a shot. What an experience. While I was there someone came in to chat with an employee. For about 15 minutes she very loudly yelled profanities. 'F him' and 'F her' and ' Shut the F up' are just a few examples. Not a single employee or manager stopped her. It was beyond obnoxious. To top it off both my coffee and breakfast sandwich were just meh. I would rather work from my own home and drink my Newman's Own any day. read more

Let me start by saying the bagels are great. Customer service on the other hand is horrible. I've never had a store tell me that they couldn't sell me something because there wouldn't be enough for other customers who *may* come later. So you'd rather sacrifice a sale now for one that *may* come later. Enjoy the eye roll that you're going to get if you dare order more than one sandwich. If you want great bagels and great customer service then go to the Albany or Saratoga locations. Avoid Clifton Park at all costs. read more

As a busy college student, I'm often looking for affordable coffee and a chill place to settle in and complete my copious amounts of homework and studying. Uncommon Grounds is definitely a great place for this. (although I do recommend bringing a pair of headphones if you are a quiet studier) I loved my bagel and coffee and I often get a chai latte!! Fantastic service, great attitudes from the staff, and so accommodating! We typically go to Uncommon Grounds in Albany, and they carry different syrup flavors. Upon realizing this and that the didn't have the flavor we requested, they experimented to make a similar flavor latte and let us try it for free! Food was great, coffee was better, but the cashier was extremely rude. We were trying to figure out what we did to offend her, but it turns out she was just hungry. (Her shirt literally stated "I'm hungry."). The barista also forgot to add the tomato to one of our orders, and when we brought back the sandwich, there was an argument. "No, that's the one without the tomato!" She declared. Yes, we know that, but it's not what we ordered. "Oh, well the cashier didn't write that.". This is a 3.5 from me, but there's room for a 4* once I get used to how to they do things. My first time in, I thought it was pretty pricey to have a $5 iced coffee with no frills - they do not add cream and sugar on your behalf, and the menu did not indicate it was cold brew, so I'm unclear why the high price. (I'm used to paying $3 at other places, and having them put my cream and sugar in). However, the bagel sandwich I ordered was next to perfection, which made me forgive (a little) the pricey iced coffee. I ordered the Mediterranean on an everything bagel with bacon, and it was amazing. I did clarify that I wanted the egg scrambled (I traumatized plenty of Panera employees with the difference between scrambled egg and fried egg before they added scrambled to their menu), and was told it was always so, but that egg was definitely fried. Folks, I do not love biting into cooked yolk, uncooked yolk, or any yolk straight up. The only "special" food I ever get is to request that I not experience that, 30 years running. But to be honest, that bagel sandwich was so good, I entirely forgave the fried egg. With enough pesto and avocado, apparently all things are forgiven. Now if we could talk about the price of that iced coffee. read more

Get a bagel but skip the coffee! We were staying at a near by hotel on a recent weekend getaway and it of course rained all day Sunday. So we bummed around and needed a cup of coffee late afternoon. The shop is cute with country decor and a large selection of bagels and pastries greet your eyes. I ordered a chocolate almond coffee and the boyfriend had a red eye. We decided to split a banana nut bagel with honey walnut cream cheese. The bagel was TO DIE FOR. I haven't had such an authentic bagel since NYC. It was huge, with a nice bite to the outside and soft on the inside. The flavor was unreal and the cream cheese was the perfect compliment. I could have ate three of those! The coffee however smelled like a cigar and wasn't consumable without a little sugar and milk. The red eye wasn't rememberable either. read more

Very disappointing experience this morning regarding food and allergen information. The staff at the front was somewhat dismissive regarding the food allergies my son had and kept going back and forth to a "manager" to ask about ingredients. After going back to the manager a couple times for more info I eventually asked to speak with her and was told by him that she was doing other things. So the message I left the store with was that she was too busy to help a customer in the store navigate a food health issue. I went elsewhere this morning. Third bagel never got put into the bag. 3 bagels, 2 wrong, one missing. Tepid coffee. I wish I could say this was the first time that this location got an order wrong, but I'd be lying.
