This place is really cool! I stopped by bc Iwas in the area. I grabbed a breakfast sandwich which was delicious. They had just added Ramen noodles to their menu which is super cool. The indoor decor is charming. Nothing fancy. It was warm, cozy & welcoming with about 4 tables. Lots of Community news on the walls. Has a great earthy vibe. Music was audible but not overpowering. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. They have lots of great sandwiches to choose from & some great soups. I really loved this place. 4th of July weekend is always bound to be busy down the Cape. It seems the Underground Bakery was unprepared for the rush of customers as I waited ~40 minutes to order my coffee. While waiting, I saw at least 20 customers leave--both people who were in line in front of me and people who were just entering the line. Additionally, people who ordered sandwiches had to wait another 10-15 minutes to get it. I am sharing this to say that I would avoid this place if there's a line. The employees are very kind and are trying their best, but I don't think this place is prepared for the larger crowds. It seems there was a cashier, one person making coffee, and one person making sandwiches. If there isn't a wait, this is a good spot! read more

food - 4/10 service - 6/10 The only promising thing we had here was the grilled cheese but that honestly cannot be messed up. They were just kinda sad, there wasn't much filling or sauce. The chicken caesar wrap didn't even have croutons and the sizes were not filling. We previously checked out the cafe next door but was told there would be a 30 min wait but we came in here with the shorter line but waited much longer with no warnings of any wait times. I love this little spot so much! One of my favorite coffee shops to go to when I'm down the cape! I love the underground vibe and they have so many options for drinks and food! I have truly never had something I didn't enjoy from here! And they are always switching up their specials. There's some seating inside, but there's more outside spread through the small plaza it's nestled in! Quick service for a place that usually has a decent size line! Frankly, I'm shocked by the bad reviews. This is one of my favorite bakeries on the Cape and I go out of my way to visit any time I'm in town. The owner always makes me feel so welcomed and I love their baked goods. A couple of my favorite items are the peanut butter bars and the cinnamon chip scones. 10/10!!! read more

We wanted to love your Key Lime pie for the presentation alone, taking it home from Chatham Bars Inn Farm. Should've read the first ingredient - condensed milk - giving the texture of - imagine chewing dry marzipan which also overwhelmed any hint of Key Lime flavor. The majority went to the trash can. Simply sublime. Ian and Laurie have created a Cheers like vibe in this little bakery. Quite simply, it is full of love. The food, the energy, the welcome, it's pure love. Very disappointed with the customer service here. We came in to get a few items and drinks, and the cashier allowed a bottleneck from a group of four to cause a delay in service to others. On top of that, a barista who came to help decided to to serve a customer that was in line behind us (a regular by their conversation). And to make matters worse, they gave us the wrong items. It's disappointing that this small business did so poorly today. The food was not what we wanted, and we already left when we noticed it. It didn't taste good, but that could be attributed to them grabbing the wrong items. Nevertheless, I would not recommend this place to my friends, and I would not go back. read more

Oh my the owner is not well. (Or the angry woman with the blonde on top die job) She's been so miserable and angry to customers for years not to mention treats her staff so awfully and yells at them in front of customers but this time was over the top. There was a small line for Labor Day and we could tell she was getting flustered. One customer asked for an iced coffee- she gave the wrong order, one asked for sugar, then I asked for milk because they don't put any cream out. I asked for cream, she aggressively said "we don't leave it out" then I looked at her and next thing I know she's coming at me over the counter aggressively saying "what! What do you have to say! Do you have a problem?!" It was pretty shocking to be spoken to that way. I thought she was going to jump over the counter and come at me lol. WILD! Somethings off... If you want to start your morning out with a shitty cup of coffee and dry pastry with a side of verbal abuse this is the coffee shop for you! read more

I tried calling the business so I could talk to a manager instead of writing this, but after multiple attempts with no answer here we are. My boyfriend and I decided to stop here for a birthday lunch, and how someone could fail a simple grilled cheese is beyond me. One of our orders was a special, and didn't have half of the ingredients listed on it. As for the other, a simple grilled cheese with bacon, the bacon seemed like it was store bought fake crumbles with almost no cheese. It was like burnt dog food. After two simple orders, it was over $20 for just these two things. I tried calling multiple times to talk to management and request a refund but no reply. I have been the recipient of Underground Bakery's fantastic pastries and treats. I decided I had to check them out myself, plus it was my birthday!! I drove over about 4:00 pm and did have a bit of trouble but finally found them and not getting out of the car, it looked as though they were closed. But, the biggest detriment for me was that I could not see any handicapped access. I emailed them asking that question on 9/26, But have not received a reply. read more

What a disappointment! After reading the recent Cape Cod Times article about how wonderful the vegan ramen is, I decided to head out on a cold, May afternoon. I don't care about atmosphere as long as the food is good. The place is small and earthy with three small tables. As I was waiting for my order, I looked at the baked goods and decided on a vegan carrot cake truffle that looked like a munchkin. I was very optimistic about it. As soon as I bit into it, all I could taste was freezer burn! No carrot taste, just cold, stale, dough. Sure enough, it was frozen in the middle. It was also COATED with too much sugar like a jelly donut. This meal itself was horrible! I ordered the vegan ramen and it came with an egg on top. The broth was mysterious tasting along with the mystery vegan meats thrown in. The broccoli, overcooked noodles, and mushrooms made it taste like minestrone soup overall. My mother had a BLT with over cooked bacon and really hard bread. The Vietnamese coffee tasted old and bitter. I am really mad at the Cape Cod Times for playing this one up. I wonder how much that reporter was paid to say, "Ramen Done Right". Very nice staff, cozy atmosphere, but left something to be desired. Our 3 breakfast wraps were underwhelming. All wraps needed more flavor... nothing was seasoned. We had the fiesta wrap, tofu scramble, and turkey potato wrap. Everything tasted pretty stale. We also got the Buffalo Ranch almonds and they even tasted flavorless and stale. The Vietnamese coffee was 100% though. Hope they work to improve because this place has so much potential! read more

Who would have thought to find an underground London style bakery in Dennis MA that serves Ramen and other delicious soups from scratch! Amazing!! Hone made Kimchi!! The staff are friendly, the baking is original and fresh, the coffee's good, they have really decent hours relative to Cape standard, and the owners are good people. Lunch tidbits are excellent, soups are delish, the place is charming and well-maintained and funny. So please stay away so I can find a parking spot and survive crossing 6A to get here, and so there will be more goodies when I get there, and so this best-of-Cape spot doesn't get spoiled the way best-of-Cape spots tend to get spoiled. SO disappointed. As a family of vegans, eating down the cape is not as easy as you'd think. Which is why discovering the underground bakery was so exciting. We walked in, ordered our food and even though there are a total of 3 tables in the entire bakery, found ourselves a table and sat down. As we watched the clock tick and my eyes began to burn from the fumes around the place. 45 minutes later and we politely asked the status of our food, as we were the ONLY customers there. We were looked at with confused faces and told "what did you order? We don't have any orders." Rather than being followed by apologies, we were told "oh just wait another 4-5 minutes I guess I can make it now." Not a care in the world for the dissatisfaction of their customers, keeping us waiting, being ignored in the small environment of the bakery. In short: our order was forgotten about, we were the loan customers yet somehow ignored for 45 minutes (and would have been longer) the ambiance was small and stuffy, and we walked out of their with NO apologies from all of the 7+ present employees that were present for the entirety for the situation. I ordered the vegan cheesesteak and it was pretty delicious. For $9 I expected it to be bigger. They should really offer a small side salad with a small $9 sandwich. I gave only 4 stars because of the cost and the staff wasn't very friendly. I'd suggest getting your food to go or sit outside- it's named Underground for a reason. read more

What an awesome place to be. I ended up here because my partner is friends with one of the kick ass chefs/managers that work here and has been working here for eons. Her name is Laurie and she belongs on a cooking show she is the ish! Literally, I was so tempted to try all the pastries in the case, by the way we came here October 2019. Why'd it take me so long to write the review? Well the place is so cutty I almost forgot about it. And then one day my parter said "my best friend is the F*****g S**t" and I said why'd you say that? Her reply was look at this and it was an amazing photo of some food she'd made at home. I was impressed and felt like I didn't want her talents to go unnoticed so I'm taking my sweet old time thanking her. We were treated like family in the place we sat with one of the regulars who was THRILLED to be chatty cats with us ladies. I liked the environment it felt safe and really homey, her customer service was everything that I would want and expect I've seen her interact with about 5-7 customers while we were there. She had a vegan meatloaf that she was kind enough to serve us and man oh man was it packed full of flavor. She's been cooking for a long time so I hear, hopefully these praises brighten up your day Laurie because you are oh so deserving of it. She sent us home with a few pasties even though I was the main person wanting them. But right then and there I really knew that she and my boo were REAL friends. read more
