There seems to be a primary focus on localish wines, which is welcome, however I was a bit disappointed to see that there were no offerings from the 2 wineries with tasting rooms on Big Basin Way. I really enjoy going to Uncorked for tasting. (It's a great way to wait for your table at La Fondue or The Basin, both of which are just a short walk down the street.) The staff is exceptionally knowledgable, funny and friendly. They're usually pouring some interesting varietals ranging from local to international labels. Often, they have tastings of limited releases and may even have the winemaker behind the counter if it's a local wine. There aren't many seats at the bar, so if you happen to arrive when there's a group visiting the shop then you might have to squeeze your way in, or wait a few minutes. Never fear though, once you make it to the counter, they will take care of you with fast and friendly service. read more

Uncorked as a varied selection of wines. I prefer the Napa region, but you can buy French and Italian wines also. Uncorked carries champagne and beer as well. The people are friendly and the place has a comfortable ambiance. My wife and I like to go there for a bottle and a flight, and then take the bottle across the street to Da Mario across the street for dinner. If you buy a bottle of wine at Uncorked, they waive the corkage fee at many local retaurants. read more

This was a nice little respite in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. We did the lower end of the 2 tastings for $16.00. Started with Sauvignon Blanc, Firestone Chardonnay [which is probably the best 'cheap' chard I've ever had. Easy to drink and retailing at under $17, out of Santa Barbara], a local Pinot Noir, the Tom Fogarty Skyline, and Kilnker Brick Old Vine Zin from Lodi. We had crackers and chocolate and a leisurely tasting. The lady pouring was really friendly and delightful. Prices were reasonable all-round. Didn't like anything enough to buy - though the Firestone is one I'll look out for to bring to a friend's, and the Fogarty is a faithful winery. read more

I came to Uncorked because the previous owners were nice, hospitable and lived up to the tag-line "Uncorked - fine wines without attitude". Yesterday, I experienced nothing but attitude. The new partner- we'll call him "Craig" was rude, arrogant and didn't talk to us at all. He poured our wine and went to talk to his obnoxious friends - who were loud, boring snobs as well. When he did talk about the wines, he was condescending and did not represent the wineries very well. He poured us a CLIF wine and said - "I don't know how someone can make a candy bar and a wine". FYI, Craig, CLIF makes energy bars not candy bars. We liked the CLIF wine but will definitely buy it somewhere else. The CLIF people should pull their wines from UNCORKED. And Patrick should get rid of Greg - oh, I mean, Craig. read more

The food was $30 a plate for a spare rib which was sitting in mashed potatoes the consistency of cream of wheat in a gravy sauce with two pieces of asparagus. The wait staff were literal dressed like Larry the cable guy. The service was some of the worst and the chef came out after delivering our plates without silverware to ask how the food was ! As if we were going to eat with our hands! The wait staff never once ask about refills on drinks. I paid less at Emeril Lagasse where the food was outstanding and the wait staff at Emeril's were professional and provided superb service! The tables were covered with brown paper like uncut grocery bags and the quality of the food was so poor they should have used plastic silverware which would have been more consistent with the redneck dining experience. So if your ready to UNCORK your wallet, ignore your palate, and get really poor service head to Kewaunee! If the chef had any integrity he would have refunded the cost of the meal and fired the wait staff ! read more

We have been going to Uncorked! since they opened a few years ago. It has been one of our favorite hang-outs in Saratoga. It is a great place to stop in and try new wines before heading to dinner. The pours are generous and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the newest partners are dragging the place down. It has actually reached the point that we will either call ahead or walk by to see who is working. If Patrick is in the shop, we know we are in for a great time. If the new partners are on duty, we take a pass. These people lack the knowledge and passion for wine, and are not suited for this type of business. I have to believe we are not the only people feeling this way and I hate to see the business hurt. Saratoga needs all the energy it can get, and Uncorked! has become one of the anchor businesses over the past few years. Obviously, Patrick cannot be in the shop all day, every day so whoever else in "manning" the store needs to bring the same enthusiasm and friendliness that once was their standard. read more

For the wine connoisseur, the M4 Tasting Room, the Big Basin Tasting room or the Ruthe Roberts Wine Coop are significantly better bets; fortunately all three are only a block away from this avoidable business. Patrick is a patently unfriendly owner (his wines may not have attitude but Patrick sure does). Regardless of his wine selection I cannot recommend patronizing a certified jerk. read more

I've been here about four times. The first time I went, the people working were snooty and rude. I vowed never to go back, but I did because a friend of mine liked the place, and we would stop off after or before a little bit of wine tasting in the area. I do the tastings, but I never really liked the wine they were having that day. I like how they give chocolates and goldfish crackers to have with your wine though. read more

Every time my husband and I go to La Fondue, we say we're going to check this place out. Well, finally on Saturday I did. I was hanging out with my girlfriend in Saratoga after getting pedicures and we decided to come check it out. When we arrived, we were the only people there. We were offered two different flights. One was the basic wines for $16 for 5 tastes or $10 for 3. And the other with the Premium for $20 for 3 tastes. Both my friend and I decided on the $10 for 3. I enjoyed all the wines I tasted, however, she had one that was nearly undrinkable. I liked the guy who was serving wine. He was super friendly and did know quite a bit about wine. Would I come back? Probably not, but that's because it's a little more expensive than I would like. I can go to my favorite winery and get 7 tastings for free. :) I like the concept of wine bars, but I don't think anyone has figured out a good price point yet. read more

I'd passed by uncorked a few times on trips through downtown saratoga it looked really cute and un-intimidating inside. I finally stopped by to buy some champagne for my upcoming birthday party. I haven't a clue about buying wines or champagne so the woman who was working there (an owner I'm assuming) was so helpful she directed me towards an amazing brut rose she told me she always keeps some on hand at her house for parties. Wow, talk about the anti-Vintage! This place reminds me more of what Vintage was first like before it was assimiliated into haute Santana Row culture. The people at Uncorked are friendly and tasting prices seemed fair (a little high if anything). However very generous pours during tastings more than made up the for the pricing. Somewhat small and esoteric collection of wines for sale, but some real diamonds in the rough hidden in the corners. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon to get out of the heat, while killing time before dinner. It was very quiet with one regular couple at the bar. They had a large selection of bottles taking over most of the space, a nice bar, and a couple cute tables by the window. I had a glass of prosecco and my date had a white wine - we really just needed a refresh haha. Then the man (who I'm assuming is an owner of some sort) gave us a bowl of goldfish and I was won. We spent an hour chatting and people watching and it was nice. A patio on the sidewalk with some tables and chairs would have made it 100%. read more

I had a very positive POV about Uncorked up until last month. I have been part of a wine club at Uncorked for over a year. I really enjoyed the wine club that exposed me to many reds I would not have ordinarily tried. In March, I realized that I had not been called for my wine shipment pick up in a few months. My AMEX had expired and assumed that was it. I called AMEX and I had been charged for 3 months of wine without any phone call about it being ready to be picked up. When I called Uncorked to inquire, they said "oh you have 6 bottles to pick up. We dropped the ball, sorry". I guess I have a different perspective on how customers should be treated, but I was really disappointed in the service. I dropped out of the wine club and they probably lost a good and loyal customer. read more

It's never been my experience. They've got a good selection of wine not widely available elsewhere. While they have a few old world wines they understandably focus on the California pallet. You can always rely on the staff at Uncorked to recommend the perfect pairings of wine for a meal. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. It's also a great place to taste wines as they have different pairings (red or white) to try daily at a resonable price and generous portions. The wine club has wines that are not easy to find and interesting with tasting notes that are helpful. There is also a discount on their wines if you join the wine club. My wife and I had dinner this past Friday evening at Bella Saratoga. We decided to stop by Uncorked to purchase a bottle of wine as Bella Saratoga has no corkage fee for wines purchased from Uncorked. When we decided to purchase a less expensive bottle of wine the owner appeared to want nothing to do with us. In fact, he never as much as thanked us for our purchase. Furthermore, while he was ringing-up our purchase, he seemed to be more interested in telling the next customer about a wine he was willing to to pour for him. I worked in customer service in downtown Saratoga for many years and referred people to this shop. I'm sorry I ever did. The "wine shop" appears to be run by a wine snob. I have lived in Saratoga 7 years and one of the best places to open while I have lived here is Uncorked. They have great themed tasting nights, a great variety of wines each night to taste, and the store has great prices on some of the best wines and products available. You feel welcomed by the staff and their wine knowledge is stellar. And it doesn't matter when you drop in, you can be sure and enjoy good wine and most likely--run into some folks you know. I've been to many area wine stores and this one beats them all. Cool music in the background too. Makes a nice night out prior to having a great Saratogan dinner somewhere nearby. read more

Excellent selection of California wines, as well as choices from a few other regions. Tasting menu usually has 3 flights with three 2+ oz pours - from whites to reds to a premium red flight. Patrick, the owner, offers up a unique 'goldfish cracker bowl' to munch on, instead of the standard bar pretzels. Usually on the weekends you can find a nice cheese plate from him, too - often with brie, toscano, manchego, figs and some crackers. A few of the local restaurants also offer free corkage on anything you buy from uncorked - a nice bonus to save some money on your way to dinner. read more

One of the very few places I've been to that doesn't offer a discount on tastings when you purchase a bottle. My boyfriend and I did a tasting each and wound up buying 2 bottles (totalling over $100), and then we were still charged full price for our tastings. A bit ridiculous and poor customer relations if you ask me. On top of that the older gentleman who works there doesn't really provide any description, or any customer service for that matter, of the wines you are tasting (which is half the the reason and fun of wine tasting). He pretty much just pours them and tells you the name, which is provided on the sheet at the table for you. He's usually just siting behind the bar drinking wine himself talking with his friends or regulars. Not impressed at all. read more

I have been to Uncorked to both taste and buy wines and probably sipped at every other wine bar in the South Bay. There seems to be a few dissenting views from Yelpers, but I have consistently found this place terrific. One of the things I really like is that they change their wine tasting flight daily. Almost every time you come in you can try something new. The pours are generous, especially for the price. They have a great selection and the owners have been very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I have also found the other people at the wine bar friendly and interesting and will definitely stop by any time I'm nearby. read more
