A month or two ago, I wrote that Dos Burros was my new favorite spot. Flowers now rivals that, but I suppose that's no surprise given they are "sister restaurants"! I don't want to write about both restaurants on the Flowers page but I think it's worth calling out that the service / hospitality and craftsmanship for both food and drink in both restaurants are standout. For drinks, we ordered the Flowers Old Fashioned and Cantarito. For the Cantarito, I loved the tart passion fruit with the slight carbonation of the grapefruit soda--this was definitely my kind of drink! For food, we shared everything: tuna wonton tacos, prawn cigars, duck with risotto, scallops, and brussel sprouts. This was the perfect amount of food, as we left full and satisfied but not stuffed. The tuna wonton tacos had a good amount of tuna, and had a such a punch of (well-balanced) flavors; I loved the touch of heat. The duck was also incredibly tender with a crispy outside, and I think the natural fattiness / oiliness of the duck paired well with the relatively sharp, Parmesan flavor of the risotto. I also enjoyed the flavors and sauces with the other dishes but those two aforementioned were my favorite. Lastly, the bread pudding for dessert was excellent! It was the perfect size to share, and I loved the various crunchy "garnishes", from the graham cracker crumbs to the caramelized sugar piece and the little chocolate balls. We saw a review on Check Please a few years ago and always intended to try it. We had a wonder experience. The restaurant is small and intimate. Service is excellent! We started with the beef carpaccio and it was tender and delicious. We also had the shrimp cigars and two old fashioned. For main course I had the miso cod and it was tender and very flavorful- the miso saturated the entire fish. Going forward I would have ordered a vegetable to pair with it. My husband ordered the duck and that was a bit disappointing. They hadn't rendered the fat properly so the skin was chewy rather than crisp. The duck was slightly on the tough side. On a very positive note, the wines are market price rather than the large markup you see in most restaurants. The chocolate cake was overly dense. Since it was a birthday celebration they also brought out little chocolate cream filled cups that were delicious. We will definitely return. read more

We came here on Saturday evening for our anniversary dinner. We had a reservation so we got seated quickly. The restaurant is very calm and is great for many occasions, such as date night or girls night. I was impressed at how picturesque the restaurant was and the addition of the flowers on our table. The background looked great in our photos. We ordered the prime filet steak bites for our appetizer. Our entrees were Jumbo Lobster Tail and Mary's Airline Chicken. The portions were small and comfortable for 2 people. The lobster tail was tasty and the steak bites were tender; both meals were delicious. The meals were on the pricey side. This is a restaurant that has nice decor, great vibe and comfortable seatings that people would want to hangout with friends to have a nice meal. Service is great and I especially love the plates and utensils they have. Beets salad: it has yellow and red beets. This is a great starter for beets lovers! Steak appetizers: it has tender steak bites. The seasoning is a little sweet more like Korean bbq flavor. Lobster risotto: the lobster is juicy. The risotto is very al dente. I prefer creamier risotto consistency. Lamb chops: it's juicy and well seasoned. I especially like the side potatoes that's crispy and flavorful. An all-around fabulous experience. Amanda was an amazing, definitely next level service. It all went together well; ambiance, service, food and cocktails. As for food, beef carpaccio and Caesar salad were excellent. As a group we ordered duck breast, Misoyaki black cod, lamb shanks and I ordered the Nero royale linguine. Mine was good, but in all honesty I enjoyed the bite of all the other dishes way more. The linguine just didn't have the complexity of the other dishes. As for cocktails, as a group, which I had taste of each, we had the flowers old-fashioned, kiwi do you love me, Stone fruit sour, garden of Eden, bottle service and day at the spa mocktail. All were good and their own right. The cherry on top was we came for our 29th Anniversary, but didn't say anything until we got here. They made it special despite being notified last minute, wow! If I were the owner I'd send her to French laundry because you're not going to find other wait staff that's this fantastic. Flowers has the perfect mix of beautiful decor, Michelin level service, and great food without the stuffiness of a snooty, Michelin restaurant. This is what we ordered: Salmon nigiri - 5/5 soo good! There could have been a tad more salmon but it was so fresh. Seriously more fresh and buttery than the sushi restaurant down the street. Tuna tacos - 5/5 my favorite! The focus of Flowers is definitely on the food's artistic presentation as well as the restaurants overall ambiance, being very cute and feminine. Lots of flowers sprinkled in the dishes (the name is making sense now) and overall just beautiful to look at, but a tiny bit lacking in the flavor department. The scallops were pretty good but just a tad salty, but I enjoyed the lamb chops. The steak that they were raving promoting was plated gorgeously but was not that great of a cut. This was my second time coming to Flowers. This time I came for my birthday. We ordered drinks and I decided to get the cantarito. It was definitely tart in refreshing way. Our server was great at explaining the drinks and menu . It was pretty busy for a Friday so make a reservation if you can. We've been able to do walk in and waited a bit. As for food, I ordered the shrimp cigars and the beet salad. The shrimp was a little greasy but the sauce had good citrus flavor. I absolutely loved the beet salad. It definitely tasted like spring. Friendly and welcoming staff, a very pretty interior and the food was nicely presented and very tasty. If you reserve online there is a penalty for a less than 24hr cancellation policy. I happen to call in same hr, on the way to the restaurant to make a reservation, so this wasn't a consideration. Someone welcomed me in and shook my hand upon entry as the hostess was walking me to a table. Maybe the owner? Warm welcome, but a quick intro would have been nice. Or maybe he thought he recognized me. Neighboring table had their food delivered right before we ordered. The food looked delicious. We ordered completely different dishes and our food looked equally nice. Well the cod plate looked a little empty and maybe could have used a tiny bit of vegetable. We've been here for birthday celebrations and again we came because of their availability for big party reservations and overall decent food and service. Our waiter was warm and friendly. He took countless photos for us and took care of everything, including the ice cream cake that I brought in. And there's no corkage fee! Big bonus for a birthday celebration! The menu added a couple things but the two times I came it was both the winter menu. Overall the portions are quite large, for Shared apertizers, we ordered 2 for our party of 8. For entrees, we ordered 1-2, the lamb is so big that we just got one and there's left over. Crispy Rice Shrimp $30: crispy rice topped with a creamy avocado edamame crush, ponzu marinated shrimp, finished with a touch of kizami wasabi and crispy fried leeks offering a gentle heat that lingers. OK, our bad that none of us read the description carefully, as we all thought it was some crispy rice paper that with shrimp on top. The flavor is good but the whole thing was mushy other than the top crisps. So we were a bit blindsided by the word "crispy" on the menu. Flowers Wagyu Mini Slider Trio $30: mishima reserve wagyu beef, brioche bun, espresso truffle aioli, tomato jam, micro arugula. You can hardly wrong a small burger, wagyu or not. I mean there's wagyu, truffle and brioche bun, not much you can criticize. And it's a good volume filler too in case you want to maximize on the appetizers. Beet Carpaccio $20: red & gold beets, arugula, candied walnuts, boursin cheese, champagne vinaigrette, balsamic drizzle. The 2 kinds of beets are thinly sliced at the bottom of the plate with arugula covered on top. I like this texture more than the chunky beets. Portion is not too big for 8 people sharing, but flavor is good. Misoyaki Cod $42: black forbidden rice, carrots, celery, sauteed red & yellow bell peppers, garlic, shallots. Cod is flaky and nicely cooked, I wish the black forbidden rice has more flavor. Everyone probably thinks the same as we couldn't even finish all the rice. Lamb Ossobuco $48: creamy polenta infused with gruyere, caramelized shallots, roasted carrots, chive oil, cabernet demi-glace. This dish is huge in volume! The lamb is soft and the polenta is creamy. Seared Duck Breast $42: herbed risotto, cherry cabernet demi-glace, argula, meyer lemon vinaigrette. The duck is heavy in flavor and delivered a strong punch to the taste bud! The meat is not overly sauced so we could taste the duck more in its authentic way. The meat was served as a whole piece, so for sharing we had to cut it up on our own. 8oz Prime Filet $50: au-gratin yukon potato with garlic cream, bacon wrapped asparagus, cabernet demi-glace. Everything tasted good! The potato cake was presentable and delish, the steak was cooked to perfection and soft texture of meat. We also added a Truffle Parmesan Fries side. The fries are thin and crispy with good truffle flavor. Another hard to not miss item. For birthday celebration, we were gifted of 2 complementary plates of desserts. I didn't try it but the mini chocolate cup with some red berry mousse inside received good feedback. I loved the small chocolate wafer balls rolled around the mini cups. Overall it was a pleasant experience for our birthday party. We were largely left alone for our girls chats, but our waiters skillfully inserted themselves in refilling water and removing dirty dishes without being a bother or distraction. Yelp led us here, and after briefly considering the place next door, the host let us know they had bar seating available at their sister restaurant. We took the offer and were seated right away on a Friday evening. From the first round of drinks, it was clear this place takes presentation seriously. Nearly everything arrives dressed with delicate floral touches. We ordered the Blanco Franco, a bright and flavorful tequila cocktail, along with an Old Fashioned and one of their signatures, the Hummingbird. That one was the showstopper, topped with a cloud of Turkish cotton candy that was a tasty treat. For the mains, we went with the blackened salmon plate and the seared duck breast. The salmon was beautifully plated and paired with a creamy, distinctive sauce that made each bite feel intentional. The duck breast was tender and well-executed. Both plates were so delicious! Dessert sealed the deal. We followed our bartender Eli's recommendation and ordered the bread pudding, which turned out to be rich, warm, and completely worth the indulgence. Delicious salad and good main dishes with very pretty desserts (including kudos for the bread pudding that wasn't too wet like most and had a moist cake-like texture!). One mention is that two members ordered the rack of lamb medium rare and they were served too rare and had to be put back on, which can change the texture of this delicate meat. I didn't have too great of an experience at Flowers. The ambiance is super pretty inside and the service is very good but the food was not enjoyable for me. Parking is difficult as the restaurant is downtown and the lots are kind of far. The menu barely has any vegetarian options which was already disappointing. I got the cauliflower steak and side of sautéed mushrooms. The "steak" was overpriced in my opinion at 33$ and just didn't taste that good at all, would not get again. The mushrooms kind of lacked flavor or something I couldn't put my finger on it exactly. The quantity was nice though even though it was just a side dish. The snowstorm cocktail was really yummy and pretty, I would come back for it for sure. It has a nice berry flavor. For dessert we got the chocolate lava cake. We shared - Beet salad ($20) - the fresh beets went wonderfully with the Boursin cheese, candied walnuts, and arugula. Tuna Tataki ($30) - fresh and amazing. Steak Bites ($24) - super tender and teriyaki-esque sauce seasoned. The Duck ($32) and Steak ($48) entrees were wonderful as well - the sauces and sizes were impeccable. Overall the dishes were very well composed and flavored. They even brought out a surprise dessert :) - mini chocolate cream tartlets - so yummy! The inside is just stunning - I gasped when I walked in. You will find a pink and gold color scheme, lots of cute pieces and furniture, and of course lots of flowers. Started off with some drinks, with me ordering the stone fruit sour cocktail, that tasted refreshing with the foam at the top. We ordered the wagyu mini slider trio (meat cooked perfection that matched savory and sweet with a jam filling), lamb dish (soft meat that resembled a texture to galbijjim) and seared crispy duck breast with rich risotto, all of which tasted amazing with the sauces. At the end, we were given a complimentary dessert dish for my birthday that does not seem to be on their menu, but tasted like raspberry tarts with a scattering of tiny chocolates on the plate. Wow. I don't know where to start or begin! Wifey and I had an impromptu date night and found our way to Flowers. The service, food, atmosphere and value were legit all 6/5. We started with the wagyu sliders $30 amazing with a sweet umami packed tomato jam on top. My wife LOVED it and was I was surprised to find she wanted to split the last one with me (dang I thought I'd get two haha). Because it was a last minute date we settled for a spot at the bar but let me tell you in was awesome. The seating is really comfortable and the bar top is an illuminated stone which adds a great vibe. Our bartender, Mari, was a true professional! I ordered a perfect Manhatten which she absolutely nailed ($15). I had the Misoyaki cod ($42) as my main which was perfectly prepared, unctuous, and packed with umami flavor. The cod was set on top of a puck of black rice seasoned to perfection. My wife had the scallops ($40) these were expertly prepared with a nice sauce. I could tell Mari was a pro after the Manhatten so I went for a Michters rye old fashioned ($14). Nailed it! We ended our meal with the dynamite sweet but well balanced bread pudding ($18) and made a promise to ourselves we would return on our next date night. read more

Starters Ahi Tuna Tataki $30 - A bit overpriced with only four slices. The wasabi tobiko was interesting and the amount of avocado smash and ponzu was tasty. You only get 4 slices of tuna however so its pricey for the value if you're really looking for the Tataki here. Should be like $15 for only 4 slices of tuna and a scoop of avocado smash. Not recommended based on value. Pulled Pork Steam Bun Duo $30 - You only get two buns here so its pricey. The sauce is pretty strong and has a sour acidic finish. Skip this unless you're really interested in it. The brussel sprouts were ok, but I prefer them leafed. The hummingbird drink was fancy looking and tasty, but the cotton candy could have been better. Entrées Misoyaki Cod $42 - Wonderfully cooked, everyone liked this dish at the table. The black rice was sort of like a fried rice with a bunch of ingredients folded into it. The fish itself was soft and creamy, with a nice finish on the outside where the miso caramelized. Seared Duck Breast $42 - Not sure what happened here but the skin wasn't crispy and it was overcooked. The duck also wasn't well seasoned (no brine etc), and the sauce was weak. It could have used more seasoning/sauce as the cook made the duck tougher and drier than what you'd desire from duck breast. The risotto was overcooked and gummy, and the cheese also made it a bit stringy too which isn't what you want from a classic risotto. This was disappointing so you should avoid. 7oz Waygu Filet $78 - The medium rare was more rare than medium, but overall the filet was good. The demi-glace sauce paired nicely though the carrots seemed a bit overcooked yet undercooked inside. The au-gratin potatoes however were well seasoned and crispy, and cooked through. I'd say there's better value elsewhere if you're looking for pure steak, but it was not bad at all. The service was exceptional and the ambience was not too loud, but we were seated in the corner. They had the receptionist outside the door which was interesting. read more

The ambiance is nice and upscale, beautiful paintings on the walls (even in the ladie's room) comfortable furniture and pleasant lightings. Our server Alex was excellent through out the entire evening, attentive, polite, efficient and not overbearing. Service here is top notch. We ordered a bunch of dishes for the three of us to share, several of them were clear winners, opinion were mixed on some others. Plating of all dishes were absolutely gorgeous. The Prawn Cigars were delicious which pairs perfectly with the Pomegranate and Burrata salad, we loved them. (5/5 for both) The Osaka Filet bites was not my favorite, servings was generous but the filet was over cooked and the sauce was way too sweet imho. (3/5) Our main courses were: Miso Cod, good flavor, flaking fish and black rice was good. (4/5) Scallops- three large ones over a rice cake with bacon pieces, pretty good (4/5) Wagyu sliders trio with truffle fries , this maybe the favorite of many but the tomato jam was so sweet I had to give my share to hubby. (?/5) We received a complimentary birthday dessert, (thanks) also ordered Key Lime pie which was beautifully plated, but could be tangier. Came here for a girl's night and we were not disappointed! The restaurant was very pretty and the food was just as nice. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, beet salad, tuna trio, cod, key lime pie, and fries and shared it between the 2 of us. The drinks also tasted as good as they looked. I recently came here with my parents on a Sunday night to celebrate their belated anniversary and we lOVED IT! Making a reservation definitely made checking in and seating smooth (so go do that, super easy and the confirm you're still coming an hour or so before). Everyone that works here is so kind. We were served by Gabriela (so sorry if I misspelled her name) and she was the best! Really attentive and timed the different parts of our meal perfectly. We also received a complimentary dessert for the occasion. The inside is decorated cute and classy; inside was not too loud, ample space between tables, and nice music playing. WHAT WE ORDERED: 1) Wagyu Sliders: delicious, could devour all three on my own, love the tomato jam, bread was solid, and the beef patty was so buttery and flavorful. (5/5) 2) Burrata Salad: great amount to share with the table, burrata was huge and fresh, pomegranate seeds were a nice touch. (5/5) 3) 20 oz Rib-eye: Beautifully presented steak that came with a pretty large side of couscous salad. Dad enjoyed it and finished it down to the bone. Some bites were better than others, as in I would get more flavor in some of the pieces I tried compared to others. If I had to nitpick, it could be seasoned a tad more. (4.5/5) 4) Misoyaki Cod: light and delicious fish, miso flavor was not overdone, cod was cooked perfectly, black rice paired well. Although I loved the flavor of the fish, I felt like the plate was missing something (personal preference though). (4.5/5) 5) Scallops: BEST SCALLOPS I EVER HAD! At first, I was a bit skeptical because I saw some reviews say they weren't exactly spectacularly, but I was proven wrong. The scallops were cooked perfectly and cut/melted in my mouth like butter. Sauce was great, pork belly added depth, and the rice cake rounded out the dish. Everything on that plate made sense and had a purpose. My favorite thing of the night! (5/5) 6) Truffle Fries: yummy, can't go wrong (5/5) 7) Chocolate Espresso Cup: delicious, but the chocolate cup was a bit thick.
