Despite other orchards/pumpkin patches absolutely price gouging families, Anderson Orchard remains the same and reasonably priced. Hours for September and October: 8am-8pm (or dark) We drove from Noblesville, I was so happy they were still open! Plenty to do for the kids, playground, bounce houses, straw pile, photo ops. They offer U-pick apples & Pumpkins or if you're in a hurry they're ready to grab from the red barn. Pumpkins are super reasonably priced at $.40 a Lb or pie pumpkins for $3. The concession stand is open on Saturday & Sunday. I love the fried biscuits with apple butter & of course you must get the apple cider slushies!! I don't remember seeing it prior, but they had apple cobbler warmed up with ice cream, delicious! I just love this place so much! Don't leave without a bag of apples, Carmel apples, apple cider & get some of those fried biscuits! Highly recommend bringing the whole family.

Kelley was fantastic, sharing her knowledge of sustainable beekeeping and the care that goes into producing pure, organic honey straight from the hive. The farm gift shop was stocked with incredible raw, unprocessed honey, honeycomb, and beeswax products--we left with plenty! We're so excited to come back this summer for the Honey House Tour, Beehive Tour, Forestry Tour, and Queen Special Tour! Getting to work a live beehive with a beekeeper and see the honey extraction process will be unforgettable. If you're looking for the best raw, organic honey in Indiana and a truly unique farm experience, Hunter's Honey Farm is a must-visit!

So many cool things about that experience... 1) I used a chainsaw for the first time and now I want to cut down all the trees! 2) We put something that wouldn't fit in our car in our relatively new truck bed... it was sooooo big! 3) While I was there, I bought several jars of their honey (again)! They have completely embraced the "hot honey" trend and are making some amazing honeys that are perfect for a nice "drizzle" on pizza, a Christmas ham or even as a sweetener in your green beans or spaghetti sauce! Their service is fantastic and you're even able to taste a few before buying! Go see them for gift baskets or to join their "honey (not jelly) of the month club" #iykyk

The wide variety of "things" that are made in Indiana was inspiring. There were spices, popcorn, sausages, soaps, lotions, flowers, distilleries and wineries, so it was quite an eye feast and the best part was that several of them had free samples! I didn't have a lot of time to chat with everyone but a few of them mentioned their availability at local farmer's markets during the summer season so I can find many of them in Fishers or Broad Ripple or Binford which is closer to home on the weekend :-) This was a great new event and it was very successful in my mind as I noticed several of my coworkers toting bags of the things they bought on their way home that night. I ended up with charcuterie sausage and a small bottle of the delicious Hotel Tango's Limoncello liqueur. I would welcome this as an annual event... or even more frequent than that.

The mission of Statehouse Market is "In order to promote healthier eating habits and support Indiana farmers and businesses, the Statehouse Market gives state employees and customers a location that provides fresh, high quality produce and food products. This outlet is also an opportunity to promote locally grown products and produce." The weekly event is a highlight for Statehouse and Indiana Government Center employees and it's not uncommon to see folks come by from other area office buildings. The Statehouse Market took a hiatus during 2020 due to the pandemic, a time when even most Government Center employees were working from home. However, it has returned this year and is slowly building steam again. Today was downright busy. The event includes typically about a dozen food trucks, a handful of veggie type vendors, and other area businesses ranging from the soon to be open downtown location of Rise n' Roll Donuts to Groomsville Popcorn, Oberweis Dairy, Gluten Free Creations, and a host of others. Food trucks have included the likes of: BoxBurger Truck Brozinni Pizzeria Byrne's Grilled Pizza Chef Dan's Southern Comfort Chomp'z Food Truck Da Blue Lagoon Dashboard Diner Delectable Cuisine Catering Der Pretzel Wagen El Venezolano Greiner's Sub Shop J & J A Taste Of Home Catering Johnson's BBQ Shack Las Tortugas Food Truck and Catering Muay Thai Kitchen Nacho Mama's Food Truck Nicey Treat Ooo Weee Chicken Pastabilitiez Pierogi Love Indy Serendipity Mobile Catering Soladine Concessions Street Chef Sweet Valley Ice Cream Tacos Without Borders Taste of The Caribbean The Legendary Kitchen The NY Slice The Twisted Sicilian Wild Boar BBQ and more. You can also occasionally see government agencies with a table, local colleges, and employees can often find various agencies associated with their daily lives such as insurance providers, banks, etc. I will admit that I contemplated lowering the rating a star because accessibility can occasionally be an issue, but for the most part everyone here does really well. The Statehouse Market recently observed its 9th birthday. The only other time it has been interrupted was one year when it had to be moved over toward the Indiana State Museum due to some rehab going on in the Plaza. That was a rough year for wheelchair users and for anyone trying to squeeze in a food truck on a limited lunch schedule. A lot of folks don't know there is a downtown farmer's market - this is one of downtown Indy's best kept secrets and I look forward to it each week. Today, I visited NY Slice and I've definitely appreciated the variety that is maintained from week to week. Employees are notified each week which vendors will be present and it seems to be the one day when folks really get out of their cubicles and offices and get some fresh air and lunch. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend it.

ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITES FOR AMERICAN FOOD NEAR MASS AVE…read more Union 50 came in clutch when my friends and I were looking for a last minute dinner reservation. Called at 6 and got a reservation for 8, for 5 of us on a Saturday night. This is kind of an anomaly for any restaurants off Mass Ave. We were seated right away and started with drinks and apps. We got "Disco Boys" and "I'm too pretty for this" cocktails which were tasty - kudos for the fun cocktail names. Calamari, Artisan, and Charcuterie came shortly after. There's a few different options of cheeses and meats, it's sort of a choose your own adventure situation. All were good, especially the calamari. A lot of restaurants tend to overcook it and the calamari gets rubbery, not the case here. Our entrees came out next and I made sure to try a bite of everyone's LOL. The standout of all the entrees was definitely the "Duck, duck" which was, obviously, duck. The runner up would definitely have to be the chicken cacciatore. Overall, really great ambiance, food, and service. I would highly recommend Union 50 if you're looking for something fancy, but not too fancy. We shared the petit charcuterie, lamb meatballs, kimchi meatloaf, and the duck duck. Everything was amazing, I don't think you can go wrong with what you choose. We finished off with the house made chocolates, which was just the right amount of sweetness to end a wonderful meal. Highly recommend!
